Storming the Bandit Hideout

[Selibas]

Selibas and company had walked for some time. Selibas could see what he thought was the ideout. Well, he had see a lot of places he thought would be it, and none of them had been it. This one seemed different. Selibas made his way to an formation of rocks in a strange hill. There was a slit in the side with a door with the interlocking COD symbol. Obvious. Selibas said, "It'd be good if we stuck together." He gathered himself, and the little mercenary kicked the door open pulling out his sword.

[Synkkis Kyyneltya]

Synkkis was barely paying attention to Selibas. His eyes were scanning the texts, running through his tome as a last minute "study session". He didn't want to fluke on a spell when sharp, pointy things were being directed at him. If he did his math right, 'pointy' equaled 'bad'.

With Selibas' great sense of stealth, of course everyone inside was alerted to their position. Perhaps this diversion would be beneficial if Scarlet could find a way to sneak in from behind, which he was sure she was to do. Actually, he didn't know where she went, though she did say she had a plan of her own. Somehow she had a way of bypassing the man's better judgement. Those eyes would be the death of him if he were any more weak-willed to her charms like Selibas.

"Right behind you. I am absolutely positive that there will be a bit of laundry work after this! Hah!" Synkkis said with a change of tone from what his body language showed. This was merely his way of distracting himself more than it was to crack lame jokes to annoy his companion.

[Selibas]

Selibas ran into the cave. He was happy tro find a large room. Well he was happy due to the fact it was lit by torches mounted on the wall. He wasn't particularly happy about the two brigands playing poker at a nearby table. The men simply looked at Selibas. Selibas simply looked at the men. One man goyt up grabbing his axe and begun trotting to Selibas.

Selibas looked around, there was no place that seemede to tactically lend itsef to him. There was one path out of this room, So Selibas stood his ground. The man was lightly armored, and carried a steel axe. He swung at Selibas, but the swordsman sidestepped. He brought his blade against the brigands back, then the tip okunged into the man.

[Selibas]

Selibas whipped around, pulling his blade out of the man. Lucky he did, the other man from the table had gotten up, and Selibas managed to block the blow from his axe in the same motion. The man was an idiot, he could of sounded the alarm and the chance of Selibas triumphing in his mission would dwindle.

Selibas quickly hit the fighter in the ribs. The mans armor was thick, and Selibas was met in his ribs with an Iron Axe. Selibas was luckily moving away from the strike on instinct, so he only received a minor wound. Selibas brought his blade up in an uppercut, but the fighter moved and he missed. This guy was good, Selibas could use help, but Synkkis wasn't here yet.

So Selibas threw his blade into the air and jumped to meet it. He grabbed it and fell resting his weight on the blade. The man tried to move back, but while leaning back to keep Selibas in view. So the mans chest was where Selibas' sword struck home. Selibas fell to the ground on one knee, he rested for a few seconds, then he got back up. Time to move while his adrenaline was still pumping.

A stealthed man jumped out of the shadows towards Selibas, dagger drawn. However, before he could strike at Selibas, Synkkis casted a flux spell at him, knocking him back into a pile of timber and mud bricks of the unfinished reinforced wall. The Ilian was lucky with his attack however. He wouldn't be able to cast another quick enough before the man attacked. Synkkis braced himself for the man's attack, quickly speaking the phrases.

[Selibas]

Selibas saw Synkkis take down a thief. The man got up and ran toward the pupil. Selibas jumped in his path and swung at his stomach. The man jumped back however, then came again slashing toward Selibas' throat. Selibas blocked the blow, the small dagger thrust out of the mans hand. Selibas heard Synkkis muttering his spell and before he struck this man down, he kew the pupil would need a target. Seibas reached out and grabbed the man, spinning him so the two were facing Synkkis. Selibas shout, "Him, do your thing on him."

[Synkkis Kyyneltya]

Synkkis let loose a cascade of elder magic onto the thief who was unable to dodge. The dark energy encircled the man and crushed inwards. The sheer might of the attack ruptured the man's organs. The man died with blood seeping from his mouth.

"I suppose he will not be questioned later?" the dark pupil chuckled. "One, two, three... How many are there again?"

[Selibas]

Ooc: I'm going to have us take out eight, then the rest will surrender, because the guards will show up early.

