Pent and Erk are the better mages, as they won't mess things up, and you won't have to babysit them... I just hold a grudge against Athos, as in many of my games, he's the only one who can do anything to the dragon. What's the point of training all those characters for the entire game, if you're just going to get a guy at the end who can kill everyone for you?
Should we move on the the next class?

Just like Athos. Athos kicks MAJOR ass. But he's only usable for a few chapters, which really limit his overall usefulness. A few? You mean one. And he's the best magic user for the LA (S in all magic and best caps).

let's see.... Is anyone going to argue Wallace is better than Oswin? Or that Vaida is better than Heath? (just throwing that one out now)
Of course, now that I think about it, thieves are next.
I love Matthew. His supports are awesome, and he's a good thief. However, he's a bad assassin. Legault's the best choice. He can be trained properly, and has a chance of really beating Jaffar (many more levels equal many more chances for RN to have fun).

Matt has crit support for best assassin. <_< Legault is best thief. Jaffar is just cool.
Wallace is bald.
Viada is ugly.

And those are great reasons not to use them...
So which thief/assassin is the best?

Jaffar has at least 14 levels on both of them when he is recruited and the Fell Contract still has to be stolen from Sonia at the end of the chapter.

Jaffar has at least 14 levels on both of them when he is recruited and the Fell Contract still has to be stolen from Sonia at the end of the chapter. That is if you want ~10 exp for stealing it. The fell contract is glowing green, she drops it when she dies. Ugly and bald people make the best units.

Well stealing it is the easist way (and if Matthew and Legault to steal it then they aren't worth it) and it will leave yyou a boss on which can train to close the gap a little.

It's not that hard to train a unit that instantly kills enemies... Just give them a killing edge and laugh manically at your enemies.

Much easier is starting out with one at lvl. 14.

True... Though Jaffar's support options suck. You've got Nino, Matt, and Legault (not entirely sure on that last one). So, you're either doubling up on thieves, or babysitting...
But you get more opportunity to train the other two. With a kind RNG, they would leave Jaffar in the dust. If you're going for a higher funds though, you don't have much choice.
I'd say Matt's the best. You can train him from early on. He gets great support bonuses, has the skillz necassary to be a good assassin. Honestly, I just like him better than Legault... it is close though. They both are still better units than Jaffar....

About the training, you get more oppurtinie to train Jaffar actually. They are at lvl. 20 unpromoted tops while he is ??/14 and they still have to go through the whole chapter. And supports aren't everything.
