Tuatara had eyed Corona back, raising his eyebrows back and forth. At least until the great steed had started waltzing toward him. He then looked at the rope again. What would I do after I grabbed the rope...? he thought, several painful endings coming to mind. But it was too late.Corona was upon him and not stopping, not to mention eating something out of his bag.
"Oh, that's where those went-" Tuatara said as he was suddenly pulled to the side by his shirt. He stumbled a little and then looked to see who was kidnapping him. Oh, it's just Richter, he thought. He looked back at Corona and caught sight of the saddle. A grin played at his lips as he looked back at Richter. He looked at the saddle ad back again, and once more to make sure Richter got the memo.
Tuatara gently slid the strap to the bag over his head and tossed it to Richter. He then gently reached for the reins, careful not to disturb Corona.

"A-Wai- Aw geez." In an instant she was gone, doing cool ninja flips and judo jumps and awesome cool stuff and he could only think that this will be even more difficult than he thought. Of course, even if he was outmatched and destined to lose, Elias was by no means discouraged. If any the challenge light a brighter flame in his heart, the more difficult the situation was the more the crimson mage burned! He clenched his fist with a wide grin, he couldn't do the sort of thing that Mana did, but that didn't mean he was without a chance. He was swift on his feet, but lacked the dexterity that she possessed, he couldn't do cool ninja flips and junk BUT he could run pretty quick and he was pretty crafty in his own way.
He jumped, not nearly and well as Mana, but was able to haul his self onto the barrel that she used as well, though it took a bit longer. Instead of somehow flipping up to the roof in some show of great skill, he instead leapt to a window that was near and open, his fingers grabbing the ledge, but he hefted his self through it quickly enough. He didn't know whose house this was, but whoever it belonged to was not home. Probably evacuated, which was good because their decorating sense was tacky as heck. If he was not in the middle of a race, he'd redecorate. Instead he took off, ignoring the pinkish room with blurry ill defined characteristics that he made a conscious effort to not pay attention to. He didn't have time to mentally go over what was going on in here, and instead rushed up the stairs to the second floor.
He ducked into the nearby room and looked out the window, there was another house nearby with another open window, and there lied his path forward. He backed up a few steps and leapt between the two home, his hand clasping on the edge before falling into the alleyway below. With a grunt of effort, he hoisted his self into the home and began to dash once more. Across the home and up the stairs once more, this home standing a story taller than the last. He hurried over again and opened the window in a burst, leaping once more onto the roof of the home he was just in. His fingers clawing at the scaled tiles and he grunted in exertion and pulled his self up from the side. Naturally, Mana probably cleared four times as much ground as he did in the time it took to get on the roof, but this roof was higher than the roof she leapt up. So he'd have an easier time leaping from roof to roof then she would.
His gaze caught Mana, ahead of him naturally, but he simply laughed. The wind felt great, and if he wasn't in such a rush he'd probably say the view was grand. His eyes caught a nearby roof, that wasn't too far of a leap so he took running, a sprawling leap for roof to roof, landing squarely on the second home before running once more. Sweat pouring down his face, but the thrill and excitement filling his body with vigor where exhaustion was supposed to set in. People have always said he was unnaturally energetic.

A bit of movement along his side caught the giant pegasus' attention, as he spotted the little two-legs reaching upward, towards Clair's spot. The nearer to the reigns the orange haired thief's hands came, the more Corona's ears layed slowly back on his head, malice becoming apparent in his eyes. As long as that was all it was -and there was the bag with sweetrolls- there would be no trouble.... He could keep snacking, and they could stay near him.... Orange-Hair was beginning to annoy with his invasive behavior though....
He rumbled softly in his throat as he continued watching from his eyes. Those poor pathetic two legs.... They had such narrow vision with how their eyes were located on the front of their heads. He didn't know how they'd survived and thrived as well as they had, because they seemed to be everywhere. At least he'd managed to teach Clair how to pay attention to his senses. These had little sense available to them, from his perspective.

