Meanwhile, on the rooftops only a short distance away:
"Nice Horsy.... Nice Horsy.... Don't move. Ol Burt's not gonna hurt ya.... Just wanna take care of ya for a lil bit. Till you sell, maybe?"
The large white winged pegasus stood on the edge of the roof tops, watching the strange two-legs. It'd been following him for about an hour now, and he was really beginning to tire of hopping the strange hollow ground he stood on. It didn't matter, this one always followed again, making strange noises which sounded like something a predator would make all the while. Not that he was particularly worried. It was almost amusing how this one kept trying to chase him.
Burt growled under his breath as he took a looped rope out off of his shoulder. This time, would be different. He was really tired of all huffing and puffing and climbing he'd had to go through. Time for the payoff. All he needed was the stuff lashed to the harness. The beast would be a nice prize, if he could manage it, but that lance and the tack, hell, even the supplies on it looked like they'd make him for the next year. Living the dream!
He looped the rope about a large crate a couple of times, staying as quiet and calm as he could before tying it off, and fashioning a lasso with the other end. Then he held it up for his prize to see. "See this? It's harmless. It's also what separates us from the dumb brutes of animals.... Like you." He'd lasso the feather bag, and then when it ran, it wasn't going to get very far. This was it.
With a deft hand, he tossed the rope, and looped it right over the pegasus' neck, exulting in his triumph as he did so.
Rope? Corona snorted, and pawed the ground as the rope looped over his neck, lowering his head angrily. This was something his rider practiced with him sometimes, but this strange, scrawny, ugly little two legs was not his rider. Or even trained, for that matter. He'd had to train his Clair for quite awhile before he'd trusted her with this....
Corona let out a loud whinny, and one more snort before charging the little man. Oh, this would be fun. He was backpedaling a bit, but in a moment he would figure out that he didn't have enough speed to escape the hooves of this flyer. He ran over where the man had been, but the two legs had managed to avoid most of the hit, only taking a slight bump. No matter, Corona unfurled his massive wings and swept up into the air, only to hit a quick sharp jolt that tried to bring him to a stop. The rope was tied to something? There was a loud whoosh of air as his wings drove downward again, and he surged forward, unbound by the pathetic weight.
"Dammit!!!" That blasted pony had tried to crush him. He'd had no idea that it was that big until he was practically right under it. His shoulder smarted pretty good. Almost hyper extended it from that impact. No matter, he turned to watch the effects of his trap. He smirked as the thing came to a stop in the air, but it quickly faded as he saw the thing surge forward again. There was a loud scraping of noise behind him, which he couldn't identify until he turned and saw the bouncing over the top of the roof towards him. His eyebrows shot up right before he took the smashing impact, and was quickly dragged off the roof.
Corona felt the weight hit him again, and pendulum down beneath him as he fought for altitude. The weight disappeared after a loud crash though, and he was left only with the rope tied to his neck. He crossed over the main valley, and landed on another of the hollow grounds. There still wasn't any grass here.... The winged monsters chasing his rider had disappeared as well. He needed to find his rider. He was so alone....

Wyatt had a lot of things he wanted to say to Richter. Asking if the people whose lives were destroyed here cared about Etrurians, asking how Bern could tear itself apart if there was nothing here to fight, or even questioning the Commander's motives.
But he remained silent. He was just an illiterate smith with a rare weapon and probably a life long injury. Why would Richter ever care what he had to say, he was a peasant. Even beyond that, Wyatt got the feeling that Richter's mind would not be changed easily, or at all. Hah, perhaps Elias had been right.
What made Richter a friend? Honestly, the Ilian had done nothing for him except watch his back in a fight. Not like he'd had the opportunity to do so, but still. He'd saved Richter's life twice the first day he met him. Getting him out of jail and out of the city with his diversion. He'd saved Clair's life just two days ago, when Richter left her bleeding on the arena floor, and all he got was neutral with the grizzled man? Maybe he was just stressed, maybe he was worried about Clair, maybe there were a hundred potential excuses...
But that didn't excuse the facts. When they were in danger, Wyatt had stormed into hell without a second thought, and Mana had been at his side to protect someone she'd known for an hour. Someone who needed their help. Sure the rescue hadn't gone all according to plan but...
Enough. Thinking on this wasn't going to resolve anything. With a nod to the Commander, Wyatt turned to leave the city. He needed to talk to Clair...maybe they both needed the conversation.

