Valorian was going to respond to Calvin when the boy became a flurry of activity. He was going to play? Here?
Valorian said nothing and watched as the boy pulled out a flute and began to produce a most melodious sound. Active and energetic, it seemed very fitting for the young blond. A happy and gentle tune, as if untouched by the rough and horrible reality. So fitting for him.
He wasn't the only one who found themselves lost in the work as he continued playing, and before long the boy had gained quite a sizable crowd! Valorian thought to himself as the piece came to a close, and pulled a coin from his own pocket.
"So, do you take requests then music man?" He asked with a half smile.

Chelsea gave a little giggle through her watery smiled. "Who said I was taking your last name?" She giggled more at that an hugged Kelvin tight again, admiring the ring over his shoulder. When did he buy this? How did he afford it? Oh well, it really didn't matter. She was getting married! To Kelvin! It was all so exciting! Karina would have to be her maid of honor! And, since he was alive, her father could give her away! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

A sizable crowd formed around Calvin as he skillfully played his instruments. The song came to a strong ending finished with a powerful beat. The crowd clapped gently and tossed some coin onto the rug. Calvin smiled.
“Thank you friends!”
Calvin’s attention then turned to Valorian. He looked at Val with a confused expression. He had never taken any requests before, the songs he knew were all his own work, and some taught to him by his parents. He could at least listen to the request, maybe he had heard it before?
“What did you have in mind?”

Valorian chuckled at how Calvin beamed. He loved being the center of attention, that much was for certain. "It's been a long time since I've heard it. I'm pretty sure it was called 'Home Sweet Home', or something like that." Valorian said, humming the basic refrain of the song. "I thought I saw a lute in your bag, it's mostly a lute song if my memory serves. Can you play that?"
It really had been a while since he'd heard the song. Well before he left home, and got involved in any of these troubles. A simpler time, a better time.
"It's not too much to go on, I know, but I thought maybe you might know of it."

Home Sweet Home? Calvin had never heard the name before, but at the same time his songs didn’t even have names. He would probably get around to doing that sometime. Valorian hummed the basic refrain, and Calvin listened in an attempt to memorize it, aswell as recognize it. He had heard only a few songs that were not his or his families, and they were taught to him by travelling nomads. Calvin didn’t know the songs, but maybe he could play a little something extra. His head turned to his lute and he nodded before swapping instruments.
“I’ll give it a go, why don’t you sing if you can remember the lyrics?”
His fingers gently strummed and plucked away at the fine strings on his lute. He blissfully played back the part Valorian had hummed, but after that he just began to improvise it, quickly making his own simple version on the spot. It sounded nice, kept in the same tempo and pitch, but the only thing similar between the original version and Calvin’s, was the refrain.
“I’m sorry, I’ve never heard it, but I sure hope my piece was satisfying.”

"Unfortunately I don't have a cure, most of these are relatively common suppressants as well, so I guess but the quantity will bring it up to 500 gold," the shopkeeper replied, checking the herbs and than looking over at Jya. The woman let out a sigh.
"I can do 250 but you can't tell anyone about this, especially with this amount," she said, still holding twenty or so vials of different sizes. Jya began scrimmaging through her pockets and took out a few pieced of jewelry.
"I don't have money but I got other ways to pay," she replied, sounding as honest as usual. Since the incident with the child took her money, she resorted to her backup money supply which included an assortment of jewelry...that she stole. The stolen part didn't need to be mentioned though.

As Jya took out her mon--- Er, jewelry, Isabel sprung into action, blocking the assassin from handing them over. "Sorry, my friend here seems to forget our previously agreed upon arrangement... Here's the full five hundred for your trouble." The shaman reached into her bag, producing another bag (this one holding just her money, specifically), and quickly counted out the proper amount. She shot a glance at Jya, daring her green-garbed friend to stop her, and then handed over the gold coins. Solomon padded over from where he had been standing, and, with one almost-impossible jump, leapt into Isabel's bag, staring out of it at Jya with his big green eyes, imitating the shaman's glare mixed with his own curiosity at the assassin.