After Elias started jumping through the windows, Mana moved to the next roof. The girl then searched for the mage. It shouldn't be difficult though, she just needed to spot anything with red color. And there he was, finally getting into the roof. His bursting out of the window made it look somewhat cooler than her stunt. Well, it might be more fun than she had thought. The scenery from up here was pretty nice too, it might help light her mood a little. And the race, a competition between them, was a bit unusual too, which actually made it more exciting.
"I can do better than that. Just watch it!" Mana didn't want to lose to her friend. She leaped to next roof, and then the next one, and then another one. She felt the wind in her face as she ran faster. The Sacaen girl seemed to enjoy this, she was smiling. Her feet didn't stop moving as she landed on another roof. The anger she had before was soothed by this refreshing sensation. Actually, it also brought up some memories from the past. This race was just like the one she played with her friends in Sacae, without finish line of course. Still, it felt a little nostalgic. "Hey, Elias. Thank you! I am going to repay this someday!" she shouted. She actually wanted to say more but suddenly decided not to as she felt a little embarrassed. Elias came when she needed something to turn her attention from the fight with Richter and Tuatara. What a good fried he was. He didn't change much after they parted ways. He was still the same man that gave her a reason to like him. "I wonder why....I never felt bored around him," she thought, chuckling.
Some people probably saw them running on the roofs not caring that they were playing around in a this dangerous place, a city that turned into a battlefield. They might try to warn them or they might not, she didn't care. The thrill was too great for her to listen to their voices anyway. Well, they were still in Ilia's controlled territory, anyway. It didn't seem they would get into some trouble anytime soon.
"Hahahaha! It feels so nice. It has been a while since I had fun in a race," she laughed while running. The next roof was little higher but she still managed to reach it by adding more strength when she jumped. Elias was able to keep up with her so far, which made the race even more exciting. "You are not too bad, Mr. Crimson Mage. But I warn you! You haven't seen the best of me yet."

"Hah! If that had been your best I would have been sorely disappointed!" Elias called back with a wild grin and an even wilder laugh. His shaggy red hair streaming straight back in the wind as he ran as fast as his feet would carry. Taking leaps of faith from rooftop to rooftop. "You can repay me by giving me all you got!" Elias lacked the sheer speed and dexterity Mana seemed to have in spades, but somehow his determined spirit and sheer pluck let him keep up. He never hesitated, even when it came time to do something stupid, like leaping somewhere where it seemed impossible to make. Every move was carefully calculated yet at the same time completely random, a beautiful contradiction that seemed to perfectly encompass his entire life. "You're truly a worthy rival!"
From down below, people craned their heads to the commotion up above. Only to see a blur of red or green that was gone in as fast as it came. They looked so small from up here, but it didn't scare the Crimson Mage. It gave him more thrill, he's always liked heights. In a past life he must have been a dragon, it would handily explain all of his awesome. The world above the town, a world of shingled paths and brick and mortar chimneys. In the distance the city's wall could be clearly seen, but beyond that there was so much more. It was a world that right now, only Elias and Mana occupied. At least, as far as he was aware. Perhaps there was another pair of folks jumping from roof to roof, but for now they were alone in a world that many could go their entire lives without seeing.
He made a wild leap that he had no business even attempting, but somehow his wild spirit seemed to give him the boost he needed to clasp his arms over the edge. His brow speckled with sweat and his body tired and aching, but his spirit burning so brightly that it simply ignored and surpassed the mere physical limitations of his body. He was totally awesome, climbing around like he was some kind of monkey. Or spider. Or spider monkey. The city was so much smaller from up here, but at the same time it was undoubtedly massive. With effort and more than a little crimson tenacity, he boosted his self unto the roof with a heave-ho. Even though his body was begging for him to take a rest, there was simply no way he'd listen to it. He might be a mage, but his father had always taught him that one cannot have a strong mind without a strong body as well.

Richter caught the bag Tuatara tossed him, glancing into it for a moment before getting the idea.
"Come on, Corona," he said, doing his best to make his voice sound more enticing, though he doubted he was doing a good job of it. "If you want more food, you're going to have to follow me back to Clair, got it?" A fake smile on his face, Richter shook the bag a little, then took a step in the other direction to see if the pegasus was getting the idea. Hopefully he'd follow. Catering to this stupid flying horse was obnoxious enough as is.
The pink haired commander gave Tuatara a wary look, seeing how quickly the pegasus's temperament was changing. Waving his hand a bit, he motioned for the orange-haired youth to step to the side. Last thing either of them needed was a hoof to the face or gut.
"Alright, I think it's time to go," Richter muttered, before turning to leave.

