Clair nodded at what he said about the salary being payed out. That would definitely help raise the morale.
Clair received the news of returning to Sacae with curiosity mixed with dread. "Back to Salvation Point? How many other High Officers are going? And why would that many soldiers be sent to Sacae? Lycia is where they're needed." Even Clair, with her inexperience, knew that the nimble sacaen peoples would never be caught by the Etrurian armies unless enough soldiers were sent to cover the grassy plains.
"Theian?" Clair stopped and concentrated at the ground for a moment. "The last time I remember seeing him.... It was yesterday. I was near the healer's tents and there was a barricade officer shouting at him. I don't remember seeing him since then." She looked up at her commander, awaiting his reply

Richter noted Clair's response about Theian. He'd check it out later. "It's me and a few others," he said soberly. "Though, that's for Sacae as a whole. It's just going to be Commander Ariston and I at Salvation Point..." Richter pondered what he had just said. Why would the Herald be sending multiple High Officers to the backwater Sacae, of all places?
"I don't know what the Herald is thinking. There must be something in Sacae. That would explain why they had had a fortress there. That...or he's trying to get me out of the way...No, that's wasting too many soldiers just to put one High Officer out of the picture." Richter really had no idea why he was going back to Sacae.
The Herald said that it was to remount on the missionary efforts, but multiple High Officers? It didn't make any sense. He'd think about it on the way there.

OOC: I'd say go for it, but still: multiple soldiers traveling to Sacae, they'd have to pass through other territories unless they retreat back through the mountains: either way that would take more time and stuffs...now time for a rather confusing post.
Around this point Lyar walked in in a rather...normal fashion, rubbing his sore head: he must of hit it at some point, how we could only guess from the innocent brute...oxymoron. He then, again rather normally stood at attention, followed by a salute.
"Commander Abend, pardon the interruption, but it appears our good friend Theian has departed from our company. I saw him riding off with a Wyvern Rider." he was speaking so formally...maybe that blow to the head he mysteriously obtained was doing him some good," I believe that ends his contract with you, yes? Anyways, what are your orders?" he kept at the ready, noting that he was getting used to his new armor, his axe strapped to his back...odd, why was he wearing armor in the first place? He was a privateer...that is hardly a good decision...oh well, he was on land now, and thus had no need for any emergency swimming.

OoC: We're going to dick around for a little bit
Richter raised an interested eyebrow at Lyar's behavior. His professional normality was odd at the very least. After taking a quick second to recollect himself from the slight surprise, Richter saluted the large, blue-haired man.
"Really..." he replied. The wyvern rider was probably the one from before; the purple-haired one who had shown up out of nowhere. Normally Richter would have been at little miffed, but he could only smirk at the situation. Yes, the mercenary had skipped out on any after-battle labor, which Richter would admit was far less enjoyable than actual combat, but Theian had forgotten something. He just missed payday.
"Yes, I guess you're right, that does end his contract," agreed the High Officer, stroking his beard and nodding. "I'm still not really sure if we lost anything or not..." Shaking his head, he looked up at Lyar. "Anyways, I have to deliver this envelope to the treasury in order to get my men's salary. You can come with me and tell me more about you and your brother on the way there." Richter turned back to Clair. "You should come with me too. I'm sure it would be smart for my Assistant Officer to be with me for the first paycheck."

Clair watched Lyar, puzzled. Hadn't this man seemed like he'd been dropped on his head from a pegasus as a child?... Apparently not. Clair supposed that all the events of the day before must have clouded her thoughts.
So Theian had skipped out using the wyvern rider. Her anger rose at the Sacaen mercenary. She was frustrated at him for leaving Commander Abend. The High Officer was fighting to end all wars, and here this swordsman, hired seemingly out of the blue just left. Clair's anger simmered at it, but Richter didn't seem to mind so much. If he didn't mind, then she wouldn't make a big deal of it either, but it was still maddening.
"Yes, High Officer. I'll come." She wouldn't mind hearing something about this strong man and his brother Mavick. Mavick was a new tactician in the army serving Richter. The new tactician, rather. As to the other, Clair had seen Lyar moving crates and such the night before. It was clear his muscles were real. In addition, it probably would be good for her to be there when the payment was given. It would at least let her observe how this army dealt with such things. She'd be by later to check on Corona. The stable hands would keep plenty of water available, and take care of the other needs. If they didn't, Assistant Officer Feldsky would make sure they did in the future.