Richter hadn't gone far before he heard a commotion arise; a loud crash, a harsh yell, and a proud...whinny? The commander's eyes shot skyward at the sound, only to see a familiar, great white pegasus unfurl its wings and launch itself into the air. Corona. Indeed, Richter could even see Clair's fancy thunder spear lashed to his side. There was also something that Richter could see trailing behind it by a rope. Was it a man? Yes, it seemed to be a very sad, frustrated looking man being dragged on his belly by the far more powerful pegasus.
From where the commander was standing, he didn't look like anybody that should have their rope around the neck of Clair's pegasus, and and it was almost amusing watching the unfortunate fellow get battered about as he helplessly tried to restrain the creature. But after a couple seconds of staring, Richter realized that Corona, the pegasus he was supposed to be finding, was now flying away!
Richter's eyes scanned the nearby landscape, looking for a way up onto the rooftops. No immediate access. Damn! Jumping into action, the pink haired Ilian darted around the nearest corner, turning onto an alleyway that would put him in the same direction as the fleeing pegasus, but was halted by the falling body of Corona's attempted captor landing right in front of him.
No time to stop, the commander bounded over the fallen form, attempting to keep his eyes on Corona as best he could. It was difficult, though, as the flying creature kept popping in and out of view from behind the rooftops above him.
"Corona!" Richter shouted at the pegasus, waving his hands and hoping he could get the creature's attention. "Corona! Uh, heel!"

So that's why we're fighting, Tuatara thought. He had been following the two as they walked toward the gate. I've always wondered what all this fighting was for. The only reason I came back is because of my friends. One of which is now dead and the other is missing... He thought a moment about how he had gotten to where he was while Richter addressed the guards.
Aeros is the reason I'm here. And that weird mercenary, what was his name? Marco? A lot of people have saved my skin over the years it seems... Tuatara began to feel a little nostalgic. And then he ruined his own moment. Which reminds me, where in the blazes is Aeros? How did I even lose him? He wouldn't purposely leave me, and it's not like I fell off while he was flying or anything. He thought about it for a moment. Who knows-
Richter turned to leave so Tuatara turned on his heel, cape fluttering through the air as he did. They had barely walked five feet when they caught sight of their quarry. And an amateur thief by the looks of it. This is why we have a bad name... he thought as he ran after Richter. He saw Richter jump over the guy, who was now on the ground.
The guy began getting up, seeming to realize what Richter was doing. And Tuatara saw his chance. He looked between the building and the man who was now half off the ground and rising. He grinned. Tuatara continued to run, and then jumped, a foot landing on the other man's shoulder. He quickly pushed off so that the man wouldn't fall before he had his chance. Ah, Tuatara thought as he grasped the edge of the roof. And then he realized he forgot something.
"OW!" Tuatara yelled as his body crashed against the wooden side of the house. He hung there a moment as he felt himself slipping. "Gah." He finally swung his foot over the edge after a few attempts. He eventually got up and stood, his body still aching a bit.
"HAHA!" Tuatara said in victory. He looked around to make sure no one saw his mistake. It'll be smooth sailing from now on. Yep, no more hitches or problems. Now where's Corona? He could hear Richter yelling at the pegasus from the street.

