"Lance of the North, nice title", spoke Orcleous as he began to mull over it. It sounded good and had a good ring to it. Though she did get demoted, it made him wounder. Probably had something to do with the Richter guy if Orcleous had to guess. Politics and all, you where always in them even when you did not want to be.
"Far better than Faint of Heart", spoke Xeldine as she gave Orcleous a sly look. So she wanted to do this here, thought Orcleous as the maiden gave him a cricket smile. If Orcleous had a penny for all the times she stabbed him in the back. It was almost like her favorite pass time. Orcleous would get into a conversation with somebody. He would share a few tales build up his reputation and she would throw that title back in his face and bring his name back down. Orcleous wondered why he even bother with bringing her along with him.
"Yes, yes we all know they call me Faint of Heart", spoke Orcleous as he let Xeldine have her day. He was going to have to get her back for this. "It is a crappy title from a fearsome battle", spoke the hero.
"Not very fearsome when you run with your tail between your legs", spoke the maiden.
"Not very fearsome when somebody did not even bother to try and fight", spoke Orcleous staring back at the young girl. "It is true that I retreated in that fight against the monster, but staying would be a suicidal and stupid. No point in fighting a creature with a city on fire and a squad of armored undead at its beck and call."
"Anyway from my personal stance it seemed that your loss of job was probably political. I hate to say it, but politics always screw things up. No matter what happens there will always be some guy who thinks they should have all the power and blah blah blah. What does matter is that you did what you did and you lead your men with honor. I am sure they all have the utmost respect for you, especially with The Tittle Lance of the North. Carry it with pride, it is pretty much a walking badge of honor.
"Far better than Orlcoeus title", spoke the little gremlin.
"Far better than being a novice", spoke Orcleous putting a heated razor to it. "I had another question to ask, but it would be rude for me to continue asking without giving. As you know me and the pipsqueak here are going to Bern.", spoke Orcleous as he put his hand ontop of the maiden's head. She struggled to pull it off, but Orcleous iron grip held strong. "Mainly I am going back to see my family. I have been away for a bit and decided to go check in with them. With the population of Gargoyles taking root in the mountains after the city of Heroes things have been a bit unstable in the region."

Faint of Heart. A scorned title huh, doesn't describe him well, as far as I've seen.
She regarded the two feuding, as akin to what lovers would. It was cute to say the least, still making her smile. She had lively conversations like this on the road with quite a lot of people, all from different facets of life, but none such as this. Xeldine was a bit of an annoyance however, She liked to jab at the man, but she wasn't learnt. Those kinds of experiences are important to develop. Surely, Xeldine too will experience these sorts of hardships, so let her poke fun while she can, then feel terrible about it when she too, need turn tail and run.
"Sometimes retreat is the only option. You can't win everything. I should have retreated when I fought against the Eturians that were coordinating with the Bandits and mercenaries. I should have fallen back, and got more troops to arrive for a proper assault. I made the wrong choice, and lost too many lives. That was also my first time fighting against someone who used Dark magic. Scary stuff that."
Marle shuddered visibly. She remembered the pain he brought her, and there were probably many more like him, and stronger too.
"Do not be too hard on Orcleous, Xeldine."
She gave a warmer smile to the girl. Looking down at that sword on her hip, before looking her back in the eye.
"You should probably learn how to first use that sword of yours before you start shifting the blame onto him." Turning her attention then to listen to Orcleous, she understood what he meant on how she should wear that title bestowed to her with pride, but somehow, she just couldn't. She didn't feel worthy of it really. "Titles are just things men give other men. They are not who we are, afterall. Our deeds judge us, nothing more."
She didn't really know that. Gargoyles huh? She had never seen one of those before. "I don't mind, best to ask it, before it gnaws away at me. I don't do well with suspense."

