Tiz stepped down from the wooden staircase and onto the sandy shore, listening to the waves roll in from the Lycian coast. The sky was a dark, deep, cerulean blue that illuminated things just enough to be able to see without being confronted with harsh rays. It was a beautiful time of day, and perhaps Tiz's favorite. He'd never been to this part of the country before, since he spent most of his time in Caelin and Laus, but when he heard about the traveling carnival and festival of sorts, he figured he'd make some time to break away from home to come down and visit. It had been a few weeks since his confrontation with Dak, and he was just now starting to settle down enough to be back in the public eye again. Things were getting easier, and he could allow himself a night of fun.
As he walked down the beachfront, Tiz saw tent after tent after tent, a myriad of people traveling happily between them. Shops, archery tournaments, a mock joust-- this place seemed to have everything. People were selling glass charms, lamps, candles, jewelry, and all things homey and charming. It wasn't quite Tiz's style-- when he spent money, it was rarely on frivolous things such as these, but perhaps he could find a gift for his mom, something for Arno, or maybe even something for Myscha whenever it would be that he saw her again. And of course, as much as Tiz loved fun, he would have to get involved in some of these games.
He walked past one open tent, his eyes trained on the soft yellow candlelights in the corner. Homemade candles were sometimes his favorite, and they made great gifts. The shopkeeper welcomed him with a smile, outstretching her hand as if to showcase her full collection. "Try all you like!" Her old, sweet voice permeated the air and caused Tiz to smile back at her, warmly and brightly.
"Thank you, I just might." He said softly, walking over to a candle labeled "Caelin Cotton". He smelled it, and it reminded him of freshly washed and hung sheets that his mother used to have on the side of their home. It was homey for sure, a soft a delicate scent that reminded him of his youth. "How much for this?" He asked, training his green eyes on the older woman.
The old woman shook her head, smiling, and said that the candle was a gift from her late husband, and she could not part with it. Tiz's eyes widened and he looked away, feeling awkward and embarrassed. He stepped out of the tent and looked around. There were children down at the waterfront, and people all around perusing the shops. It seemed like such a safe and fun place to be... It was rare that Tiz found himself in these sorts of places. He was glad, for once, to be away from all the action.

Wei had been away from home for quite some time. So he was not use to getting letters. However his mother had taken the time to track him down and forward a message to him via pony express. The letter in question was from Wei's old friend, Elpis. The two had not seen each other in tow years and Wei was overjoyed to receive a letter from him. He thank the heavens for having such a kind mother to forward the letter to him while he was traveling about. Inside the letter was a brief summery of what had transpired since the two of them had last meet. However there was also a invitation to stay at his home for a few days and enjoy the carnival that was coming through. Taking his friend up on his offer Wei traveled to the province of Badon to enjoy a week of pleasant company and a night of festivities.
"Elpis", shouted Wei as he walked on the docks. He waved his hands and moved toward a young dark skin man with hair that ran down to the back of his knees. Such long hair was not only unorthodox, but also strange for a man, but Elpis had always been like that. Even as a young boy he had long hair. From what Wei understood it was a tradition amongst his clan to never cut there hair. Elpis himself just had the blood for growing hair. If he was not careful even his eyebrows would grow out and give his face a saggy appearance. On one occasion he let them grow out as a joke. The young man dyed them white and pretended to be a wise old wizard for about a week. Then his mother cut them herself, apparently eyebrows did not follow under that tradition.
As Wei called out the young man turned around and gave a smile. He waved his hand, but did not speak a word. Instead he let his expression give light to how he was feeling. This however did not bother Wei as he knew what most people did not know. Elpis was a mute and as such he could not speak.
"Been far to long friend", spoke Wei as he rubbed his hand in the young man's hair. Elpis did not take to kindly to it as it ruined his look. Straightening his hair back out Elpis handed his friend a candy covered apple and pointed toward a few of the competitions. "The jousts", spoke Wei. The young man shook his head and pointed again. Straining his eyes Wei realized that there was another competition that was going on. "Oh you mean the grand melee", he spoke and the young man gave a nod of approval.
"Sweet I have not seen a melee in years", spoke Wei as he took a bit out of his candy covered fruit and began to move toward the attraction. All a while a smile crossed Elpis face as he moved to enjoy the night.