Well that was suitably dramatic, still it left Elias in an awkward position. Scratching his head and a bit at a loss at what he should do. He didn't know this place, he didn't know anyone here outside of a missing Wyatt and a belligerent Mana, and he wasn't just about to leave over a little tiff. He traveled all the way across the world after all, to leave now would be very exhausting. He can't trust Wyatt not to kill his self again either. Ugh. Now he was feeling a little guilty he didn't tag along after all.
Eh whatever, he's a grown man. If he can't go five minutes without hurting his self, then Elias would just have to fix him up again. So instead Elias looked around with curious eyes, a few people walking around taking notice of the outlandish mage's presence but not saying anything. It still felt weird around here, like a strange feeling in the pit of his stomach he couldn't quite pin on anything in general. It felt big, like bigger than whatever little problems were going on, more important than arguing about whatever. Maybe it was the feel of war? Elias had been involved in wars before, but never really paid it much mind. That was years ago when he was still hopelessly stuck on his self. He never gave it much thought, at the time the people they were fighting were just some kind of villain wearing a mask and shouting about how they loved to dance on flowers and kick puppies and junk. With his newfound appreciation for people that aren't Elias, came a strange deep seated uneasiness and guilt. While he could push through without too much trouble, it made things difficult to look at the same way again. For every mustache twirling madman, there's a Wyatt or a Garnet or a Mana fighting, dieing.
It just really didn't feel like the right time, you know? Even he was having a hard time being his usual cheery self, and it brought upon weird moments like this where he questioned if he was really happy all the time or was so good at faking it that even he believed it. It was totally meta.
DRAMATIC POSING TIME!
Elias put a hand on his hip, his legs spread like he was bracing the ground and his staff raised high into the air. A positively dramatic wind whipped up on cue because even the universe was like 'damn Elias you so stylish' and caused his cape to flap in the air behind him like a snow white flag declaring the world as belonging to Elias! He threw his head back, letting out a maniacal laugh. "Hahahaha!" No, maniacaler. "Mwahahaha!" No! Manicalier! "BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!"
Yeah, that felt good.
Cracking his neck he grinned. Sometimes a man just needed to pose. He was feeling better now. It wasn't perfect, but when is anything (but Elias) perfect? He was sure Mana needed time to cool off, and that's his cue to annoy her. Elias was perfect for cooling down, you can get as mad as you want at him and you forget what you were mad at in the first place! He didn't know why she was mad in the first place, but that didn't matter. Elias didn't really care much or at all about the things they were fighting about, so he was a nice neutral person to complain to. You know, being a friend or something like that.
Of course, finding the swordswoman proved harder to do then say think. She must have really wanted to be left alone, because he couldn't see where she got off to at all. The good thing about Manas, though, is they are easy to spot. Brooding against a wall, looking like they were trying to move it with the sheer force of their mind. He eventually found her at some abandoned area, or as abandoned as you could get in a warzone. Which was surprisingly abandoned, so he didn't know why he added the classifier.
He walked up to her, his footsteps being muffled over the distant miscellaneous noises. He had a weird look about him, not quite a grin, but more than just a straight face. Like a strange mixture of amused, sympathetic, and maybe gassy. He saw several obviously kicked items about them, but she seemed quite motionless. Probably thinking.
"Hey Mana." He began. He didn't want to bring up whatever caused this, instead he kind of smiled. "Wanna do something stupid?"

Corona continued winging along, oblivious to the Ilian below chasing him, or the orange haired acrobat getting up onto the rooftops. He did hear a voice shouting his name though. His ears twitched back for a moment, looking to pinpoint where the sound had come from. So far, he knew it was somewhere behind him, and below him. Fufufuf.... But what wasn't below him?! He was the mighty Corona! ...But, he still liked to have his rider.
He only flew another couple of blocks of buildings before touching down on one of the larger rooftops and gently moving into a trotting wheel about. He wanted to get a better look at this two legs who was shouting his name.... He let him come into view, and spotted who it was.... Ah... It was the one that his Clair always followed. Protected. Supported.... Honestly, the pegasus had no idea what she saw in him. He wasn't as big as the pegasus, and his hair was black, blegh. At least it was right now. He didn't even have any wings. There was another one of the creatures up on the roofs a short distance away. Both were more familiar to the winged steed than the last person had been, but he wasn't really certain he could trust either of them to look out for him. Not like Clair did.
His hooves clopped loudly on the roof top, and as he whinnied at the two looking to chase him down.

Mana lazily turned to face Elias. The eccentric mage was the only one who didn't yell at her in that little fight. Well, he did yell but it was directed to everyone. Maybe it was a good thing that someone she knew finally showed up now, he could probably make her feel better. "What is it?" she asked, seeming rather distressed for some reason. The mage seemed to know that bringing the subject from before would only worsen the situation, which probably caused him not to touch that subject, she appreciated his good will. "I am not sure whether I am in mood for doing something...stupid. Sorry, Elias. I just...need to calm myself. I don't know why I feel very angry like this." She did look rather different than her usual cheerful self.
The Sacaen girl then walked toward the mage. She felt a little better after looking at his smile. Smile was frightening sometimes, it could easily bring peace and save people who were having trouble. Mana sighed. How could she look sullen in front of someone cute like Elias? "Geez...Now I remember why I like him. He always has some kind of positive aura around him." Now, Mana could smile again. She hadn't completely forgotten about that incident with Richter and Tuatara and how Wyatt somehow chose to reprimand her just for defending herself and him, though.
"Well...you know..." She shrugged and then punched Elias' shoulder. "If it was not only stupid but entertaining and challenging too, I might not be able to refuse," she said, smiling. Maybe he did this to cheer her, or maybe it was his nature to easily forget problems, it didn't matter. For now, what she needed was someone who wouldn't accuse her. "Crimson Mage's idea wouldn't end up being normal and boring, right?"

