Sol like the girl on his back, she could throw fireballs. Why couldn't the boy? Any rate as she threw them past his face he would snap at it as if he was shooting them out, it made him feel like a dragon. As they were gliding above the town searching for non-smelly humans Sol enjoyed the wind against his face, when he wasn't pretending to be a dragon.
Elesia was sitting in front of Hal, he was having troubles seeing where they were going due to her hair being blown into his face so he tried to lean over to the side a bit. Elesia had started to bring down the rain of fireballs upon anything that looked like it moved, Hal had one hand on the reins and the other around her waist, he started to grip the girl tighter in fear of her falling off. Before he knew it he saw a very large group of them pressed up against the gates of the largest house in the town, the ones in the front was reaching as if they could reach the home with their arms. "Elesia look over there." Hal pointed over towards the group of zombies "There's an awful lot of them, maybe that's where the people are."
Somebody inside the house must have spotted them overhead, now Hal could see half a body sticking out waving a bright yellow cloth as if they were trying to get his attention, circling down Hal landed Sol in the courtyard. He was snarling and hissing at the zombies. "Elesia, stay with Sol. If anything happens I want you two to get away from here." Hal grabbed his lance and slowly approached the door to be greeted by a man. "Uh.... He-ll-o..." There was something about this man, just looking into his eyes had intimidated Hal

"Yyyyyyes. We will do exactly that."
There was, of course, nothing in her deadpan delivery or eyerolling as soon as Hal's head was turned that betrayed Elesia's complete untrustworthiness or plan to do exactly the opposite of what he had asked. Not a single blessed thing.
Which was why it was a complete surprise to everyone when, the instant Hall dismounted and approached the house, a ghostly apparition of alabaster and emerald streaked like a bat out of hell off of Sol, vaulting to the top of the wall surrounding the estate as fast as her rebelliousness could take her. Which turned out to be pretty fast, actually, given that she very nearly overshot and launched herself headfirst into the mass of stupid dumb dead people.
Man, they were ugly.
With a single surreptitious guilty glance at the hopefully-oblivious Hal, she plopped down atop her new perch, staring at the teeming throng of those lucky enough to see her in her full and radiant glory. The two opposing armies - Elesia counted herself as at least a full army, maybe two - stared at each other for a moment in silence broken only by the moaning of the damned, before she broke the silence - which wasn't actually all that quiet - herself. "...Man, you guys are ugly. And dumb."
Moaaaaaaan. Grrrrrrrrrr.
"Which is why I, in all my magnman... mangan... good personuh, ness, am going to give you one chance to stop being sucky before I murder you with the fires of JUSTICE. And burning!"
For some odd reason, none of them seemed to be particularly impressed. Elesia waited a few more seconds, hoping for a little more of a reaction, and was disappointed to find that the most she got out of it was one particularly ugly fellow trying to grab her feet and drag her off the wall. "HEY. NO. TOUCHING." An emerald flash illuminated the throng for a moment before dying down, a single fireball no match for the entire group.
It was enough to burn the dumb thing's hands off, though, which got her thinking - what if there were more than, like, one or two balls of fiery doom? What if they were like raindrops, falling from the sky? What if she could do that?
"Hmmmm." She stared at them some more, as though it might offer inspiration, and lobbed another ball of fire into the air, a chartreuse mass that was cyan by the time it finished its lazy arc and impacted on some dead woman's hair, setting her gloriously on fire. Even if she didn't seem all that discomfited by the development.
Elesia frowned, staring at the moaning moron while continuing her train of thought, forcing herself to try to think lokigall... lorgenical... smartly. So she pulled the strand of essence... and... fire. There, fire. It was a lovely shade of lavender this time, for no particular reason she cared to consider, but pink was a cool color anyways. Not as cool as green, but not everything could be green, or she wouldn't be as amazing in comparison.