Xeldine looked at the women. She was starting to really get to her. Not only did she not do like the others and join in on the teasing, but she also had a excuse. She was no fun at all. "Well here is a difference between me and orcleous", spoke the maiden as she looked at the heavily armored General. "I don't pick fights I can't win."
"And yet I have had to pull you out the fire more times then I can count", spoke Orcleous. The maiden gave him a sour look, but the Hero ignored it and turned his attention back toward the General. She seemed very upset about the mission that gained her her name. The way she touched her hair and acted. It was clear to Orcleous that this was bothering her. The Hero could try to help her come to terms with it, but he was not sure if he was touching the correct subject. He could end up tearing something and causing more harm than good. At the same time he could also motivate her to do what she needs to do in life and stop holding something on the inside. Currently Orcleous had no regrets and that was good. His heart and mind where free. However this women seemed to regret that battle. She regretted the loss and it weighed on her.
"Not necessarily", spoke Orcleous as he began to speak on the women's tale of the battle in the north. "If you have waited to get more men then you might have doomed a lot more. The brigands could have swelled there numbers and the amount of men who came as back up could not have mattered. At the same time when you attacked with reinforcements the brigands could have been more prepared and took down a lot more people. There are always possibilities of things turning out better or the idea of marginalizing loss, but that is a chance. It is not a guarantee. When you fought the brigands you where in the thick of it right. You risked your life as much as everyone else around you. You did nothing wrong and the outcome just so happen to be tragic. However if those men had not given there lives a lot more lives would have been lost. Don't beat yourself up about it so much. You made the right choice. Your nation is still there and the people in there villages are not dead. Sure it may have cost blood, but what you don't sacrifice for you won't appreciate", spoke Orcleous.
"Oh right I almost forgot my question. I wanted to ask why where you going to Bern? It seems like a awfully long trip to travel from Ilia to Bern. What in the world down south that grabbed your attention.?"
Why was a Ilian general heading south Orcleous wondered. Since she was not with a army he knew she was not with the anti rebellion, or at least he thought so. Since she was from Ilia he knew she was not with the rebellion. Ilia rebelling against Ilia was stupid. So why was she going there.

Orcleous was right. She shouldn't let it weigh on her. She knew that, but saying was always easier than doing of course. She took a deep breath, and then breathed out. She was trying to expel the negative feelings, and this seemed to work, almost like washing it away. Rolling her shoulders, she gave them both a look, agreement clearly written on her face.
"Yes, I think you're right. I think I did the right decision, despite the results. I think if I had the choice, I would do it all over again the same way. Guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself."
She playfully scoffed, but she wasn't lying to herself either. She believed what she said. Still, she perked up, feeling a little better about herself. She listened, and thought whether she should tell him the truth or not. They Orc said he was from Bern, would it be fruitful to tell him the truth, or should she lie? She didn't want to have to come to blows if she didn't have to.
"I guess...I want to see what all the commotion is about for myself. The fighting is almost like it's no better than it was many years ago, when Bern rose up to wage war. They hurt their own people building up an army for as long as they did. They think Ilians were taxing them to the ground, but I don't believe it's true. I wish to stop the fighting."
It was the truth, but she herself, could do little to stop anything like that.
"If I can't help there, well, it'll make me more knowledgeable, and I think I might continue my travels elsewhere. I do want to see Lycia as well sometime in my life."

"There is a rebellion going on in Bern", spoke Xeldine as she looked in confusion. The maiden had no idea what was going on in Bern at the time. Before she had her accident with the carriage she did not pay much attention to the news from the other nations to begin with. The entire idea of a rebellion was new to her.
"Who is the country hick now", spoke Orcleous as he gave the maiden a sly smile. "Oh I see the rebellion", spoke Orcleous as he took a deep breath and breath out. Now this one was a land mine. "Right know all about that", spoke Orcloeus. "The rebellion has affected the country more than anything. With the two morons fighting over the dirty bandits roam free and raid as they please. It is not like Bern was safe from bandits before, but now it is ridiculous. The nations only saving grace was that Hargus had rounded up most of them and marched them south to there doom. Also you don't have to worry about me", spoke Orcleous as he looked at the General. "I personally follow my father's view point and avoid the entire ordeal altogether."
"Wait aren't your parents dirty farmers", spoke Xeldine as she looked at Orcleous with confusion. If what miss armor said was right then they should be feeling the brunt of the taxes. Yet Orcleous seems to calm. Should he not be angry or outrage about the entire event.
"Well I would not go so far to say dirty farmers", spoke Orcleous. "Our farm grows food and crops and it is true Ilia does tax them heavy, but my family is use to it. Before they even came the taxes where high and demand was even higher so the king could try and feed his massive army. We got enough land that we can grow enough to not only support ourselves, but keep the taxes away. The only true bummer came when we had that bad year, but they fixed that real quick."
"How did they do that", spoke Xeldine. This time she was truly curious.
"They threw me off the farm", spoke Orcleous playfully. He turned it into a joke, but it was the truth. Becoming a mercenary was not a choice for him. It was more a matter of life. "So far there is not much of a difference and my family has been the same. My father has a I don't give a crap about who rules policy and he passed it onto me. So your are completely safe with me", spoke Orcleous.
"Though do try not to get yourself killed", spoke the Hero as he looked at the general. As stern expression crossed his face. "I have seen way to many people get chopped up over this. It is a stupid fight in my opinion, thought I understand that there is big money riding on it. If Bern is turned back to the way it was the old nobility will regain its old power. If it stays under Ilia then the nation of snow will keep its free crops and will not have to spend so much coin importing in food. So to put it simple it is the same type of war as it always has been. The rich man keeps getting richer off the sacrifices of the poor man fighting in the field."