"Normal? Boring? Do not fret Mana, these are not words that dare to associate with me!" He jabbed a thumb at his chest, laughing aloud. Not too loud, but still boisterous as always. Don't want to draw the entire army on them after all. Still, he wasn't really sure what his plan was going into this. He talked a big game, but he couldn't actually think of much. He could teach Mana how to pose, that's a skill that will last her a lifetime, but somehow he doubted that what she had in mind. He needed to do something especially cuhrayzee to get her mind off of the whole 'yell yell yell' thing.
The wonderful thing about Eliases though, were how they always thought on their feet. One of the many things wonderful about them, but that went without saying. Entertaining, challenging, and stupid? She demands a king's ransom she does. He looked around for a moment, at the area around them and how it was so boring and desolate, everyone must have evacuated. They could do just about anything, and no one would ever know... Hey, that's not a bad idea actually. Mana would probably kick his butt at it, but don't count the Crimson Mage out just yet!
He began to fiddle with the staves strapped to his back, attached by some odd metal ringlets on the back of his robe, he took the two spares off his back to replace it with the fanciful one he had been carrying since he got it. He looked around, but couldn't see his darn horse anywhere. Which really isn't that surprising, he warped the thing in but as always it kind of... wandered off. "This place is pretty much abandoned." He began with a grin, just leaving the staves leaning against the wall. He couldn't be lugging all three of them around for this next part, but his special staff was simply too special to just leave laying around. He hadn't fiddled with his robe yet either, since he just got this one. Being a tailor was suffering.
He began to stretch as he continued. "Haven't you ever wondered what it was like, up there? A top of it all? Looking down at the world below you? I used to climb trees all the time when I was a kid. I fell asleep in a tree before, but... rolled out of it and broke my arm. Still gotta love them." He had a devious smile as he talked, he knew just the way to bring out that competitive spirit inside her. If she was anything like him, she couldn't resist.
He pointed straight up into the air. "I challenge you to a race Mana!" He pointed at the house next to them with suitable dramatic flair. "Anything goes, cutting through houses, hopping up to the roofs, there's no one here to get mad at us anyways." He didn't really say where they were racing to, but somehow that didn't register to the mage. "Let's just go until we're too tired to run anymore!" He stopped for a moment, all stretched out and proud of his self. "Don't worry about falling or anything either, I mean I fixed Wyatt and his crippled butt right up. I'm sure I can set a broken bone or two." Of course if Elias fell, Mana probably couldn't fix him, but failure simply didn't occur to him. "Let's just have fun."

Mana crossed her arms as she took a quick glance at her surrounding. This place was more quiet than the rest of the city. The girl didn't notice before because she was busy kicking, but now she became aware that she might actually have been lost. When the mage talked again, he asked her, Mana smiled as she remembered about her time with her clan. The plain didn't have much trees but she could climb as much as she wanted when her clan camped near a forest. "Well, I must agree with that..." she mumbled as she shrugged. "Except that I never broke my arms," she added.
There came the challenge. Mana didn't feel interested with the idea of running through houses, but a race was challenging enough. Maybe they wouldn't get scolded for racing through empty houses or jumping on the roofs. Still, her mood wasn't bright enough to give the reaction he might be expecting from her. Her reaction was fairly plain, couldn't be compared to his energetic gesture, but the Sacaen accepted the chalenge anyway. "Really, you sure about that? I am pretty confident with my speed and stamina you know."

Richter's face soured at Corona's perceived resistance, waving his arms one more time. For emphasis, he jumped up and down, just in case he hadn't gotten the pegasus's attention with the shouting. He really didn't feel like chasing the creature across the city, not today, but he knew the animal would probably not cooperate. It usually didn't, at least, not for anyone who wasn't Clair.
"Corona, get down here!" the commander shouted, taking a step closer to the building that Corona was currently perched atop. He jabbed his fingers into a random direction behind him that was supposed to represent the camp. "We need to go back with the others!"

Tuatara was running across the roof tops, trying to get to the one Corona was on. It was just like he was home again, except there wasn't shouting accompanied by torches and pitchforks.
"Corona, get down here!"
Ah, there's the shouting, Tuatara thought, chuckling to himself. He sniffed the air as he landed scrambled onto the roof Corona was on. He was extremely out of practice, and his body hurt to prove it. He could have gotten less bruises from fighting bandits.
"Omphmp," Tuatara said as he got to his feet. he cleared his throat. "Hey, Corona." He prepared his hands for signaling the beast. "We... need... you... to... come... Clair... danger..." He grinned. He had no idea what he was doing, but he assumed Corona could understand since Richter was yelling at him. Then he saw the rope. He looked at Corona. At the rope. At Corona. Back at the rope. He then remembered how they had met that other thief earlier. Nah, couldn't happen again.

