Hal had gone back into the town he was in seeing the company he was packing up. "Hal boy, if you want to keep earning your keep hurry your ass up. There's too many old idealist in this town, that just become ugly and hurts the chances of money making."
"O-okay Sir!" Hal went running towards the wagon and climbing aboard.
The spent the next two days traveling south to another 'prime' location. Helping set up for a day and a half which was faster then expected. "Go enjoy yourselves, but not too much. Be back to the inn back nightfall." the troop master said. Hal was wondering around town thinking about his family. "We're two days away from my home town. I hope everybody's doing okay, I wish Becky wasn't sent off to marry into a nobles family. What did he see in her anyways, dirt test better then her cooking and I was better at house work then her. Some men I'll never understand."
"You there boy, ever dream of flying upon a wyvren?" Hal looked as a man in leather armor started to speak to him. He was interested in what he had to say since he was talking about riding wyvrens. Hal was almost ready to squeal like a girl in excitement if it was true. "Why yes, yes I am kind sir." The man laughed "Hahaha, that's the spirit boy. I'm apart of a troupe that have a few tamed wyvrens and for a price you could ride one, with an ex-soldier of course. We're looking for people to give free rides to to show the others how much fun it is. What do you say?"
"WHEN!!" Hal said in surprise and joy. "We start in an hour come follow me." Hal had followed the man. He had asked if he could wait with the ex-soldiers so he could talk to them the barker showed him where they were waiting. They spoke of the days flying under the flag of Bern was fascinating to Hal. Mainly because they had experience flying. One bragged about surviving a battle that Alan had been fighting for the other group. Another was bragging that he fought along the side of Alan before he deflected and how much talent he had then too, even though he was still a rookie.
Even if he was wanted by Bern, Alan sounded like a real hero to Hal. He had even helped stopped the bandit king Hargus according to the rumors, even though the old king of Bern denied.

That hour flew by quickly. Hal was the first given a chance to fly. The crowd grew large as the barker spoke. Sitting in the saddle Hal was more ready for the next few moments then he had ever been for anything. The thrill of flight was so... so... exhilarating, he had to do it again. Of course all of his money went to his parents so he couldn't waste it on flying.
After landing the thought struck him. If he had joined the army he could fly and still send money home. "Excuse me, sir Kyle." the ex-soldier looked at him and asked him what he wanted. "Where would I have to go to sign up for the army?" He had learned that there was recruitment office in town, but it wasn't wise to join. Since they were at peace with everybody there was no real action, just patrolling in the air, fending off bandits when needed. Hal didn't care, just flying was enough to get him in the army.
Going in he had to do an endurance test. Hal passed that with flying colors, working in the mines then with the traveling circus, he had been used to hard work. Hal had told him his clothes size and was issued a uniform. "What, these don't look like the ones I've seen before." "Yea that's the thing. Since we lost we don't have our own army, just apart of Illia's with people of our land. Technically we're apart of their army, that Sasuke... At first they wasn't going to allow us to have one to defend ourselves but he was able to talk them into it, saying if they were apart of their army with our people and if they were attacked they could pull them north. Oh yea one last thing, other then the endurance test there's one last thing. The real test is being a squire to a soldier, learn the rope from them and if they don't think you can handle it you're cut."
Hal shook his head as he took the uniform. "Hurry and change. Report in at sun rise, I'll have your soldier you'll be training under then." Hal had went to the inn his troupe had rooms for. Walking in he went to the ring master and told him he had quit, he's now apart of the army. He now had now room so he wondered the streets. He sat down leaning on a building trying to think of the type of person he was going to learn from.

A man in a dark blue cloak with the hood up strode silently through the streets of a city in the nation of Bern. He kept to himself for the most part, his face partially hidden by his hood. What seemed to be a messenger bag hung at his right side, appearing to be fairly full. Spotting a young man sitting leaned against a building he stops for a moment and slowly approaches, extending his hand down to the boy. "It's not a good idea for a young man like you to be out and about in the city alone. Come with me to the inn and we'll get you a place to rest. Perhaps we can chat a bit, too."
Achaziah wasn't exactly old by most standards, but he was older than this boy. He knew the ins and outs of city life and rural life, too, having traveled all around Bern. If the boy was looking for something then maybe Achaziah could help him find it.
Great...a total stranger asks you to come to an Inn with him to chat. What's someone supposed to think of that? He's probably gonna think I'm creepy or weird.... Curse my insufferable need to help people who look troubled. Bah...I'm hopeless.

"Who is this... creepozoid? What does he want with me?"
Standing up Hal responded "What do you want to chat about?"
"A free room to stay would be nice... Hopefully I can use this uniform to intermediate him into not harming me."
"Also what's your name?" Hal had shifted his body trying to use the light near him to peer into the man's hood.

Achaziah rolled his eyes under his hood and sighed. Just as he had anticipated, this boy was weirded out by him. Seeing the boy try to get a better view of his face, Achaziah reached up with his left hand and pulled his hood back to reveal his deep purple eyes, pitch black hair, and the scar on his lip. "I saw you sitting there alone and you looked troubled. I thought you might tell me about it. Maybe I can help. My name is Achaziah Daegal. I'm a traveling Monk of sorts."

"Hal's the name, soldier of the Bern chapter of the Illan army." Hal said sticking his hand out to Achaziah.
"Now I hope he bought that. If he is thinking about mugging me maybe he'll think twice since I claimed to be in the army. Dear god I hope I don't have to fight."

