Tamaya rode hard and fast. She raced over the plains, well ahead of her pursuers. Well... To call them pursuers cast them in the wrong light. But to her, it was a race against time... There!
Rocketing down a rolling hill, the young woman saw the road, with a wagon. Good, she wasn't too late... That would have been awful.
Tamaya pulled Shikoba to an abrupt halt beside the wagon, leaping off and landing surefootedly. She then ran up, coming behind the group, before happily calling out a familiar name.
"Roin!"
The young woman grinned, quickly looking behind her. Good, they weren't in sight yet. She didn't want to ruin the surprise.
"Roin, I heard about the threat... And so I came to help!"

The City of Heroes was under attack!
What FUN!
Harmonia had heard the news a time after she'd started back towards Ilia, wanting to get a look at the snowy nation before heading home to Etruria for a bit. And it seemed really important and stuff! So she turned around and started to head back, horse galloping along as the strange young woman was off to the Sacaen city once more. Ooo, maybe she'd get to see Kenshin in action this time! That'd be really fun!
Eventually, she started to come across a wagon on the way toward the city as well. "Hiii~!" She decided to ride up alongside them, waving a greeting and wearing her usual cheery grin.

So somebody was planning on attacking the city of heroes. If Orcleous did not hear it from such reliable sources he would not have believed it. There was going to be a war.
"This War would probably be talked about for a thousand generations", spoke an Old man as he led his small group of blades toward the city of Heroes. Orcleous had joined up with them temporary for the moment. The boy was looking to swing his blade for the legendary city and to see the legend Kinshin himself. He heard the man moved as fast as the wind and struck like lightning. Orcleous wanted to know if it was true and moved to find out.
"It seems that the word has reached here as well", spoke Orcleous. The young mercenary looked around and saw all the people gathering. His eyes focused on the man who was speaking earlier when he saw someone he did not expect to meet. "No way", spoke Orcleous as he put his hand on his blade. "Old man I will catch up in a minute", spoke Orcleous to the old swordsman.
"Don't be too long young. We move out in a hour", spoke the man.

Roin had been quick to address Vicktaria, making a note on Rosa's comment about being a checkerboard.
"I know from experience that bad men can straighten out. Given time and the right air, even the criminal life can lose its luster like a hunter might lose the thrill of the hunt."
Roin looked back to his father at that, the wagon still plopping along on the road. They had just left the previous camp, the wagon rolling slowly, but that didn't stop people from catching up. Not long after his gaze shifted to his father, though, voices picked up in greeting and speech. Two women had strode up, though only one was familiar to him. Smiling, he bowed his head toward Tamaya as he spoke up.
"Hello Tamaya. And hello to you madam."
The wagon was going slow enough to walk along, so the man would no doubt start getting closer to them, but for now Roin settled into introducing Rosa, looking to the recently rescued woman with a smile. "Rosa, this is Tamaya. I met her during my time in Ilia." He motioned to the blonde-haired Sacean, but was interrupted as Ronin sat up, the old swordmaster smirking at both Harmonia and Tamaya, tipping his hat to them slightly.
"Welcome, ladies. You can see where my dashing son gets all his good looks. Though, you shouldn't try to think too hard on it, or his mug might get a bit-"
He was cut off when Roin turned and popped him across the back of the head, the two sharing a brief look of conflict before Roin grumbled and raised the reins to guide the horse back onto the road, the creature enjoying both the grass and the smooth dirt road. As they neared a small hill crest, the next camp came into view. Sacea's smaller clans often sat up close to make large trade markets, which meant going between them to recruit would be somewhat simple enough. He just had to hop his father wasn't going to flirt with every woman who walked their way, so he could be seen far more serious and presentable to Saceans and roaming men and women alike.
"If we're successful with this, maybe the battle will be more simple than I though...we just need to ensure we have the numbers to fight Hargus' bunch..."

"Oh! Hello, Rosa," Tamaya said politely. Maybe this woman would be another new friend for her!
"Numbers... Speaking of which, Roin... Look!"
Coming over the crest of the hill were nomads upon nomads. Swordsmen, lancemen, axemen, bowmen... The thirty or so members of the Cathecassa clan had all arrived to lend their aid to the city of the great hero, Kenshin. After hearing Tamaya's description of him from when they met, the decision to defend his city was unanimous.
"I brought my clan, Roin. We will lend you our strength."