Marle didn't really understand everything either. It was all politics in the end. Honestly, the Bernese people didn't try very hard to appeal for lower taxes. That much she understood. That much she was told. She felt bad for the farmers the most. They worked so hard, to try and feed their nation, but they were the bottom rung. Ilia had no farmland of their own, they had grown relaxed having Bern as their source of crops, instead of having to buy it from merchants. It helped a lot, but it wasn't an even trade. This was the only life she knew how to deal with though.
"Well, that's good to hear. And don't you worry, I don't court death cheaply. I make sure he wines me and dines me before I succumb."
She smiled a little too happily. It was a scandalous way of speaking, but she picked up bad habits from the common soldier and even worse from mercenaries. She had to deal with them both a lot on occasions. There was no way around picking up some tidbits here and there.
"You're right about that. The rich do not stay rich by spending money, and by stealing from someone worse off than themselves. I am sure those in the rebellion are fighting for a noble goal, but how do they intend to continue? Do they just plan to fight themselves to exhaustion? Its impossible for them to win, without reaching a compromise of sorts with Ilia. I honestly think we would all be better off in cooperation, rather than lording over one another."

Well at least the two of them can sleep soundly tonight and not be worried about being stabbed to death. Though Orcleous was still going to need to keep a eye on her. You don't let your guard down on the first trip that was the rule of the mercenary. "Good then", spoke Orcleous to the maiden's comment. "As for there plans", spoke Orcleous as he began to think on it. "To be truthful I have no idea. Who knows what they are thinking. The rebellion has its own mind and from what I heard they are hard to predict. They have won a few battles of late and talk about them has been spreading across the region. If you want to put them down you are going to have some work laid out before you", spoke Orcleous.
"Alright that is enough about that", spoke Xeldine as she cut into the conversation. She did not like being left out most of the time and she hated politics even more. It all was stupid to her. Here the roads where being assaulted by both monsters and brigands and people where still fighting over who's name was on a piece of paper. "Can we talk about something else other than how Bern sucks. Old man Orcleous don't you have another story to share or how about you Miss Steel, don't you have a web to spin."
"Alright that is enough of that", spoke Orcleous as he looked at Xeldine. "This is not just politics it is life and the region we are going in. If you don't understand the way of the land then you will die."
"Yeah, but I don't need to know who hats who or who is fighting over what. All I need to know is where they are fighting and what path I need to take to avoid them."
"Foolish little novice", spoke Orcleous as he patted Xeldine on the head. She hated when he did that and that was why he loved to do it. "There is no neutrality in war. Eventually you are going to have to choose a side or leave the area. One of the two options."
"Wait, but you said"
"That I can care less about the fighting yes. However I did not say I did not fight on one of the sides before now did I. I chose a side once and only once. It was in a small village and a young girl was being threaten. The people claimed themselves as part of the rebellion, but that did not deter my blade. I cut down many of them that day. The war will eventually make you chose a side or you will be trampled by it. The only way to avoid that would be to leave."
"Oh right", spoke Orcleous as something came to his mind. "Speaking of war we might need to be careful. I heard that Eturia was on the war path again. Rumors have it a army has entered into Sacae and has been attacking the clans again. They say the force is being lead by a man named Oya. Have you heard anything about it", spoke Orcloeus as he turned toward the General.

