Protecting the Innocent

[Nerune]

Worde. Even though their military was doing its best to keep the monsters out, it was still a monster infested hellhole. Well to be fair they did a better job at it than most territories, despite being a direct neighbour to Ostia. And currently that meant that monsters were crossing the border all the time. So really they weren't as bad as for example... Caelin. Or Thria for that matter.
To be honest they would probably make a fine sucessor to Ostia. Better than Laus at the very least. Ah who am I kidding? All marquesses are behaving like little children right now. Even Phareae is not doing enough. And they definitely have the power to help. Maybe even get the league back together!
Nerune was beginning to get angry. But her thoughts were interrupted by a scream followed by groaning.
Sensing that the scream was coming from someone in danger, Nerune started running in that direction. She came into a clearing and there a horrifying scene was presented to her. Four revenants had cornered a little girl, forming a semicircle around her. Since there was a giant rock at her back, the girl didn't have anywhere to escape to. Slowly the revenants were slowly closing in on her. The girl seemed to be around 9 or 10 and was screaming at the top of her lungs. Thinking quickly Nerune ran in, hitting the head of the revenant on the far right of the semicircle with her lance, which sent him flying away from the girl. Grabbing the girl and moving back out of the semicircle happened almost at the same time, so that the next closest monster missed her with its powerful swing. Nerune knew that she couldn't outrun the revenants while carrying the girl. Just as she turned around to ask if she could run, Nerune saw that the girl had an injured foot. So all she said was:
"Stay behind me and you'll make it out alive. Ok? "
Clearly surprised the girl nodded.
Now about these things. They are not very fast compared to others, but very powerful. While I might dodge a lot, one hit will hurt like hell. Dammit! If only I had some kind of help!

[dimino]

Dimino walked with his lance and shield strapped to his back with his helm up. He stretched as he walked along. "So...this is what it looks like outside of my tribe. I honestly expected more. But I'm sure that there was a reason for my tr-" he was then cut short by what sounded like a scream nearby. He turned to the source of the scream to see what looked to be a young girl that was surrounded by revenants. But shortly afterwords, a woman came and bashed around the Revenants. Though it looked that she was outmatched by the numbers presented to her!

Dimino pulled down his helm and grabbed his lance and shield. "Looks like someone needs my help!" he said as he rushed ahead. He quickly rushed ahead at the group of Revenants as he raised his shield to his face. Letting out his battle cry, Dimino used his shield to shove one of the Revenants away from the group. He then twirled his lance and swung it at the other Revenant. The tip caught the side of the monster, but it slowly turned toward Dimino and tried to lash out at him. He could only raise his shield only to be sent back slightly from the blow. Looking at the situation at hand, he can only observe what he needed to do; protect the girl and help the other soldier defeat the monsters presented before them!

Dimino quickly raised his lance as he lunged at the revenant again only to slightly miss, but the Revenant seemed unfazed and kept its attention at the other soldier. "In the name of my tribe in Nabata, I will not let either of you fall!" he yelled at the girl and other soldier. Honestly, he was hopping that with the combined strength of him and the other soldier, they'd be able to defeat the monsters and help the girl get back to safety. He banged his lance on his shield to give off an intimidating feel. Just need to hold them off...but I don't think even with my training that I'll be able to help those two get away safely unless we get some other form of aid and fast! he thought.

[Gorou]

Gorou was lost and walking without any source of direction he was supposed to go to Pherae or Caelyn two parts of Lycia who normally hired mercenaries often, he needed a job and house as well, he was hoping to get a well paying job, until he heard the sound of something odd..."A battle? Here? Well sounds like a Good opportunity to get some money..." The Young Mage went closer to take a look at the fight that was happening.

After seeing the Renevants and the two Soldiers he though 'They might need some help.' He grabbed his spell book and then created two fire balls which he aimed and threw at one of the Renevants, whic was now on fire and burning. He then walked closer to two soldier and asked one of them "Do you need some help?" He then created a bigger Fire ball and held it in his hand, for a while.

