She turned to regard Hal with mournful eyes, disappointed in how blind he could be to the obvious truth. "I dunno, his eyes look pretty dull to me." The psychotic wall gecko of a girl shrugged, already uninterested in the subject, or at least not wanting to argue with the only person who actually got her. Not that that stopped her from ensuring she got the last word, of course. "Maaaaybe he's not a dead guy but those eyes hold all the spark and wit of a... a wet... exploder thinger. So I don't see the difference."
Satisfied with her explanation, certain that it was now so blatantly obvious even Hal would understand why this guy was obviously a dumb sucky zombie, she barreled onwards without regard for anyone else. So this... Abel. She stared at him with the eyes of a hawkowlbear for a moment before deciding he really was trying to atone, though still suspicious. "Yeah, well, I know that Illya and Bern are, like, way far away from each other. And what have you been wondering about ever since, anyways? I'M ON TO YOU."
Unfortunately, no one seemed to be paying a lot of attention to her since the zombies were back and really sucky and not even pretending to pay attention to her. Elesia sighed, pitying them for how dumb they were, and launched herself into a screaming fireball at the closest one.
They went down together, both thoroughly on fire, the struggle illuminated and obscured at once by the emerald flame, but gecko powers won out over dumb powers and the Wyld mage emerged from the charred wreckage mostly unscathed a few moments later, save for what looked suspiciously like zombie skin hanging off her fingernails. "I'M OKAY."

Civil war, two sides fighting a war from the same land. It pitted father against son, brother against brother, friend against friend. It tore families apart and ruined bonds between villages and Abel, an Illian of all people, supported the rebels who started this war. Hal had sided with the Illian ideals that was implemented in Bern, why would Abel betray his country like that? It took everything Hal had not to ram his lance in chest and now he insults him like that.
"Because of you bastards I had to fight my own people. I had made a friend my age when I signed up, she joined sides with the rebels shortly after then. I LOST SARAH BECAUSE OF YOU!" Even if Abel didn't help start the revolution he helped them at one point and that was enough for Hal to put the blame on him. Abel had stretched his hand out to help Hal up, Hal laid there his breathing becoming heavier as he grew more angery. Hal drove his foot upwards looking to kick Abel in the family jewels.
Sol could hear anger in his young master's voice, if he was going to be in danger Sol was going to be there to remove him from it, with force if need be. A split second before he dove upon Abel something caught Sol's eye. It was more of them creatures that didn't fear his fierce talons and fangs, he changed his direction towards them. Sol would slam into the building before he's get close to them so he banked upwards and perched upon the roof waiting for their slow shuffling to bring them out of the ally.

Abel didn't see what happened next coming. He sided with Ilians? Abel thought. Hal Made a shot for his groin, and Abel began moving backwards to escape. Too late.
"Ah," Abel gasped, falling to his knees, in sock and confusion. Lost a friend? he thought amongst the pain. I've lost friends... He moved his hands to protect himself, letting go of his sword. He tried to fight through the pain, clear his head.
Abel broke through, and was able to get to his feet, bend with the pain. "You lost a friend," Abel spoke softly. "I've lost friends." He grunted. "People die, Hal. Revolution's happen. I chose to help the Bernese because they wished for freedom. Ilia has not been harsh to them, but when someone has known freedom, they can't just look past that fact and accept ocupation. People deserve freedom if they wish it.
"I'm sorry about your friend, but she chose her path. Everyone does." Abel limped away from Hal to give him space, and turned to find one of the zombies he had just cut down right in front of him. "Crap."
OoC: Sorry about the sucky monolague, the past brings up Abel's terrible characterization.

