The giant let out a scream as he stabbed his lance forward and pieced through a mercenaries chest. The knight had placed his back to the wall and was using his great size to intimidate his opponents. When ever someone got the courage to run forward and try to take him out Orland made sure to either finish them off quickly, or to made their deaths as brutal as he could. He needed fear to control the battlefield. His allies were beginning to move, but at the moment Orland could only rely on himself.
"Do not fer the armored giant", spoke One mercenary as he stepped into Orland's view. He had a great sword on his shoulder and a black chestplat protecting his chest. His hands were protected by a gauntlet , but his legs and feet were left exposed. He wore only a simple pair of pants and a pair of steel toed boots nothing of defensive note.
"Come on big guy", spoke the man as he charged forward. His lack of fear told Orland immediately that this man was not to be trifled with. He swung his greatswrod with a horizontal swing. The knight now shield less was forced to block with the metal shaft of his iron lance. The knight pressed forward using his weight and pressed the man back. Orland then retaliated with a stab forward, but the mercenary quickly moved to the side and avoided the spear and launched himself into a lunging attack. Seeing very little options Orland decided that it would be better to simply tank the blow. The knight moved, but the blade still cut into his side. The wight of the sword gave it enough power to pierce through Orland's armor and do some real damage.
"Alright York", shouted some of the mercenaries. They were beginning to rally around the man, but this gain in momentum was about to end. As the blade cut into the side of Orland's armor the giant had grabbed gold of the man's risk. York attempted to move, but firm grip of the giant would not let him go free. Without a word Orland stabbed his lance through the man's chest. The lance's exit through the back of the man's body silenced the cheers and sent the enemies moral plummeting. The knight ripped out his lance and held his side. "They need to hurry up", spoke Orland.

"All right, move out!" With Faros and Marric both on Mika, Eren shot to the wall, flying low and quietly over the wall. Seeing Orland up against a wall, Eren hoped fervently that Silvia and the lance-boy would get to the giant quickly. Dropping Faros on the wall, away from the combat, Eren dove quickly and pulled up, skewering a mercenary and allowing Marric to inconspicuously slide off of the wyvern. Without any added weight, Eren was able to pull off more technical maneuvers, and he quickly spun back around, using his lance as a bludgeon to smash a foe into the earth. Mika then grabbed the poor chap in her claws, and dropped him straight over Detris's head as the Dragon Knight and his faithful mount lofted back into the sky, preparing for another raid.
"I, Eren Barrata, have returned! Can you face my power?!" he taunted, hoping to infuriate and cloud the judgement of the enemies.

Eren had dropped the archer and Marric off on the wall, he was rather subtle about it too. Few of the mercs, if any had noticed, and even fewer had begun to move to intercept the men. Marric clashed with a brigand briefly before the brigand's face twisted in pain as an arrow sprouted from his neck. The lumbering oaf dropped dead and Marric continued along the wall, Faros just behind him, spending his remaining arrows frugally. Marric stopped just before the stairs leading to detris's landing, Eren had dropped a body before the mage, and the rat-like scum-bag focused his full attention on the annoyance in the sky.
"I'll Swat you like a fly you pesky insect!" Detris screamed with fiery rage. But there was a problem, Orland, the giant knight down in the courtyard, was being surrounded. The man may be built like a fortress, but even the most well defended locations can fall. Marric debated abandoning his vendetta against Detris and giving aid to the lone Knight. Faros nearly ran into the fighter as he stopped abruptly.
"What are you doing? we could end this here and now!" The sniper asked in a hushed tone, and he followed Marric's gaze to the courtyard. "Listen, the boy and the mage will give him help soon, we have a job to do and so do they. Now get yer boots movin'!"
Marric's indecision was broken, he made his choice. The knight had just had another stroke of luck in defeating some mercenary named York, that kept the others at bay for a few moments, hopefully that would be enough for whatever boy they had spoken of and the novice mage to give him some help.
Right, let's kill this rat. Marric stated as he climbed the stairs to the landing. He had thought Detris to be alone, but some other robed figure stood with him, the man's head was half shaved, and half beastly. He was either very eccentric in his fashion, or he was very skilled in his art. Detris had taken no notice of the men until Marric's axe slammed against the stone floor. You've tortured me... You've killed those close to me... AND NOW I WILL DO THE SAME TO YOU! Marric began a head-strong charge towards the two robed men, before his collar was pulled, and a wall of flame filled his vision.
"Ain't you got any sense?!" Faros exclaimed as he pulled Marric from the flame wall. Marric smelled the all too familiar scent of singed hair and cloth. A close call, a fact Detris knew very well.
"MARRIC!!" he yelled past the flames, "I want to see you suffer... So don't die too fast! Don't you dare disapoint me!"