Suddenly there was so much going on. People were converging to join Roin left and right. It certainly looked like her was inspirational to more than just her- not that that was a bad thing. As Tamaya leaped aboard the cart, Rosa instantly rose to her feet, blade ready to strike, fearing an assassination or kidnapping attempt. When Roin verified she was an ally, however, Rosa sheathed her sword as quickly as she'd drawn it and extended her hand in an invitation of friendship. "It's a pleasure, Tamaya!" the Myrmidon exclaimed in a chipper manner, retaining a calm, collected smile. Secretly, however, she wondered if perhaps this Tamaya was more than a friend to Roin. What if this potential friend was also a potential contender? Though it wracked Rosa's mind, she forced herself to hold her composure. Jumping to conclusions and appearing a paranoid freak would get her nowhere, after all.
As Harmonia came up alongside the cart, Rosa returned her wave, noting a tingling shooting through her spine at the sight of the pink-haired woman. Despite that smile, she sensed something terrifying about this one. If there was a door wherever they were staying, Rosa was definitely locking it now. "You certainly are a popular fellow, it would seem, Roin. You might turn out to be quite the charmer and heart-breaker if you weren't so... stoic. I suppose that's alright though. I like ya just the way you are," she teased, giggling and playfully punching Roin lightly on the shoulder.
"In the mean time, don't worry about the fighting. Leave putting the pointy things in the bad guys to me. Just relax and enjoy the calm while it lasts. You never know when it'll be shattered." As Rosa said this, she leered dreamily at Roin for a moment, only to quickly return her gaze to Tamaya like nothing had ever happened. Blushing lightly, she flipped her hair back over her shoulder, smiling nervously. "Tell me a bit about yourself, Tamaya! What's your clan like? Is life on the plains as beautiful as I'd imagine it to be!?" she asked excitedly, giggling like a little kid.

"Hi Tammy!" Harmonia chanted another greeting as she got even closer now. It was pretty crazy and neat to see all those Sacaen people! She then looked over at the guy on the wagon and the purple haired girl and other people around and geez. All these people wanting to help Kenshin! So nice!
"I dunno who he is! I came to help Kenshin! He was nice." Harmonia smiled widely. Though the purple haired one-eye girl with the sword started talking to Tammy and so Harmonia seemed to set her eyes straight ahead for now, briefly wondering if she remembered to sharpen her sword. Never knew if Bandits might try to interfere! Then she'd need to be ready to kill them! Geez, it'd be bad if she wasn't prepared to kill people!

Casual whistling was the only thing that would herald the mercenary knight's approach, his eye having a sort of sleepy, carefree look to it as he walked the plains, his lance held in a rested posture over his shoulders with his helmet dangling from the shaft by its strap. Which wasn't much to single him out, considering how popular the area seemed to be getting. A noble cause seemed to hold quite the draw, he thought with a laugh. He wondered if noble people were the ones drawn to it, too.
He paused in his steps, ceasing his whistling as he took in the setting. What was he even looking for? Rumors were quick to spread about this, true. And it was the only rumor that was hinting at guaranteed work, but it was surprising how few details there were. Or maybe he just asked the wrong questions. There was a little group in the distance. Which became a big group. And quickly, at that. Wow was that a big group. He could only smirk. Somewhere in that swarm of people had to be who he was looking for.
As luck had it, Roin and his father were the first two people he decided he'd try his luck on. The pretty faces around didn't hurt that decision-making process, either, but he still had to try getting his pay somehow.
"Well... Guess we'll see where it goes, hm?" he said, mostly to himself but also to the people near him. He hadn't traveled here alone, this time around. After all, word had spread far. But he still wasn't used to moving with groups. So, he figured he'd scout ahead, to see if he were right.
He picked up his steps, clattering with each one, reflecting the sunlight, his smile carefree, but his posture confident. He looked between everyone gathered in the little circle, his eyebrow raised at all the conversation, but figuring he'd make his presence known.
"So I heard there was a bit of a storm brewing," Aethan chipped in, fully aware that he was interrupting and didn't have much of a place in this particular group, but with a smirk still on his face, "Who's the one I see about looking into that?"