He fought for freedom? How the heck did he know how it was to live under constant fear of a forced draft under a tyrannical king? When he allied himself with the bandit king the raids of some villages had increased due to nobody stopping them. Hal's village was one of the lucky ones that dodged both arrows. The people of Bern didn't see true freedom until Sacae and Illia liberated them from the chains of oppression left by the king.
"There's no freedom under the rule of a tyrannical king. Illia has done more for the people then he ever has in my life time. Sarah and I shared a dream, to become wyvern riders and soar across the skies." As Hal spoke he rose to his feet, Hal opted to go for his lance at this moment. "It was never a war for freedom, it was for greed!" Hal took a couple of steps then dove for Abel, aiming to tackle him.
Sol had started honking trying to alert Hal and the others that more of those things were coming, noticing Hal wasn't paying attention Sol would have to take matters into his own claws. The first one had came out in the open, Sol jumped off the roof falling towards it clinching his talons on it's shoulders and he kept his fall slamming it into the ground hard. The next one had sunk it's brittle teeth into Sol's wing, screeching in agony Sol bit it back. They almost had him surrounded now, how could he be so careless? He started to whip his tail around as he tried to shake the one on his wing loose, he couldn't take to the air with him like that.

Aaaaand Hal and dumbface mcsuck were arguing about stuff that, though she would rather chew off her own toenails than admit, Elesia had absolutely no idea about. She could definitely understand Hal not liking an evil zombie no matter how much they talked like a real live people, but whatever they were arguing about was entirely beyond her. Also, Hal wasn't paying nearly enough attention to her. She eyed the still-burning zombie, briefly hoping it would be helpful enough to bite her or something so Hal would ignore the other person and come help, but was distracted by Sol emitting a sound soomewhere between an air raid siren - whatever that sounded like, she had no idea - and a goose - what was a goose, anyways?
...Ooh! Zombies!
Completely forgetting her previous train of thought, the psychotic gecko lady got a running start before hurling herself through the air with roughly the grace and poise of a limbless parapelegic bear, landing kind of sort of on Sol's back, ish, with a grip as soft as... something pretty soft. She was unpleasantly surprised to find that mounting and flying a frenzied wyvern was actually more difficult than she had assumed it would be. Which just proved that Hal was even more awesome than she had given him credit for!
with a war cry every bit as coherent and deep as the usual, which translated to her screaming "GET OFF MY RIDE DAMMIT" while slapping the zombie clinging to Sol's wing with flaming hands of fury while trying desperately not to fall off of a somewhat displeased Sol, Elesia laid into her new task with gusto. Also, slight panic - which led to her eventually headbutting the zombie right the hell out of Dodge. Damn but she was awesome.
That was when things went from bad to worse.
"AND STAY OFffffoh god Hal help HEEEEEEELP I CAN'T DRIVE THIS THIIIIIIIING."
[tl;dr I'm guessing Sol went apeshit at that point but he's your dood Hal so leaving what he does up to you as much as possible.]

"Well I fought for freedom.... heck I don't know why I fought," Abel said, sidestepping away from the zombie so as to avoid being hit by it. I just wanted something to live and fight for, he thought. Hal flew by, clipping Abel causing him to fall on his butt. The zombie got a face full of Hal.
"Look, just because you lost a friend doesn't mean you need to take it out on me," Abel said, trying to get to his feet. "Besides, I'm guessing since you're here and not there, you've left it behind and don't want a part of it. So why are you attacking me?"
Abel got to his feet. He heard Elesia yelling. "It sounds like your friend needs help. Why don't we talk about this later, if ever?" He took off, limping a bit as the toll of today's events took hold of him, to find his sword.

Hal went shoulder first into the zombie, he sat up on his knees around it's waist. It threw a claw at his chest, it was as if time slowed down as he watched shoot towards where his heart was he let out a low panic scream as it clanked against his armor, out of fear he threw a left hook catching it in it's empty eye socket. Oh sweet non zombie deity he had that armor or he'd be done for.
Sol's lqeg muscles clinched up as he felt the weight of something plop into his back, she screamed at them fearless meat bags must be boy who ride companion. What ever she did it got the one off his wing, side swiping everything to his left with his tail to returned the favor and bit it back, biting clear through it's arm. Oh wait boy, he was weak and frail he need... they called him Soil? Ah screw it, me is what they need! Sol took off towards Hal as he was flailing his fist like a tree in shifting winds at the zombie.
Sol's talons wrapped around the shoulder armor and pulled Hal away, another stroke of luck. Sol had dropped him off near his lance then swung around landing next to Hal, he rose to his feet picking up the lance and using it for leverage, man fighting in this metal was a lot more tiring than leather like he had before. He faced off against the new group approaching them with fear, how many were there? Did they have enough strength to fight them all off? "I'm sorry I forgot about you two, think we can take these and more on?" Hal had began to sweat more and more, a cold bath will feel great right about now.

