Gwen gave a little sigh as the armored soldier sat down next to her. As he did, she immediately got her foot ready to stomp his, assuming he was another one of the pigs from her unit. But, then something weird happened. Something Gwen had never seen before. He ignored her. She noticed his eyes weren't on her, like so many of the others around him, but focused up front. She actually smiled a little. A soldier who cared, who knew? She played with her bracelets absentmindedly at this point. She thought quietly for a few seconds before speaking. "You know, I don't think I've ever seen you before." She gave the man a smile. "I'm Guinevere."

Rayl paused as the voice spoke to him, though realized it was doubted anyone heard his voice in this church before, so he turned his head to examine the speaker. She was Beautiful, he would admit this. She wore a pale pink dress that seemed to highlight her skin in such a way...he was at a loss of words to say, as he moved the hair that was over his eyes so to get a better look at her," Nice to meet you, I"m Ray-" he paused again. His name may have been well known and loved by the Lycian people...
...but to Etrurians, he was one of the most hated heretics of the era...
"Ray, the name is Ray. I'm a messenger from one of the other High Officers..." he then turned back to looking forward and around the church. Despite the ruin all around it, this church had managed to stand tall, and was ornately decorated for such a far branch...hmmm he'd better assurt his rouse more, as he turned his head back to the woman known as Guinevere," It is a lovely day, yes? Truly St. Elimine and her Prophet are smiling upon us!"
...the amount of mental strength it took to keep from hatred seeping into the word 'Prophet' was astounding...

Before he could move and react, the rider of the flying horse had fled on the back of her winged steed. It was quick, first she gives away her lance and then she was off without them even having a chance to do anything about it.
"I guess so." Aidan sighed and lowered his lance. He plopped down on a nearby large rock, like the blue-haired man had done. He wasn't angry, or depressed or anything like that. If anything he was annoyed. I just wanted some help getting back to Bern. I didn't think we'd be held up by the Etrutian army, and a dragon... Then we can't even stop a simple pegasus knight from escaping, a simple DISARMED pegasus knight at that... Then Rayl suicides into the army, possibly causing problems for his entire country in the process. It would of been wiser to just of turned around and avoided this whole... thing. Aidan grumbled to himself silently, burning a hole in the grass ahead of him with his gaze.
He looked at the blue haired man and supressed another sigh. Oh gee, I was so looking forward to being a hostage too. Also, we don't need to hear you complain. He wasn't particularly mad, just agitated about this whole mess.

Guinevere gave a little smile. "St. Elimine, sure. But the Prophet..." She sighed. "I hope you'll excuse my frankness, but I've never really cared for him," she said in a low whipser. "Please don't think ill of me for thinking so, but there's just something about him that gives me the shivers." Gwen started to choose her words carefully. She didn't want to offend the messenger or get herself into trouble. "My family is a big supporter of him, but me... I don't know. I'd rather leave religion to others and just worry about being a soldier, but what can you do... I mean, even Commander Richter's here. Plus I get to dress up, so I don't complain." She gave a little giggle at that. "But I doubt I'd even be here if not for the Commander. He's why I joined in the first place. He's a great man if I ever saw one. Now the Prophet..." She shook her head and fell silent. No need to get herself in trouble. She'd probably said too much already. She just prayed that he wouldn't report her.

As the woman finished speaking, Rayl let out a sigh, smiled, and spoke himself" Good...I was trying not to say anything about The Prophet...quite frankly I'd rather not not have anything to do with him but that's what happens..." she was alright, this Guinevere...much different than the propaganda stereotype he'd been so fixated on...no wait, that wasn't fully true, he didn't rely on the stereotypes of modern Etrurian, he was always just focused on hating The Prophet. He then put a hand on her shoulder,"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me if mine safe with you...Commander Richter huh? I used to know him personally, was once a mercenary...he really went high into our ranks, huh? I'm not too sure why the Prophet would trust someone of the background as much, what with the book that one man wrote mentioning him...what was his name, Sir...uhhh..."
Rayl mentally smiled at his own words here, referring to himself in such a way made the situation oddly more...exciting...wasn't sure how to explain it, but...