"A grand melee, you say?"
"Yes, dear. They're quite all the rage."
Tiz's ears perked up and he looked over to a couple that had just entered a wind chime shop. A grand melee? Was this like a competition of strength of something? Tiz wasn't familiar. A contest, maybe, like the one he'd had with Siegfried in Laus? He couldn't be sure, but the young man entered the shop to get a clearer understanding of what was being talked about.
"Why, it's just down the docks! Past the candle tent. There's a ring set up in the sand with a brilliant seaside view, they warriors some all over have come to take part. It's part of the tradition of the Cirque de la Lune!"
The young man smiled, but kept it stifled so that he didn't appear to be eavesdropping. It was already clear enough that he was... What use had he for wind chimes, after all? He couldn't think of many. His apartment had no use for them, and since he didn't own any property, there would be no place for him to put them. But a contest of blades, maybe... That was something he had use for, something he could get behind. Sport was always fun, especially when it involved some swordsmanship. Or whatever weapons were being allowed in the ring. Tiz silently prayed it was forbidden to use magic, but he listened a little longer to see what else the older couple knew.
"Well, p'rhaps I'll head that way, my dear. Won't you come with me? We can enjoy the show and eat somewhere after, hm?"
"Why yes dear, I think that sounds just lovely."
The two took off, and Tiz followed closely behind them. He kept his distance, but followed them to a ring. It was set up much like the one he'd last participated in-- a wide, flat circular stage upon which two men could dance until one was disarmed or otherwise incapacitated. This worked. It looked promising. Around the stage stood crowds of people with food in hand, happily and quietly chatting away, seemingly waiting for something big to start up. Tiz took a stand next to some older men who were armed, seemingly eager to participate in this revelry. He was too. A mischievous grin wrote itself on the Sacaean's face.
The announcer then began his tirade, calling for the most promising and dedicated fighters from across Lycia. It made Tiz laugh-- this was for sport, after all, and he was sure that skill level didn't matter. But the man was so energetic, so persuasive-- how could Tiz not be compelled to participate? He was sure it would be fun, after all. He stepped out of the crowd and happily raised his hand. "I'll go!" He called, the smile still on his face.
The announcer called the young man forward to the stage, beckoning him with haste. Tiz laughed and climbed the stairs, standing atop it, looking around. He was surprised at the amount of people that had come out to see this thing.
"AND WHO WILL FACE THIS BRAVE YOUNG MAN?"

Elpis and Wei had there way to the grand melee. It was a marvel of a sight. Wei had never seen one of these, but from what Elpis told him in a few of his letters he had been to many. They where quite entertaining. It was probably the reason why Wlpis had invited him to come to one. Wei had mention that he wanted to see one and now one was happening. However that was not all Elpis was into. Wei's young friend had a bad habit that caused the two of them to meet each other. That habit was starting to come back up. "Man this is quite the sight", spoke Wei as he turned to see Elpis gone. Wei looked around for a bit, but he was unable to find his friend.
"Yo Elipis", shouted Wei as he looked around. For about a minute Elpis seemed to be no where to be found. Wei however knew better than to go off and look for the young man. Elpis would eventually come back and walking around and screaming would never allow you to find him. Even if Elpis could hear your voice he would not be able to yell back making the entire ordeal frustrating and counter productive. After a while the young man resurfaced from a crows of people. He had his hands in his pocket and a cheerful smile across his face. For a moment Wei stopped and looked at the young man scanning him from head to toe. He then gave off a long sigh. "You picked pocketed a few of the patrons didn't you", spoke Wei as he stared at his friend with judgmental eyes. Elpis shook his head in denial, but the turning of his eyes toward the sky told him otherwise.
"Oh come on Elpis! That is what got you locked up back home. You can't go around pickpocketing people like a common thief." A blank expression covered Elpis face as he looked at Wei. For most people it would be hard to read what the young man's facial expressions meant, but Wei and him where childhood friends. "Don't give me that expression. You said you where turning over a new leaf in your letters a few months back. What happened", he spoke, but the young boy ignored him and rushed up to the bar keeping people from falling into the arena. The man on the stage was asking for a challenger and Elpis seemed to be excited.
"What is going on", spoke Wei as he drew close. His friend, and Wei uses that world loosely now, suddenly kicked his leg causing him to fall over and pushed him into the arena. "Elpis", shouted Wei as he hit the dirt. He looked up and saw the young mute waving at him as the crowd went crazy.
"Looks like we have a challenger", spoke the man as he looked at Wei.
"Crap", spoke the young man as he was just entered into the Grand Melee. He looked back up at Elpis with a stern expression, but his so called friend just gave him a wide grin. "I am going to dunk his head in a pig's troth after this is over", spoke Wei as he began to walk up to the stage. There was no turning back now.