Ic: Selibas lifted his head, "Thirteen, that makes, nine left?" The Sacaen didn't want to admit it but like all knowledge save the blade and simple speech, he didn't know how to count or subtract very well. But, that didn't matter now. The city militia was sending a group of guards, because he had actually told them. The only problem was he needed to get to the main chamber before they arrived.

So Selibas ran into the other room. It was a good thing he was decently fast. A piece of plywood behind his head was stuck with a shaft of an archer, who had heard the Scuffle. Then a buddy of his, once again two guarding a giant room for some reason. a simple mercenary came toward Selibas. He swung his blade to high then easily ducked under it. Selibas darted by him, hoping Synkkis could take this guy for now. He was going to take out the archer.

The archer lifted his bow, about to shoot. Selibas kicked a chair up obstructing the mans view. By the time the archer would be able to aim, and fire, Selibas was too close. Selibas dispatched the lightly armored archer in two quick hits. Then he ran over to try and help the pupil. The mercenary had evidently followed him, and a Selibas turned he tripped over the chair he had kicked. When he looked up the man held a sword pointed to Selibas' neck.

[Synkkis Kyyneltya]

A flash of dark energy sparked next to the mercenary, yet the man dodged. Synkkis had missed his initial attack against the man. The pupil ran in a semi-circle in an attempt to get the mercenary's eyes off of Selibas. "Pay attention, lout! Too slow?" Synkkis taunted.

He started to conjure up another spell, muttered underneath his breath. This is what Synkkis signed up for. It was a relief to escape the mundane. Hell, he wasn't even sure on how many times he used his tome now... or better yet... how many people he's either crippled or killed. He could reflect on it later.

Speaking of later, where the hell was Scarlet? Knowing her, she probably took the starting pay and just left town.

[Selibas]

The Mercenary standing overtop of Selibas sighed. He missed his family. He mised his snowy home in Illia. Now he was here in Bern about to kill a boy who was about as skilled as someone who had just passed their tests to become a military Mercenary. He was torn on what action to take, do nothing, or kill the boy. He decided his honor wouldn't sit well. He turned and sprinted toward the pupil, who was actually armed.

The Ilian's eyes shone as his diversion worked, the mercenary averting his attention from Selibas. He didn't see everything that happened, but he was hoping his companion could jump back into the fight.

However, now Synkkis was an open target. The mercenary was closing in too fast for Synkkis to be able to keep him off. It was now up to his reflexes to see if he could manage to dodge the man's attacks in order to get his spell off.

The man swung with great efficiency, yet the bit of supplementary armor Kyyneltya had on his shoulder deflected the swing as he dodged. He got in another slash, this time it hit. The blade slashed across Synkkis' outer-upper left thigh. The dark pupil did what it took to shake off the blow and not loose track of his spell. He let loose his spell with a flurry of sparks and opaque blackness.

Yet he missed. 'What!? I missed!?' the thought raced through his mind as he prepared for another attack in a defensive stance. "Neffe'mind, yer scharp vit zat blade!" the white-haired Ilian spoke in his accent, wincing from the attack. "Zum Teufel da mit!"

[Selibas]

The Mercenary was surprised he had missed. He had heard the Mages who weilded Elder Tomes were slow. No matter. This one still held his weapon, and therefore his death was not a stain on his honor. So the Mercenary shifted to a defensive stance and slowly stalked toward the Pupil.

But he had miscalcualted as he was tackled from the side. Selibas rocketed into the man. The Feral wolf he was, in a rage. Selibas was not himself, he had killed three men, but it wasn't enough. The Little Wolf remembered his battle in Nabata, and the enemies who had looked to harm him. They needed t die. So he said to the man, "Nothing personal." Even though it was. Selibas flipped his hand, and cut the mans throat.

The Sacaen stood up and said, "Thanks for the assist." He started to leave, but then turned back to the Mercenary. He placed his hands on the mans eyes, and closed them. This man had fought with honor. Selibas bowed his head, then left.