[Nerune]

The monsters seemed surprised at the arrivals of the soldier and the mage. Nerune however silently thanked her luck.
Shooting a look of thanks at the soldier in yellow and sending a small smile at the red-haired mage she replied:
"Yes I think I could use some help. Thanks, both of you. Anyways the girl here can't move, she has got an injured leg. So we'll probably have to try and fight these off."
Seeing an opening, probably due to the revenants confusion, Nerune lunged at the revenant that had just been hit by the two fireballs. Slightly bending her knees while moving, Nerune pointed her lance at the revenant so that it would hit its head from below. And it hit. The head was pierced cleanly and Nerune pulled out her lance quickly - getting your lance stuck in a foe meant death. One of the first lessons she had been taught in the pharaen military. Thinking of her comrades from that time made Nerune angry. These mindless monsters had no right to claim human lives! They should all die! Just like this one. Falling to the ground, that monster was was down for the count. However there were still three left. Her red eyes burning with determination she said:
"That makes it a fair fight. Three of us against three of us. Actually now one of us may have an opportunity to run away with the girl. Then the two that stay back can fight without having to protect someone. Or we stay together for more manpower. So what do you guys think?"

[dimino]

Dimino kept his lance and shield rose in front of him. He quickly looked back at the girl behind them, whom clearly looked quite terrified. "I'm staying here with you, with the two of us, I highly doubt that even one of these monsters will get past our defenses!" he said. He then looked quickly at the mage whom just arrived. He was thankful for the help that just arrived, but if the mage knew what was best, he would either stay behind to attack the monsters safely with his magic, or help the girl escape.

As he looked back, he saw one of the Revenants attempt to lunge at Dimino. He rose his lance as he blocked the attack, but struggled to keep the monster at bay! As sweat started to form on his head, he could only keep the monster at bay while he hoped that the mage or other soldier would launch a counter attack of some sort on the monster. "I will not...let you through!" Dimino yelled as he kept the monster occupied. Then, one of the other monsters started to lunge at him from his left. Dimino could only release one of his hands on the lance as he rose his shield to stop the blow, only to be knocked back by the combined force. As he got up, the two monsters slowly made their way to him while the third attempted to go for the girl!

Dimino quickly got up and rushed at the monster that went for the girl. He bashed it in the head with his shield as he rose his lance and struck it in the chest. In its attempt, the Revenant struggled to claw at Dimino, only to claw at his shield.

[Gorou]

Gorou looked around calculating an attack to one of the Renevants Ok...I have to lure them away from the girl He though for a bit and threw the fireball that was previously on his hand in the head of one of the Renevants, the monster that got hit went dazed slightly and then it went after the Mage that just hit him.

The young mage backed away and threw another Fireball at the monster that was going after him the hit made the Renevant back away one step, then the Mage picked his Spell Book and focused. The Renevant still trying to get close to attack him. The Mage created a bigger Fireball and though I have to be careful, this move will tire me out if used incorrectly. He then threw it and burst a hole on the monster's chest. The young mage was surprised "That was unexpected, but I'll accept that it happened! Now to destroy this monstrous creature!" he said and focused on creating a Powerful Fireball on his two hands, the Renevant stunned because of the previous attack.

Then the young Mage finished creating and powering up Fireball and then he threw the Fireball at the Renevant's head bursting it on flames and melting it. After that Gorou was breathing heavily, tired because of the effort of destroying one Renevant all by himself, since he was still inexperienced with most of the spells he just used, he was a bit open to an attack because of that.

[Nerune]

Two down. Seeing as there were only two revenants left Nerune was tempted to agree with the other soldier. They could do it. That soldier was still struggling with one revenant. But other one was going for the exhausted mage!
Dammit! Mage first. He has got no armour. The soldier should be able to take a hit.
Nerune tackled the revenant, that was focusing on the mage, pushing it away a few metres. Thankfully the revenant reacted very slowly and his claws only grazed her armour. Seeing as the revenant would need a few seconds to recover she turned to the other one. With one gigantic thrust she hit the revenants left side, throwing the monster off balance and leaving it open for an attack. Not having time to help further she turned around only to find the other revenant in attack range. However her attack range was only slightly bigger than that of the monster. That thing seemed to know this and threw himself at her, his claws ready to strike. Nerune leapt to the side using her lance as help. However that left her open for an attack. That attack came quicker than she expected. She knew she was going to get hit, but she was sure she would do damage too. Shortly before the swing hit her, sending her flying at the next tree, she rammed her lance into the revenants leg.
F*ck that hurts. But this battle is as good as won. See you in hell monster.
Standing up she was quite shaky. She was out of range of the revenant though. And that meant she was out of danger. As she had hoped her last blow had rendered its leg useless. It was trying to move by dragging itself over the floor but was clearly failing. A satisfied grin began to show on her face.
If nothing stupid happened they had done it. She couldn't see the other soldier from her angle, so she didn't know how he was doing, but she trusted him to deal with the last dangerous revenant. The one on the foor was easy prey for her and the mage though.

