Aria's muscles felt like they were on fire now. She had no idea how many times she had to poke or prod the monsters off of Chewy. A good chunk of them were starting to overwhelm the red wyvern. But, then she heard something. Something she was taught to avoid, despise, and hate during the civil war. She had never met any pegasus riders. And she was not a part of the rebellion. No her time in Bern during the war was spent flying around from village to village helping out the people with the day to day things.
But, these three riders came from the skies and started to help her. She'd have to thank the ladies herself with a drink down the line.
"Hey, Thanks! But, we should focus on helping those stuck in the shed." She shouted. Chewy shook off any remaining bone walkers off of her scaley body. She jumped and took to the sky. She flew herself over the wall towards the survivors. Towards those who were fighting their hardest to keep these monsters out and defend those who couldn't fight. Mostly women and children.
Aria panted a bit. She took from her leg pocket a swig of something. The apothecary called it a concoction. Aria called it gross. She tapped Chewy on the head and the wyvern pulled her head towards her. She gave the mighty beast a swig of it too. The wyvern swallowed it down and shook her head in displeasure.
"I know it tastes like bile. All things that are good for us taste like bile." She had a list of things that tasted awful that were good for you. Ginger. Dill. Fish oil. This stuff. She shook her head. The tonic was working. She could feel the fire in her flesh calm down a bit. After a few more minutes of recovery she'd guide Chewy back up and come again for another bowling pass.

"Archers Fire", shouted the guard captain as he waved his hand. A rain of arrows flew though the air and began to rain down upon the undead outside of the city gates. Men rushed all around moving to assist the forces in the center while children and women who could not fight hid in there homes. The war in the north was still on the brink. The guards held firm on the flanks, but the center was as chaotic as the moment the volunteer forces rushed in to aid in the fighting. The undead focused all of there efforts in breaking that area, but the wall of death on there right and left flanks made it difficult. In this middle of this chaos Xanthos had his own battle to deal with.
"Hiyya!" Xanthos' short sword came down with all the furry he could muster. The bonewalker however easily parried the blow and struck out with his curved blade. The sword was caught by the edge of the mercenaries shield. The dance had gone on for a minute, a long time for a fight in this chaotic arena. That grace period came to a crashing end. A zombie, looking for a fresh meal rushed in and attacked Xanthos with his claws. The mercenary was forced to defend with his blade. His actions left a opening that the bonewalker moved to take advantage of. With a quick swing of its blade the bonewalker moved to place a sword between Xanthos' ribs. However it's attack was interrupted by a hammer blow from another human warrior. With the beast focuse on Xanthos it had let its guard down and paid the ultimate price.
"Thanks shouted Xanthos as he countered the mindless undead. His short sword sliced it's head clean of it's shoulders as he moved to join back in with the rest of the fight.
As the battle raged in the north the riders of the south moved to save the villagers. Following the advice of the wyvern rider the three peggies made there move. While one aided in the defense of the gate the other two loaded up as many people as there mount could carry and began to fly them off toward the city wall in the distance. There goal was to hold out long enough to get everyone out.

Aria felt that enough time had passed and that both her and her mount had recovered enough. With another wordless command Chewy took to the air once again. Aria took note of the pegasus riders. Two of them were trying to cart people over towards the walled village. That was probably for the best. One pegasus was out there helping with the defense of the gate. Aria decided to help her. Chewy let out another ear-piercing roar and dove down for a second pass. That roar was a warning for the pegasus rider to move back. The enemies she had been fighting in front of her would be bowled over by the giant red mass that was Chewy's scaley body.
Aria ducked her head low again. And then pulled on the reigns when she saw the right moment. Chewy shifted her wings and flew right at the undead bastards. Her large body bowled over them once more. And just like before the massive red wyvern landed nearby. She roared. Grunted. And tail slammed until she got the undead's attention. Aria, on the other hand, wasn't quite right. One of the bodies of the undead had knocked her helmet out of place. The rider had to pull herself up and fix it before she could do any sort of defending for Chewy. But, the wyvern had just finished pissing off a chunk of undead. So she had to fix her helmet with Chewy swinging her tail and body around in defense. One undead took advantage of the rider's confusion and climbed it's way up the wyvern and grabbed the rider's arm. Aria managed to turn the helmet enough so that one eye can see what happened. And then the undead's mouth was met with her fist. And she kicked it off too. She finally managed to fix her helmet and grabbed her lance. Back into the fray!

