"Oh, um... good job." she replied to Vashnar. Not that she even remembered his name, he did look like the guy who had been following them though.
She hoped that Blueberry would now turn his attention to this other guy so that she could read in peace. This book made so little sense that it was hard enough to decipher without a savage distracting her. She sighed and set the book down. There was probably nothing of interest in there anyways. How sad that she had degraded herself to reading books written by lunatics. At least it wasn't as bad as that Crowley book, that made no sense and it WASN'T written by a lunatic. At least she didn't think this 'Sir Rayl' was a lunatic, maybe he was. Who knows, she had never heard of him.

Mel scowled at everyone seated around the table. All of this pointless and time wasting talk was making her go mad from boredom. They had to act! Talk was pointless in her mind at situations such as this.
Negotiation were all about power and intimidation, whomever held the cards held the power. At the moment this man had a ship and they needed passage. He held all the cards, but the trick was making him think otherwise.
Without batting a lash her knife was drawn and buried deep in the table a hairs breath away from the pirate's pudgy hand. Step one, startle them to jostle up their sense and let them know you won't tolerate the running around.
"You know..." she broke in after the silence absentmindedly running her finger around the rim of the cup she had deftly swiped from his grasp. "I did hear a guard of two speaking of some suspicious shipments recently, now...what was that ships name...Whistrunner? Friskrunner? Mistrunner?"
Mel laid back and took a swig of the rum smiling into her drink, or rather a stolen drink not that it even mattered. "I think that they would be very interested what they would find on such a vessel, after all...you have had some suspicious cargo in the past." Smirking she set down the cup with a loud clank "now I wonder...would you rather be paid for passage or be paying a fine aye?"
She pulled the red gem out of her pocket and tossed it up into the air the light causing it to gleam before she snatched it out of the air and back into her purse "I wonder what you will choose..."

Jasper enjoyed his pint at the bar and minded his own business. The tavern was far frm empty but the crowd remained quiet until dusk. After a while of trying to study the crowd, guessing the professions of those at the table and what they were like merely from their clothes, how wellkept they seemed and the subject of their conversations Jasper at last had enough. He got up and paid the barkeep fo the drinks.
Stretching his arms he started to walk back to where his trusty Wyvern, Elisel was being cared for. Intoxicated by the beer and overconfident from his recent arena victories the still inexperienced knight pushed the training that told his of the dangers of flying around tired and aimless in the dark and proceeded to do just that.
On autopilot he paid the Wyvernkeeper and thanked him for his sercives and flew out of the town at a steady pace, inland.

"Zero knew well-enough that Dee wasn't going to talk to him for the time being,so he carried on and gazed about the inn looking for anything of interest. There was some kind of drunken soldier or knight of some sort stumbling on his way out of the tavern, but Zero paid no mind. "Probably a local drunk or something." he thought.
Glancing around once more, he took note of the Knight from before walking back into the inn. He seemed quite delightful and in good spirits, claiming that he had won yet another arena fight. Zero simply calmly nodded to him in compliance as he sat down in the chair next to Dee and unsheathed his sword. He figured it would need a bit of a polishing before they set off on their journey, so Zero pulled out a small silk cloth from his pack, and lightly wiped the blade to a sheen.

The captain smiled, and ran his thin fingers over the knife embedded in the tabletop. "Do you take me for a pirate, a thief, darling?" Drake said with another grin. "Quite to the contrary. I am a legitimate merchant, travelling to and from some of the great ports. My entire stock and ship have already been looked over, not a thing hidden from the officials. Sorry, girl, but you'll have to do better than that to catch old Weiss off his guard." And then the gem was out and on the table. Joel, Jared, and Weiss all stared at it. The merchant bit his bottom lip, leaning backward so that his face was half-hidden by the shadows of his hat.
"That... Might change a thing or two, though..."
An hour of fierce debate, petty words and insults, and one precious gem later, Joel and Mel were making their way back to the Gray Lady. Joel was grinning a little; despite the fact that the man captaining the boat was someone he loathed, they were a little closer to their goal of getting to Etruria. In three days, the Mistdrifter, it's crew, and their little group would be making their way to the Western Isles, and, from there, to Etruria... And maybe Dee's uncle.

Dee finally put down her book as Joel and the others returned. "Hey Jumbo!" She called out to Joel, officially giving him his new nickname. She suddenly looked down, not wanting to have offended him. "So um... how did it go?" She asked a bit quieter.
She was fine with teasing Blueberry with his new nickname, she loved getting a reaction out of him. She wasn't sure how Joel would react though, and it somehow made her nervous. As if he would rage out and squash her like a bug.
Dee let out a small "Eep..." as she imagined this.

Mel frowned sulking a bit at the loss of her gem. He seemed to think she was not threatening him, in fact she was, all it would take was a moment that would end with a few things here and there on his ship and a few guards let known of it. Then he would know better than to cross her, but it seemed Joel did not like such underhanded tactics.
"Jumbo?" she asked raising a brow as a cynical expression overtook her features "he is the Man Mountain, Jumbo is too bland aye?" Walking over she took a seat and swiped a tankard of mead off of a nearby table laying back to relax

Zero hung his head a little, sighing in disbelief, only smirking once when he noticed the others had returned to the Inn. Joel had apparently received a new nickname as well, it wouldn't be long before Mel had gotten one. Mel also appeared a little bummed out...she probably witnessed something mortifying or disturbing. Zero glanced towards the group and spoke out in embarassment.
"Man mountain huh? Well at least your not....Blue....berry."
Zero could only bring himself to speak those words...that very nickname Dee had given him made him cringe with embarassment,as if his hair was obvious and noticable enough. He grumbled angrily a little and stood up,sheathed his sword and grabbed his pack, thinking the group was ready to move along already.