So... if fireballs were, like, magic made into a circley thing, how did she turn them into a bunch of circley things? The walking catastrophe kicked her legs against the wall, punting one particularly agile failure in the face when it limply tried to leap up at her. Which gave her another idea - what if she could make her legs be ON FIRE and kick with the FORCE OF HER SPIRIT - but that was for another day. And by another day she meant the exact instant she figured out the first problem, because kicking zombies sounded really fun, and figuring how to get back up to safety would be a task best reserved for when she actually needed to get back up.
Hm. Congealed. She was proud of herself for remembering it for a moment, then went back to being pensive. She hadn't exactly understood most of the big words in the textbooks she had found, but they had talked about how Fire was, like, a glob of congealed magic or something. She didn't know anything about how other mages did it, but for her it was more of a... feely thing, of seeing a strand of essence and pulling it and making it be on fire. But it wasn't exactly tough, just... attached to itself.
...What if it got pulled it apart?
Her eyebrows still scrunched up, Elesia set to work, trying to pull apart something that wasn't solid while not actually tearing the entire thing apart. Weakening it. maybe. Or something. The mass of flame changed visibly as she did so, transitioning from a single coherent mass, the entire thing changing colors together, to a chaotic maelstrom of clashing colors churning throughout the larger, vaguely spherical mass; it still held its general shape, but even without looking at the essence comprising it she could see how the bonds had been - weakened. Probably. Hopefully.
After staring at it for a few more seconds, Elesia experimentally lobbed it into the air, cocking her head to the side as it arced upwards before disintegrating at the apex of its journey - where one brilliant rainbow orb had been, a thousand split off from it, tiny glimmering particles raining down o nthe crowd below, leaving nightmares and global devastation in their wake.
Or at least setting fire to a lot of things. It was kind of like the exploding fire things at that celebration Hal had taken her to, Elesia realized, where she had expected them to rain down and kill everyone, but anything that came down was too small to be a real threat, and wasn't explodey or really on fire either. Still, her experiment had been fruitful; each piece of the original fireball had still been, well, fire, so even if the zombies hadn't exploded most of them were on fire now.
On fire, and looking for fire hugs.
Also, they had broken through the gates while she was experimenting.

Having been around an orange-haired midget thief with severe kleptomania for several years, Aeros was completely surprised to learn that the green-haired (what was with all of the odd hair colorings?) mage was the single oddest thing he had ever met.
Or remembered meeting, at least.
The exchange on both sides had been so odd that the manakete didn't notice as the mage and knight--Hal?--left to go look for survivors. However, he did recover in time to see that the advancing zombies were...well, not advancing.
More fool them, then. Refusing to be caught off guard again, Aeros gave in to what he decided to call his "anti-undead instinct," and began a tactical assault on the nearest opponent, with the tactical goal of beating anything undead and evil into the ground or itty-bitty pieces, whichever occurred most satisfactorily.

Sol watched as one of them non-spineless creatures reach up for the fireball girl, he felt as if she needed to be saved. With what seemed as a single leap Sol soared over the fence landing atop a zombie. Taking a bite out of one's arm another scratched at his face. Sol turned to the attacking and let out a loud screech, his hot smelly breath blowing into it's face didn't effect it at all.
"If you're going to speak do so on one knee boy, or did you never learn respect?" Hal shot him a confused look, who was he and why was he act like he was so important. "I...I'm so...orry si..-" the man's tone had became even more malice then it had seemed just a second ago "If you're going to speak boy then do so, cut this stuttering crap out. We don't have all day here, heck we don't know how long that gate will hold out." Hal had thought of turning back and leaving with Elesia and Sol, but they had to play the heroes again. "My name is Hal, and I'v-" "I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO ADDRESS ME ON ONE KNEE! Why the hell did Etruria send just a boy on a wyvern with his little girlfreind to save me, I swear Kraft has lost his mind." This man was full of himself, he started down the stairs towards Sol. Hal could see a scared mother with her child in arms, it looked like she was trying to reach out to Hal. It was then when he realized this man didn't care what happened to this village, the people, or even Halesia. His only concern was getting himself out alive and unharmed.