"Run, Reork!Aeros--Reork, he didn't know WHAT to call himself anymore--had dreamt this one before so many times; ever since he had first "recovered" his "memories," his mind had cycled through an endless kaleidoscope of them, changing between months, days, sometimes seconds, as often when he was awake as when he slept. He had set out from Richter's company hoping to make some sense of his life, believing that he finally had a place to start, an escape from the existance that seemed so dull and hollow when he remenisced about his time with the army...but now... This time was interesting, though. Whereas every other memory change had simply occurred as an especially vivid dream, this one seemed monochrome; the intensity wasn't there at all, and Aeros could almost feel lucid as the dream "Eryk" was decapitated by an unseen ha- But when he woke up on his rafter, the sensation went from interesting to very, very wrong. The manakete had wandered from town to town for months now, with the current town holding his record stay at just under a month. At least, the kindly family that sheltered him had said it was a month, while a few times the memory shifts kept him asleep for far longer than was natural. Now the sense of wrongness was starting to bother him, so he dove down from his sleeping place, adapted to the jump so well that he no longer needed his wings for stability. It seemed far too quiet downstairs, while there were a few muffled noises coming from outside. Treading lightly down the stairs, Aeros looked around for the family he had come to know fairly well-- And found the source of the encroaching darkness ripping up the scattered belongings. It was, simply, an animated corpse, complete with pale grey skin, a slack jaw, and a disgusting smell, all put to use shredding random wood fixtures. Apparently sensing the new arrival, however, the walking-dead-thing slooowly turned to the manakete and, without pause, began to shuffle forward. Aeros fully expected to be shocked; as time had passed, he had found it increasingly hard to sink back into the attitude that had carried him through battles in the past, even going hungry several nights when he couldn't bring himself to fight for food. Instead of fear or even revulsion, though, he felt anger. No, rage. This thing was wrong, disgusting, bad, horrible. It had to be eliminated, so the manakete did the only sensible action that came to mind: Once it came within range, he punched the corpse through the opposing wall. And that shocked him. What? was his first coherant thought and, he realized, the first thought he'd had since waking. The oppressive aura in the air seemed to have dulled his reasoning; even now, he could feel all of his logical faculties shutting down in what used to be a familiar process, readying himself for battle. His dragonstone was already in his hand, glowing as he used its energies to enhance his own, toughening his body as he had practiced without expectation of use. No! He couldn't just lock down like he used to! While he used to find stability in fighting--it was one of the few things he was good at, after all, something he knew--the manakete had felt a sickening hollowness whenever he had needed to fight, whenever he faced that lockdown... And, importantly, the Watcher family he had been staying with seemed to be missing, possibly lost in the battlefield Aeros could now see through the hole in the wall. Of course a battle probably meant people, and people didn’t typically expect an apparently ten-year-old “human” to punch a zombie through a wall. I’ll figure something out, Aeros decided as his zombie opponent stood again. He had explored the town enough to realize that using his full dragon form would be impossible; there was no guarantee that every house would be empty of innocents, and while this odd rage would hold him against the undead, collateral damage would weigh on the manakete’s conscience for…well, probably forever, if his memories held out. If he hoped to survive—while keeping any traces of subtlety—Aeros would need to join the crowd fighting straight ahead. There was a battered, but mobile, zombie in his way. No matter. Drawing a little more power from his dragonstone and focusing it on offense, Aeros sprinted forward, drawing his arm back and ducking to avoid the undead’s imposing claws. He had little experience with actually fighting in his human form, but he had used it enough for other things (and, apparently, was angry enough) that he had confidence in his attack… …which meant that he didn’t expect the deceptively fast attack aimed at his face just as his own hit connected. The new arrival’s shot went just barely under Aeros’s eye, striking reinforced flesh hard enough to leave a bloody gash. Whirling away from both zombies, the manakete instinctively readjusted his course to go slightly wide, taking in a troop of two revenants joining the first, which, inexplicably, was still intact after the two heavy impacts. Whichever part of Aeros hated these things, it was not happy at leaving one intact in favor of joining the crowd of fighters; the other parts of him, pacifist or not, decided that said part was stupid, and he was soon standing just beside the wyvern he had seen earlier. ((My first post with Aeros in, over a year, and I get to punch a zombie. My life is complete. ))

