The black-haired swordsman contemplated what to do with the newly acquired key. He ran through all the possible outcomes in his head while holding the key in his pocket. He could stuff his pockets, but then they'd wonder why he had so much money. He thought of running, but he'd get chased down. The chance of him stashing money would be small because who knew if he was going to be around here anytime soon again to make it worth the while... also, what if he got caught?
This entire time he was cursing that he had to be captured. He was too weak to fight them himself and this just ticked him off even more. He had nowhere to go, but to his brother. So he took out his pipe, loaded it with some tobacco, lit it with a match, and strolled forward to the trio of men heavily discussing something.
"Hey, Syn. I got the key to Detris' room. Figured they'd want it." he said with little interest. He held it out in front of him. It was a typical bronze key without a string attached to it. "What's going on?"

"Well, well. Good to see you back... Alaric, correct?"
Eren turned to face the man, his eyes hard but not angry or upset, and his stance strong and open.
"As I just got finished telling your brother and Marric, that axeman, I will be moving to recapture Fort Claw. It is an established border fort, with a small garrison and a prime strategic location by a crossroads and a river. The skilled members of your company, which I hope is a sizeable number, will accompany Marric and I. I shall enter the fort, respected as I am, and during the night, open the gate to allow you to enter. We will then either force the fort's surrender or eliminate all opposition."
Eren took a few steps away, before turning back to the group.
"Synkkis, I understand your point. Your group shall all receive immediate compensation for their now-defunct contracts. All those who choose to stay will receive a small extra bonus. An incentive to join my assault force, if you will. The rest will, of course go to us... but I am banking on a strong showing.
Marric. I understand your qualms... But we'll need to learn to trust each other. I will be the first wedge in the Ilian occupation... and you shall be my hammer!"
Eren, who had been gesticulating and emphatically speaking, now fell silent. It was an abrupt and uneasy silence, which begged for an answer... an alleviation.

Orland returned to the group and it seemed that they were discussing things. From the looks of it they were not going to take his suggestion of letting his ken take the fort, but in truth he did not think it would fly in the first place. The knight sat around for a bit simply watching. He had no more to input and in truth wanted nothing more to do with the fort. All the sitting around and talking was just not his thing. Orland eventually decided it would be best to loot what he could from the fort and simply wait around to they were paid for their work. Then Eren made his deceleration. The speech caught Orland off guard.
"What in the world were they talking about when I left", spoke the giant as he got off his feet. Suddenly their conversations became interesting. Though at the moment Orland had no intention of joining anybody cause. "So you plan to take Bern back", spoke the booming giant as he walked up to the rider. The knight towered over the man as he looked into his eyes.

The man muttered some gibberish, not fully there. Samuali helped sit him up against a rock. He was about to resume looting the corpses when Eren announced something. Samauli missed what was said, but what ever it was caused quite a stir. Samauli got up and headed over to the group, with a little new blood on him, when he heard the giant speak; "So you plan to take Bern back"
Take Bern back? Just what was going on now? He wondered to himself as he worked his way near Marric and Eren.

Fort Claw? That's where the Pegasus Knight wing units resupply before heading out for their missions. Marric glared at Synnkis's brother, that key was an interesting piece indeed. He crossed his arms, and looked at the giant with a solemn nod. He'd turn back to Eren, and added his piece to the plan.
I'm not allowed back in Ilia, i am sure. I wouldn't be able to accompany you inside, even if i didn't think that was suicide. Not like this anyway... He gestured to his outfit, and obvious markings as a Ilian mercenary.
You there, give me that key, Detris might have some useful things locked away.

The tactician wasn't too familiar of Fort Claw. Whether it was in Ilia, Sacae, Bern, Etruria... no damn clue. At least everyone else here had an idea. He didn't bother too much with the details. He was talking of taking Bern back for the Bernese, but the Bernese were the same people who supported the Bandit King and he had heard most the army down there were nothing but organized bandit groups. Didn't look like him or his brother had much choice in the matter.
"I appreciate your generosity, rider. I'm sure the men do as well." he stated, now looking to his brother who just showed up offering him a key that was quickly asked for by Marric. He gave him a silent nod. The knight and a boy with a lance showed up, wondering what their conversation entailed.

The swordsman nodded, holding the pipe in his mouth. "Yeah, that's me." he responded dully. The whole conversation didn't pique any of his interest until the second bit of what the wyvern rider was saying. "Oh, so we're getting paid?" he asked, a bit curious. "Whatever it is you're paying for, I'm in."
The axeman, Marric, bothered him for the key and he handed it over without any qualms. "Maybe. He'd never let anyone in there." he explained. All he knew that was in there was their pay and it was where the bastard slept.