OOC: The following contains big words from Lyar and some remarks about his own stupidity as told to him by Mavick.
IC: "Yes Commander Abend." Taking his place at Richter's Left side as they headed over to their destination, he stretched his arms and cracked his knuckles, before looking over and down a bit to the swordsman," My younger brother and I are of a merchant family. I was born in Bardon around the pirates and sailors of the area, hence my former profession, whereas my brother was born in the bustling city of Ostia, where he was, well...more learned than I...brother said I fell down our family's stairs multiple times when I was a child, also said that affected my learning capacities." Big words from Lyar...he must have hoarded them away whenever Mavick spoke or something.
" Then our father died in a horrible merchandise transport incident during a bandit attack...got run over by his own horse, poor thing got frightened so. Later mother died of illness, and we had to sell the large house...Though after some time, Mavick found me a job wrestling people in a big circular place where people were always shouting, and we got a house, and then..." Lyar droned on and on with many details that were hardly necessary, such as about his many (often times violent) excursions outside on the high seas, and of some raids on the shores of Etruria...nothing politcal mind you, just his job...well maybe it was somewhat political, but didn't really concern him: he had two mouths to feed after all.
"...and sometimes mavick smacks me across the face whenever I do something he finds idiotic or when I tell other people private details about him, such as how he didn't learn to use a proper restroom until he was- too much...sorry Commander."

Richter listened to Lyar speak, then waved his hand dismissively as the axeman begged pardon. "No need to to apologize," replied Richter. He didn't mind Lyar's long rant at all. He admired the blue haired man's strength, both of character and body. "Your past is quite interesting, to say the least. Quite a bit of traveling." He paused. "You and your brother have done a lot together. You must be close..." Richter's mind shot back to his sister. They had been close, very close, but such a gap existed now. If he went back, would it even feel like he'd gone home? Or would she just remind him of the life he used to have? His past. He put such thoughts out of his mind.
"If you don't mind me asking," continued Richter, "the whole..." The High Officer waved his hands, as if trying to conceptualize an object he just couldn't think of, "...dim...thing...is that normal? Or is this? You seem to be awfully clear headed right now."

"Dim thing sir?" a pause here, before a grin went across his face," Ah yes that. I like to pretend that I am...well, you know, as Mavick is, despite how he seems, a rather protective little brother, and well... he has a superiority complex of sorts...so if I act as if I have a few scratches on the axe, he'll be happy...otherwise he's just a short angry little man...well not really...he is much smarter than me, what with that giant library of his before you all burned our house down...but again, superiority complex." he let out a hearty laugh, and gave Richter a thump across the back, before mentally chastising himself," Pardon me Commander Abend, I will make due to keep myself from such physical outbursts and mockery of my new colleagues actions in the future...excuse me for a brief moment" When they exited the stables, he keep his smiling face on, albeit over exaggerated, taking a detour from Richter's side and peaked into his and his brother's tent," HEY BROTHA! WAKEY WAKEY! NO TIME TO BE LAZY!" he feigned an attempt at a rhyme here to get back into character, before dashing back to Richter's side with a slight hop in his step. It was back to business.
OOC: I thought that Lyar was a bit too stale...that and I had introduced him as pretty intelligent, then he dumbed down as he spoke to Mavick longer when he got home, so I figured this would be a pretty funny thing to do.

"YOU'RE ADOPTED!" Mavick shrieked, tossing a small assortment of objects at the giant through the tent flap. Inside, the little tactitian grumbled to himself, the red in his face dying down. "Could have just wakened me like a NORMAL person!" he snarled to himself. "He's such a hapless idiot..." he then let out a sigh and calmed himself. "But then, he's my hapless idiot...Ahh Flux it..." he grumbled.
Poking his head out of the tent, the rest of the shaman soon came after. Stretching out, he looked around for his overgrown brother, and paused to see him alking to their new employer. His face got red again, but for a different reason. "IT'S NOT TRUE!" he shrieked, somehow finding the ability to leap up and latch onto the back of his brothers skull. "YOU TOLD HIM EMBARRASSING LIES ABOUT ME, I KNOW YOU DID!" Lyar was right. Mavick was just an angry little man.

