You missed Sonic the Hedgehog. Ah well, I doubt he'd get many votes due to recent games losing a bit of their flair. :/ I actually have a hard time picking out a favorite, but I guess I can't go wrong with Zelda. ^^ Each game has been a blast.

I actually fully enjoyed every FE game I've ever played. Can't say the same for most of the others up there...

In reality, Metroid beats them all when it comes down to gameplay, with "Tales of" being a VERY close second. But Metroid just has that...little something that makes the game feel nice to play.
And I wouldn't list GTA up there. It didn't have much of a fanbase prior to GTA 3. But the same could be said about Tales of and the release of Tales of Symphonia. I've yet to play it, but from the looks of it, it would fall VERY low on my list. Phantasia and Eternia just are much more better, with Narikiri Dungeon 3 and 2(in that order) coming right below them.
However, Super Metroid is by FAR the best game for the SNES. And I do mean by FAR. A Link to the Past goes second, and the third is Tales of Phantasia.

BLASPHEMY!!!!
Final Fantasy III/VI is one of the best games in existence! And you forgot about Chrono Trigger, a truly awesome game which should be remembered fondly for all time. or Earthbound, the world's most underappreciated game... Or Super Mario RPG, a truly unique game that will always hold a place in our hearts. How about Secret of Mana? That game was truly amazing, and beat the living s&^t outta zelda.
seriously, Link to the past was not that good, neither was Super Metriod...
And the Tales series was good before symphonia, people just didn't realize it yet.

I do like all those games you mentioned. A LOT. But A Link to the Past was just HUGE for a Zelda game, and still IS(Ocarina of Time is even bigger, but A Link of the Past is way harder). I played Seiken Densetsu 2 and 3 even before translations were released, and I loved them, but having played Legend of Mana, I don't think so highly of those two anymore. That doesn't mean they aren't good either.
Chrono Trigger is quite overrated, IMO, just like Final Fantasy VII. The game was good, the story had well done time traveling, and an endless ammount of endings. But, just like most RPGs, it felt quite repetitive. It was like, "OH! I just now want to save the world because I see a huge ass monster will come 999 years from now and destroy everything!". Super Mario RPG just lacked a good story, but it still has the best story a Mario game has had thus far.
Earthbound...I LOVE that game. So whacky, so childish-looking, yet so AWESOME. If only the battles hadn't been so repetitive, and if only they had a good battle music, aside some bosses and the New Age Retro Hippie(Oh god...hilarious!)...
And Tales of Phantasia probably had the best story out of the entire SNES RPGs. Back then, that story was "new", to say the least. Now the "burning village, killed parents and angered son" is overused*coughFablecough*. However, the game has the BEST plot twist at the VERY end. Just like how Golden Sun makes you feel bad once you play The Lost Age. I am not going to spoil anything, though.

yeah, I got the GBA version this summer. I don't play GBA games (besides FE) except on family vacations. I've got one coming up, and I"m looking forward to beating Tales of Phantasia. I just got to the future, and am in the cave where you first meet the ninja girl (I think it's a lightning cave or something).
Chrono Trigger is one of the few RPGs that lives up to its hype. The characters were unique, engaging, and nearly all of them had valid reasons for traveling in your party (maybe not Ayla... but she's not exactly a brain surgeon...). If you knew the world was going to end, nad you were the only one capable of stopping it, wouldn't you do everything in your power to do so? It makes sense, and makes you admire the three (Crono, Marle, and Lucca) even more. They're saving the world because it's the right thing to do. Not because they want revenge or booty.
The Earthbound battles do seem repetative after awhile. That's why it's so nice that they let you insta-kill some. I wish all games did that, I hate wasting time fighting little dinky enemies...
LttP is a huge Zelda game, and it is really awesome. Stil think Secret of Mana beat it, hands down. Multiple characters, multi-player option (back then I still had friends who wanted to play with me). Legend wasn't so great... what with the overly open story line and all (I say this, yet I love Romancing Saga, which is one of the most open RPGs ever...)

Also SMRPG will go under Mario. We only got one Mother game in the US. I've yet to play any of the other Mother games out becuase it's not out in the US or any plans for it. LttP is the best Zelda game out right now IMO, well that will change this Sunday.

Ok go to the store and get Wind waker, Four Swords(not that great but fun with friends) for the gamecube. Link to the Past(port of the SNES verson) or Minish cap for the GBA. Metriod is ok, I only played Hunters for the DS. Also Tales of games rock so hard. ToS for the cube is only 20 bucks so it's a good game for cheap. Then the gba has ToP, I'm not sure off all of the ps Tales of games. Dray'Gon, if Sonic or Megaman was on the list, would your vote be different?

Too bad we can't edit poll options.
But we can do a second poll of this type by new year. There'll be a couple new games for some of the series then.
The only problem I find with multiplayer games, is the lack of friends that play them at a DECENT level. The best gamer I know besides me in the city is so bad at games that I put him to shame without much effort. Last week I beat him by 20 points in SSB(N64), and when we played Dynasty Warriors 4 Hyper(PC), I had killed 4 officers by the time he found his first one.
When it comes to Chrono Trigger, I feel that the story just "jumped" too fast. You barely get to know Lavos when you first get introduced to the End of Time, and as soon as that happens you can even end the game there. Otherwise, you just plain go and kick Magus' ass for summoning Lavos in the first place. But since he didn't do it, you get sent to the past to try and stop it from falling as a meteor. Afterwards, you go to Zeal, and find Magus, who is now willing, not only to join the party, but also Frog forgives him for transforming him into what he is. Why so sudden? And Ayla being a no brainer...well, she actually wants to get revenge for Azala's(was it Azala? The reptite queen) death, as much as she hated her.
Sometimes, fighting old enemies is useful. Sometimes. Just not in Earthbound.
Legend of Mana's open story was exactly what made it good. Being able to choose what you want to happen and when you want it to happen. It didn't feel as linear as most RPGs out there.
Also, if you liked Tales of... games, then try out Summon Night(GBA and PS2. Only two of the GBA games are translated. The PS2 ones aren't). Same battle system, two characters to pick from, even though you only use one, and five summon beasts to help you(which change the dialogue GREATLY. Also, they are four in the second SN game for GBA).