Orcleous rushed up to where the cart was at. He was sure he saw him. The mercenary was not going to let him get away this time. He rushed up to the slowly moving Cart with his hand on his blade.
"Pirate Scum show yourself", shouted Orcleous as he moved with purpose. A group of people had gathered obstructing his view. Still Orcleous knew the man was there. He could feel it. Orcleous began to push his way through the group of people in search for Vick. He was not sure what he was going to do when he found him, but he knew one thing, it was not going to be pleasant.

"City of Heroes, eh?"
Always a battle to be fought somewhere.
A good thing too or I'd be out of work.
He thought to himself as he surveyed the crowd. He followed Aethan towards the circle of people. It was somewhat odd traveling with others, but it was a nice feeling to trust someone not to kill him in his sleep. At least without them being paid anyway, Feren had hardly anything worth stealing. He shrugged at the thought and gave a nod to the group before waiting for a response.

The rush of even more faces seemed to briefly throw Roin. He had been more of a loner than anything in the last few years, but now so many were heeding the call. He brought the wagon to a stop as they reached the borders of the next camp. It was a short distance, but just far enough to not have heard the hustle in the camp they had just come from. Standing up on the driver's section, he looked to his father and gave him a rough hit to stir the elder, Ronin making a face as Roin spoke up.
"Keep watch over the cart, Father. Any who wish to stay can, but I'm going to the village and we need to keep that prisoner nice and secure."
Ronin rolled his eyes, grumbling as he relaxed back. Roin hopped down from the cart, though, looking to the two new figures. While he didn't wear armor, he stood equally as tall and held a strong posture as the armored duo. What Roin lacked in armor, however, he made up with far more skill and speed. Besides, he had two, ridged guards to deflect attacks aimed at his head.
"The City of Heroes will be our last stop, but we must first see that we recruit as many as possible. We may not pay the best, but you will earn many allies and potential clients. As for who you see...that would be me, I'd suppose."
Roin turned, motioning Tamaya and Rosa along, not knowing the others remotely to guide them. His pace would be moderate, his hand moving to rest on the top of his sword's hilt as he made for the camp. With such a big posse, it was clear that he'd likely gain far more believers to the dire-state of this upcoming battle. Personally, Roin knew his own blade would be tested, no matter how the odds favored. Legendary soldiers, though he cared nothing for that, would find their way into this siege-to-come. Perhaps, though, that would influence more travelers to warm-up to the idea...

Vicktaria blinked as he heard Orc's voice. He longingly looked to his palm, as he then slapped it against his face. "I don't have time for this kind of crap at the moment..." He then turned around, noticing Orc, shouting to him. "Go home, boy! There's bigger business here than just your petty revenge over a pretty face. We've got a town to defend!"

"Harmonia! It is good to see you!"
Tamaya was overjoyed -- old friends, new friends... Everyone here was all friendly, and focused on helping the hero, Kenshin. This excitement and energy -- that's what she sought when she left home.
As she followed Roin, she replied to Rosa, saying "Well... Life on the plains is interesting. There is a lot of beauty in nature, and peace as well. But I left, to search for... Something. It called me. I am sorry, these intangible things are hard to describe. But I found myself in Ilia, and that's where Roin saved me."
Tamaya nodded in Roin's direction as she finished her abbreviated life's story.
"How about you? What is your story?"

Orcleous had finally pushed his way through the crowd of people and made his way to Vick. "Pirate you will finally pay for what you have done. I will make you pay for the slaying of the that small village and the lives you took in your assault of the port town. Finally you will bleed for staining my reputation as a mercenary!"
Orcleous moved to draw his sword, but the whispers and words of the crowd around him made him hesitate. It seems that a few of them were not on his side and a couple more spoke of jumping in if it came to blood. For the moment Orcleous had to sheath his blade. Once again the justice of the sword would be halted by the ignorant masses unwary of the danger.

Vicktaria grunted, watching as the boy practically humiliated himself. "I'll give yer something to pay for that wench that paid you. Yer reputation. Help me and the others defend this city of heroes? People will hear about it, they'll think "Oh, that wee lad seems so mighty, I'll hire his arse." See? All better now." Vicktaria then turned around, returning to his walking.
