Mel looked around quietly sizing up the vessel and what was where. It was rather well stocked with not much in the way of luxuries on board but, in the captains quarters she knew there would be something of interest. Her fingers twitched about the thoughts of what she would find there and her attention was soon turned to Vashnar's purse, well her purse soon enough. She stared at it for only a moment before averting her eyes elsewhere thinking of that to do on the vessel. She has never been on a ship before, and she had no idea what to do to pass the time.
"Soon enough I will be..." she mumbled in reply to Joel's inquiry slipping over to Vash and picking his purse cleanly. Holding apple up to her lips she took a bite as she moved over to Joel's side and took a seat on a barrel. It was coin fair enough though it was not fair coin how the knight had gotten it anyways, where did he go anyways. She glanced around, he seemed to have disappeared into the woodwork, ironic how at the same time there was a random pile of armor in a corner.

"So... tired..." Dee mumbled lazily, eyelids half-shut. "Did we have to get up so early, Jumbo?" Her arms drooped down in front of her. The sun wasn't even out yet, so she hoped to get more sleep when they had left. She already got rid of the books she was previously reading, not one useful bit of information in them.
All she had with her now was her magic book and some fruit for the trip. Her backpack was very light, thanks to the low amount she was carrying. Her ruffled hair was even more ruffled than usual. "We leaving yet...?"

Zero started to gather his possessions for the trip as he was getting ready to board the ship with the others, he gathered his sword and sheath, alongside his pack of food to tide him over on the trip he managed to buy some nice goods an necessities for his trip and he remembered to bring along his hunting knife as well. He never used this knife in combat,it just didn't suit him well, but he kept it for cutting fruit and meat into chunks to eat. Thankfully he also carried a spare set of clothing with him from his home village, Zero was clearly prepared and ready to take on his journey.
"Finally! I've been waiting for this moment for days too, not to be getting to excited but I've never been out at sea before but many of my village elders have told stories about it, they say it can be pretty cold and brutal at times. If anything, I can't wait to tell my father about this one day, it would certainly make him proud that I followed in his footsteps."

"Looks like someone isn't used to boats. Doesn't surprise me at all Blueberry, you were raised on the plains" Vashnar told Zero as he stumbled on the deck, as well as calling him the name Dee gave him. " as Vashnar walked on deck and made his way over to a cozy spot, he sat down and checked through all his supplies again. "Let's see... Jerky: check. Bread: check. Fruits: check. Vegetables: check. Book: check. Polish: check. Rag for polishing: check. Vulnerary: check. Money: missing?" Vashnar then frantically searched for the bag, only to find it gone and going to his instinct: Mel. waiting for her to get on board, Vashnar sat cross-legged with a frown on his face as he wondered what her reaction would be.

The giant of a man rolled his shoulders, ignoring Mel and Armor for the moment. "I'm afraid so, little one." Joel said, yawning wide as he did. "We wouldn't want the captain to leave without us, right?"
Almost as if on cue, the form of Captain Weiss Drake appeared on the back of the ship, facing them. "All right! Any passengers there may be can now board the ship!" the captain barked, and then turned, walking back out of their current line of site back near the docks. Joel leaned down, lifting Dee up from the waist, hoisting the young girl up upon his shoulder as he shuffled forward. "All right, please remember; we'll be on this ship for a good couple weeks. Everyone must remain on their best behavior at all times. No distracting the sailors from their duties, no sparring withthe sailors, and no stealing from the sailors." Joel said in a slight monotone, mimicking what Weedy had told him three days ago.
As Joel walked up the gangplank, he bit his lower lip gently. He disliked being disconnected with the ground, something which he avoided most of the time. The fact that Weedy was standing at the top, wearing a smug grin, and whispered to Joel that he was 'entering his world now' as he boarded the Mistdrifter.

Mel sighed and swiveled around on the wooden barrel she had perched herself on and stared at the water as they began to board. It was odd...the sea...she had heard of it whilst she had traveled but this was the first time she had seen it. She had to admit it was different then she had pictured it. People would speak of it as vast and humbling but...it was just a big lake. Some people she could never understand the bending of reality to such an extent though most people seemed to do so.
Brooding over this mystery she slid down to the ground and landed lightly starting to make her own way up the gangplank and onto the ship listening to Joel's warnings idly. "What counts as best behavior? As well as the captain is not a simple sailor no? So I can steal from him? Or kill that hat of his? It needs a good trimming, can't see how it would hold up to a storm..."
In her nervousness of getting onto a foreign vessel she continued to babble aimlessly leaping up and wrapping her arms around Joel's neck to keep up and away from the deck not sure of what would happen if her feet touched 'unsolid ground.' It was a childish fear, to be afraid of a boat, and yet the fear of the unknown was weighing her down much more then what others would think. Instantly Mel was filled with a venomous jealousy of Dee, the little shrimp was up nice and high safe from the stupid ship. Who's idea was it to travel by one anyway? She would have to make him pay dearly later

Being lifted onto Jumbo's shoulder was surprising once again, but Dee was slowly starting to get used to it. It wasn't like she could actually do anything to stop him, Jumbo was many times bigger than her.
Dee hadn't ever seen the sea before, but it was much too early for her to enjoy it. In a few hours, she was sure that she'd be running up and down the ship though.
Them boarding the gently swaying boat just made Dee even more tired. [white]"I dunno if I can... keep wake..."[/white] Dee mumbled, slowly closing her eyes and resting her head on Jumbo's.