The man had made it to Hal in matter of seconds, he wasn't going to take Sol and flee. Hal wouldn't let him think of touching HIS wyvern, taking the other end of the lance in his other hand he placed the rod into the man's chest and gave a great push taking him to the ground. It was as if Hal was a warrior heard of in legends, pure of heart and awaken by fury. "You're not getting anywhere near Sol as long as I live. The first ones to make any escape are women and children." Sol's sudden screeching caused him to turn around to see him almost neck deep in zombies, either he didn't listen to the stay command or it was Elesia. It didn't matter at this time, they were going to have to deal with them sooner or later anyways or it would become a disastrous repeat of the town they were in last. Hal brought his hand to his mouth and placed his fingers on his lower lip and whistled to get Sol's attention and it worked.
The wyvern took to the air long enough to clear the fence and landed in front of Hal, mounting up he then directed him to one of the large post in the fence near Elesia. It had been either something Elesia had said in the recent days, what Abel said to him earlier, the look on that woman's face, or a combination of all of them but it caused him to feel as if he was a shield of the weak and the lance against the wicked. "Cover me." Fear had struck Hal once again as he faced down the real danger, he could look brave when staring down that man but when it comes to these creatures he couldn't muster courage to look strong. Sol jumped down grabbing a zombie by the head and slammed it to the ground as Hal pierced another's arm with his lance.

Abel realized his mistake quickly after charging. First of all, there was to many zombies for him to take, especially if his sword was on it's last leg. And no one was helping him. He stopped, and caught Hal's order's as he turned to see what was going on.
"Right," Abel said as they flew off. Why didn't I think of that? People first. Aeros moved after the zombies. "Hey Aeros, you keep these guy's occupied while I search the houses." He made his way into town, sheathing his sword.
Abel began making his way between houses, a few on fire; searching every nook and crany before hurriedly moving along. Are there no survivors? he thought as he left another house empty. There's not even any bodies. He had almost made his way to the far end of town when heard a cry come from a nearby house.
"HELP!" a child's voice cried out.
Abel rushed to the building. The door was locked, so he kicked it. It budged. Again. It rattled. He kicked it one last time, and it gave in. The door thudded to the ground, kicking up dust. Abel didn't wait for it to finish it's bouncing, he immediately strode in, sword in hand. There was a little girl in the corner, about four or five. Her knees were pulled up against her chest and she was crying. There was two zombies lumbering toward her.
"No Mommy! No Daddy!" She cried out, tears streaking down her face. "It's me, Fate!"
"Close your eyes!" Abel commanded her. No child should have to see this. She looked surprised, but slammed her eyes shut. "Don't open them until I tell you to." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He opened them, and leaped at the zombies. The zombies had no chance. Heads rolled as Abel grabbed the girl, holding her in his left arm and laying her head against his shoulder.
"Keep your eyes closed," Abel said as he rushed from the house. He turned to regroup with Aeros, but found the way blocked. Not good, he thought, taking in the vista of the zombie hoard.
"Can I open my eye's yet?" Fate asked, her voice quivering.
"No," Abel said, turning and running toward a large estate. "Fate, can you reach into my right pouch and hand me the bottle inside? I'm Abel by the way." He slid his sword into it's scarbard with a click.
"Here you go," Fate said, moving about so that she could reach his other hand. "Where are my parents?" Her eyes were open.
"I had to leave them behind," Abel said. She began to cry as he pulled the cork out of the bottle with his teeth and spit it out. He then chugged an opaque liquid from the bottle and dropped it. Using both hands, Abel slung Fate over his shoulder and began to book it as some of his weariness began to fade.
The was a brilliant flash of light ahead of them, and yelling that sounded strangely like Elesia. What now?