Marle was actually quite thankful for Xeldine this time. Her well of knowledge on this subject was just about dry afterall. Soon, she would have had nothing more to contribute to it. She didn't make it known however, instead watching the banter between the master and apprentice. Maybe she should teach someone the spear. Would that be fulfilling? She was good, not the greatest, but good. Keeping quiet, she looked instead off to the horizon in which the sun was setting. A couple more hours of daylight it would seem, before they would need to set up for camp. The issue with Sacae she was finding, was that fires were an issue most of the time. Not enough kindling in the area, and no wood.
Marle tripped over a stone her boot had caught on, catching herself, but making a small commotion until she regained her posture. The weight of the armor almost brought her down onto her face. That would have been embarrassing. instead, she was asked a question about...who? Oya? That's a name?
"I...can't say I have. I might have heard it, but I don't know anything of the person, I'm afraid."
She rubbed her chin, thinking hard about it, going quiet for a moment. The longer she strained to find a memory, the more her head hurt, going so far as to wince a little before just huffing, throwing a hand up into the air.
"I got nothing. I don't think I've ever heard of this Oya person before. Why, is he someone I should know about? I mean, Sacae being invaded by Eturia isn't really surprising, it's happened before. They're warmongers afterall. Probably going to do the same to Ilia in days to come. Been hearing about a large force building up on the other side, but nothing concrete to suggest those rumors are true. Probably just banter of merchants seeing the gathering force of the army for invading Sacae."

"Just a low life pirate", spoke Orcleous answering the information on Oya. "I heard he fought in the City of Heroes and was said to be rumored to leading a invasion force. Still we don't know if it is completely true. At this point it is only rumors, but rumors that need to be looked into if you plan to travel. However since we are going to Bern I doubt that we will run into anything", spoke Orcleous.
"Great it is going to get dark soon", spoke Xeldine as she looked up into the sky. The young maiden was tired of politics and here Orcelous switching to another. Though this one had more immediate danger than the last one. "How about we go ahead and set up camp. I would rather get to that while it is still light out than attempt when it is dark.
"Hmm good point", spoke Orcleous. "Trying to set camp in the dark is asking for trouble. Still that is hours lost. We are going to have to get up early. You have no problem with setting up for camp do you", asked Orcleous as he looked at the General. He was sure she wanted to get to where she was going and the road was going to take a bit, mainly because it was not a direct path. Orcleous could understand if she wanted to keep moving.
"Great", spoke Xeldine to herself as she began to look around. She saw a good hill they could set camp up behind and everything. All she had to do was did the two pits and set the fire and everything would be ready. Orc usually got the tent up so it was not her problem. Though she began to wounder if the maiden had brought her own tent. It would be annoying to have to try and share the one they had. For two people it was fine, but three would be a crowd.

It was starting to set, the sun it was, and the day was coming to an end. She felt like she wasn't making any kind of progress, but she could see that those mountains were a lot closer than before. Time sure flew when you weren't travelling alone. Though they were trekking on, and had talked about setting up camp, so far there was really no suitable place...didn't look like anywhere was a suitable place on the plains. Fires could be seen at long distances in the dark, making it easy for the wrong sorts of people to find you. She wanted somewhere tucked away, but that was only because of how she was. With a sigh, she saw a relatively flat area tucked down into some long cross that looked like it had been used as a camping spot at some point.
"Not at all. How about we set up there, then? The grass should shelter the fire some, provided we make sure to encompass the fire or build a pit for it. I picked up pieces of kindling and wood as I have made my travels through the plains, since it was never a sure thing I would find trees when I rested."
She continued along, but went back to her donkey while leading it close, checking the bags here and there, actually making sure, after the fact, that she did have her utensils. Really, she could do without a fire if need be, but it just made it harder to find her things. Seeing that things were in order, she waited for the other two, to be sure of what she was doing before setting onto her task of setting up camp. The General didn't really feel the need to set up a tent. It was much too warm here for her, and she couldn't wait to get out of the armor and into a new pair of clothes. Washing these ones out would be a priority should they come across a water source at some point...they had gotten quite sweaty.

"Very well then", spoke Orcleous as the maiden chose a spot. It soon became clear to Orcleous that she was worried about a fire letting other people know about there position. Why else would she chose the spot. However Orcleous already had a solution to that, a little Bern wisdom. "Hey Xeldine set up the fire and I will do the tent", spoke Orcleous as he detached his massive war hammer from his back and tossed it on the ground. The Hero gave a sigh of relief as the massive weapon was removed from his shoulders. Carrying that thing around all day was a pain, but in battle it was a true advantage.
"No reason to tell me to start the fire", spoke Xeldine as she pulled out shovel and started to dig. "I mean we do the same thing every time we make camp, it is not like we ever change jobs." The maiden dug a hole into the ground going straight down and then she dug another right next to it. Using a dagger she reached her hand down into the first hole and made a opening into the second one. Then she began to add in the kenneling and other materials to start the fire. Sparking two rocks together she created a flame that was concealed in the ground. This was only made possible thanks to the second hole that fueled oxygen to the fire and allowed the flame to burn underground rather than having to be above the surface. The trick was taught to her by Orcleous as a way to camp without being noticed. Orcleous learned it from a assassin he meet long ago and the assassin learned it from some old dude. It was a piece of knowledge that passed down through a strange genealogy through Bern.
"Hey is the fire ready", asked orcleous as he set up his tent. The Hero walked over with a few pots and a canteen of water.
"Yeah it is good", she spoke as Orcleous let a metal railing over the hole and placed the pot on top of it. Pouring the water into the pot and boiling a few leaves with it Orcleous began on his way to brew up some tea. "Long day", he spoke as he watched the water begin to boil.