Joel smiled as he sat down at the table, pleased at the small shows of affection towards him. He balled his right hand into a fist, and then rubbed his knuckles slowly as he just looked at his companions for a minute. "So, I'm Jumbo or the Man Mountain, eh? Hmm. Fitting nicknames if there ever were any." Joel said with a chuckle. And then he grew slightly more serious, although a grin still tugged at his lips. "We have passage aboard a ship called the Mistdrifter, captained by Captain Weiss Drake, a man that I, well... Don't get along well with. In three days, we will set out to sea, and, with luck, will make it to the Western Isles quickly. If I might make suggestions, loading up on food and other supplies, preferably things you don't mind getting wet, during the next few days would be a good idea." The large man leaned back in his seat, and then once again gazed at each of his companions. "That's the plan. Don't cause too much chaos while we're here." he finished seriously, and then chuckled.

"No!" Dee said with enthusiasm, "Man Mountain is too much of a mouthful, nicknames are supposed to be easy to say, right Blueberry?" She asked the blue-haired man, oblivious to the fact 'Blueberry' was longer than 'Zero.'
"Oh right, things will get wet on the sea. Guess I'll have to leave these books behind." she noted to herself out loud. The books didn't seem very prospective, and they probably had a better selection in Etruria anyways. The only book she'd be able to take with her would be her mother's spellbook, enchanted to ward off water like other spellbooks. This would give Dee the chance to actually practice her spells rather than just reading all the time, so that was a bonus.

Mel tilted her head to the side staring at Zero silently for a few moments. "What is a blueberry?" she asked bluntly watching him cringe with interest. What could that word mean to make him act like such? She leaned forward on her hands the empty mug laying beside her as she watched him squirm.
"Don't worry Joel, I never get caught" Mel grumbled holding up the red gem from before with a slight grin. She has easily slipped it out of his pocket and into her own, he would never find out it was her, a busy city like this was populated with thieves, she would never be suspect.

Vashnar smiled as Dee called Zero "blueberry" and Joel "Jumbo", amused with their reactions and such. "Alright, I promise not to cause much trouble. It's not like I have a unhealthily habit" he told Joel as he noticed some men playing a dice game. "Now if you'll excuse me...." he told them as he made is way over to the men.
"Hello gentlemen, may I sit in for a round?" "Eh? Sure, the more people that play, the more people pay!" a man told Vashnar and they all burst into laughter, from the joke and the truth of the game. As Vashnar grabbed the dice and made his bet, some men started to bet what number will come out "come on snake eyes" or "lucky seven" where the most said as Vashnar told them eight from two fours and rolled the dice. "I don't believe it! you got it!" one man shouted as others groaned and payed up. "another round anyone?" "fine, but this time you won't be so lucky.........."

Zero simply sighed in disgust as he glared in Dee's direction, squinting his eyes in displeasure as he spoke out to her once more.
"I look nothing like a blueberry Dee, if you are refering to my hair color that is,My hair is light blue not dark blue. I would appreciate it if you called me "Zero" It's the only nickname I've stuck with for a long time in my life. It speaks pride of my skills as a swordsman and my record of having never lost a spar before!"
Zero then glanced casually towards Mel's direction and pondering just why she was looking at him like that, slowly then craning his neck and noticing the Knight playing some kind of game with money. The only real thing that had caught his interest was Joel who had returned and mentioned that they were going to set sail. Zero had never been out at sea before, nor on a ship, but he had heard from older men in his village about their travels and experiences on them, It certainly piqued his interest and he looked towards the large man.
"Are we really going on a ship out to sea? I mean I've only heard about ships in stories told in my village, some of the elders have traveled quite a bit you know.So what are they like? I'm wondering what it's like being out at sea!"

Joel smiled at the group, already getting used to the near-constant bickering. "I don't know, I like Blueberry. Much better than Zero, in my opinion." he said with another short laugh. "And yes, we will be going aboard a ship out to sea. After all, why would I lie about that sort of thing? There's no reason." After that, Joel stood up, stretching his arms up and behind his head. "All right, I'm going to go take a nap. See you all tonight."
-/Three Days Later\-
The sound of men grunting, swearing, and all in all being noisy and disruptive to the otherwise quiet morning was overpowering, and quite frankly gave Joel a headache. His arms were folded in front of him, and he constantly looked down at Dee to make sure she was okay. It was currently about twenty minutes until dawn's first light, and already Weedy's crew was hard at work finishing preparations for the fast-approaching trip. The little group stood at the end of the dock, surveying the sailors until they were given the go-ahead by Captain Drake. "Everyone have everything they need?" Joel boomed, making himself heard over the noise. The pacifist had a bag slung over his shoulder (his axe was moved to become a makeshift belt, hanging at his right side), filled with dried foods and a other supplies they might need.

"I'm set, and ready to go!" Vashnar told everyone when Joel asked if they were ready. The game with the men at the inn three days ago earned him a decent amount of money (and a reason why Vashnar was ready to leave at once), and with it bought himself supplies for the trip; jerky, apples, bread, cheese, some more jerky, carrots, more cheese and a bit more of jerky (the man selling the jerky was happy with Vashnar's liking to his jerky which had herbs and exotic spices from the Western Isles sprinkled onto it). He still had the book that Dee gave him, titled The Magnificent Adventures of Crowley and since that this is a sea voyage, he decided now is a good time to read it. With nothing but water all around them, he needed Something to keep himself from being bored.
