A tug on his robe. Shadow glanced to his side, as he saw Alphonse seem to try to communicate with him, but was having some trouble with it. Shadow leaned just a bit closer, to try to understand what he was saying. He could only understand one word; sleep. After that, Alphonse just leaned back, and looked asleep. With a bit of saliva on his mustache. Shadow sighed, almost as if he were laughing on the inside. Which he was, because he got worked up for nothing. Alphonse needed sleep, which he was going to get. Again, Shadow tried and luckily succeeded to prop Alphonse on his side, and walked him to the stairs. He was just about to go up, when the bartender's voice suddenly rang out, "That priest is only trouble. You might as well ditch him now." He looked over at the bartender, and said evilly, "The water can go onto the table I was last at. I'll be down later." Shadow was just about to go onward upstairs, then stopped. He then looked back at the bartender, then asked, "His room?" The bartender stuttered, "F-f-first door on the left." He nodded, then continued up the stairs. Once Shadow had gotten Alphonse into his room, he went back downstairs. Once there, he went to the bar. Instead of ordering a drink, he asked, "Are there any rooms available?" The bartender nodded, laid out a key from his pocket, then said, "Last door on the right." The bartender said this with a little more confidence now, but he put that out of his mind. Shadow slid his hand in his cloak, grabbed something, then handed a few coins to the bartender. He nodded, then walked back to his seat. Shadow sat down, took out a book, and pretended to read under his hood as a group of people sat and watched him closely.

Alphonse soon fell asleep after laying his head back on the chair. He didn't remember anything that had happened afterwards, he was now in a very deep sleep. Alphonse could see himself, sitting as if on ground, but was not, instead we was floating in a deep, dark space. He had his eye's closed thinking to himself. What he thought to himself, he couldn't quite understand, but it felt as if it was important, in some otherworldly way.
Alphonse felt the light of day caressing his cheeks. He opened his eye's and saw the window peeking through the wall. He got up and stretched his arms. The priest did not question how he managed to get a room, or what had happened to Shadow, for he already knew. He leapt out of bed and took in a breath. Alphonse was a peculiar man, for he never got a "hangover," instead he felt great the day after drinking. The only time he would feel bad would be right after drinking. Alphonse slipped on his robe and shoes then grabbed his staff. He walked downstairs and scanned over the room, looking for Shadow.

Shadow had an uneventful night last night. He was expecting a fight, but the punks never came at him. He just sat there, fake reading, watching some group of punks play with daggers, clumsily. They tried twirling their weapons, showing off what little skill they had with knives. Instead of showing the punks real power, he left them. They looked disappointed, but it must have been better than dead.
He looked up from his book. Shadow saw Alphonse and gave a little wave. He was hoping that he had gotten better. Perhaps now they could have a better conversation. Shadow was curious of how Alphonse had gotten to be a priest in life. Why would one take a life of healing, of all professions. He was curious, but Shadow would be subtle.

Alphonse saw Shadow in his chair and watched as he waved towards him. Alphonse smiled and walked over next to where Shadow was sitting. "Hello, how are you this fine morning?" The priest said in a cheerful mood. He walked over to the chair next to Shadow and plopped himself in it. He examined Shadow; he saw that he had not changed much since last night(not that he expected he would). He didn't look tired at the least, he looked his usual calm, mysterious self.

Shadow gave a light smile. He then replied, "It is a nice morning, and I'm doing good. I hope the same goes for you. "Alphonse, are you okay? You had some fall back their." He wondered why he even asked the question, because Alphonse looked healthy. He looked much better than before, and with a smile on his face. Generally, without showing it, Shadow was surprised by his recovery.

"Oh yes, I'm quite fine," Alphonse said, situating himself in the chair and relaxing. He looked around the room, only one other person-other than the innkeeper-was in the room; A well dressed man that looked like he was traveling. He put is elbows onto his legs, clasped his hands together and rested his chin on his hands. He looked up at Shadow, not knowing what to say: Why don't you tell people your real name? What made you become a shaman? What the hell happened last night?

Shadow stood still, letting the awkward silence stay for a moment. An uncomfortable moment that was about to make him blush. He usually did that when embaressed. But the way Alphonse looked at him was like he was searching for something. Something he was not about to tell freely. Unlike himself, Shadow felt a bit talkative, and broke the silence. "So," he began, "Why Ilia? That kind of area is for mercenaries and bandits. Kind of dangerous for a priest like yourself, with no real protection what-so-ever. Or, am I wrong?" Shadow just assumed that Alphonse was alone, but he never put any thought into it.

