Chelsea felt her pity for Val swell as he talked. She knew he wouldn't want her to pity him, so she didn't let it show on her face. Her face did grow slightly red at his praise of her. She stayed quiet through the whole thing, letting him speak his peace. She had a feeling this wasn't exactly easy for him to say all this, but at the same time it needed to be said. So she waited and listened until he had said his fill.
When he had finally said everything he needed, she took a step closer and rested her hand on his shoulder. She took a breath before starting. "Val, I-" But before she could speak anymore she heard a voice on the wind. Was it male or female? She couldn't tell yet, maybe the person was too far away. A figure, she saw, was walking towards them. She quickly looked back at Val and whispered, "We'll continue this later, I promise." She the turned back to the newcomer. "Who are you?"

Valcrist cringed for the horrible, soul crushing, devastating woman bomb on his manhood that would make him turn to men for companionship for the rest of his life, but instead all he get was a shoulder touch, a 'Val I-' and then a sudden but totally not unwanted intrusion. We'll continue this later indeed! Or, if Val had his way, never. Never ever. He should just run away like the little wuss he was. It would of been sooooo much easier. But no, no, he had to stay like the stupid human he was.
He looked at the person. Looked like a boy. A scrawny blond boy! Val nudged Chelsea with his elbow. "Psst. Hey. You should aim your bow at him. It's only fair."

Ilyadia smiled. So far so good. It wasn't like they had drawn their weapons on him. Always a good sign... When he heard the question of who was he, he grinned. "I am Ilyadia, a nomad from around here." he said. There was no need to shout anymore, as he was getting closer to the pair. Now that he was closer, he could distinguish that the male carried a sword and the female had a bow. "Might I ask who you are?"
This was going great so far. The happy thoughts had returned, and, as long as Ilyadia had any say in the matter, they were going to stay. No use thinking negative thoughts!

Chelsea gave Val a begrudging smile before listening to the boy speak. A nomad? From around here? Him? In one motion, she drew her bow and readied an arrow, aiming at him. "You expect me to believe you're a nomad from around here? Do you have any way to prove that? Cause right now I'm thinking that's a lie and I don't like people who lie about being from my home. So can you prove it? Or am I gonna have to shoot you?"

Ilyadia stopped for a moment. Well, there went the whole 'going well' thing... "Proof? You want proof that a young male, travelling all by himself in Sacae, is from one of the nomadic tribes? I have never seen no land other than the plains all my life." he said, his grin leaving his face. He took out his own bow. "And you say that you are from Sacae as well. Wouldn't that make us almost like kin? And would kin shoot each other? And, if we do.... What would the world be coming to?"

"You say you're from Sacae, yet you look nothing like a Sacaen," Chelsea said, not lowering her bow. "Your garb is nothing like I've seen an Sacae wear before. For all I know you could be one of the raiders, or worse, trying to gain our trust only to kill or enslave us after. You say you've never seen anywhere but the plains, but those are just words. So, I'll ask you again. Do you have any proof that you truly are a boy of the plains? A clan name? An heirloom? Anything? Or will I have to kill you where you stand?" While inside the archer was nervous about following through on her threat, nothing of that nervousness showed. As far as anyone could tell, she would follow through with no hesitation.

"Well she's right about the garb atleast. Heck, I look more Sacaen then you, and I'm Nabatan. That's more of a... Lycian set of clothing. Light armor with a cloak atop, correct?" He held a single finger to his cheek as he gazed and took in the man's apparel, holding on to his elbow with his spare hand. Then he realized he was just totally commenting on someone else's clothing, felt very awkward, and dropped it. An embarrassing skill for such a manly man like Valcrist. He turned to Chelsea with a nervous, if not slightly worried grin.
She'll KILL him? Geez. A little harsh there Chels. "Erm... Maybe we should all just calm down or something. I doubt he's a bandit or anything like that. And look how he's holding his bow. He's a complete novice." Like he could hold it any better, but he knew how it was supposed to go. It was part of his trade, plus he's watched Chelsea fight plenty of times. "Erm, not like I could do better mind you, but, erm..." Val kinda sputtered. "It's not really a crime to just be wandering the plains... is it?" Did I break some kind of Sacaen law? Is that why she was going to shoot me!? I was just kidding about the bow thing, I was joking about how she drew her bow on me for no good reason. Maybe I did something wrong?

Ilyadia put his bow back on his shoulder. He had no way of proving that he was actually from the plains now that he thought about it. So he ignored what the girl said, instead turning to the boy. He listened to what he said about his clothes, and then looked down at his cloak and armor. "Really? Lycia? That's interesting...." he said quietly.
And thy last bit of what he said... "As far as I am aware, even if I wasn't a nomad, it isn't a crime to wander the plains." And, thinking about it, he had put off answering the girl for far to long now...
"I have no way of proving I am a nomad other than my word. But now, I believe I have the right to ask you a few questions. Why are you, Sacaean girl, travelling with this Nabataean boy all by yourselves? What is your intent? And, might I add one last thing: if I were a bandit, wouldn't I have already tried to kill you by now?"

