Selk took another coughing fit as Aaron pulled him up out of the water. He slowly regained full consciousness and sat up, quickly remembering that his leg was burned, bruised, and had splinters in it. He then heard Wein's comment about carrying them and spoke up in a somewhat raspy voice, "You...won't need...to," he was halted in speaking as he coughed a few more times. "You won't need to carry me," he stated after spitting up a bit more water. "I just need...to get the last of my....vulnerary onto my leg to get it healing," he grunted as he untied the pouch from his hip and worked on taking off his lower leg armor and his plated boot. After he had them both off he removed the few splinters that were in his leg and tore off the burned, blood stained clothing. He then poured the light green solution over his wounds. There was a great stinging sensation at which he gritted his teeth and grunted for a moment or two. Then came the warm, soothing feeling of the healing powers of the liquid. He tied the empty pouch to his belt as the last of the substance sunk into his wounds and seemed to disappear. He would then put his lower leg armor and boot back on.
He struggled to his feet and took a few deep breaths upon standing. "I'm all for getting our of here, too. I'm ready to go."

Lilith gasped as Aaron described the wolves. She had learned much about different creatures, and how to identify those which had been overcome by magic. She remembered her teacher talking about both humans being cursed to take a wolfish form and of wolves who's bodies had been conquered by dark forces.
"Wait! Those wolves... no one was bitten, where they? They were either werewolves or wolves possessed by demons. In either case, they pass on their afflictions by their bite! If anyone has been bitten... they'd need to see a skilled cleric or bishop before the week is out," she yelled.

Bridget smiled at Lilith. She clearly knew her stuff, what with her spouting of what to do in case of 'werewolves' and whatnot. "Considering that we're talking about monsters, that seems entirely possible." Bridget said. "And please, it's not 'madame'. Just Bridget is fine." she added, remembering the girl's question.
Bridget stood up and walked over to a rock, where she sat. "All of this discussion is nice, but if we're going to get anywhere, we all need to come to a single decision. Like Lilith says, if anyone was attacked directly by those things, there's a chance they'll have more than just a scratch. If everyone IS ready to leave, then we should." Bridget looked around at all of the others. She was surprised to find that she actually cared what happened to them- especially the girl, Lilith. Maybe she wouldn't steal from them after all. "All in favor of leaving?" Bridget asked, raising her hand.

Aaron heard Wein say he would carry them if need be and smiled at him. "Well, if it comes to that, I can lend a hand." Selk revived, and tended to his injuries. He, at least, would be able to move, if carefully. Lillith was also recovered, shouting something about seeing a healer. Aaron now was feeling a bit apprehensive about the injuries on his face he'd taken. Just a bit of acidic breath and spit, but it couldn't hurt to get it checked out Aaron agreed with Bridget, Selk, and Wein. They should try to get some distance in. The day was still early, so they would have some time to travel yet. "Time to go I guess." Aaron walked over and struggled for a moment with the unconscious armored rider. Weary muscles strained as he slung Denzel up, over his shoulder. Muscles built from the training his grandfather had given him awoke after a time of the relative ease of travel. He wondered what the Knight's reaction would be when he awoke, and found no horse. Well, maybe it will find us.He turned toward the group and spoke loudly enough for all to hear. "I don't want to be around these woods any longer than necessary. Let's get on with our friendly visit to Ostia, eh?" - - - - - Travel. They were nearing the city of Ostia now. The sun was still fairly high in the sky, but there were clouds over the city. Aaron was wearing down from carrying Denzel and his armor. The mage was beginning to come to an intimate understanding of what an old, workhorse might feel like. Still he pressed onward as he could. Surely, the city was only just ahead. Of course, he was just fooling himself. He'd lost track of an exact fix on their location when they came out of the forest. "Oh, this is..." his breaths were coming in huffs as the, now irritated mage spoke out. "rediculous." He hadn't come to know the cavalier well in their time traveling, but anyone who achieved that rank earned his respect, let alone someone so young. He'd just have to keep going for a bit longer. That's what he kept telling himself. "Bridget...did you say you had a map? It would be nice to know where we are..."

Wein walked over to Aaron, tapping him on the shoulder. "If you're getting tired, I'll carry Denzel," he said, concern in his voice. "Wouldn't want you to tire out before we get there." Wein looked up, gazing around for a sign of anything familiar. Unfortunately, though, the land around them was mostly prairie, with the occasional tree dotting the landscape.
"I'd try to help," he said, "but even being native Ostian, I can't really discern the local prairie from anything else. It's pretty sameish. Not to mention I haven't been home in...well, years." Wein looked back to Aaron. "Really, though, give me the kid. You've been carrying him awhile."

Selk had remained silent during their seemingly endless trek. He had nothing he could say at the moment. Not because he didn't want to speak, but more that he didn't think he could right now. His mind was hard-pressed into reliving the battle they had just fled. Over and over again he went through each step, trying to recall a bit more each time. He wanted to remember what had been going on around him outside of his own battle with the wolf-creature. The one thing he remembered most was that for one moment....for one brief second when he delivered the finishing blow to the beast....he felt happy. Why was he happy that he'd killed this beast? Sure it was attacking him, but why did destroying it make him glad? No....he had decided that it wasn't destroying the beast that made him happy. Instead it was the joy of triumph. His victory, although small at the time, was what made him glad. He was relieved that it was over and that he could go on protecting and being with his friends.

At Wein's offer to take Denzel, Aaron breathed a quick sigh of relief. "Thanks..." He tried to pass the cavalier off as gracefully as he could to the archer.
The mage reached his arms over his head, before pressing them into the small of his back, stretching his aching bones out. "Well, I certainly don't want to take up metal hauling."
The quip brought Wyatt, the young smith who toted all his gear with him, and Malachi, a veteran knight to mind. Both had been unaccounted for after the forest fire. This brought the disasterous flames back to Aaron's mind. That's it. the first opportunity I get I'm going to practice working to learn to extinguish natureal fire.