Morgoth woke to yelling. " HEY BROTHA! WAKEY WAKEY! NO TIME TO BE LAZY!" Someone said. And then he heard Mavick say: "YOU'RE ADOPTED!" What? Morgoth then realized that he was on the ground. He sat up and noticed he was beside a tent. Why am I by Mavick's tent? Did I fall asleep here? Morgoth then remembered that he had thought that if he waited all night until Mavick got up, that maybe Mavick would train him.
Morgoth got up and walked to the front of the tent, and saw Mavick yelling at the bigger blue haired man that was Mavicks brother.
"HI?" Ow, oh man my neck hurts really bad. I should just kill Mavick find someone else to train me. .... But where would I go?

Clair listened to Lyar's explanation about his "dim" act. She was astounded at what he said. She questioned his reasons, but if he really wanted to do that... well, she supposed that was up to him.
The following event, when Lyar woke Mavick up, was quite alarming. Clair watched with wide eyes as the robed tactician leapt up on his brother. They both seem very eccentric. Clair thought to herself. As she spoke out, trying to calm down the hyper brother. "Calm down! Your brother was merely informing of us your talents, Master Tactician." Honestly. If these guys were to be in the army, they'd have to show at least a certain degree of professionalism.
Morgoth said hello in a questioning manner. Perhaps he was questioning their behaviour too...
OoC: Heh, this could have some interesting responses from Mavick or Lyar...

Lyar laughed a child laugh, before grabbing Mavick's leg with one arm, and pulled him off his back, setting him unceremoniously on the ground," Yes I was! Was tellin' them bout that time where I got you stuck on the roof of our house! I also told them about that one dream you had when you were tall, strong, had blue hair, and were incredibly smart! oh wait- that's me! Ha ha!" No longer facing Mavick, he gave Clair and Richter a brief wink at his reference, before turning back around to see the black haired man with creepy vibe (you know that creepy vibe that you got from Mavick when you weren't being whacked upside the head?) who had arrived:
"HELLO THERE! I HAVN'T MET YOU BEFORE CREEPY GUY!" Lyar decided not to use one of his patented bearhugs in this situation, just because Morgoth kind of creeped him out, but nonetheless he was of their ranks, and thus would have to treat him with some respect, while also putting on his act for Mavick.

Richter shook his head, shrugging his soldiers. This was really unprofessional, especially for a mercenary. Unlike soldiers, mercenaries were hired on a more tentative basis. They're purpose is to bolster numbers more than it is to actually increase the overall talent of the army, thus, they're easily let go. Because of this, contrary to common belief, the best mercenaries learn to behave better than the soldiers of the army, adopting an extremely professional demeanor. Apparently these two hadn't gotten the memo. Actually, save for Aleth, nobody he hired did. Richter might need to look into that next time he thought about hiring someone.
Other than making his observation, Richter just stood back and let his men interact. They really weren't in any hurry.

Plopping onto the ground, Mavick breathed heavily for a few moments as he regained his composure. His face returning to its proper color, he stood up and dusted himself off. "Ahem...Yes, well, I apologize for that." he said, mostly to Richter. Lyar couldn't feel it anyways. Hearing a familiar voice, Mavick slowly turned around, as if dreading what might be there. Seeing Morgoth, he quirked an eyebrow. "Are you...Are you stalking me?" he asked. "Because if you are, it's starting to make me feel...akward."

Morgoth stood there for a second, bewildered. Stalking? Well, I better get this over with. He said all I had to do was ask... I just hope he doesn't ask me to say sorry or get on my knees to beg. I WILL not do that EVER!
"Umm.... will you train me? You said all I have to do is ask..." Morgoth shuffled in his uniform.