Samuali could clearly see the fire burning in the men's eyes. He listened to Eren's plan and heard his role. Eren wanted him to support someone named "Orland" with Silvia on the offensive. Judging by Orland's ability to "Smash them to itty bitty chunks" he guessed that the giant he saw earlier was Orland. As much as he really did not want to go back into there with the fire mage he saw the trust that was being put onto him to help with the front line and knew he could not back down. "ok, lets try not to get killed and lets go!"
Samuali moved around the fort with Silvia, and he saw Orland, pinned against the wall without his shield. Though outnumbered he seemed to be go for the moment. A broken arch above him gave him an idea. I picked up a rock and hurdled it at one of the mercenarie's head like he was hunting in the desert. The blow knocked the man down and drew some blood, though Samuali could not tell if he was dead or not. The strike did the desired affect and the attention drew away from Orland and onto him. "Silvia." Samuali whispered urgently "When they draw near, hit that arch right above that vine with your magic. It is weak enough to come down." He picked up and hurled another stone.

The cloaked shaman cursed under his breath. His fear of them using mobility to get in close was realized since Synkkis just ordered all of the reserves into the attack to crush the men on the ground. Now in this game of chess he was a bishop sitting next to the king. He either had to flank wide and support from afar or be sacrificed. The mage chuckled. "There is not any reason I'd die and end my research here for this doomed fanatic. I wonder who is commanding this group? I'd like to talk with him..."
Detris growled, "Quit mumbling and kill these pests! Marric is mine!"
In the pupil's mind, it wasn't the axeman he had to worry about. It was the Wyvern and the sniper that allowed such a bold maneuver to work. Hmm... concentrated and deep penetration into the line to attack the command and the rear. What a brilliant idea! He didn't get much time to dwell on it like he'd want to, as an arrow meant for Detris shot past his chest.
Synkkis grabbed hold of the railing and jumped over it with speed, a purple flash descending downwards to the courtyard below. He couldn't do anything against such skilled opponents but if he could strike into the enemy's weakened flank it could buy Detris some time even if the fire mage would get pissed at him later. As he landed on the straw roof of the cook's hut, his hood fell behind him revealing his eccentric haircut and hair as white as snow. With the added perspective, the tactician saw a young boy with a lance and a timid girl with a tome in her hand and further behind them a healer. That was the perfect spot to strike!
"Through the archway! Strike into the heart of their group! All available men, push through!" Fingers crossed, this had to work. Synkkis was sick of losing battles.

Silvia stayed close to Samuali, taking careful steps and glancing left and right. She'd never been in combat this brutal, but she endured. She heard Samuali's voice near her ear in a whisper, and her lavender eyes widened with pleasure at his idea. "Yes. Good thinking." She pushed the violet bangs out of her eyes and aimed her hand for the arch above, with her Thunder tome open in the other hand. A lightning bolt blasted forth from her appendage, striking the arch and sending it collapsing down onto a few mercenaries, killing them under the weight and crash. She smiled contentedly at the grim result, and closed her tome, nearing ever-closer to Samuali.
Faros routed above, as before, keeping an eye out for Detris. He spotted the mage within seconds, who was preparing a spell. At full speed, he readied an arrow and released it, aiming directly for Detris' raised arm. It missed by just a small margin, and Detris' eyes grew wide as he saw Faros overhead. "Pathetic. Die!" he yelled back as he raised his arm again, flames building in his hand. Yet another fire spell, and this one was one that Faros hadn't seen before. There wasn't much he could to but prepare another arrow and hope that this one would hit its mark and stop the attack, or rely on the intervention of another...a single bead of sweat dripped from his chin as he tensed. Another arrow was already ready to be launched.
Alden watched the scene from afar, now mounted again on Lux. He stroked the horse's man and spoke quietly to Ethan. "Are you feeling any better? Is the pain gone?" Ethan replied with a slow nod but he seemed concerned. Alden realized that the man still didn't have a weapon, and thus if a merc came upon them, they were essentially dead. Alden spotted a single blade on a corpse near the entrance to the fort. "Oh, of course. You need a weapon...there! Go, get that blade and come back before any surprises." Ethan nodded and scurried away towards the body to loot it.

It seemed that Orland's leap of faith worked. The enemy that was once focused on him was blind sided by their groups counter attack. The shift and troop movement made it easier for Orland to move around. He had abandoned his shield earlier for dramatic effect, which worked in getting the enemies attention, but now not having it was becoming a nuisance.
Suddenly and without warning Orland dashed forward. The giant sudden movement through the soldiers off guard. They were sure he was going to stay close to the wall where it was safer. This idea left them open for the giants charge attack. Orland stabbed through the first man with his lance. He did not even bother to pull it out. Instead he let it stay in the man's body as he rushed forward and retrieved his shield.
"Why you", shouted one man as he swung his weapon. Orland blocked it with his newly recovered shield and swung towards the man's side. The mace hit the man's hip causing him to fall immediately. Before the giant could finish him off another man rushed in. The enemy seemed to be gaining courage. This was not good for the knight.
Orland looked around for a moment and noticed the little green kid throwing stones. It was starting to make sense now. the knight blocked the incoming attack with his shield and pressed forward with his massive body. He toppled the man over the wounded body of his comrade, but rather than finish him off orland began to move. He needed to get over to where Sam was. He did not think the boy would last with just two of them. As he moved he ripped the lance out of the dead man's body and stuck at the enemy with their backs turned toward him.