Hassan emerged from the wall, looking angry as ever. "Marcus! What a bloody mess you've gotten us into this time!" "Hassan, I can explain..." "You don't need to! I've been watching you this whole time! And what's is you haven't even been listening to me!"Hassan said, adding a snarl at the end. "You haven't been talking to me at all!" Marcus said without turning his head. "But I have! You just haven't been listening!" Marcus tilted his head towards Hassan. "Begone, before someone hears us." Hassan growled a little, but backed into the wall. Marcus turned his head back to the front of the church.

Gwen let out a small sighed when Ray promised to keep her secret. She had taken quite the risk speaking frankly like that, but didn't regret doing it. It was nice to find someone else who felt the same way, even moreso it was someone who wasn't trying to hit on her. She was a little shocked to hear this man had known Richter personally, but didn't ask about it.
At his last line, Gwen shushed him. "Sir Rayl," she whispered softly. "And you should know better than to talk about him here. You know that many of the soldiers would love to be able to kill Rayl, and they're not fond of even hearing his name." She looked around quickly to make sure no one was listening in. "But I agree, it's weird. Personally, I feel like Ritcher and that Rayl should be running things, people who want things better for everyone. But what can you do, it's the world we live in I guess."

Rayl couldn't help but smile at her unknowing compliments of him, and would have laughed if it hadn't been for fear of them being overheard," Indeed...however, this life is ours to live in, and it is the people who have to rise up and change the world for the betterment of themselves and the whole of humankind." he wasn't sure why, but he wanted to talk to her a bit more about this...that woman, Clair, said that she was part of some sort of group against The Prophet, and seeing as they had the same goals, he'd do some scouting out to see who is on what side...so far this Guinevere was a decent person,"...So you think well of this Rayl? What would do if you met him?"
Somewhere behind him he heard someone muttering, as if they were having a one sided conversation with themselves. He looked back, as did people behind him, until some eyes fell upon some black cloaked man...odd...well war does affect some more than others...

Marcus had turned around as Byron tried to talked to him. He was headed to the church, and Byron chased after him. Marcus got in the church before him, and Byron got trapped behind a crowd. He noticed some people he say before, and thought about saying hi, but stopped himself because they would just scowl at him and walk away. Byron managed to squeeze into the back. Byron looked around and saw Marcus talking to someone, but no one was there. He figured it was Hassas, Hazan, or... Hassan... That was it. Byron walked over making sure not to be noticed. Marcus was looking up at Ariston with a glare. Byron figured he was planning something.
"Marcus!" Byron whispered loudly. "What are you doing? If you're planning something, I want in." Byron said as he looked at Marcus with a puzzled look.

Marcus froze up. Byron was right behind him and had heard him talking. "Oh, nothing Byron. Just going over something in my head. However, be prepared for anything. News is Richter isn't happy with this army. But keep that quiet." Marcus turned to look at his friend. "I don't like the sound of this Prophet. What do you think?"