"NOW WE'RE COOKING WITH GAS!"With a triumphant shout, Elesia lept to her feet, pausing only to awkwardly dislodge a severed arm from her left shin by kicking the air in the general direction of the zombie horde until the rotted fingers broke their grip. "I'VE GOT A HANDFUL OF VERTA... verbalti..." She trailed off, hesitant for a moment in a sordid departure from the enthusiasm of a moment before before shrugging and continuing. "...BONE THINGS AND A HEADFUL OFoh mother fu-"The emerald catastrophe broke off again, this time due to the more pressing concerns of having been dragged off the wall bodily while grandstanding. Probably for the best, given that it was unlikely that she had been about to say "oh deary me" and, she realized in a moment of dreary clarity, that Hal's virgin ears couldn't have taken her amazingness anyways. For better or for worse, there were even more pressing concerns rapidly developing, such as the minor issue of her now rapidly sinking into a sea of stupid dead people, all of which wanted to eat her, and the wall was really, really far away. Elesia had absolute faith in her flawless athletic ability, but even she was forced to accept that her incredibly amazing feats of agility would be slightly more difficult if held down by a bunch of dead people, or if she were outright missing her arms. And legs. And torso. And head. All in all it was a surprise to absolutely no one when a chartreuse gale of light and sound erupted from the dreary morass of fetid brown and vomit green, yet another Fire spell down the drain in a last-ditch attempt to give herself time to think. Even in the horrible clustercrapstorm of fail she found herself in, Elesia found time to continue her debate from a few moments ago, pleasantly surprised that pulling the spell apart entirely didn't always make the explosion fizzle! Granted, she was pretty sure that distributing the force of the spell uniformly around her had weakened the immediate impact enough that it would do very little real damage, but sometmes a girl just needed a moment to think. It would sure be nice if she could just high jump kick her way out of there, though... Elesia stared thoughtfully at the closest zombie, pitying it for its dumbess for a split moment, before realizing that there was no time like the present to do something really stupid. Another detonation of fire and force surrounded her, but rather than expanding outwards, it seemed to rotate, a cyclone of living flame that encompassed the wyld mage in flickering hues of dark orchid, even as the rotating sphere began to compress, slowly focusing more and more energy downward. -And then a jubilant Elesia popped out, screaming - either out of excitement or soul-wrenching horror, she wasn't really sure - as she passed by Hal in a lovely hyperbolic parabola as turqoise hellfire encased her clenched fist... presumably to punch the nearest zombie in the face. She disappeared into the seething mass of (un)death in another explosion, her incoherent screech dissolving into triumphant words that rang through the damned down with the force of an avalanche. "I AM ELESIA! THE SWORD THAT CLEAVES EVIL!"[Cough music]

It was like a rising sea of the dead the moment Sol landed, they reached for the boy and the wyvern frantically. Batting wings and tail swiping Sol had done his best to keep himself from being overwhelmed by them, Hal had the lance to poke at them to help him. Sol had screeched at one of them before darting his head towards it biting it's face off, normally when he did that they would fall to the ground dead but not this time. It had returned with a left claw to his scaly face only to receive a horny headbutt. Hal had repeatedly jabbed his lance into one's chest, it wouldn't stop coming what gives? ELESIA! Hal heard the girl's battle screech, was she trying to take after Sol?, as she went flying by punching a zombie right in it's freakin face.
Has the girl truly lost her mind? Wait a second, when Hal told her to cover him he expected her to make it rain upon these creatures, not jump around punching them with fire. Well, in Elesia's defense Hal did say 'cover me' just not how. With one last well placed jab Hal had created swiss zombie cheese as it stopped moving. Maybe charging into them in this manner was the worst idea, Hal could fight from above but Elesia refuses to fight from a distance. The zombie Sol had headbutted had fell to the ground, he finished it off by stomping on it's faceless head and crushing it. Hal turned to Elesia and shouted over the moaning and groaning "Are you doing okay? I can have Sol get you to safety if you need it."

The manakete never heard Abel leave; he hadn't really noticed the myrmidon from the start, and now he was completely consumed by the chance to rid the world of these atrocities that would dare exist on this or any other place of existence let alone in front of him he was going to take them apart and show them what it meant to be in pain.