"O-Oh..." Tiz said lightly, the breath escaping his mouth before he realized what was going on. At first, he thought he was going to fight two children, but now it looked to be only one. But still, children? They let kids into these things? This boy had to be at least 10 years younger than Tiz, which meant that he likely had little battle experience and would be easy work. This was no fun! And there was little sport in beating a child. Tiz looked over to the referee of the match, who seemed pleased with the situation.
"Come on!" Tiz said, his arms out and surrendered, palms open. "I can't fight a kid! This is crazy!" The referee shook his head with a wide, wicked smile, as if to declare that this battle was fate, and that there was no way he was going to put a stop to it now. That was ridiculous, Tiz thought... He couldn't bear to hurt a kid. This was silly. Most of the crowd, though, seemed to enjoy the appearing entertainment. Did everyone here really want Tiz to fight a small boy? That was kind of sick, he thought. Tiz sighed, closing his eyes and shaking his head slowly.
He pursed his lips and looked to the boy, a disappointed look in his eyes. He was normally very kind, but this situation was taxing on him. "Listen kid, I don't think I should... fight you...? Look, this seems all wrong." Tiz looked pleadingly over to the ref, who still seemed to have no sympathy for Tiz's situation. What a dreadful place, he thought. But then Tiz had an idea. If they really weren't going to let him out of the ring, he could at least even the odds a little bit...
"Fine." He said dismissively, deciding there was little hope for him. He quickly detached the belt and sword he carried from around his sleeveless coat and set it down aside at the edge of the ring. At the very least, he would make this fight fair. If the kid was using an axe, Tiz would see what he could do totally unarmed. He looked to the ref and spoke with a careful, dominant command. "If I'm being forced to fight this kid, I'm at least going to play fair. When he strikes me and draws blood, call the match. If I disarm him first, call the match."
He looked back to the child and cracked his neck, moving it around the axis upon which it sat, loosening his body. He rolled his shoulders back and parted his feet, his arms hanging at his sides. "Alright, then. Come on."
Tiz didn't expect this would be much fun, despite his usual optimism... But he guessed maybe he could be proved wrong.

"What the crap", spoke Wei as he looked at Tiz. The man had insulted him. Sure Wei was younger than him and was probably going to loss, but he could at least fight him with a weapon. The grand melee was a test of skill. It was a cultural event. No one expected you to fight his fullest against Wei, but they where at least hoping to see the fury of the young man's skill in combat. By disarming himself Tiz pretty much told Wei that he was not even worth his time. Without blinking a eye Wei tossed his axe aside. "Come on I know you are older and probably stronger than me, but don't look down on me", spoke Wei as he took a step and widen his stance. "I will not fight a unarmed man with a weapon. If you refuse to fight with your sword then I will fight with my hands as well. The first to be pinned or surrender will lose, does that suit your taste", spoke Wei. The young boy however did not wait for Tiz to agree.
First I need to break his balance, thought Wei to himself as he lunged forward. Wei had learned to wrestle from his father and knew how to take down opponents bigger than himself. It was a matter of taking a shot on the inside of there legs and throwing off there balance with his legs. Wei lowered his body and let his right knee touch the ground. He then slid his leg through scraping his pants on the wooden planks. The boy aimed to grab a hold of Tiz's right leg. If he wrpped around it he would throw his weight toward's Tiz knee and try to push the man down like a tree in the wind.