Things began to move into a heroic shift as the volunteers began to rally. The sudden boost of moral came from a group of strange citizens who rushed to the battle ground with musical instruments and ladies in flowing clothing. Xanthos thought they were both crazy and a useless distraction, but once the music started to flow he could feel the magic. The song and dance sent a wave of energy roaring through his body. The soldiers and volunteers began to press on doubly fold and there assult was empowered by the heroic tunes of the people behind them.
"What kind of magic is this", spoke Xanthos aloud as he felt a rush of energy surge through his body. As he spoke a bonewalker made its assault. Its curved blade struck in to attack Xanthos expose ribs. However the mercenbary was quick with the blade. He parried the blow with his short sword, a move the bonewalker did not see coming, and then slammed his shield right into the creatures skull, the blow killed the creature in a instant. The mercenary then rushed in and began to join the press in the center. The volunteers were beginning to form a wedge and press there way through the now dwindling horde of undead. At the rate things were going the battle for the north would soon be over.
In the south the battle was going as one would expect. The number of fighters were not as large as the north. The men had taken up pitch forks and lances and defended there own small gate the best they could. It was the efforts of the mounted warriors that really kept the fight alive however. Once the horde would pile up enough where the villagers could not hold them back a rider would swoop down and throw there mounts onto the beast. There ambushes were enough to keep the struggle going while two of them attempted to get as many citizens out as they could.

Aria kept guiding Chewy's movement. They wyvern's massive size and hard scales served as a battering ram towards the horde of monsters. Aria kept most of them off of her mount with her lance. Her legs kicked away any stragglers that tried to come up the wyvern's side. Aria's focus was on the horde and keeping them away from the gate. She had no control over the enemy if they chose to go around the gate and attack from another angle. She doubted the enemy would do that though. There were three other pegsai and their riders in the air. Surely one of them would notify the others of the attack should it shift that way.
THe horde looked like it was thinning out. Chewy and Aria had been fighting hard for a while now. And there was a good number of re-dead corpses scattered around them. Chewy did her best to crush the heads with either her large feet or her tail. A good slam from that thing was enough to break the bones of the living. Rider and wyvern did not have unlimited energy. Aria could feel the fatigue in her body. Her breaths were becoming much more ragged and she found it a little harder to pick up her lance after each stab. Chewy was starting to show signs of tiredness. She had stopped roaring and antagonizing the undead. If this battle didn't let up soon the two of them would be forced to retreat again to recover their energy. They didn't want to do that. They wanted to fight and protect the people trapped behind the walls. They could only hope and pray that those fighting in the northern battle killed the leader of this attack soon.

Victory, the word seemed to hang in the air as the northern forces cut down the last of the undead abomination. A lot of good guys lost there lives during the fighting, but they were ultimately capable of not only pushing the monsters back, but completely annihilating there ranks. The cut throats were out making sure they were all completely dead, but the job was done. Well not completely done. The south, it still needed reinforcements. The order came down to the guard and they relayed it to the volunteers. There was still blood to be spilled. With flutes an horns leading the charge the battle weary northern forces marched toward the south gate.
You could hesr them before you could see them. The people trapped behind the southern gate were starting to lose heart. The undead were pressing there meager line with intense ferocity. There riders, there only life line were starting to give under the bu;l of the zombie horde. It was then in there darkest hour the sound of trumpets roared over the crowd and filled not only the air but the defender souls. The southern gate suddenly open and the undead were greeted with a angry mob of armed citizens singing a war chant to Roland in complete harmony. with a wave of a hand arrows were fired into the horde as the archers fired from the top of the gate. A group of brave volunteers lead by Xanthos no less formed themselves into a wedge. On the command of Xanthos they began to fight there way through the horde and move to link up with the battle weary southern forces.

Just.. gotta hold out a little longer.. they.. are almost.. done getting everyone out.. Aria told herself that as she tugged on Chewy's reigns. She managed to move the wyvern away from the business end of a skeleton's spear. The wyvern retaliated by shoulder slamming the skeleton. Both wyvern and rider were exhausted at this point. They would have to leave the battle for a brief respite like before. Although, Aria wasn't sure she would be able to bring Chewy back into the fray if they were to leave. She knew the situation with the wall was dire. And while the prospect was a cruel one, she would be forced to abandon those innocent people if she felt her and Chewy's life were in danger. The white winged riders were still doing what they could to escort the people out one by one.
"Just.. a bit.. more.." She spoke in a hushed voice. Her lance was firmly lobbed into the chest cavity of a re-dead skeleton. She was forced to use whatever remained of her Javelin stock to finish the job. She counted about ten javelins that she could use. Either to lob one of the oversized toothpicks at a distant enemy or use it as a close range weapon. The only issue with javelins was that they were lighter than the usual lance due to their wood. They needed to be lighter in their composition so that they can sail through the air. This lessened their close range damage output. The evidence of this lower quality wood was seen in the corpses around her. Many of those had broken javelins lodged in them in some which way. Her efforts to keep Chewy safe from a distance.
She was exhausted and pushed to her limits. She grabbed the reigns again and tugged. Just as she was about to give Chewy the order to retreat, a miracle appeared. The forces that had been fighting in the north had joined the group in the south. Reinforcements had arrived! That was a relief. Aria tugged on the reigns again this time to have Chewy back pedal a few feet away from the main action. The reinforcements swarmed around and took to the front. Both rider and wyvern would recover from their ordeal towards the rear of the group.
And with the combined efforts of both parties, the monsters were defeated. The bodies of the dead were subsequently burned and the survivors left to repair the damages. Despite this set back the festival continued as planned. Aria enjoyed her time and the festivities until it was time to move on.
End thread.