Alphonse, at Shadow's last question, looked up at him with piercing eye's then gave an evil grin. He sat there, looking at the shaman. He then leaned back up against his chair, relaxed, and his grin turned back into his good-morning-smile. "I'm going there for personal reason's, but don't worry, I know people. Maybe if your willing to go, you might just find out more." The priest looked up at Shadow with begging eye's and still with his good-morning-smile.

Shadow's light, gentle smile turned into a grin. He chuckled to himself, and saw Alphonse's begging eyes. Yes, he did want to go with him. With the strange rumors of something happening in Etruria, he thought that getting out was the best idea. Now, he had a reason to leave. An entrance to a new area. Perhaps he would find a good book along the way. Shadow, keeping his grin, replied happily, "Sure, I've been needing an excuse to leave this place." His grin faded into his passive smile, as he asked, "Well, if we're going, you probably need to eat. Hungry? I've already eaten, so it won't be as thought you were eating in front of me." Shadow didn't want Alphonse to feel upset if he was eating without him.

"I could use something to eat!" Alphonse said, putting his hand over his stomach. He couldn't remember the last time he had something decent to eat. He closed his eye's and leaned his head back, as if thinking about something. He took a deep breath, then leaned his head towards Shadow and opened his eye's. This is going to be interesting, I can already tell.

Shadow nodded to Alphonse. He then replied, "Well, better get that innkeeper over here." Shadow turned towards the innkeeper at the bar. The two had a moment when they both saw each other. That was when he notioned the man over to where they were. He saw the innkeeper nod, and started coming over. Shadow relaxed in his chair. He opened his cloak, and stuck his hand into one of his inner pockets. He then pulled out his dark tome. Instead of holding it in one hand, he opened the tome like a book, and began to study the symbols on the pages. Shadow knew Alphonse had a good idea of what kind of weapon he was holding, and he hoped that he noticed. He had a hunch, and Shadow had to tell Alphonse about it, without bringing to much attention to himself.

Watched as he motioned the innkeeper over, he could hear his stomach start to growl quietly. Alphonse watched with a straight face as Shadow pulled out his tome. The shaman looked as if he was reading it, which seemed odd; just reading a tome like a book in public. Alphonse pushed the thought out of his head as he heard the innkeeper getting near. I hope the innkeeper isn't will mad at me... he probably still is, this should be interesting.

The innkeeper came over. Shadow listened as the innkeeper told the two of the available meals. As the innkeeper kept talking, Shadow glanced over at Alphonse. He was not very responsive. Shadow got the impression that Alphonse did not want to talk with the innkeeper. Not knowing what Alphonse wanted, Shadow did the only thing he could do without making an awkward silence. "Just a short stack of hotcakes. That'll be good for the two of us." The innkeeper stared at Shadow for a bit, grimly. The innkeeper then shook his head lightly, then left the table. As he walked, Shadow put on his hood and continued to fake read. He was expecting something to happen.

Alphonse felt himself sigh inside as he watched the innkeeper walked away. He tuned over back to the shaman,"Thanks, I really..." Alphonse stopped as he saw that Shadow had gone back to his book. This time the priest was much more curious as to why he was reading his tome; was it normal? It definitely didn't seem like it. Alphonse leaned closer to Shadow and looked down towards the tome.
"What's going on?" Alphonse whispered,"You're no reading that now are you?" The priest could easily tell, because at the pace his eye's were moving, he wouldn't even be able to make out any words.

Shadow partially listened to Alphonse. It was apparent that Alphonse was understanding something was going on, and Shadow's hypothesis was about to come true. He knew this because of the man at the bar. The one that wore nice clothing. Shadow saw as the man partially kept looking back, towards the window. This time, he suddenly froze up. He completely forgotten his meal, as he scrambled around in his seat, looking at all possible exits. The man suddenly saw the stairs, and failed as he tried to calmly walk up them.
Shadow made a sigh, then, "tsk tsk tsk. Figured."
He looked back at Alphonse. Shadow knew there wasn't time, but he had to ask. "Alphonse, you can duck at swinging, jabbing, or slashing objects, right?" He said this hurriedly, and with a bit of a hushed voice as well.