"Mm..." Tiz thought for a moment, bringing a finger up to his pursed lips, his eyes aimed towards the sky as he thought about the kid's request. Sure, he didn't mind a fair fight, but in his mind this was far from fair. "No, I'm good." He said sheepishly, his voice genuine and sweet. "I really don't think that..." But Tiz's voice trailed off as he watched the boy disarm himself and prepare to charge at Tiz with the full weigh of his smaller body.
There was no way this was really happening. Seriously? This kid probably didn't weigh anything; he was reckless and wild, too forward, not enough precision in his moves. Tiz followed the boy's eyes as they shifted downward towards his legs, listening to him state the rules of their to-be wrestling match. That's what he wanted? He wanted to wrestle a grown man twice his size, weight, and height? This was turning out to be a bad idea, Tiz though. He figured it might've been best for him to stay by the candle shop, pretending he had the money to buy nice gifts for his friends. He sighed as the boy recklessly charged at him, lunging forward as his smaller frame hit the ground. So a leg sweep? Or was he relying on Tiz's momentum to take him down? That would be smarter, Tiz thought, since his strength alone probably wouldn't be enough. Not with conditioned leg muscles like the ones he knew he had. What he liked in bicep strength, he made up for in calf and thigh strength.
Sighing, the young man shoved his hands into his pockets, and with catlike grace, he hopped back and to the side, bouncing lightly off of his right foot as he did. The boy would meet air and the wood of the stage upon which they danced. With a smile, Tiz landed softly a few feet beside the boy. "Too slow. Try again, this time... with less... Uh, don't be so forward. Make me guess at what you're going to do, don't just tell me." He smiled at the boy and turned his head to the side.
"Don't worry, I'm not patronizing you." He looked around at the displeased crowd. "Try again. Going for my legs is a good idea, but you've gotta have some more finesse than that." Tiz winked at the kid.

"D#$%", spoke Wei as he missed. He was sure he could catch him off guard that way. However the man was fast, he was quick on his feet. As Wei hit the wood he rolled to regain himself. It was clear to him that he was going to have to be more creative. A single leg shot was not going to be enough to take him down. He was going to need to do something to catch the man off guard. It was then however that his opponent opened his mouth and began to speak. Every work was a insult, at least in Wei's eyes. He should not be talking, but trying to win. For Wei the swordsmen was stomping on his pride and kicking it in the rear.
"I don't need help", spoke Wei as he began to size up the man again. He figured the shot would probably be his best mode of attack, but he was going to need to mix things up a bit. Pure wrestling was not going to work here. Wei was going to need to change the game and then switch back to it. Raising his hands up Wei positioned his fist the way his father had showed him. "Alright lets test my hand speed", spoke the young lad as he tried to rush in and take a punch at Tiz. He figured the man would underestimate him like he did before. Wei was not the fastest boxer, but he was told he had a mean left hook. The woodcutting he had done had made his arms strong, but he was not sure if it was strong enough. Still Wei was going to try.
"Alright lets give it a shot", spoke Wei as he threw a right straight aiming for the midsection of the man's body.