None of this came out of his mouth, of course, since Aeros settled for the more succinct, "GRAAAAAAA!" as he dismembered yet another undead menace. By this point, he paid little heed to damage he was taking and dealing, just so long as he was giving damage.
These concerns were abruptly brought to his attention when blood flooded into one eye.
Jolted from his blind rage, the manakete stumbled back several steps until he bumped into an enemy, causing him to swing wildly as the monster groped for him with uncanny speed. He continued to bat at anything that moved, half-blind, until he finally collided with a wall and collapsed.
No. Despite having finally found the source of the blood--a small cut of the kind that had no right to bleed at all--Aeros panicked, and made a decision that he hadn't made in quite a while: he transformed.
It was an odd feeling, and, as he reared up onto all fours, it took him a piece of a moment to figure out that he had, in fact, missed this form. He still could not feel complete, but that was a moot idea when the soulless masses before him now looked considerably less imposing.
Especially when he walloped the nearest one over a house. Even if it survived, the dragon decided, it was the thought that counted.
And he had many more thoughts for this bunch. Inhaling, Aeros released a gust of air that knocked over several of the zombies before leaping forward and beginning to dispatch them, tearing into some, bowling over others with his new bulk, and generally carrying on the same as before, with the added benefit of very thick scales.

Abel was now close enough to see what was going on. Not good, he thought, seeing lots of zombies. He thought he caught a bit of blue green amungst the horde. Oh no! They'll need help. The sound of moaning from behind reminded him of his predicament. I can't bring these zombies to them, we'll die for sure. The was some kind of roar in the distance. Aeros!
Looking side to side, Abel searched for a way back. Ah! he thought catching sight of an ally way. He charged off, something scrapeing against his shoe. He looked back, finding the zombies closer than he thought. They've goten faster?
"Hold on," Abel told Fate, taking off as fast as he could. The alleyway led down a straight path, buildings on each side. As he passed a window, something broke through and crashed to the ground behind him. It was another one. Not good. He continued to race to to the other side of town, dodging zombies as he went. Several minutes passed.
Huffing and puffing, Abel shot out onto the main road. He wasn't far from Aeros, he could even see him. Whoa.... he thought as he caught sight of Aeros. He had seen the dragon at least once before, and it was no less awe inspiring. He shook his head to clear it. Not now.
"Mighty Aeros, we could use your assistance!" Abel called out, being chased by a gazillion zombies. He had forgotten Aeros didn't like being treated as an all powerful being. Fate turned her head from the zombies and caught sight of Aeros. She palled. "It's ok, he's on our side."

"NO. OFF. SHOO. BAD DOG. ZOMBIE. THING. OW. STOP IT."
It was a testament to Elesia's impressive lungs that she still managed to make a noisy nuisance of herself while being dogpiled by zombies, but then that was nothing new. The noisy bit. The zombie dogpile was definitely new. And heavy; pressing from all sides, even confused at what was going on in their midst as sudden detonations of flame erupted among them.
Which was all well and good in that she hadn't been eaten yet, but Elesia was keenly aware that even stupid dumb dead people would eventually figure out what was going on, and then they were devour her and she would live forever as a disembodied vengeful ghost haunting Hal, and - hm. Maybe that wasn't a great plan, as great plans went. And who was groping - oh. Right. Zombies.
Caught without a plan, Elesia turned to her specialty, which was to say doing something retarded while yelling really loudly, generally combined with setting something on fire.
"ENERGY LEGS!"
All in all, it was a surprise to absolutely no one when she popped out of the throng yelling at the top of her lungs about kicking them in the face with her energy legs, which were actually normal legs, not that Elesia was likely to admit that to anyone else, used as the foci for point-blank Fire spells. And kicking. It turned out to be slightly harder to gracefully run atop a sea of zombies than originally planned, so she ended up settling for another explosion-assisted kickjump to land on Sol... and Hal. Flopping off him into the least uncomfortable position possible, she blinked, the volume of her voice only slightly diminishing as it took on a more rueful tone. "OKAY. BAD IDEA. LEGS HURT NOW. I WANT TO GO HOME."