Tuatara froze when Corona began to make noises. He backed away slowly looking a Richter. This is gonna be a lot harder than stealing a wyvern, he thought. Well if we did this... or maybe if we... Or... He looked at Richter again.
"Well that works too," Tuatara mumbled as he moved after Richter. He had apparently come up with a plan himself, a boring one but one that worked. "Let's go Corona!"

Corona was just really getting to think the bag was pretty alright when it suddenly dropped away. The pegasus stood and munched for a moment, finishing whatever it was he'd managed to find last. The bag was not coming back yet though.... Instead, the Rixhter Beast was holding it. I wasn't done with that!.... I can't eat that when it's over there! The pegasus was stumped. First they fed him, then they took it away. Who were these guys?! He couldn't decide whether they meant well or not. The one holding the bag took a step away, and Corona watched for a moment.... Maybe if he copied the twolegs actions... they'd feed him more? It was worth a shot.
Corona took a single step towards the food bag, and stopped to observe. They did not appear to be planning on eating him, but the food wasn't forthcoming again. Maybe another step?
Corona quickly walked towards the one with the odd bag, his hooves clopping loudly on the stone surface. He said something about Clair, but Corona wasn't sure what that was about. Yes, Twolegs.... Clair is my rider. Now gimme those sweet rolls!

--Time Skip--
The trip back to camp had been uneventful enough. Corona had been quick to follow the bag of sweet rolls, and Richter had taken care to space them out so that there were enough to last the trip as there was no telling what the giant pegasus would do if they ran out. The commander could see tents up ahead, and he had two rolls left, with Corona still chewing on a third, so he figured he been successful in his efforts.
The walk had been quiet, too. Richter, quite characteristically, hadn't had much to say. He'd noticed by now that it really did seem that he only wanted to talk when he was emotional: angry, distraught, disgusted. Otherwise, it didn't seem worth the effort. Perhaps that's a side effect of bottling yourself up like he was so used to doing. Completely the opposite of Tut here, he thought to himself. He hadn't been paying much attention to Tut if the orange haired thief had been saying anything, but by now had begun to give the younger man a little more focus.
It was odd. After these hard years, he would have never thought that of all the people standing beside him during these hard times, one would be Tuatara. There had been others, others that Richter had expected to stay with him, but pretty much all of them had come and gone. But not Tut. He and Clair had been with him since their "adventures" in Sacae, and while Richter obviously had come to learn more about Clair, he hadn't bothered himself with the orange haired youth. The Ilian had always thought him a fool with less marbles than an empty bag, and while Tuatara usually fulfilled expectations, he sometimes managed to let a little bit of someone greater shine through. Color Richter officially interested.
"So, er...Tut," the commander began, referring to the thief by his nickname for what was probably the first time. "How'd you get wrapped up in all of this?" Richter held an arm out against their surroundings for emphasis. "Before Salvation Point. How'd you end up walking next to one of the most notorious men in Elibe?"

He was done. He simply could not move any more. He wasn't even sure how he managed to get to this last roof, but somehow there he was. Laying on his back and staying at the sky high above. Clouds lazily sailing across the great sea of the sky, it seemed to sap what little strength he had left. His face was doused in sweat, his seemingly endless energy suddenly crashing and leaving him gasping for breath, greedily taking as much air as his lungs could strain to hold. "I... You..." His breathless words came out as stammered fragment of thought, his chest heaving as he tried to spit out sounds but was constantly interrupted by his own frenzied desire for oxygen. "I... admit... defeat..."
In this endless race to nowhere, there was a clear winner. A woman of unparalleled dexterity that simply trounced the poor mage. Trounced his so hard that he might as well have a footprint on his face. Still that was nothing to despair over, in fact just the opposite. Elias found a strange sort of... accomplishment in his failure. He was happy in his defeat. He had a simple smile as he gazed up above. The calm breeze carried a sweet smell upon it as he took it in with a heavy breath. "Mana!" He shouted as loudly as his voice could carry. "I admit defeat!" He didn't know where she was, for unlike him she hadn't collapsed.
"I think... I'm going to just lay here for a while. I like the breeze." He had no idea if she could hear him, but he liked to think she could.