As everyone started to make preparations, she instead watched as Xeldine took to starting the fire pit. Honestly, Marle had not even thought of doing anything like that. it was pretty smart, a good way of keeping the fire contained so it wouldn't ash out and start a fire on the grass. She just smiled, and went about lessening her own load much as Orcleous did, seeing that heavy hammer hit the ground kind of made her shudder. She couldn't imagine carrying that weight around with her armor. She led her donkey in close, and began to strip it of the heavy packs, giving it a pat, and tying it down with a stake in the ground, but giving it quite the range for movement. It deserved a good break for travelling relatively quiet and with such a burden. When someone had mentioned she take one, she was a little surprised, not having thought about it.
Still, she needed to lighten her load, beginning the arduous task of removing all of her armor. It was a pain, and usually a two person job, but she had become used to doing it on her own, unfastening the many straps and all the buckles, removing the links that kept her armor as one whole piece one at a time. It took quite awhile honestly for her. General armor was heavy, crazy so, and elaborate. She was very tired, but kept herself looking unphased. She did this until all of her armor was removed. Stretching, and moving her body back and forth in ways she couldn't do with her armor on.
"Finally! It's good to get all of that off." She murmured to herself. Still close enough to be heard of course. She took her time to see how preparations were going, seeing the tent get erected, and instead went to get her sleeping bag. She had a tent, well, not much of a tent, it was only big enough for one person, and it stood about a foot off the ground for low concealment. She laid it out at the opposite side of the fire, figuring that distance would be kept. She pulled her packs over with it. Her large shield lined with three lances along the inside and an axe were dragged over as well, settling them down next to her sleeping bag. Pulling out a piece of jerky, she started to munch on the dried out meat, crossing her legs as she sat on the soft ground.
"Is there anything you'd like me to do, by chance?" She had to ask, it was the right thing to do, watching as that water began to bubble.

As Orcleous boiled his tea the young maiden went off into the tent to undress. She did not like undressing around Orcleous and she was not going to sleep in her day clothing. At this point it was a normal routine. Orcleous would boil some tea while she would change clothing. It was so much so that Orcleous did not even bother to ask here where she was going. Xeldine just descended into the tent and Orcleous sat around the fire.
"Not really", spoke Orcleous toward the General. "I got everything under control here and it is mostly resting till we get back up in the morning. If you want to help you can take night watch", spoke the Hero as he looked at the tea. It was almost ready. He pulled out a bag out of his sack that contained a jar of sugar. Orcleous drunk his tea all natural, but Xeldine liked to add a few of the white stuff into it. "Mostly I take the first watch and Xeldine covers the dawn. Between you and me and the moon I don't really trust her to stay awake most of the time. She probably goes back to sleep or doze off while watching the horizon."
"I step out for a minute and you are already bad mouthing me", spoke Xeldine as she walked out the tent. The maiden was wearing what looked like a large shirt that ran down to her knees below her knees. To keep it from swaying around to much she had a belt that was wrapped around her waist. In her right hand was orcleous sword, which was slowly but surely starting to become hers. The maiden walked over to the fire and pulled off the pot. She poured a bit of the hot leaf juice into a cup and took a spoon full of sugar. "So Orcleous when do we pass the next river", she asked casually while fixing her tea.
"Probably tomorrow", spoke the Hero as he poured some into his own cup. "Oh sorry", spoke the Hero as he looked at the now armor less maiden. "Do you want some as well", he spoke as he motioned the pot toward her.
"Continuing with her conversation Xeldine began to speak over the hero. "Well next time we pass a river I need to stop and take a bath. The dust and grime of Sacae is going to mess with my skin. Also", she spoke as she looked at Marle. "Aren't you going to set up your tent. Sleeping out in the open air is a good way to get bitten by some strange bug. Not to mention dangerous. Who knows what kind of beat prowls the land."
"And a tent is suppose to help", spoke Orcleous as he looked at her.
"I am not talking about animals", she spoke with a sly smile. "Alright I am going off to bed. Don't let any bandits slit my throat while I am asleep", she spoke as she walked off.
"Don't worry I will just let them crush your skull instead", spoke Orcleous. "Well she grows on you after a while", spoke Orcleous as he sipped his tea. Another long night on night watch.