Hal leaned over and grabbed Elesia's wrist as he yanked on the reigns to take Sol into the air, he could feel Sol jerk trying to lift off a couple of times before becoming air born. Elesia wanted to go home, where was home exactly? Sol flew back over the fence on his own and landed, Hal knew he must have been tired from all of the fighting. He had let Elesia's hand go, the girl laid on the ground as he dismounted Sol while the man had approached them. "What are you doing, get back over there and kill them kid." Sol had began to let out a high pitched screech while flaring his wings up, Hal noticed he was looking to the sky and saw that he did. A dragon, Hal was caught in fear, confusion, and in awe at the sight of the once though gone creature. The remaining members of the village who were able to get here for safety were standing in the courtyard in awe of the beast in the air. It was hard to tell if any of them were panicking especially after what has ravaged their town and on the other side of the gate.
"The gate won't hold long, we have to do something." one of the villagers proclaimed. Looking around it seemed as if nobody could fight, Sol was tired and Elesia looked like she was down for the count too. They had to admit defeat before it lead to their death and that man was right. Hal had worked in the mines for a couple of years then spent so many doing other hard labor jobs, he thought he had pretty decent stamina the adding in the fact Sol did most of the work he knew he still had some fight left in him, but he was unskilled in fighting. Everything he learned after the first battle he was in against the rebels had faded from his memory, these things weren't exactly fast though... He could hear some of the children crying now, a low roar of the crowd talking in a panic some thinking this was where they were going to die.
The armor would slow Hal down, while it provided a small shell around him it wouldn't do much if he was swarmed by them. He knelt as he removed his armor setting it next to Elesia, he had hoped she'd listen to him this time. Hal began to look her in the eyes, he spoke with a slight tremble of fear "I need you to do me a big favor. Stay here and protect Sol, don't follow me. I'll owe you big time if you do this for me." Hal stood up and lead Sol to the fence away from the zombies, they were too busy sticking their arms through reaching for everybody pushing against the gate. Hal climbed Sol's back and then the fence only taking his lance. A couple of them noticed him and started to speed shuffle towards him, Hal made a loud whistling sound which got more of their attention, like the others they began to charge after him.
What the hell did I get myself into? rang in Hal's head as he turned the opposite direction and began to run, he took only a second to see how many were following him which looked like roughly half of them. Hal didn't try to get too far ahead of them so they didn't turn back and go towards the others. Running towards an intersection Hal crashed into a large man. "Watch where you're goin" Hal looked at the man and the four others with him, dang they were built, well except for one who appeared didn't have a weapon. The man Hal crashed into extended his hand out and helped Hal up. "Why are you in such a rush." It was about that time the first of the zombie horde came into view. "Wut de hell" one of them spewed out. "They're the undead, they've been attacking the town." A man walked past them drawing such a large sword "f**k these mother fuckers, they're not stopping me from seeing my damn kid!" He charged in cleaving two in half with his great sword. The man Hal had bumped into took a large double sided axe from his back and followed and began to attack. "Send dem back to hell boys."
With their leader's command the other large men charged into battle, the man slightly taller than Hal stayed behind and requested him to protect him if they make it this far. Hal watched in amazement of how skilled and strong these men were. Who were they exactly and why did they show up here? The man behind Hal started to chant things Hal couldn't understand, when he stopped speaking the air had felt dense as a lighting bolt had crashed into a small cluster of zombies. Hal turned back to see the man flipping the pages in his book then he began to chant unknown words again. Hal had felt the air around him heat up for a few seconds as the man raised his hand towards another cluster of zombies, turning his head to see what would happen as the man clenched his fist the air had exploded in a large ball of fire.