He ran into the next room head first as usual. The men here had prepared themselves, a mage cast thunder to come and hit Selibas. Damn that hurt. He felt like he had been hit by a bull, but set on fire at the same time. But he tried to keep moving, as did the brigand running from him across the room. They met in a deadlock, the smaller Sacaen's iron sword meeting the iron blade of the taller Bern man. The mage would be the Death of Selibas if he didn't get help from Synkkis.

Synkkis followed in behind Selibas, thankful for the help. Though, Selibas wasn't really acting his usual self. There were some things he still didn't know about the young mercenary. He had been travelling across Elibe for longer than he had. Even so, it wasn't his position to prod him for useless information. Especially in combat. With a silent knod, he followed Selibas into the next room.

Synkkis was well prepared this time, making sure not to miss. Those were the only times he missed attacks and they were both twice in a row. That mercenary back there was quick, but not smart enough to have won. He had shown Selibas mercy which killed him. His weakness was his honor.

The thunder mage was a beautiful sight to behold. He knew he could run circles around mages all day if he wanted to. Their studies put blinders on them. Sure of his attack hitting the mark, Synkkis exerted himself into the might thrown into his opponent. The mark on his hand glowed with an other-worldly dim light. As he felt the energy compress and expand, there was no missing this attack. Without hesitation and with a little bit of bravado for glory of another kill, he casted the flux of elder magic at the unlucky mage. The darkness erupted from the dark pupil's tome and spilled towards the colorfully dressed bandit. The ink of elder magic crushed into the novice thunder mage, crushing the young man's head. He looked about 16. Shame. Or not. It didn't matter to Synkkis in the slightest.

Synkkis spied from the corner of his eye the combat between Selibas and a much larger man. The purple cloaked illusionist was sure his companion could hold his own until he was able to assist.

[Selibas]

Selibas and the brigand had their weapons locked. Selibas was the weaker of the two, so he needed both hands on his blade. So when the man punched him in the stomach, he had no way to defend himself. Selibas was sent back falling to his knees, his iron sword skittering away. So Selibas pulled the Slim Sword on his back out of his speed. One thing abut the tiny Mercenary, he was pretty balanced for strength, speed, and most things to be honest.

So Selibas stood his ground as the brigand charged again. Selibas sidestepped the blow and as the man tried to plunged his axe at him, Selibas sliced the strap holding his armor on his left shoulder. The man moved back trying to avoid another hit. Selibas felt his chest swell with confidence. Selibas leaned forward and tapped both his foot on the ground and his sword on his shoulder, taunting the man as if to say, "I'm waiting."

So the man ran toward Selibas in a feral rage. Selibas threw his blade high into the air, and jumped at the perfect moment. He fell slicing in a curved motion, so that he fully sliced through his shoulder down to his heart. Finshing the hit was critical. Selibas was back in his rage, his adreneline at an all time high. He rubbed his vulnerary where he had been sliced on the ribs, feeling the pain from the lightning go away.

Selibas smiled, "That's Seven." He then ran into the other room, seeing an older Myrmidon sitting on the ground with his blade on his knees. He stood and said, "You killed my son in Nabata, Little Wolf. An honorable Sacaen, wouldn't keep his healer at his back. Fight me one on one." While not a healer, Selibas was offended. He turned to Synkkis and said, "He's mine, take time to rest." The Wolf lunged at his opponent.

Synkkis was amazed by the raw display of skill and strength Selibas showed in his execution of the burly brigand. The Ilian was going to use some of the vulnerary that he carried to heal his leg-wound, but it wasn't grave enough for him to worry. Before he could even get a good grasp of what was happening, Selibas already charged into the other room.

Following behind, he saw a grimly middle-aged man speak in his own raspy tone towards Selibas. For some reason the two knew each other and he spoke of Nabata. 'Nabata? I had no idea Selibas was in Nabata. I thought he was in Sacae the whole time with the whole "oh let's take over the clan" bit. Huh. Interesting.' he thought.

Synkkis wasn't comfortable with Selibas fighting alone, (hell, he might get killed and then he'd have to fight and run his way out with still many more bandits at his back) and it was wasting time when a quick victory could be attained. However, Selibas would surely have no exceptions. It was like a game.

"Fine, fine. Have fun dancing with your blades and scabbards. I'm keeping my eye out for..." He almost finished, yet he didn't want to reveal her with the enemy in ear-shot. "...foul play."