"All right, all right. Enough."
Holding his hands up imperiously, Eren called for silence as he began to speak once more.
"Orland. You wanted the fort? You can have it, conditionally. Whatever you'll be using it for, be it a base or a training center or your personal castle, I don't care, as long as I can resupply my troops here and use it as a launchpad. Sound fair to you? I get a foothold, you get your fort and the profit from my troops.
Samuali. I remember you. You're getting pretty good -- how about coming along? You'd be a dependable soldier, and it'd be a prime chance to hone your skills.
Marric. The fort is inside Bern territory, not far from here. I think it was used as a supply depot for Ilian units. You'd only be entering under cover of night, anyway.
Synkkis and Alaric. I need you and your men; you'll serve as my primary contingent."
Eren fell quiet, waiting for responses.

"Sounds fair enough", spoke Orland as a evil grin crossed his face. The knight bandit began to think of all the work they could pull out of the place. All he needed to do was contact his people back in Bern and they could have this place up in running in less than a month. Giving Eren room and supplies was a petty price to pay for a fortress. In fact the deal with Eren could be quite profitable for him and his family of brigands. If Eren succeeded they would be recognized as aids to the liberation of Bern. If he failed, well it was still business as usual. The Illian government still wanted to kill them all. Little risk, but high in reward.
"Very well Eren you have yourself a deal. Me and my kin will man the fort and do what we do best. You and your men can come by restock, rest, resupply, and make plans. We both win."

So Eren wanted to attack Fort Claw to help the rebellion. Samuali had no side in this seemingly pointless internal blood bath among themselves. Of course, he did not know what it was about in the first place. He grew up in the Nabatan desert, and had not been traveling around much. They way things looked now was the way the outside had always looked to him. What he had saw of the rebellion looked more like bandits then strives for justice. But he also had heard stories of the current ruler's "inhospitably" to put it lightly. He looked at Marric, then Eren, then back to Marric before answering. "I- Well- I am sorry, But i need to think on it." He backed away from the group a little.

After things were settled with Eren Orland began to draft a letter. He wanted to send it out as soon as possible. We are going to have a lot of work to do", spoke Orland to himself as he started to make a check list along side his letter. He wanted the boys to make only one trip. Multiple trips would gather to much attention. They needed to bring most of their supplies in the first wave and supplement the remaining needs with local sources.

His answer is no eren. I won't allow such a young boy to assist in this. He would only slow us down anyway. He snatched the key from Alaric's hand with a bit of malice. I'm disapointed you even asked, Eren. I'd have thought you'd seen enough young boys die.
He gave Samuali a hard look, the scabs and open cuts he'd sustained during his time in the fort's prison gave his expression a look of anger, an emotion he'd never felt against his young apprentice. In truth, he was angry. He had taught Samuali to act, not hesitate. Sure, this was not combat, but it did happen to be very important to him. The lad stepped away from them as if they were criminals, and seemed to look at Marric like he was asking for confirmation of that thought. He held the key tightly in a fist, and strode off toward the castle's interior. He was going to find whatever Detris was trying to protect so furiously.

The tactician sighed. "I'd rather Bern fight for its own independence. I have no interest in the country. However, if we have no choice, my brother and I will accompany you. We will have to travel through Sacae first in order to reach Bern. It'll be a bit of a journey." Looking over, he could see his pack set next to Alaric's. Never before has he been so relieved to see it. Perspective is everything, he thought.
Noticing the squabble between Marric and the rider, it didn't seem like much was going to plan for some of the victors. Even their supposed leader watched on silently. Hopefully he wouldn't be caught between it all.

Marric spoke for Samauli. He then gave a hard look, one that seemed like he was angry at Samuali. Samuali almost immediately felt ashamed and hug his head. He kept his head like that and kicked at the dirt while Marric strode off into the fort. After a little while Samuali looked up at Eren and said meekly; "With all respect sir, i will help with the finial capture of this place, take my cut and be on my way." He gave a glare at the enemy tactician as he walked away to go do what was needed.

Alaric was sick of waiting around and that Marric guy had a stick up a place sticks shouldn't be put. He crossed his arms, not giving into Marric's pissy mood. The other mercenaries were lined up as well, having done as ordered. After waiting a bit, he turned towards the other mercenaries and took another puff from his pipe with impatience. It seemed everyone here had it out for them. 'Eh, screw 'em anyways. They risk their butts just to beat us down and then they're out quicker than they came in. Honestly I wish we pummeled these guys. We may have gotten a bonus or even better, Detris would've bit the dust and Syn would've probably dealt with those cult mages and took all the spoils for ourselves.' The thoughts that played through his mind made him chuckle a bit, even though those "what if's" were very far away from reality.