As the Revenant kept clawing at Diminos shield, he rose his lance once again and thrust it in the monsters head. As the creature began to slow in it's attempts at clawing him, Dimino began to lower his shield as the life left the creatures body. Dimino let out a sigh as he finally looked around. He could see the other soldier having better luck than he did with the other Revenant considering that it is clawing on the ground. He lifted his helm to reveal his face after seeing that the battle is all but over in their favor.

"Never again shall these abominations harm anyone" he said as he walked toward the soldier. He looked at the soldier, then looked back at the mage, seeing whom of them will deliver the potential final blow on the now weakened monster that crawled on the ground. He was mostly pleased to see that the girl was unharmed most of all. He was also happy to see that the other soldier and mage were still in relative good condition. He only gripped his lance and shield to wait and see what happens next. The desert of Nabata with the training that my tribe helped prepare me for what horrors would lie beyond it...never had I expected that I would have to use my skills so soon, and on monsters such as these. If they exist outside of our tribe and they roam freely... Dimino could only sigh sadly as the realization of what is happening starts to dawn upon him. The only way for peace, would be to protect the weak from not just monsters, but from bandits, and those that abuse their power...

[Gorou]

The Young continued breathing heavily, he though on his mind Phew....that was...hard...and so...tiring...but I...still have...some energy left... He looked at the two other soldiers, then looked at the ground, he looked at the Renevant and picked his spell book once more focusing on creating a final Fireball to finished the monster.

After that he threw the Fireball at the Renevant's head and it melted it away, he though to himself Ok....It's over...phew...maybe I should introduce myself to them... He looked at the two soldiers and walked over to them. He looked at them he smiled at the two and said in a friendly tone of voice "Um...hello there, you two seemed to be in a bit of trouble so I decided to help. I should intorduce myself...My name is Gorou, I am a Mage from Ilia, I've been traveling for a few days, and I am looking to find a job. By the way I am a Mercenary...If you would like to hire I would be grateful to help!" He said with a smile on his face, He was young, so some innocence also showed up on his smile. He then asked to them "So what do you think? Would like to hire me? I can be really helpful!" He had an energetic posture and waited for their answer, he though for a little I hope I didn't sound stupid...but I also hope they hire me...I need the money. He continued waiting for them to answer.

[Nerune]

That was the last one. Nerune took the trembling girl into her arms and answered the mages question:
"I guess it's time for introductions now. I'm Nerune a former soldier of pharae and currently working as a mercenary. Sorry to disappoint you Gorou but I can't hire you."
She smiled at the mage hoping he wouldn't be too disappointed. Before she could ask the other soldier for his name though, the girl in her arms, which seemed like she had calmed down, interrupted her.
"Thank you."
Suddenly starting to smile she continued:
"You saved my life! I'm sure my pappa is going to reward you! Maybe even hire you! He always buys me stuff. One time he bought a pony for me and another time he gave me a shiny rock which, he said, is very valuable! "
Rich parents huh? So I guess saving lives does get rewarded sometimes. I mean nothing against saving lives for free but you have to survive somehow right?
Absorbed in her thoughts Nerune didn't notice that the young girl had continued to talk and her thoughts were interrupted by the girl's voice:
"Maybe you can bring me home?"
Squinting her eyes the girl seemed to concentrate.
Gorou, Nerune and...
Noticing she didn't know the name of the third person, the girl blushed. Sensing the girl's embarrassment, Nerune asked for the soldier's name:
"What's your name? Also thanks for the help."
"Actually thanks, to both of you."
She added with a look at the mage that had previously introduced himself as Gorou.