Tiz sighed again, unfortunately unamused. It was one thing to fight a child, but it was another entirely to fight one who was unwilling to learn. How dreadfully sad, Tiz thought as the boy shouted something at him about how he didn't need help. It was silly, but somehow it reminded him of himself at a younger age-- bold, reckless, unafraid to do anything. He wasn't like that as much any more, and yet, he found himself drawn to this type of attitude. It could be a lot worse, he figured, since the kid could've just as easily been whiny or afraid to fight. At the very least, the red-haired boy had guts. Tiz could admire that, though he had hoped to gain something more out of this encounter than a boy who wasn't willing to listen. Testing his speed against Tiz was a bad idea, but he would let the boy try. If Tiz was good at anything, it was being faster than his opponents, and he had worked tirelessly for years to ensure that if he ever had an advantage, it was speed based. Tiz locked eyes with the red-headed boy as he readied a punch, totally ignoring what Tiz had said about making him guess, about not being so obvious with his moves. In a fist fight, surprise was everything-- it didn't take brute force to win these fights; by Tiz's estimation, it took skill, finesse, and sometimes luck. As the boy charged him, Tiz freed his hands from his pockets, and as the boy came forward with his punch, Tiz quickly stepped to the side and reached out for the boy's arm, attempting to grab it and throw him over himself using his own provided inertia. If it worked, the boy would flip over and land on his back, the weight of his sprint carrying him effectively.

"What the F#$%", spoke Wei as he found himself looking up into the clouds. A applause came from the crowd as Tiz showed his skills with the martial arts. However from Wei it was only another curse as he found himself yet again bested. "D$%^ it", shouted Wei as he slammed his fist onto the wood. In a futile attempt at rage Wei attempted to kick the man's shin with his leg and rolled over to get back on his feet. "This guy is really pissing me off", spoke Wei mainly to himself. It was annoying. Wei had no idea how in the world did he cause him to flip, but he was sure he was not going to let him do it again.
Over the sound of the crowd yelling Wei heard a familiar tune. A song on a strange flew song over the crowd. For most people it was a simple melody played by a simple musician, but for Wei was a push in the back by his old friend Elpis. The young man had no voice to raise, but he had his flute. His flute pushed his emotions and motivation through the air waves toward his target. "Alright I will straighten up and show my stuff", spoke Wei as he jumped backwards. At this point he was sure that a direct attack would not work, however he had to do a direct attack. There was no other way. If he did something else then he would admit that the guy was right. Wei could not allow that. He would not allow that. He would defeat him his way!
"Alright dodge this next attack if you can", shouted Wei as he jumped back to create more space. Placing one hand on the ground Wei bent his legs over like a sprinter. At full speed he charged forward toward his opponent. At first it seemed like the young journeymen was planning to simply charge into the man, but that was not Wei's plan. As he grew close Wei leaped into the air and threw his entire body into a drop kick aimed at the man's center.

Tiz couldn't help but laugh aloud to himself, and probably to the boy, as he attempted to recover himself, blindly swinging and missing at every turn. Tiz also thought that his cursing was funny-- he knew a few people like that, the ones that would get upset when things weren't going their way. Like him, Tiz had once been this way. Only coming of age had helped temper him a bit, but even now, when he got truly upset, it was hard to calm him down. Tiz understood the boy's plight, but with these reactions continuing one after the next, he had no intention of going easy on the red-haired kid.
The man's ears perked up, and he took a second to look around as he heard music coming from somewhere in the crowd. He didn't think much of it aside from it being pretty, but it seemed to have some sort of effect on the boy he was currently tussling with. His fire seemed renewed despite his constant failed attempts at bringing Tiz down. In truth, this wasn't even a battle-- in all his years, Tiz had met many scrappy kids, but this kid was in a league of his own. The fire was admirable, but beyond that, he couldn't find much else.
Shoving his hands back in his pockets, Tiz watched carefully as the redhead readied himself, leaning down as if he were going to lunge forward, much like Tiz did when armed with a sword. It was a stance he was too familiar with, and when the boy sprinted forward and then leaped in the air, Tiz was amused. A smile drew itself across his face, showing his teeth, and he was excited. Finally, the kid was starting to become a little more creative. Tiz thought about humoring him and letting the kick land, but it would likely hurt, and he didn't have much way to brace himself, so he elected it best to avoid the coming blow.
Channeling his energy quickly in his feet and calves, Tiz closed his eyes and focused his mind. He tried to visualize the transference of energy into his feet, and with blinding speed, almost rendering him a total blur, Tiz wheeled about placing himself the boy as his kick came down, perfectly evading the attack. His augmented celerity lasted but a moment, but it was sharp and powerful enough to create a new, almost superhuman level of speed, beyond what normal people were capable of. It was a trick he'd familiarized himself with, and while he didn't often show off with it, he figured he could allow himself to do so this time.
Hands still in his pockets, Tiz whistled a pitch that started high and moved low, mimicking a bird dive-bombing into the ocean. "Still too slow. How about for this next one, I close my eyes?" Tiz joked, smiling at the boy as he spoke.