The trip had been quiet. Too quiet for Tuatara's taste, but that was busy enjoying the sandwich he had made from things he had found in his other bag. The one he hadn't known existed until the other one had decided to run off to Richter land. I wonder what would happen if- he stopped thinking the moment Richter asked the question. He began coughing as he inhaled his sandwich and quickly pulled a water skin from somewhere.
Someone asking me about my past?! Tuatara thought. And Richter calling me Tut?! Never been done before, nope, the world may explode... Well there goes that theory. They were still here, and he was still reeling. No one ever really asked him anything, let alone about his past, and he had liked it that way. Though at the same time he felt a little hurt that no one ever asked. Where to begin? he thought.
"Dragons," Tuatara said, finally able to breathe. "I met Aeros after waking up in a strange city. Something about chickens and adventurers and a bandit king or something. I'm not real sure." He scratched his head. "Before that I lived with my family of merchants in Bulgar. Had a little brother that followed me around and thought I was cool. And then I stole a certain bag from a dragon and he sicked his Ilian mercenary on me. After that I got chased out of town for stealing something or other." He gazed fondly into the distance.
"So ya that stuff happened," Tuatara said, going back to his sandwich. He felt exposed and less mysterious talking about himself. His eyes brightened suddenly. "Which reminds me, do you know where Aeros is? I sorta lost him."

Mana heard him yelling. Stopping her run so suddenly almost made her fall but the girl somehow managed to keep her balance on the roof. Her breath ran faster compared from when they had just begun the race. "Did you say something?!" she yelled back as she turned around. She then saw a red figure lying a little far from her place, Elias probably felt too tired to continue the match. He had done very well to catch up with her, who more trained in something like this, and the mage had actually been quite a tough challenger for the Sacaen girl. "Actually, I still want to continue..." she grumbled. However, there was no look of disappointment in her expression. Instead, she was smiling and laughing from her heart. The maiden had finally returned to her normal self.
"Don't move. I am coming for you!" He was a few roofs away from her but she didn't mind to go back to get him. Her hair fluttered and the wind stroked her face as she made a jump toward the next roof. This was one of the best sensations she had ever experienced. Maybe it was the reason why she couldn't feel tired despite having run so much, it was just too pleasant.
"I WIN!!!" she shouted cheerfully as she jumped onto him, practically squashed the exhausted mage. There was no bad intention in her action, she just wanted to give him a friendly hug as her way to say "thank you", but it probably gave him some damage. "This is 1-0 for me! I will be waiting for our next race. Should probably invite Wyatt, too." Seeming oblivious to the damage she might have caused, Mana rolled to his side and lay on the roof. The sky was clear, beautifully painted with blue color that would be replaced with red soon. "Heh...You know...We never really played like this before when we traveled together. At that time, there was also Garnet, Nathaniel, and the others with us. I still remember our first meeting..." Mana started to reminiscence their previous journey. "It sure brings a lot of memories, don't you think so?" she asked, smiling.

