Hey guys,
Never thought I’d be posting this kind of message here, but here goes:
I want to thank all the RPers here, active and inactive, for making this board such a home to me for the past eight years. This board snagged me when I was the young, impressionable age of 17, just a dumb kid writing stupid Final Fantasy fan-fiction, and has turned me into a better writer than I had ever thought possible at the time. Charlie and I once went over my career here on WotW, and it turns out I’ve written over two novels on this site with Richter alone! That kind of blew my mind, but it just goes to show how important this site has always been to me.
Whether it be our shenanigans in the cbox, the grand battles I so love to write in, or just sitting around and shooting the crap, I’ve always had fun on this site. With you guys I’ve made some awesome memories, and hopefully I’ve been able to help you guys in making memories of your own. And I hope you continue to do so. This board has always been about the stories we tell, and really, you guys make this board. Without you, WotW wouldn’t have stuck around for ten damn years. No matter what, WotW will always be an important part of my history as person.
Starting today, I’ll be resigning as a moderator, and will be taking an indefinite, extended leave of absence from WotW. That’s not to say I’ll never return, I don’t like absolutes, but I don’t expect myself to ever really return in a real capacity, so really, consider this a goodbye.
For all of you in threads with me, feel free to RP yourselves out however you want to. Maybe Richter got lost in a snowstorm, maybe Edward got lost on the trail, and likely Saturos disappeared like his wily old self. Whatever the case, don’t let my departure slow you down!
Feel free to keep in touch, and keep on chugging away at writing those stories!
Thanks, Richter
EDIT: I realize I've been fairly withholding with this info until now, for anyone who wants it - AIM: moogleshadow Skype: nick_sturgeon

For the longest time, you and Hal were the glue that kept us nerdy teens together, for better or worse. You and I might not have agreed with every idea or ideal we ever discussed with each other, but I've still got mad respect for you, and always will. Thanks for all the advice and the memories over the years, man.
And be a good papa for your family, okay? <3

Damn, well, I'll say this for your Richter, I probably would have left back when Wyatt was the only mod if it hadn't of been for some of the kind words you had for me, it's sad to see you go.
Let's just call Path of Radiance vs Radiant Dawn a draw.

There is alot of history for this whole board tied up in your characters, Richter. Clair and Richter feel like they were about half of the beginning of the current arc. From what I can gather, Satty was involved in alot of shenanigans in the rebellion and following. lol.... You've not just written some massive and grand tales of your own, but enriched our tales with your special blend of grim epic as well.
I'll wrap up our part in the current Edessa thread.
I've got alot of respect for you as a person, and I'll miss having you around here. Of course, I'll also be keeping in touch. Best Fortunes. I'll remember our years writing here fondly.

You and I go way back, we didn't always see eye to eye on a few things but we did our best to work together to get crap done. Much like all of my staff members I appreciate all of the hard work and dedication you guys poured into the site, I'd be lying if I didn't say you were my favorite. I hate to see you leave all together, I did enjoy the times we did actually RP together even if it wasn't often.

I didn't know you too well Richter, but you're a good guy and, from what I can tell, you were a good mod. Best of luck with your wife and child, best of luck with your future.
See you around.

I get the overwhelming feeling that something I don't understand-- something very important, has been lost. I have admired your character and your writing from afar, recognizing it as high quality. If I may say, it really sets the bar for a powerful legacy. It is a shame that our two characters will likely never meet. So long.

Richter -
You're not here, and may never see this, but I want to say thank you. You've been a pillar of the board, along with Hal, Nayru, and the rest, and I'm sorry I wasn't there for your departure. Best wishes for all that is to come.

Wow, I know I'm late and you probably won't see this for a long time if at all but you will be missed. You sure made me a better writer while here as well.

This is late, in fact I'm pretty sure you'll probably never see this. Still with you gone, I suppose this is the closest thing I have short of screaming into the void and hoping you'll hear it. I wanted to say thank you, of course for all the writing and such with me over the years, and while that's been fun it isn't the reason I want to thank you.
You see I've gone through some rough times over the last few years, unnecessarily rough, and selfishly rough. Nothing bad was happening to me, and I had no reason to be the way I was besides some unkind thoughts about myself. I had no one to blame but myself for getting in that situation, but I have plenty of people to thank for getting out of it. People in my real life, family and friends, and strangely you. It was nothing specific you did or anything, but when I felt pretty much worthless you showed me other people depend on me, even in something as small as a silly fire emblem related roleplay on the internet. You put trust in me, and my characters with ideas and plans, and it pains me that I never saw them through.
I've been a part of sites in the past, and roleplays have come and gone. I always loss interest eventually and sort of fade away, as I've done here many times. I always came back though, and you were a big part of it. Even with me coming back now, after having a such a clean break after about half a year, is due in part to you. Though you aren't even really here anymore, so that's kind of a moot point.
I wouldn't say we're friends, I mean after all I didn't know you that well and you didn't know me that well, and truth be told I probably was barely a speck in your radar. A "hmm, oh he's back?" in a sea of faceless names on a forum. Still to me you were important, and I am sincerely going to miss you. They say for every person there are a few people who's life you change without ever knowing it, and I just want to say you've help change mine.
I am sincerely going to miss you, and I wish you all the luck in the world, Joseph Abrams aka Elias

Haha. I just discovered this after a four month leave. In light of this old news, I'm going to go against my better judgement and share something with everyone. I originally joined this site back at the end of 2010 under the name Sextimus. Yup, I was here back when Feld and Wyatt were active and right before Richter first got Damonsahn. I made two characters during that time. Sextimus, and his older brother Leontius. I remember painstakingly committing between 24-36 hours spread out over two days to Leontius. I remember how much making and submitting Leon meant to me at the time. I remember waiting to hear back from the staff and having this sense of elation when Richter gave Leon the stamp of approval. I kind of jumped for joy when he said my profile was 'quite the read' and that 'the cat part made me sad'. Click on the link. I promise that reference doesn't sound as ghoulish in context. He didn't say much, but even then I admired Ricther as a writer and an admin, and receiving that little praise was very moving for me. As an amateur writer it gave me no small amount of hope. I never wrote with you, Richter, but I always admired his, admired your, writing. Leon's profile thread: fewotw.proboards.com/thread/3279/leontius-sextimus-first-altI may get in trouble for having with-held this information, but I think it's worth sharing it if it means honoring a man whom I have a great deal of respect for. Thanks for having been such a cornerstone of the site, Richter. You were in no small part one of the reasons I, and so many others, have joined and returned to this site time and time again. And though I have no doubt that you'll be back to shoot the crap sometimes, it is a difficult thing to learn that you retired. You're a great guy, and i have no doubt you'll be a great dad. -Ravvus

I didn't know about this. I completely understand, though. Life has ways of taking us into new directions.
You have always and still continue to be a model for my spriting. It was your sprites that egged me on to always improve and the indomitable spirit of Richter to seek glory in my own characters. Though we hardly RP'ed with each other, much respect for always staying active when I would have my half-year leaves.
Bring your kid on here when you can. ;)

This is a very late message, but I'm slow on the uptake like always. Seeya Richter and hopefully your writing ventures in the future will be long and fruitful as well. We might not have interacted much in character, but I do respect the time and effort you put in this place. Thanks for all the time and stories you have grafted.