"Attended an Etrurian mass, complete with insane and flaunted zealotry" isn't something I want on my resume... Kyro had no choice in attending the mass, however; Elias had come, had seemed so excited about it while he prepared, and Kyro had needed time alone to commit Officer Richter...Abend's to memory. The wyvern rider thought he had heard the last name somewhere, but with his memory as good as it was, he doubted it had been more than a fleeting mention or reference. But once the mass began, something served to distract him when a soldier sidled in at the last moment. Standing at a the back a short distance from the door, Kyro could be counted among the few that noticed. After sitting next to the female soldier Kyro had noticed dozens of men ogling rudely at, the newcomer committed a small miracle in itself by essentially ignoring her, staring at the person on stage--Kyro neither knew nor cared who it was--with attention that suggested not rapture or the dutiful looks of a couple of the soldiers, but a shrewd attention that could only be seen by those that, like some of the members of the Bernese military, had seen the looks thrown around by diplomats and petty nobles. This one seemed to have intelligence and intent behind it, though, so Kyro sidled over and put his keen ears to work.
What came next interested him more than a pack of Eliases. And that contained another miracle. Two soldiers, Etrurian soldiers, speaking of the Prophet in ill terms in the middle of a mass? Commander Abend's influence either spread far...or the Prophet's command of St. Elimine's name trembled and weakened even as he preached. A momentary distraction appeared in the form of the dragon talking to himself, but the two soldiers were quickly the subject of scrutiny once more. He heard the name Rayl...now that struck him as familiar...right then, Kyro decided he needed to know more. One part reasoning and two parts whim led him to walk over, set himself gently into the seat on the other side of Guinevere--so he had heard her called, he remembered--and remarked, "You know, I've heard non-Etrurians could be tortured in terrible ways for conspiracy against the Prophet. Imagine what would happen to Etrurians." Simultaneously, he flashed the small flag he carried that marked him as part of the Bernese army, well-known for its use to determine traitors and spies. Oh, Elias, you have no idea that the real adventure will start outside of the sword and spell...the real fun is watching it all start.

Guinevere pondered for a few seconds before answering. "I think he's one of the good guys, whoever they are. If I met him..." She shugged. "I'm not sure. I guess thank him. And if it were surround by this lot... I guess I'd protect him." It seemed like a good idea and it was true. From what she knew, Richter and Rayl were once friends, meaning her Commander would probably protect him too. Then a small grin appeared on Gwen's face and she looked around again before speaking in a whispered. "Maybe I'd even give him a kiss. I hear he's not too bad looking." She giggled to herself at that, she was silly. Besides, why would a knight like Rayl want a kiss from a lowly soldier. He probably a wife by now anyways. From what she understood, he was fairly well known in Lycia and many woman probably like him. Oh well.

A robed man? Here? Wearing black and red? He was totally stealing Elias' thunder! (Or fire, since it's red and much cooler then thunder.) He was even talking to himself to get attention! That was low, Elias only did that when he was bored. Not for attention! Oh well, it didn't matter.
However, he did notice a familiar face. It was Captain Kyro! Hurrah! He hadn't abandoned Elias like a change of dirty socks. It was taking an awfully long for anything to happen, so Elias decided to do something. He weaved in and out of the crowd, he couldn't really see from his spot anyways. The guy in front of him was freaky tall or something.
He made his way out of the sea of gray like a red boat on a sea of gray. He snuck up like a super high level rogue and decided to listen on what the Captain was talking about. Maybe it was him? Why not? Elias was cool, and it was fun to talk about cool things. Instead he got an earful of torture talk, maybe the people Captain was talking to were talking about cool things...

Rayl had to hide a smile at what she spoke of. She was attractive, he'd admit that, and she was a nice person...what was he saying?! Now wasn't the time for such thoughts! However, the knight couldn't help turn to her and say," I don't know my friend: you are quite beautiful, if you don't mind my saying...and I'm sure a guy like him would like your personality." a shrug here, before a man began speaking to them: he had heard?! He was slightly nervous, until he saw the Bernese flag Kyo held, and relaxed, having shown no change of expression through this encounter," Indeed I have heard these things...however we had best keep away from such discussions of the Prophet when in a place of this sort, now shouldn't we?"

Guinevere nodded quickly. "Now is most certainly not the best time for this. We can always talk afterwards. We don't want to be rude." She said with the hint of a smirk. As she turned back to the front, she blushed slightly. A knight like Rayl, liking someone like her? That and her new friend had called her beautiful. She didn't know why she was blushing at that, dozens of others had called her that before. Maybe it was because he was a decent guy and it meant more. Oh well, now wasn't the time to dwell on it. She settled in and watched the front of the church, waiting for the main event to begin.