"Impossible", spoke Wei as the man blurred out of the way. It was not even physically possible, thought Wei as his body sailed through the air. Missing his target Wei was left to the fates. The young boy flew threw the air and off the stand. Eventually his body broke form as he flew through the air and hit the dirt. The impact was great, but Wei did not break anything. However that did not stop it from hurting. The young journeymen held his arm as he pulled himself out of the dust. "What was that", spoke Wei as he looked up at Tiz. It was then that the judge waved his hand and gave a verdict on the match.
"Ring out, the winner is Tiz", he spoke as he raised the young man's hand. "Good job dealing with the boy", spoke the man. "If you want a real opponent come back later in the afternoon that is when the nobles will be competing."
"D#$%", shouted Wei as he punched his fist into the dirt. He did not get a single hit in during the match. His frustration was only multiplied by the cheers of the people in the stands. Wei was not the only one memorized by the man's skillful movement. Many of the spectators had never seen a skill in there life and even more where just simply amazed that he was able to pull it off. As the crowd roared only one person was quite and that was Elpis. A slight smile crossed his face as he looked down at his friend. "Shut up", spoke Wei as he turned his gaze.
"One day I will defeat you", shouted the boy toward Tiz as his friend jumped from the stands and walked over to him. Without a word Elpis handed him a candy apple. Wei attempted to knock the candy covered fruit out of the young man's hand, but quick fingers prevented it and the young boy offered it to him once more. "Fine I will eat the D#$% fruit", shouted Wei as he snatched the delight out of Elpis hand. As he began to bite into it, Elips snuck away like he always did. Jumping onto the state Elpis walked over onto the myrmidon and pulled on his coat. He offered up his hand for a hand shake as a way of saying good job.
However the little devil was not pleased with his friends complete defeat. He knew Wei was going to be soar about this for quite a while. So while he played nice with the man he used a sly of the hand to try and steal something out of his pocket. No better revenge than to take something that belonged to the victor.

Tiz chuckled and smiled at the now-peeved red headed boy. "That was just a little luck," he said playfully, winking at him before watching him sulk off the wooden stage. As the ref spoke to him, Tiz sheepishly raised a hand up to decline the offer, smiling as he did. He was done for the day, especially after this little fiasco. He collected his sword and belt, and before he could leave the arena, a small, dark-skinned kid approached him, shook his hand, and then tried to slip something from his long coat. "O-Oh," Tiz said, stunned, unsure of what to do. He hadn't even been around a kid so forward before. He knelt down and pulled a pouch from behind his waist.
"You uh... Need money?" He asked awkwardly, but the boy didn't answer. Tiz handed him a few coins, all that he had on his person at the time. As the child scampered off to gods-knew-where, Tiz adjusted his clothing and sword, shook himself off, and headed down the wooden stairs. He watched as his previous opponent beat his fist into the dirt and cried out in what sounded like a vengeful promise, the kind he was all too familiar with...
"Heh, well...Yeah, maybe someday you will." It sounded like a joke, but Tiz was serious. It wouldn't take much to train and become as good as you wanted to-- after all, the soldier's dream was attainable, with a little work. Hard work and time would pay off, especially for a kid like this. "Listen," Tiz began slowly, approaching the boy and placing a hand on his shoulder as he sulked.
"You've got all the spunk and fire you need, but you've gotta be able to back that up on the battlefield, or your opponents will make quick work of you. Got it? I'm no expert, but I could show you a few things if you want, you know. I don't mind. After all, you did fearlessly take me on despite probably knowing that you'd lose." Tiz flashed a smile at him. "What's your name, kiddo?"