Bridget hummed to herself as she walked with the group, content to stick near Lilith and Kishou for the time being. She felt sorry for the guys who had the carry so much, but not so much as to volunteer herself. Bridget certainly could do heavy lifting, and often did so when working on her sorta-father's boat. But she knew they wouldn't ask her, a young woman, to do anything but tote around her own stuff, which was by itself pretty heavy.
Bridget looked up when she heard Aaron ask for her map. She reached into the bag on her hip and drew out the worn and drawn-on map. Just as she was about to run up to give it to the mage, Bridget suddenly felt somewhat ashamed. The map itself was correct, but Bridget had misspelled so many of the territories and landmarks that she felt stupid to let anyone else see them. But, Aaron had asked for it. Bridget jogged up to Aaron and thrusted it forward. "Here." she muttered before running back to where she had been. Bridget's head drooped now, utterly humiliated to have shown someone of intelligence her own lack thereof. How embarrassing.

Lilith had entertained herself on the trek by humming various songs and skipping nonstop. In the tenseness of the fire, she thought she had come off life a downer to the new members of the group, and she wanted them to know that she was not like every other practitioner of the elder magics.
As of now, she was humming a song she heard a minstrel use to address the problem of eerily-similar houses being built rapidly within cities titled "Little Boxes". She could remember some of the words, but she thought singing while skipping was a little too obnoxious. Even she had her boundaries.

Wein took Denzel from Aaron and place the young cavalier onto his back. He grunted as he adjusted the boy, shifting his wait around until he found a comfortable position. Wein's legs began aching as Denzel's weight pushed down on him.
The bearded archer laughed. "Yeah, can't say that's my idea of an ideal job," he said with a slight groan. "I'm not really cut out for heavy labor."

For the first time since their escape from the forest fire, Selk began to smile. His victory and the fact that he could still be with his comrades....er...most of them...was enough to put him at ease for now. He did worry about what happened to the other three. Yaen, Malachi, and Wyatt were all missing in action. Although he wasn't sure what had happened to them, he hoped for the best for them. He wanted to meet up with them again some day.
Selk finally felt the need to have conversation again. Particularly when he heard Wein mention that he wasn't cut out for hard labor. "If it gets to be too much for you, Wein, I can carry Sir Denzel," he said with a gesture towards the unconscious young man on Wein's back. He then shot a glance back towards the two newest members of their group and Lilith. He move closer to them and introduced himself, "Hello to both of you. I'm Selk Mar. I don't think I caught either of your names before." He looked from Kishou to Bridget, shifting between them. He extended his hand for one to shake and then the other.

Bridget came up and handed the map to Aaron. He smiled a thanks at her as he forced himself to meet her eyes rather than wander elsewhere. People deserved to be treated as more than just their bodies. He wouldn't treat her like just a show piece, no matter how pleasing her appearance was. He took the map and looked it over.
On it were Los and Feray, and in large print was OSTIA. The map looked good, but some of the spellings were not the Lycian standard. It didn't matter. There was a whole philosophy he'd studied that said people should spell things how they sounded, rather than in a specific way. Aaron himself preferred to have a certain way to write things, but he'd decided that the two methods could coexist fine.
He studied the map out for a time before he found where he thought they were. Lillith was back to her normal self seemingly, skipping along. Her attitude always refreshed him, though he was nfamiliar with what she was humming. "Well, I guess if we keep on for another hour or so we'll reach a good camp spot. From there we should be able to reach Ostia by before noon tomorrow."
He made to return the map, but just then Selk was introducing himself. He'd wait for the introductions to conclude before he spoke any more.

Kishou, traveling alongside Bridget and the young Lilith, nodded to the lancer, shaking his hand. He already introuced himself to Wein and Aaron, but he didn't mind making himself familiar with everyone, even the newly dubbed Selk Mar.
"I am Kishou, a traveling monk from Etruria. I was traveling alone to see if any neighboring villages in Lycia would need assistance from the Church of Elibe. Most specifically..." he paused, almost embarrassed. "Bandit purging..."
"But enough about that. Are you feeling alright? You weren't... bitten, by that sinful creature, were you?" He wasn't sure if Lilith's fears were to be noteworthy or not, but even after nearly escaping with their lives, these men needed to seek hospitality, and Kishou felt it was necessary for him to travel with them and see to their safety. And possibly help in the manner of finding Bridget's father.

Bridget smiled and shook Selk Mar's hand. She waited for Kishou to finish his introduction before beginning hers. "Bridget. Just Bridget." she said, smiling for him. "And may I say, it's very kind of you to carry that poor boy." Bridget added. "When we do find lodgings, I'd be more than happy to provide backrubs. I've been told that my fingertips can work out the stubbornest of aches." It was an offer Bridget had given out many times, although this was probably the first that did not include the intention of theft. "Or, if you prefer, I can take a turn with him. The man who raised me was a sailor, I'm quite a bit stronger than I look." she added, her voice filled with pride.

Wein shook his head. He had just started carrying Denzel, so Selk didn't really need to take him yet, and he wasn't going to let Bridget carry him. Sure, part of it was chivalry, but part of it was just... "Nah, I'm good," replied Wein, trying not to let the stress in his legs show on his face. "I'm not about to let you burden yourself with Denzel." He adjusted the boy on his back. "It wouldn't be the valiant thing to do. I perfectly capable of carrying him myself." If he was going to be the heroic one, he couldn't be shifting his burdens off onto everyone else.
They walked for a bit longer, until Wein looked back over at Aaron. "Are we at the camping spot yet?"