Marle turned her green eyes to Xeldine, seeing that she had changed. That would...that would probably feel good to do the same. She felt kind of yucky right now, with how her clothes stuck to her body. By comparison to the two of them, she looked awful drab right now. Her attire not really worth much to mention, as it was the most comfortable thing to wear under all that armor. She still wore her padded overshirt, since the night was starting to cool down, and well, even if it wasn't Ilia cold, it was cool enough that she could catch a cold if she wasn't careful. Watching the flames for a moment, the General nodded her head. night watch could be easy enough, it would give her time to practice a little bit too. She was afraid of getting rusty afterall. She hadn't been in a fight for a long time.
"Yeah, I can do that, but would you mind if I take the second second..or last shift? That way it gives me time to prepare my armor for the day, and I won't slow you down when we're about to head out."
Those eyes, narrowed by the light infront of her, looked between the two for an answer for a moment, before remembering about her sleeping arrangement.
"Oh, don't worry, it's actually really warm here compared to where I've grown up. I couldn't do with a tent over my head in this heat anyways. Can barely manage with the armor on some days." A smile flashed over her lips, before nodding and raising a hand to Xeldine. "Alright, you sleep well." A bath would be godsend right about now, but she wasn't such a person to lament about what she can or can't have...though she did want to act on more of those impulses at times.
"I'll still take that tea, if you're still offering."
There Marle sat, shifting at times, not really knowing what to say to the darker skinned fellow, looking him over from time to time, before going up on her knees for a change, when he broke a bit of the silence.
"I can bet. I've had people who grate on me before as well, you learn to tolerate them. She seems like a good girl, just young. It's also probably just a phase. I was like that too. I wanted so much to be a knight when I was younger. I was actually supposed to be married off, and become a wife to a merchant, well...that just didn't sit with me, so I went to join the army at a young age."

"Oh sure", spoke Orcleous as he poured the maiden a cup of tea and handed it too her. "You can take second shift", he while giving her the cup. "If we time it right it came be part way in the middle of Xeldines. That will keep her from falling asleep and let me sleep soundly at night. Every night I got to sleep I prey to the heavens that I wake. As you can tell she is not the best fighting, nor is she the most reliable girl. Though I plan to fix that over time. What kind of teacher would I be if I did not teach her how to wield the blade or pay attention. As for her attitude", spoke Orcleous as he looked at the tent. "I prey it is a phase. Not really sure that most people would put up with her. She has come a long way since I first found her in that ruined carriage. Since then she has really opened up and from what I could guess I thought that was her true personality. Hopefully though you are right and she will grow out of it. Though I think her growth will come more on a battlefield than simple years of experiences. Suffering has a way of molding you", spoke the Hero as he finished off the tea in his cup. He then filled it back up with the pot and placed it back where it was.
"To be truthful I don't see you as the merchant women type", spoke Orcleous as he looked at her. She did not seem the type of person who could sell wares and goods. "I know I have not known you that long and I did most of the talking on the trip, but form what you did say you don't seem to have the social skills necessary for the part. Not saying you can't talk or tell a story, but most merchants are over talkative and slick with there words. Maybe the Elias fella could be a merchant, but not you." Orcleous chuckled a bit at the thought. In his mind he saw her standing in full plate armor trying to sell a man flowers. It was a funny thought, thought illogical.
"Well look on the bright side you did better than me when life slapped me in the face. You left home and became a productive soldier. I left home and got caught grave robbing. As I said before I was kicked off the family farm about two years back. During that time I decided I was going to be a mercenary, but had no armor to protect me. I was too chicken to go into battle with nothing but my shirt and as a result I decided I would steal some armor from a battlefield. I know it sounds stupid, but I was stupid back then. Now that I think about it that was the first time I was introduced to the rebellion and the Loyalist. One of then nabbed me and made me fight as a soldier for a good bit of time, but that is all in the past."