Kessel yawned as he lounged in his chair in the barracks common room. He glanced at his opponent briefly, considering whether or not he had a chance at winning, then promptly decided he didn't care that much. He reached out towards his opponent and-
"Kessel! Get the hell in here!"
Hearing the recruitment officers yell, Kessel briefly glanced at the door leading out of the common room. By the time he looked back, his opponent had a smug look on his face. Kessel, whose arm was frozen outstretched, resumed his movement, and lazily plucked the third card from the left from his opponent's hand. As he did, his opponent grinned, saying "Heh, you lose this time Kessel. Now pay up."
"Tch, whatever, this makes what, your fourth win? Out of 20 hands?" Kessel smirked. "Don't be so cocky." He placed his cards on the table and tossed the small clinking sack of silver to the other man as he stood. As he walked out of the room, he said, "Don't spend it all in one place now."

OoC: Sorry for double post, but it didn't flow in one.
IC: "'Bout time you got here," the recruitment officer said. "We got's another signed up today. I'm giving him to you. Any problems?" He said warily, remembering the last recruit who hadn't treated wyvern's with the proper respect.
Kessel sighed. "No, no problem. What's his name?"
"Hal something or other. He should be wandering around town right about now I think." The officer shrugged. "I told him to be back here tomorrow mornin'.
"Fine, fine. Well, I'm heading out, need to get away from my card buddy, he'll be insufferable for awhile." Kessel started walking out the door, giving a wave over his shoulder.
As he stepped out onto the street, he thought to himself, "Now if I were a new recruit, where would I go?" After a second's pause, he decided on a random direction and began walking, hoping to observe this new recruit.

Achaziah chuckled at the young man's claim of being a soldier. He seemed to be a bit too young to be a soldier. Perhaps a squire or trainee, but not a full fledged soldier. Achaziah just shook his head and smiled. "You're an interesting one, Hal. Believe me when I say that it is very rare to find a soldier who is so young. You must have real talent. I don't think I've seen anyone your age who was a soldier in my travels...and I've been to villages in Bern that aren't even listed on some maps."
As he spoke, Achaziah motioned for Hal to follow as he started to make his way towards the Inn. "So, Hal...why did you join the military?"

Again with the attack on his age. What was with people these days, he's probably worked harder in the past two years then most people do their whole life. "Ever since I was little I've always wanted to fly. I wasn't apart of a rich family so we couldn't just buy a tamed wyvern, joining the army was like killing to birds with one stone. I could help support my family and get to fly. But can we head to the inn already? It's starting to get cold out here."
Hal couldn't tell if Achaziah believed his bluff about being in the military.

As Kessel was walking, he thought, "Jeez, I got his name, but I don't what he looks like. The officer probably did that on purpose." He sighed.
Deciding that it might be better to search the inns - after all, if this Hal wasn't supposed to meet up with him till the next morning, he should be staying in an inn - he took a right at the next corner and entered the first inn - which coincidentally had a tavern. His choice wasn't affected whatsoever with his being hungry. Nope, not at all.
Kessel walked in, the smell of food cooking and the sound of chatter giving the place a warm feel. He seated himself at a table with a good view of the room and door, and ordered whatever the places' regular dinner was and an ale from a barmaid.
As he waited on his food, he relaxed and looked around the room, wondering if any of the people there were this Hal he was looking for.

Achaziah only asked himself under his breath, "Cold?" He nodded to Hal after that and they would both hopefully set out for the Inn. Traveling through the city streets here was no different for Achaziah than anywhere else in Bern. He got the occasional perplexed stare along with a couple of looks that seemed to scream 'get out of our city, you creep'. Still, he didn't pay them any mind. He knew who he was and why he was here. If they were too quick to judge him then they weren't worth his time. He tried not to be hypocritical because of this fact, but it was difficult. He was only human, after all.
Once they both arrived at the Inn, Achaziah would approach the keeper and speak, "Two rooms, Inn keeper. Thanks." He would slide a small bag with ten gold across the counter to him. The man took the bag and counted its contents, "Yer a bit generous, ain't ya?"
"Please....keep it to yourself. Alright?" Achaziah then nodded and waited for him to tell him what rooms he and Hal would be staying in. "Yer in the two rooms facing each other at the far end of the west wing up the stairs. Thank ye again."
Achaziah nodded once more and turned back to Hal, "You keep this to yourself, too, got it?"

Hal sniffed the air, the food smelled great. "Yea, but I'm hungry. I'm going to get something to eat." Hal had then turned and walked towards the tavern. "If you really want to chat then I advice you follow." He then found a spot and sat down, waiting to see if the man would join him or not.

As Kessel was waiting for his food, he slowly sipped his ale, surveying the tavern's patrons. No one else there besides him had the distinctive feel of a soldier. That was to be expected, really. Several people had the potential though.
As his food arrived, the wyvern rider glimpsed two people speaking with the innkeeper through the connecting door. One wearing a blue cloak, and the other - "Ah, that must be him. Haven't had very many recruits recently..." As his thought trailed off, he noticed the boy - no, soldier-to-be now - walking in his direction before taking a seat at a table not far from his own. Kessel contemplated going to him now, but decided against it. Instead, he settled into his meal after signaling for another ale, discreetly observing the recruit.

Achaziah said nothing to the young man's words and merely followed as he'd been asked to. When Hal sat down, Achaziah sat down across the table from him and rested his elbows on the table, fingers laced under his chin."So....Why were you running around a town like this alone again? Do you live in this town, or were you traveling with someone previously?"