Valorian had considered it. But when Calvin began to go off on his own rendition, he was more then happy to just listen to what the young boy created. It was a soothing and calming melody, and Valorian didn't want to ruin it with his voice. He hadn't sung in years, he was quite sure he no longer knew how anymore.
When Calvin finished, Valorian gave him a smile and a series of applause. "That was impressive Calvin. You really are a master of your trade." He looked down one of the roads and just sighed while doing so.
"Why is someone like you here? You seem like you'd be most at home just traveling without a care in the world. Do you even understand the gravity of what we are actually doing?" Valorian questioned. Then he had a realization.
"Oh never mind. Nobody here has any idea of how serious what we are doing is except me. Izzy stuck in her books, Jya barely has a concept of right and wrong and you." He chuckled. "Your a good kid Calvin, but you've got no life experience. This trip will give you that, if nothing else."
He hadn't intended to be so critical, but it was starting to hit him that he was the only one capable of this mission. If something happened to him, it would fail. There was nobody else to continue it if he failed.
Surrounded by friends, yet completely alone.

((OOC: Forever alone…))
BiC: Calvin played away, now engrossed in the medley he was creating. The harmonious tune seemed to whisk him away. Music always helped Calvin relax. He would never notice because he was always in such a good mood, but maybe his music is what puts him there in the first place. When the song came to an end his hand dropped from his lute, leaving it dangling around his shoulders. He had just realized Val didn’t sing along, maybe he just didn’t remember the lyric to the song… which he just made up.
Only a few people from his previous crowd had stuck around, about four people. The all clapped gently together and tossed some coin for his work before heading on their way. Calvin hadn’t made as much money as he did back in Amarillo, but this time he got money from more people, so it was all good in his book. He smiled anxiously as his friend complimented him and he chuckled innocently.
“Really, you think so!? Awwwww, thanks friend!”
Getting compliment had always made Calvin blush a bright rosy pink. His blush faded quickly but a lighter shade still remained when Valorian changed to a more serious tone. Why was he here? Calvin didn’t have an answer for that question, he didn’t know. In fact he never really thought about it. He left home to experience the world, and to make friends. He had never thought there would be so much to learn outside the borders of his family ranch. He also wondered why he was staying with Val and the others. Was it just because they were his friends, should he really be travelling with them for that sole reason… Calvin didn’t know, all he could think about right now was the excitement of travelling with his friends.
“Dunno! I guess I’m here because you guys are all my friends! And I want to spend lots of time with you guys, as much as I can!”
He paused for a minute thinking about it some more. He would be happy travelling without a care in the world, in fact that was what he was doing. More importantly he was doing it with people he cared about.
“I already am travelling the world! In fact, I’m doing one step better, I’m travelling with all of my friends!”
He hummed innocently to himself as Valorian continued talking about the others and the trip. Calvin definitely had a lot to get out of this trip, maybe more than other. However maybe he wasn’t the only one to get something out of this adventure. Maybe others could learn a little something from him? He gently removed the lute from himself and rested it on the ground before nudging over to Valorian and looking down to the floor.
“ I don’t care where we go, ‘so long as I’m with.”
Calvin looked up wit ha sheepish smile and gave Valorian a big friendly hug.
“All my friends!”

The herbalist accepted the money as Jya uncomfortably stuffed the jewelry back into her pockets. Isabel's stare was effective to say the least. As for the copy cat, it appeared to be even more frightening. She smiled awkwardly and thanked the herbalist as she stuffed the medicine into her vast amount of mystery pockets and pouches.
"I guess we should find the others now," she said before making her way out of the shop. She was still shifting through her bags and trying to find room to store the vials. That was when she found an old emergency food sack. She took out a dead rat by its tail.
"Hmm...Thats where I put this guy," she said throwing the rat out. She dug a little deeper and took out another rat but this one was already skinned and cooked, with a large chunk already bitten off.

As the two young women walked out of the store, Solomon, still in Isabel's bag, still facing out the back, stared at the herbalist with all the intensity a cat can muster ((a surprising amount, for those of you who don't own cats)), causing the herbalist to suddenly pale. Solomon did not get to see any further reactions, funny though they undoubtedly were, as the door closed in front of him. The black cat laid his ears back, preparing for a nap... When he smelled food. Glorious, delicious rat! Like the kind that ran around in the old witch's basement that he and some of the other cats would hunt when they felt like getting their own food. Solomon leapt up from the bag, and, landing softly on the ground, located the food, and then pounced on it. From there, he began to tear at the flesh on the rat's side... Sure, it was long dead, but he was hungry.
Isabel was about to ask about the rats when she noticed Solomon. She tapped Jya on the arm, pointing at the cat with the other hand. "I'm sure that scores you some points with him." the shaman said, grinning as Solomon bit the head off the rat, chewing on it thoughtfully. "Umm... Okay... That's a little disgusting. Come on, Solly, you can bring the food the nice green lady gave you with you. We have to go find the boys!" If anyone was watching, they would have sworn the cat had rolled his eyes before spitting put a rat skull, picking up a rat carcass, and following the two girls.