"Hey, rat-face!" Eren yelled, as Mika swung her tail. The mage was forced to abandon his spell and duck the bludgeon, allowing Faros an opportunity to relocate and strike again. Seeing the strange man in purple shouting orders, Eren smiled and narrowed his eyes...
"So, you're attacking my flank... That means... Hmm, well... My first rook, Orland, is defending the arch. My knights, Alden and Silvia, are with the rook and the pawn, the lance-boy... Your pawns are smashing themselves upon my rook, and my knight of thunder... So..." Eren thought, beginning to grin,
"I shall strike from the rear, stopping the advance of the purple one... He's a black bishop, and I can't ignore his threat. By my moving... I allow Marric, my other rook, to attack the king. My bishop, Faros, provides support..."
Eren spurred Mika downward, where she gave a blood-curdling screech, frightening and disorienting the mercenaries. With confusion spreading throughout the enemy's ranks, Eren allowed Mika to descend upon them, her teeth and claws striking indiscriminately, while he used his lance to knock over and then pepper a mercenary with lance-holes. An axe-wielder ran forward, ready to challenge Eren, but Mika swung her tail again, the classic maneuver. However, the axe-man leapt over the tail, charging. Eren smashed his lance down, and, as the fighter dodged, drawing back his axe to swing, Mika reared up and tore into his torso with her claws, spraying gore upon his fellows and causing them to quake in fear at the merciless Dragon Knight.
Taking to the sky, leaving three more foes in their death throes, Eren circled low over the now-thinning clump of mercenaries, carefully watching the man in purple.
"Such sheep," Eren muttered. "They are doomed, yet they still persist..."

"NOW MARRIC!" Faros howled as the fire wall disapated; Eren had flown in and given the archer and fighter the perfect opportunity, and he turned back to the courtyard to send another barrage of arrows at the mercenaries down below, he had targeted the robed man as well; the youth seemed to be leading the others, perhaps an arrow to the shoulder would shut him up.
On the cue of Faros Marric surged forward to kill the mage. He wasted no time in sending a flurry of savage strikes at the mage, but the rat seemed to dodge every attempt. He eventually was nicked in the cheek, and was sent into a rage.
"You FOOL!" the mage screamed, "I will make sure you and your insects learn the meaning of PAIN by sun-down!" The mage ducked under another swing of Marric's axe.
Detris sent a flare of flame into Marric's side as he hopped away; it deterred the fighter for a few moments to allow the mage another few seconds to taunt him.
"It won't be quick and painless, we'll take our sweet time; make them think they have a chance before we utterly annihilate them. Just like we did to your father... You know Marric, we knew you fools were led by Oeniye; what we hadn't counted on was his son drawing him out for an easy kill." Marric stood, clutching his burning side, "HE BEGGED FOR DEATH BY THE TIME WE WERE FINISHED! SO MUCH FOR THE FEARLESS SKY COMMANDER OF BERN AND ILIA!" The Man yelled to the heavens. He was hoping Marric would be enraged by such a thing, but the youth simply stood there axe in hand.
Why wasn't he giving Detris another show of uncontrollable anger? How annoying. "Come, give me another show MArric!"
He didn't. Marric looked down at his axe and imagined the scene of his father being reduced to ash.
You lie... You lie! Marric said in a hushed voice. He raised his axe and hopped forward to slay the dreadful rat. My father was no coward! He felt nothing, no rage, no sadness. If anything he was tired, ready for this to end already.
He was in such a state of lethargy, the mage hardly needed to sidestep to blast Marric down again with another weak flair. "Given up have we? Excellent..."

The arch had came down perfectly as planed. The arch collapsing down onto a few mercenaries had crushed them, killing them instantly. However two of the doomed group had just cleared the crash area barely, one lost his legs, the other his weapon. Samuali advanced on the two and saw the blood oozing out of the legless man. Out of pity, not anger he finished the man off with a lance through the back. The last one of group snapped, He could no longer fight. "Pl-please boy, Let-let me go! I have a kid." The man stammered. Samuali just nodded for him to go and he did, quickly. Samuali let him take one steep past him then he whipped around and brought the butt of his lance against the fleeing man's head, knowing him cold. "You will be judged later." Samuali stated flatly. He faced the remaining forces between Orland and him. "Ready to end this Silvia?"