Chelsea felt her bow and arrow slip from her hands and fall to the ground, followed shortly by herself. What had she become since she left home? Almost killing someone just by looks? Before, she never would have questioned anyone saying they were from Sacae, but now she was paranoid about everything. Losing the last member of your family like she did could do that, but it was no excuse. Who was she?
The archer felt her eyes starting to water and quickly pulled her headband down over them. Right now she was a young girl crying over the body of her dying brother, or a slightly older girl crying as her mother faded away. Everything just came crashing back on her in that instant. Nathan, mother, father... Rayl leaving the group, Karina and Val too, parting ways with Kelvin...
Spirit trotted over and laid down behind the crying girl, nuzzling her side softly. But Chelsea didn't notice. She didn't notice anything. Not Spirit, Val, the boy, the grass, the dirt, the sky or the sun. Not even herself. She certainly wasn't the girl she was supposed to be. Blame it on the times, the situation, the stress... none of it mattered. She changed so much she felt if her younger self met her now she wouldn't recognize her. Nor would her family. How did this happen? She couldn't even think anymore. All she could do was cry into her headband, and cry she did.

Ilyadia watched as the girl fell to the ground and a horse he hadn't noticed before walk over to her and nuzzle her. Had he done something to make her have this reaction? Or was this something else? He didn't know the girl, but it was still in his nature to go over to her. And so he began to walk over, paying no attention to the boy with the sword or the fact that he ha just met these two traveler's and didn't even know their names.
He knew a thing or two about girls. He had hung out with his older sisters as much as he had his brothers, and he knew that female's were not just fairer than males, they were also far more delicate beings. Where one might challange a man to a duel, one should give a woman a hug. Ilyadia was by no means sexist. He just knew how things were. As he got closer to the pair and the horse, he stopped, looking at the boy, attempting to see if he was trying his luck ti far by coming this close.

"Chelsea...." Val quietly said, a frown on his face. He knew that this was, in part, his fault. Why she was sad, well it seemed to Val that it was regret. She regretted what she did, it was not like Chelsea to be so hostile to strangers, in fact she was usually very kind towards them. This was something Valcrist knew from first-hand experience. He didn't know Chelsea as well as she knew herself, but he could tell she was sad. Sad and beating herself up over something. He paid the boy no attention, he was barely a factor here.
He didn't know if it was 'appropriate', especially after that little speech he gave before. But dammit if he didn't care. He reached out and embraced the crying Sacaen girl. He didn't want her to cry, and he did the only thing he could. If it made her cheer up, even the smallest bit, he didn't mind getting yelled at later.

Chelsea kept crying. And crying. She couldn't stop herself. She thought she heard steps at one point, but she didn't bother to check. She didn't care. If could be a bandit for all she cared right now. It would just reunite her with her family. Sure, Kelvin and Val might be sad, but she didn't care. It wasn't them she yearned to be with, it was her family. Nothing else mattered.
Then a pair of arms wrapped around her, for a second, she was stunned. Tears kept flowing, but she was taken aback. It was if the world came rushing back to her. She felt the dirt and the heat of the sun and the fabric over her eyes. Her first thoughts were of Kelvin. He had hugged her the last time she had broken down like this. But... Kelvin wasn't here. Who was it then? She slightly lifted her headband up, the light blinding her for a second. When her eyes adjusted, she could barely make out a figure through the water built up in her eyes. "V-Val...?" Then she lost it again, her tears flowing fresh. Completely forgetting what had happened earlier, she threw herself into his chest, sobbing heavily against him.

He was shocked, he had half expected her to toss him for doing something bold like this. But... it made him happy, closing his arm as the girl he... holding Chelsea. Knowing that even if it's small, that he was helping her. He didn't smile, but rather he looked calm. His hand on her back with his eyes closed. He knew better then to say something right now, that would only make things worse. Valcrist wasn't... he wasn't good with words. He said the wrong things, he didn't say enough or he says too much. He was glad to know that he was able to help her with actions, things that didn't get messed up going through his mind.

Ilyadia, at this point, was just awkwardly standing off to the side. He gave the two a minute as they continued to hug, and them gave a small cough. Of course, he didn't want to be inconsiderate to the couple, but, still... He at least wanted to know for certain if they were still going to kill him. That was kinda important. At least, he knew for certain that the girl would no longer attack him. Not in this state. No, if anyone was going to attack him now, it would be the boy for interrupting this hug with his girlfriend. And Ilyadia really didn't want to be on the receiving end of his, or anyone else's, blade. Dying was usually inconvienent.

It took a few minutes, but Chelsea was able to slowly get herself under control. Sniffing, she wiped her eyes one last time and lifted her headband for good. Looking embarrassed, she looked up at Val. "Thank you..." Still sniffing, she staggered to her feet. She picked up her fallen bow and arrow and put them away. She then turned to the boy whom she had neglected for the last few minutes. "I'm sorry for my actions, I do hope you'll forgive me. My name is Chelsea, and my friend here is Valcrist, or Val for short. I've been under a great deal of stress lately and it just broke me down. I'm sorry." She gave a small bow to the boy. "If you would like to travel with us for a little bit I would be honored to have another plainsmen in our little group."