The guy ticked Wei off. Sure he knew he was going to loss, but he did not think he was going to loss like that. However there was no more point in being angry. Anger would not make him a better fighter, nor would it help him move toward his ultimate goal. Wei was just going to have to suck it all up and live with it. "The name is Wei and not Kiddo. I have a friend who is called Kiddo and it bothers me to be called that", spoke the redheaded youth. His mind could not help but wounder back to the young orange haired girl that lived across the streets from him. Her name was Kid and she was pretty good at breaking into places. Wei called her Kiddo as a nick name of some sorts, but that was a thought for another time.
"Listen .... dude, I understand that you are strong in all, but you don't fight the way I fight. I like to fight head first and straight forward. I understand that some times it is stupic and some times it does not work, but it is a matter of both pride and admiration. The strong man faces his opponents head on. That way when he wins there is not doubt that he is the winner. Your goal should be to crush your opponent, but to never humiliate them. Well that is what my father told me. If you defeat a man without humiliating them then you can gain a friend. If I don't take on my opponents head on who am I going to gain there respect. Instead I will just get there ire and then I won't be able to turn a enemy into alley."
Thinking about his friend Wei looked around to see if he could find Elpis. He had a few stern words for his mute friend. Unknown to him however Elpis had retreated back into the stands. He was surprised that the swordsmen had noticed his attempt to pick pocket him. He was sure that he could steal from him and move away. Tiz was starting to peak the young boy's interest. Rubbing his chin Elpis watched the two of them from afar.

As Wei spoke, Tiz listened, but kept his eyes trained on the boy that had garnered his attention earlier, off somewhere now in the stands. He was a mischievous little kid with a bright smile, and while Tiz's gaze was trained on him, he might've seemed distracted as Wei spoke, but in truth, his attention was divided evenly. He didn't want to be stolen from again, but he was honestly interested in what Wei had to say, though he found himself disagreeing with most of it.
Tiz reached behind his head again and rested a hand on the back of his neck, looking up at the appearing stars as night began to fall harder and faster over the beachfront. "Oh, sorry, haha... Wei, got it. Won't make the 'kiddo' mistake again, promise." He smiled genuinely at the boy, happy that he was at least still here talking to him. He laughed at took a seat on the sand as Wei spoke, excited as the boy talked about his father and the style in which he found it most admirable to do battle. Tiz could understand the sentiment, though he personally found it to be a little short-sighted, perhaps a touch narrow. Then again, he was just a boy-- it wasn't like Tiz expected him to have a full understanding of combat at so young an age. But the boy's clear interest was refreshing. Tiz didn't often get to talk about the blade.
He met the boy's eyes. "Well sure Wei, you can fight like that. All styles have their weaknesses, ya know. And all have their strengths. Thing is, if you wanna fight so recklessly, you gotta be fast. And you gotta hit hard. See?" He gestured back to the stage upon which they had just fought. "If you want to charge me, be faster than me. If you want to open a wide, obvious attack, make it fast. And make it hit hard-- but also try to allow yourself the space to recover quickly in case you miss. 'Course, I never meant to embarrass you or anything... I was just trying to, uh," Tiz bit his lip, nervous about choosing his words. "Teach you? I don't know. I'm not much of a teacher, and I've never used an axe. But hell, can't be ALL that different, can it? Anyway..." Tiz looked back over to the stage, where it looked as though another fight was gearing up without the two.
"I don't know how many enemies can become friends in the heat of a battle," he said admittedly, "but I guess in skirmishes like these, yeah, maybe that works out. My name's Tiz. It's nice to meet you," He flashed the boy a warm smile.