Abel knelt to pick up his sword. A crack? he thought, running his finger lightly across the blade. That's not good. He suddenly realized he had ditched Hal, leaving him with a zombie. He turned to find the wyvern, Elesia on board, standing by Hal. Well, that works. And then he saw the zombies.
"Um, guy's," Abel said, trotting over to them, fighting through the pain his aching body posesed. "Would now be a terrible time for my sword to be breaking?" He put the sword in it's sheath. "So what are we doing now? I'd say your the leader of this little group Hal."
Thank the heavens Elesia is here, Abel thought. She's the only reason Hal broke through his anger. He probrably would have done his best to kill me, and after the wyvern attack, I couldn't have held my own. That and the cheap shot.

"GOD DAMMIT WHY WON'T YOU STUPID DUMB THINGS DIE WHEN I SET YOU ON FIRE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO STOP IT NOT KEEP MOVING!"
Elesia plaintively wailed her frustration to the world, straddling a spread-eagled zombie while punching it in the face with her SHINING FINGERS over and over, trying to get it to stop moving. Emerald light glittered through the dusky town, interrupted only by the arrival of something - even more weirder than the zombies?
Hopping off the still-barely-moving walking corpse, or rather everything-in-body-broken-but-still-animate corpse, the confused mage stalked towards the source before recoiling as a completely unfamiliar scent hit her nose, something... vaguely like Sol, but... not. She froze, fight or flight reflexes tuned to 11, but managed to not attack the boy(?) that appeared shortly thereafter, staring at him with suspicion she made no attempt to hide in her eyes.
-But he was not a zombie, and he apparently shared her joy in punching them in the face, so suspicion was met by a tacit sense of approval, neither of which could she actually understand. But he didn't seem to be able to unhinge his jaw like a snake, or at least maybe he just hadn't yet, so Elesia just stood there awkwardly, waiting for Hal to figure out what to do.
"Haaaaal. I don't think he's an evil zombie. And he likes punching the stupid dumb dead things, so he can't be that bad."
She shot a dirty look at the green-haired man, daring him to go back to his vile, zombie-ish ways. He may have fooled Hal, but she was on to his chica... chicna... bad plans.

Hal had ignored what Abel had said, he wasn't very high on his 'people I like' list. Inching closer and closer to Sol at a rapid rate he remounted him. These things still scared to no end but he couldn't allow that to prevent him from protecting Elesia who seemed to enjoy fighting them with her fist. Suddenly another one came flying from a wall, oh god they're showing their true strength busting down walls. It had hit the ground with a roll, did it charge through? No, Hal had now saw a boy standing on the other side of the wall, did he hit it with enough force to send it through a wall? Was it even possible?
Something about all these people showing up struck Hal as a weird event. He was unsure if Abel was in town prior to the attack but this boy seemed to be since he was inside a house. Then there was that woman, she was fleeing those monsters and before she was clawed down by one she had shouted out for them to help 'us'. Everything from there happened too fast, Hal didn't get a chance to think about anything, possibly they sent the swordsmen out to search for her or it's very possible they heard Sol's screeches and figured there was reinforcements? Hal began to tug on the reigns to take Sol towards the new boy, maybe he'll know what happened here and if there's any other survivors.
Sol was very reluctant to follow Hal's command, he wanted to fight but gave in, all that tugging was annoying him. "Elesia, follow me." He finally spoke up. With a short glide Sol had made it to the house with a hole in the wall as Hal commanded. "Excuse me... Do you... Know... What happened... here?" Hal had prayed to any and every god he could think of, even made up ones just in case, that this person was friendly. In the meantime the zombies had shuffled towards them at their slow rate, they were half way across the courtyard they have been fighting in.