"No worries there." Elias weakly held an arm up but let it flop back down with aplomb. He just took in the air and the sky as we waited for the super flippy ninja of a girl. He was completely calm, you know, for a moment. Then Mana tackled him so hard he was afraid they'd smash through the roof and into the poor house he was using for a bed. He winced him pain as she enthusiastically (and thoroughly) crushed his entire body in a full contact body hug not unlike bears give. Still he didn't say anything, and only smiled. Pain really didn't phase Elias all that much, he's been on fire more time than he could count. Good thing for that handy magical resistance he's built up over the years, overwise his body would be at least mostly burns.
"Yes, you win." He repeated her words, with his own kind of tired enthusiasm. After she let him go and allowed him to breath once more, he pushed his self up. Sitting in some sloppy hunched over way that simply said 'I don't really care about how cool I look right now' which was a rare moment for Elias. Even rarer than his moments of lucidity, Mana should be proud because he totally looks like a weirdo right now. Still he ever made a small effort for his flair and interesting movements. "But! Don't rest on your laurels, I'm going to only get better!" He let out a loud guffaw of self confidence. Holding a finger up as if to silence all the silence. "I will practice my jumping on roof skills and get even more incredible, so for that I thank you. You've given me a good goal to shoot for Mana. For now, however, I must concede the title of 'Crimson Acrobat' to you. It is rare to bequeath such a gift, so I hope you take good care of it." He pointed right at her at the words "crimson" to drive the point home. "Maybe when Wyatt isn't hobbling about we could all run around like this, I like it."
He decided to flop back on his back again, Mana seemed to have the right idea. The once blue sky was bleeding small bits of red, it wasn't that far from dusk. The sun would be setting soon, it would be a shame to miss a perfect opportunity to watch it set. He was always moving so fast and so much that it was rare for him to actually watch it set. Mana was the one to break the silence, and what she said made Elias break out in a groan. "Ugh, don't mention that ruin. I was so out of character back then. I'd like to blame everyone who isn't me, and you naturally, for that. It was just no fun, the mission. Still it wasn't entirely awful. I met you Mana, and Fluori- Garnet too. I don't remember Nate, or that other girl all that much. I remember that one guy with the book though, he was annoying. Thought he had all the answers simply because he had all the answers."
He took in a heavy breath and let it out slowly. "That place messed with my head, and after it was over I was just a mess. Garnet was with me for a while, but eventually he just left me all alone in Sacae. Right after I spilled my guts to him too. Though I lied about everything to make him feel bad for me, that wasn't the point. I was probably just really annoying or something." He laid there in silence for a moment before remembering something. "It was after that I met Wyatt though, in Ostia. You know about the crap in went through right? With the lava and junk? We were there when it happened. Though we both escaped, we were separated. That's probably when he met you. I went back to those ruins though, and kicked their butt!" He laughed with a fire in his eyes. Clenching his fist in triumph. "Then I came here and found you and Wyatt again." He wasn't sure when this became a 'what have you been up to' sort of thing, but he wasn't the type to care about what other people were expecting to hear.
"What about you? What have you been up to?" He asked, but then looked at the horizon with a frazzled brow. It's indisputable truth was that it's going to be late soon. The thought of Wyatt shuffling around town on his crutches both made him chuckle, and feel awful. "Actually... Maybe we should get back. Wyatt is probably back by now. I need to go fetch my staves though, so maybe you should go ahead. You can tell me all about it when I get back." There would be other days where he could watch the sunset, maybe with Wyatt and Mana. He'd teleport Wyatt onto a roof if he had to.

Post by Kenshin on Jun 29, 2013 14:15:46 GMT -6
Kenshin couldn't blame Saint for taking him in, he was already a disliked individual in Bern and attacking the man he learned was actually named Richter was a good reason to label him as a 'rebel'. He spent his time walking around town during the lock down, it was far more entertaining than sitting around in his room waiting for his chance to return home. He already retrieved the bow from Yaen so now it was time for 'sight seeing', something caught his eye, movments on the rooftops. Was it more rebels? He was still in no condition to fight but if there was those who wished to disrupt the peace he would do his best to bring peace to the innocent town. Then he noticed one of the two running, it was Mana, was she in trouble?
Kenshin raced to the rooftops and caught up with the after they stopped, there wasn't any conflict so it was quite possible they were friends, he hadn't seen the girl since he helped take Wyatt to a healer. He felt a heavy burden. Mana, among many others, saw Kenshin as this great hero, he knew he wasn't but he felt obligated to give her the truth, he didn't care if his people knew or not, they needed a 'hero' to inspire them to protect their loved ones unlike he was able to. Mana was different, she carried on the legacy of the Falcatta, she deserved to know the truth. "Mana... I'm glad to see you're okay." Shooting the man with her a glance he figured now wouldn't be the best time. "If you have a chance later tonight could you stop by my room at the Bearded Dragon? I have something to talk to you about, I'm in room 11."

"Aeros?" asked Richter, raising an eyebrow at Tuatara before shrugging casually. "Not a clue. Haven't seen him since Edessa." The commander looked up to the sky, pausing for a moment, before looking back down at his companion. "I don't think he's still traveling with us, either. There was only one dragon at the arena."
The Ilian continued walking, the tent peaks of the approaching camp of soldiers drawing closer with each step. He glanced back at Corona, who was almost done with his current roll, so he reached into the bag in his left hand and pulled out the first of the last two pastries. He held the roll in front of the pegasus's snout, cautiously offering the food so as to keep his fingers away from his teeth.
"Anyways, your younger brother, tell me about him," continued Richter, rewinding the conversation a bit. The mention of a sibling left behind stuck out the most to Richter. "When's the last time you saw him?"