The man with the great sword turned towards him flipping him off "What the f**k you doin, trying to burn off the last of my hair?" It had seemed these men had no troubles cleaving down what used to be humans, then one last zombie had come shuffling out. What seemed to be their leader had dropped his axe upon seeing her "Ana... What happened to you?!" he took a couple of step towards her reaching out, it was then they had actually looked at the monster they have been carelessly cleaving. A lot of them were formerly people they knew, Ana had began to charging with claws stretched out and jaw hanging open, moments before she could wrap her dead fingers around his face a lance went wizing past his head right into her eye socket. There was a moment of silence before it was broken by the one who threw the lance. "It was you or her, you don't look like you've been rotting like these things. But you do kinda smell like them though" Picking up the lance and his axe he walked towards Hal as he threw the lance to it's owner.
"Boy, what the hell has happened here?" It had sunk in to Hal, these men were like monsters. Only way Hal could describe most of them were ogres but he dared not say it aloud. "I....I do...n't k....now. I...I...I was lea...ding th..em away... from the... othe...rs." The man asked if there were more and Hal nodding then told them to follow. Once they made it back the men and fought off that group of zombies in a similar manner as the first group. The priest stood on the inside of the gate, he had looked furious "I thought I told you scum if you wouldn't bow before me you weren't welcome here." The swordsman reached in, grabbed him and pulled him towards the gate. "With that mother f**k*r up there we wanted to make sure our families were safe. You should be happy we saved your sorry ass." He pushed him away as they smashed the lock open. The group entered the courtyard along with Hal who ran towards Sol who was sitting next to Elesia, Hal could hear them talking with the towns people.
"Did anything happen to you while I was gone?" Hal had looked happy to see Elesia again, he wasn't sure if his stunt would get him killed or not.

Abel was running out of time. Aeros seemed to be on his own planet, and the zombies were closing in. Fire, Abel thought, looking at a burning building. He made his way over and placed Fate on the ground. "Stay here," Abel said, searching for a usable board. "Run if things get bad." He found a board about the size of his sword, it's tip on fire. "Now get behind-" He turned to Fate. She was on the ground in a pool of blood. "No..." Abel whispered, tears coming to his eyes. An overwhelming sadness began to creep over him. "N-not again..." The zombies began moving for him. They were faster than before. Why..."WHY?!" Abel screamed, getting angry. "SHE WAS JUST A KID!" Tears dripped from his face. Kasey...Eric...Fate... and him. Why? "WHY?!" He charged the zombies, anger and tears in his eyes. He bashed the first across the face and swept it off it's feet with a well placed kick. He spun, dodging a zombie and hitting another. He was slowly getting surounded. His attacks didn't even seem to faze them. Abel jabbed one in the stomach and it ignited. It fell to the ground, still clawing at Abel. He knew he needed to retreat, but he didn't care. Letting his anger take over, he screamed, "DIE YOU EVIL BAS*****!" He renewed his attack, dodging and weaving, acumulating mutiple scrapes and cuts. He came to a halt at the sound of a voice. "STOP! No more Abel!" A hulking man came out of nowhere, throwing several zombies aside with the sweep of his ax. A crest was tied to his arm, and giant sword strapped to his back. "Still can't contain that anger, can you?" The man tossed Abel a sword. "Besides, if you die here you won't be able to take care of that business you have, right?" Abel couldn't believe his eyes. It was his father. Aeros certainly wasn't on his own planet; if he had been, he certainly would not have invited the twits that he was methodically (read: viciously) pulling apart until they stopped moving. As it was, he appeared to have cleared out most of the enemies in the area, and he felt that he had more than enough energy to--
"WHY?! DIE, YOU EVIL BA--"
--be interrupted by a very distraught screech from a nearby burning house.
Dropping the mangled bits of undead that he had been toying with, Aeros turned to see that he did, in fact, have a few more 'toys' to play with, all of which seemed to be swarming around the source of the noise: a green-haired human that appeared to be beating them off with a stick. As admirable as his efforts were, the mankete determined that a stick would do little good against enemies of this kind, and was fully prepared to spring into the fray when another human--this one a hulking man with a small armory strapped to himself--apparently popped out the ground and starting sweeping aside prey that certainly wasn't his. Fortunately for him, the dragon was surprised enough at the sudden reinforcement that thoughts of retaliating were replaced by thoughts of ending the battle quickly.