The pesky purple mage was quick on his feet to displace from his command position to another one of cover. Just in time, too, for an arrow shot from the sniper pinged off the shoulder pauldron on his cloak. He was able to see and hear the crash of the archway destroying the vanguard of the attack and not even before the last stone was settled, a green-haired youth climbed on top of the rocks and finished a man off before knocking another unconscious.
The men started to rout or surrender, men scrambling to leave the fortress and the wounded crying out to carry them with them. It developed into a full rout, only the red mage holding his own against the intruders.
Synkkis felt a tug on his shoulder, it being none other than his brother, Alaric. "Hey, you dumbass! I was wondering where you were. C'mon, let's get the hell out of here. You don't happen to have your pack, do you?" Alaric questioned, placing his gray cap firmly on his head. The older brother just had to shake his head. He wanted to be quick in combat... he couldn't imagine him without his strategy notes, however. "No... I didn't bring it. Where's yours?" he asked with an annoyed look on his face. "Uh... I dunno. By my bunk or something, I guess."
Synkkis was a bit beyond annoyed at this point, but they had to get their packs. "Well, we ought to surrender. Who knows if they have reserves outside the fort anyways. There's no guaranteed escape. It's alright, we've been captured before. Couldn't be worse than before." The Kyyneltya brothers both cursed under their breaths, hoping their custody wasn't as brutal as either the slavers or Richter's army as was Alaric's case.
The two came from their hiding spot and stood next to three other mercenaries who had the same idea as them to surrender. Better to live and find a job another day than get cut down by a giant or shredded by a wyvern.

(OC: Alden has deleted his account for some reason, so basically, he is not with us anymore . I thought you guys might want to know that.) "Ready, Samuali" Silvia answered confidently, looking at the now growing circle of surrendering foes. She began to take pot shots at the foes still trying to fight Orland.

"Aha!" Eren barked, seeing the group of surrendering men. This was perfect. Without any allies, Detris would fall easily.
"HEAR ME, ONE AND ALL!" Eren roared as he circled above the battle. "YOUR STRATEGIST HAS SURRENDERED. YOUR LEADER WILL FALL WITHOUT QUESTION. DO YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE? THEN SURRENDER, AND BE SPARED FROM A BRUTAL DEATH.
IF YOU DO NOT SURRENDER... YOU WILL BE KILLED."
Eren swooped down, landing in front of the purple-garbed man.
"You, there. Who are you?"

"Oh dear... Everyone seems to have forgotten about me and you Marric... No one will save you now!" Detris hissed this final sentence as he formed a great fireball within his hand. "I may not get your bounty, but at least i can collect your death warrant!"
Ugh... You lost... Marric attempted to stand, but Detris mercilessly kicked him down again. The beaten, burned, and failed fighter coughed uncontrollably. He grunted in pain from the kick, and was sent sprawling back.
"I've waited a year for this! I'm drooling just thinking about your agony..." detris paused and his face twisted into an instant display of insane lust as he let the spell go, "Now you die!-- "
Marric kept his eyes open, waiting for death, but it never came.
"YOU IDIOT, QUIT LYING THERE AND FINISH THE WORM!" Faros yelled. An arrow had sprouted from Detris's chest, and he was gaping at it. His elfire attack went wildly to the right, knocking a crumbling wall down. Marric uses all of his strength to follow the command, struggling to his feet and sending a final axe strike to Detris's temple.
Marric half expected Detris to say something to him. But the dead mage simply stared past him, unblinking. He dropped his axe, and in turn the body fell. He'd done it, well, he'd killed the mage at least. Faros jogged up behind him and clasped the taller man's shoulder.
"Hey, you did alright for someone who was being tortured a couple hours ago..." Faros said it genuinely, he was obviously a senior member of the mercenaries that came to the fort, Marric guessed he was trying to cheer him up.
Er... Yeah, Thanks. He stuttered, and walked over to see what the others were doing from the edge of Detris's balcony.

With one final grunt Orland smashed the head open of a mercenary. As he finished his task he heard Eren shout out. It seemed that the day was theirs. A good bit of the mercenaries surrendered, but a few still stood with weapons in hand. Orland was not sure if they did not believe Eren's words, or if they just still wanted to fight either way he needed to end this confrontation. The wound he had received earlier was still bleeding and Orland needed to take the time to mend it.
"Did you hear that whelps", shouted Orland. "Both your leader and your strategist have fallen. There is nothing left for you all to fight for. Surrender and you will live, but if you resist", spoke Orland as he twirled his spear and pulled it down abruptly. The mercenaries close to him could hear the sound of the blade cutting through the wing. "You will have to face my spear." With those words some of the more battle hardy mercenaries lowered their blades. Taking on a fully armored giant was not something one would do. Even more so without their leader offering coin for the service.