Aeros was seeing everything: houses, enemies, obstacles, enemies, and even some of the enemies that were shambling their twisted way toward him. He hadn't felt this alive in such a long time, ever since...well, he couldn't think of a "since," but he felt ready to unleash as he had never before.
Naturally, the manakete nearly jumped out of his skin (and did let out a very non-draconic yelp) when the wyvern he had approached began talking.
It took him a few shocked seconds to gather that the wyvern was actually a mount for the speaker. Recovering as best as he could, Aeros tried to piece together a response. "What...happened?" Did he have any clue whatsoever what happened? All that mattered was the zombies that needed killing, the corrupted, disgusting pieces of fil--
Aeros ignored the stupid part of himself again. "I-I don't. I just woke up, and that thing was...in the...house." The house with the giant gaping hole, which, the manakete realized, had been made in plain view of the courtyard. "Um, I...think..." How was he supposed to explain that? Yes, he had revealed himself like an idiot to Crowley's group years ago, but, looking back, it was just about the most blatant, ignorant thing he had ever done. He had even less of an idea if these people were enemies than he had with his first group, and...
Those zombies were getting really close, so Aeros decided that his stupid-part had a point. "Can we sort those out first?" he asked the wyvern rider, gesturing jerkily to the oncoming enemies.

Everbody seemed to be ignoring Abel, and Elesia had shot him a dirty look. What is with these people? he thought. We're in the middle of a battle and all they can think about is how I'm suspisious! What does it matter that I came out of nowhere, I'm helping them, aren't I? Normal people would accept the help and then figure out who's who. And who are they talking to?
Abel moved around the wyvern, hearing "Can we sort those out first?"
"Thank you!" Abel said, as the man came into view. "That's the smartest- AEROS?!" Abel was suprised. He had only met the dragon once, long ago at Eric's house. Him and his orange haired friend had rescued Eric's father, Manuel, from bandits. "Thank Emilie! We could use you. But where's your friend? Tuatara or whatever?" The moan of zombies reminded him of their problem. He drew his sword. "Uh, now would be a great time to transform or whatever you call it. We've done little to them, the wyvern's been keeping us alive. And my sword has a crack in it, I'm not sure how long it'll last." She's crazy and he has issue's, Abel added in his head. He had a fierce look in his eyes as he looked to the zombies. I will not die.
"Alright, let's go," Abel said, charging the horde. "Let's cleanse this city of evil."

Abel seemed to know this newcomer, Aeros seemed to be his name. By the looks of it neither of them knew what was going on, just as clueless as Halesia. "There's more people here, we need to find them." Turning back he saw the zombies were closing in on Elesia, pulling on the reigns Hal turned Sol towards her' "We should split up and look for them." With a tug Sol took off and landed next to the girl, Hal yanked her on the saddle in front of him and took to the air. "There's more people... I think, we need to save them." The trio began to circle the town looking for any sign of living people.

Welp, the new guy looked clueless and worried, which she could empathize with very well. Not that she had any idea why - maybe if she and Hal WEREN'T there to be heroes then he might have reason to worry, but as it stood everyone was as safe as... as... like something that was super duper safe. She strode up to the newcomer, Airs or whatever the zombie person had called him, and patted him on the shoulder with a fearless gaze. Or possibly a clueless one - she didn't really concern herself with the petty details. "You're cute." Pause. Beat. "I mean, obviously not as cute as Hal, but up there. Punching the dumb dead guys works really well for us real men who fight with our FISTS and our SPIRITS!" She leaned in a bit, her voice lowering by very, very little; the idea of whispering had not yet occurred to her. "And watch out for zombies pretending to be people. You can't trust them. They have denied the greatness in their spirits, and so they deny their POWER."
Satisfied that she had imparted great wisdom to her new friend, Elesia pirouetted in place and scampered at the speed of fast to her waiting steed and noble knight, vaulting onto Sol's back with an appreciative growl. Or maybe it was a warlike growl, because they were about to ruin someone's FACE. Some dead undead guy's fac... wait. Why were they both dead and undead? It seemed like they should be one or the other, but they certainly weren't alive, so they had to be dead, but they weren't unmoving dead, so they weren't DEAD dead. Did that actually make them alive again?
She scrunched her face up for a moment while pondering that dire question before remember that she could be throwing fireballs. As Hal searched, Elesia occupied herself by launching fire and brimstone - or at least the fire part - down on the town below, shimmering, oblong spheres of emerald annihilation raining down on anything moving.
They were prrrrobably all zombies anyways.