And he had just the tools for that: a voice and a long tail, which were promptly put to use as Aeros shouted, "Duck!" with the former and turned to sweep the group of enemies with the latter.

Abel didn't have time to process his father's appearence. There was a great thudding in the air, an he looked up.
"Duck!" Abel just stood there, he was so confused. Marco grabbed Abel and threw them to the ground as the tail flew across the horde. Aeros made it! Abel thought. But he was too late for Fate. No, I was to late.
"It's been a while since I've seen one of them," Marco said, looking up at Aeros as he stood. A zombie moved an the ground and he hit it with his axe without looking. "And you need to be quicker on your feet Abel. It doesn't matter how fast or great you are with a sword if you can't think on your feet."
"Great job sir," Marco called to Aeros. "Thanks for the save. Might I know your name?"
Abel picked himself up from the ground, trying to ignore his father's words. He'd heard them before. Aeros took them all out. No wonder Tuatara hangs out with this guy. "Thank you Aeros," Abel called out. "We should probably find Hal and Elesia."

"I, uh-"
Pity-mongering fell to the side, Elesia subconsciously realizing that her attention-grabbing antics would be out of place in the wake of Hal's odd actions as she tried to piece together a coherent reply. None came, her treacherous throat full of - something, she wasn't sure what, but it definitely wasn't a bone so she nodded mutely and watched him dash off to do whatever it was he had to do.
She actually felt heavier. Maybe. She frowned, oblivious to a curious rippling around her as incoherent strands of magic jerked about and dissolved. Hal knew what he was doing, and she was probably safe, so it wasn't fight or flight response. Probably. Felt oddly familiar, though, sort of like trying to protect herself, but... not at her.
While the chokepoint at the gate was effective at dramatically thinning the seething sea of the soulless, the battered gate had already fallen, and they were slowly making their way through. Grumbling - her leg DID hurt, dammit, even if it was technically sort of maybe not critical world-ending agony that would demand Hal's attention - the self-proclaimed champion of bears and bearness tugged at another strand of essence, feeling the rolling reverbration through her arm as each grasping finger closed around the ethereal energy. It felt like - holding the sun in her hands, like fire always did. Natural fire was of little interest, but magic held a curious familiarity and comfort to it that she loved more than anything in the world.
Elesia silently reflected that it was probably best she hadn't mentioned that to Sol - better he didn't get an inflated opinion of himself - or Hal - he might get jealous - and sblack personed to herself at her immense wit as the dim emerald glow suffusing her erupted into a chartreuse gale, allowing herself to be carried away by the singular union with nature for an instant. She knew that she could only really manipulate one strand at once, but - to feel the slightest glimpse of what she aspired to, to pretend for an instant that she was the legendary sage she wanted to be, was a guilty pleasure that Hal also didn't need to know about.
Okay. Chokepoint. She had juice left. Maybe a little hopped up on nerves, but - Hal trusted her to protect the people, protect Sol, and so she goddamn well would. No stupid dumb dead people would hold her back.
She took one step forwards, summoning courage from stubbornness, and began to speak, her tone rising with each ground-out word.
"YOU. SHALL. NOT. PASS!"
-And then there was a glimmering cascade of light that swallowed the swarm whole.
By the time Hal came back - with new people, who maybe weren't zombies - she was leaning up against a tree in the courtyard, silently proud of herself for hiding the shaking in her knees, how very tired she really was. "Nuh!" Elesia's smile was as pure as the driven snow, or at least honest in that she was quite pleased with how the situation had turned out, mostly because, regardless of her not intending to admit as much to Hal, he and his new friends had picked a really good time to come back and eat the zombies because she couldn't have held out much longer.
But the stupid dumb people who WEREN'T dead were fighting, for some stupid reason, some very unpleasant - and probably stupid - person arguing with the sort of ok people that Hal had brought back, but who weren't nearly as cool as him. She cocked her head to the side, watching their antics with curiosity for a few moments before turning back to Hal.
"So... why are they fighting?"