The crimson mage, in his infinite maturity, pouted. "I must be losing my touch." That's what happens when it's been so long that he's talked to another person that wasn't a horse. He's lost his interesting, his pizazz, his... his flair! "I could've swore that Mana doesn't think this is the best idea ever." He rubbed his freakishly hairless chin, pondering some sort of plan in that mind of his. "Maybe Mana is just... afraid? Yes, it's a completely ordinary reaction after being challenged by the master of many, Elias." His smirk was devilish, and the small chuckle he had belonged to an imp and not a man.
"I have no fear, it would not be a challenge if you weren't talented! I myself am quite nimble, I must be if I don't want to be axe fodder." He wiggled all of his fingers in the air, as if to somehow prove something. "And my stamina? Ha, my stamina puts other mages to shame! They don't call me the 'wheezing' mage or the 'hold up let me catch my breath' mage, no I am the Crimson Mage." His bravado was enough to send Athos spinning in his grave in his shack somewhere doing nothing important.
He stopped for a moment, looking over his opponent. She didn't seem exactly 'thrilled' but since when has that ever made him change his mind? She wouldn't have agreed if she didn't want to do it.

Corona continued to watch both, raising his wings half way as the orange headed one managed to flounce onto his roof. He had half a mind to jump to the next roof, but he was getting tired of running.
He whipped his head up and down while snorting loudly and pawing at the flat stone he was standing on as he turned his head to the side and locked one eye onto the Twolegs up with him. The last time one of them had been up here with him, it had been kinda fun to try and run him over.... He probably shouldn't squish this one though. It wasn't a stranger for one. And the great pegasus thought it could smell something familiar....
Corona took a step towards the orange haired two-legs ignoring the shouting one below. Then it took another step. Before long, the winged horse was clip- clopping along the roof towards the small creature, and now he was certain he could smell something. Something sweet, like an apple. And it was coming from the bag that the Tut was holding.
Corona didn't stop gracefully, and would smash right into Tuatara, without a concern. With a bit of dexterous horse play though, the white steed didn't need the thief's help. Taking the bag's flap in his lips, Corona flipped it up and open, before shoving his muzzle inside and munching on something....
Mmmm.... Sweet rolls....

Mana felt a little bit guilty when Elias mentioned how uninterested she was. He was nice enough to come to her, probably trying to cheer her. But the Sacaen girl didn't know how she should make a reaction that pleased him, this was just...not a good time. However, her guilt crumbled soon as he boasted and taunted her. Her eyes narrowed and she put a scary smile as she stared at the Crimson Mage, his challenge worked marvelously.
Her previous reaction couldn't be compared with her currrent expression, the girl's spirit was burning. With a little mix of annoyance and competitive spirit, she felt ready to race anytime. "Ah, so you are not just another mage..." By another mage she meant mages who generally had weak physique. Well, that was a fair fact, many of them indeed put more effort to developing their mind and magic talent rather than working to build up their physical ability. "Maybe I should have realized...Crimson Mage...you are not to be taken lightly." She have him a praise and acknowledgement, but also showering him with deadly glare at the same time.
"So just run, huh?" she said as she looked around. There was no finish line in this race so she wouldn't bother about the route. The idea was they ran together in a basically same direction without concerning about where they headed toward. Not bad, maybe. "Then lets begin with a little warm up." Mana turned her gaze at a house at her left, fairly sort in comparison with another buildings around it. The girl jogged toward a barrel in the side of the house. She jumped, and then used the barrel as a foothold to make a higher vertical jump. Her hands grabbed the edge the edge of the roof and she then made a swift somersault, kicking the wall to help her launch herself over the roof. This kind of acrobatic move was pretty easy for her, mostly because she was pretty light and had enough physical ability to perform such moves.
"Come on!" she shouted. Well, after giving it some thought, the idea actually sounded very entertaining. Maybe it was a good idea, after all.

Richter jumped back as the giant pegasus came barreling towards Tutara. Reflexes sharp, he grabbed the younger man's sleeve and wrenched him aside, hoping to deliver him from becoming a hoofed shaped pancake.
"Crazy beast!" Richter mentally exclaimed to himself, his eyes widened at the pegasus's behavior. "I get that he's an excellent war-steed, but..." The commander let his guard down when he saw Corona go for Tut's sweet rolls. Ah, food. That made a bit more sense.
It was then that Richter started eyeing the lance attached to Corona's saddle. After all, that was more than half of the reason the Ilian had decided to personally track down the winged steed. His first reaction was to take it off, but he remembered Clair's advice, about the safeguards, and decided against it. Last thing he needed was to get his arms blown off by some rogue magical spell.
"Come on," said Richter, a bit of annoyance in his voice. "We need to get you back to Clair." Hopefully Corona wouldn't resist.