Valorian resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Calvin's reaction. Was this kid for real? It wasn't that he had something against optimism and youthful innocence, but this boy was just over the top. He patted the kid on the back awkwardly, until Calvin eventually released him. Oy, it was more like baby sitting now.
I really need someone I can carry on a conversation with... He thought to himself, as he glanced up and down the street. Almost as if on some kind of a cue, Valorian spotted the familiar blue moving through the streets. He had to take a second look to spy the green next to it, she was just a natural at hiding, even when you were looking for her.
"Ah, over here you two!" He called waving to them.
What a mottle crew they were. "You find what you needed I take it?" He said, eying Jya's bulging pouches.

Jya was nibbling at the cooked meat to check if she cured it first. It was relatively hard and appeared to have been cured. She bit into it more, meat was meat. Than she offered some to Isabel.
"No worries, I cured it," she said in her usual cheerful tone. Than she heard Valorian and tore a piece to offer to him.
"I found some extra meat!"

A new town, alright. This could be fun, or a horrible disaster waiting to happen, y'know either or. It seemed like all towns carried a bit of both to be honest, so that meant you had fun during horrible disasters? Or, um, that horrible disasters were fun but didn't wait around corners but... Um... Well, forget that metaphor, it was stupid anyways.
The tan boy decided to take in some of the sights while he and the pegasus rider stayed at the inn while they passed through. Somehow he had managed to slip away from her, and by somehow he meant that she didn't want to walk around town with him anyways in the first place. Which was typical, but oh well that's just how things played out for Valcrist. All the time.
So, amongst the hustle and bustle of the city of heroes which was kind of disappointing, but expected since everything ever was disappointing to him because he was the hugest cynic jerk ever, he saw an interesting spectacle. Nay, an interesting hurrah. A kid was playing an instrument almost at seemingly random! Well the kid wasn't being random, well kind of, but rather the location was random. Still it was fun to listen to, and had quite the following! Several people even tossed small bits of coin at him like he was a wishing well that happened to be a human and didn't grant wishes but rather played music. Come to think of it, it was nothing like a wishing well. Still with Valcrist's limited frame of reference for street performers, he hadn't know how else to describe it. He's lost many allowances in that well of his village, none of those wishes came true. Well some of them did, but they were woefully underwhelming.
Just as Val was about to say something, perhaps even make a request, he was beat to the punch by some green haired guy that looked no older then Valcrist his self. A quick simple rendition of some song Valcrist didn't recognize, nor had he expected to since he only knew around five songs and three of them were sung by his mother in her... unique singing voice. Still he stuck around to listen to it with a grin on his face, when he was done he went to talk once more, but was interrupted once more by random huggings.
You know what, it wasn't important anyways, forget it. They walked away, but Valcrist couldn't keep his prying eyes away, and watched them and... Oh goodness, was that who he thought it was? Well it made sense, but he surely hadn't thought to see her here of all places. The green guy was talking to her, and she was accompanied by a green girl and the bard kid wasn't far away. Hrm... He wanted to say hi, but... he didn't know any of these people sans Isabel. He assumed this was her group she was traveling with, and somewhere amidst it was a Val. He was tempted to shout out "Hey Val" just to see who's head turned, oh. OH. Oh crap, did he just say that out loud?
Look cool Valcrist, whistle. WHISTLE DANG YOU.

Valorian looked at the rat meat that Jya was offering him with an odd look. First the meat, then back to her...then the meat again. Finally, he let a chuckle escape his lips.
"Well, they do say that compromise is important, so let's see what you like so much about this." He said, reaching out his hand. He couldn't expect her to change everything of who she was just so he could stay how he liked. Meeting half way was important. Before he cold grab a piece of the meat, he heard someone call his name. At first, he considered Tara, but that was a male voice. Was it Rayl? No, too youthful. So who else could possibly recognize him with his new look and still know his disguise name?
He turned and spied a darker skin boy, rough blond hair, and trying to look inconspicuous. Valorian was sure that it was this swordsman who had called out to him. Hmm, a swordsman? Was he one of Katara's students? That would make sense, she might have sent him as a messenger or something after their discussion.
"You're looking for me?" He asked, looking to the boy. "What can I do for you?"