"C'mon Gwen." Roland urged the soldier woman. What rotten luck, for all of that chaos to go down just as they were to enter Bern. It would be impossible to get in now, what with all the screaming and yelling and such over the escaped convict. He lost Gabriel in all the confusion too, it was a depressing sort of thing but not one without a bright side. Almost as if a giant bag of karma crashed in front of him to repay for all the downsides of this trip, he found what he was searching for. THEY found what they were searching for, it was incredible and just about time to get a lucky break what with all the chaos that drowned them.
It was time to be boarding the ship, which according to his leads, was headed to the Western isles and then they can take a ship from their to Etruria where they can confirm if their suspicions was or was not unfounded. He hoped they were, it would be so much easier to follow up something that's true then grasp around for evidence for it to be false. It was almost funny, it was the two Etrurian natives that were doing all the legwork for Lycia. It would be weird to be back in his home country, after defecting, but chances were likely they wouldn't even notice or know. It wasn't as if Kraft had a manifest of all the soldiers who left, all he knew was a large regiment left with Richter and another large regiment was killed by Richter. As far as Kraft knew, him and Gwen were just survivors of that battle.
Boarding the, well frankly wobbly and shoddy ship, he groaned. It felt like the last time he did anything was also on a ship, it was like all he did was ride ships. Though he doubted this one would involve a dragon, and wouldn't be quite so informational. He did feel bad for Gwen though, she got seasick easily. Before leaving town he made a mind to buy some herbs so he could make a tea to settle her stomach while they rode on this ship for... well weeks.
He also made sure to keep a load of oranges and lemons on hand to clean his outfit for when she vomited on him. "This is it, we're headed to the Western Isles and then Etruria. Will you be okay Guinevere?" He turned his head and spoke to the armored woman accompanying him. It was good she was still around, he got lonely when he lost Gabriel.
He took quick stock of his surroundings and say a somewhat mish-mosh of people he didn't know. Well obviously, he wouldn't know them, but they stood out more then others. Especially the mammoth of a man with dark tanned skin. He'd have to get to know them eventually if he was going to spend so much time on a ship with them, still the introductions could wait just a little bit. He needed to make sure Gwen was okay, he didn't want to have to return home all alone.

The moment Zero had set his first step onto the ship's gangplank Zero immediately felt slightly dizzy and off balance as he followed behind the rest of the group nervously. This was a whole new experience to the young Sacaen man as he gripped tightly onto the pack he carried with him. Why was this thing bobbing up and down so much? It made him feel very unsettled and sick to his stomach. Looking about the area he saw a few grizzly and muscular looking men around the deck, they all seemed to be eye'ing Zero every once in a while.
"Hey Joel,is there any reason my stomach is feeling funny all of a sudden? The moment I stepped on here I felt dizzy and almost lost my balance!"

Guinevere didn't even look up at Roland as she shrugged. "Probably won't be..." Boats. Why did it have to be boats. So much for never riding on another one again. She just wanted to be somewhere where she would be able to be sick in peace. Stupid boats. She groaned. It had been a rough couple of days. First, she hadn't found Rayl. Second, she got separated from Gabriel and everyone else. At least Roland was still around. If she had been alone, she probably would be in trouble right now. But did they really have to go on a boat again? They're so... ugh. She picked a spot on the deck next to one of the sides and sat down there, just waiting until er lunch decided to reappear.

"I used to get seasick myself, try to stay in the middle of the boat. I brought some stuff to make a tea this old woman I traveled with used to make. It helps ease the stomach." He patted a small sack of items he was bringing with him, on such a long trip one would need to be prepared. Prepared he would be. Come dragons, vomit or drunken pirates. Of course, preperation costed money and now there was a sad empty spot in his heart his wallet used to fill. With a sigh he patted his fancily dressed chest. "Alas poor gold, it wasn't meant to be. Wait for me my darling, I'll see you again one day." The overdramatic mercenary spoke as if reciting a play.
The group he was with shattered, no military, no Rayl, no Gabe. Just him and her, and now he wasn't getting paid. That was easily the worst bit, how was he supposed to be a greedy miser when he was so poor? Gwen went off to prepare herself for the worst trip of her life part two: vomit harder. How crushed she would be when she learned it's actually a trilogy.
Now wasn't the time though, no, now was the time for awkward introductions. There was gold to be made on this trip he was sure of it, there was gold to be made anywhere for those of discerning eyes and not discerning tastes, luckily he had both. First stop, the big guy who could probably break Roland in half, be a good idea to atleast be friendly with him. Avoid snapping spines, you see. It was a one two punch of business sensibility, and cowardly self-preservation. It all befitted a weaselly man like Roland.
"Ah, good to be on the sea." He said, nonchalantly as he strode up. "I suppose we'll be having to see a lot of each other the next few days. I'm Roland Hawkthorne."

Joel smiled a little as he felt Dee rest her head on his own, and Mel hang onto him. He didn't mind, he could probably carry Zero as well. Maybe Armor, as long as he wasn't wearing all that heavy metal. "Well, Zero, I'd say you haven't found your sea legs yet!" the giant said, chuckling. And then he stumbled, grabbing onto the railing. "And, apparently, neither have I. Ah well, I doubt it'll take us too long to get used to it." The Nabataean crossed his arms, looking back over at... Other ships. Right. Not at sea yet. He'd been on boats once or twice before during his travelling, and, while not being the best part of his wandering, or very enjoyable in any way, shape, or form, riding a boat wasn't that bad. His only problem with this boat ride in particular was the captain...
Joel turned his head, only to find his vision blocked by the sleeping pupil. So he turns to face the man who had talked to him, and, unsurprisingly, found someone shorter than himself. "Aye, indeed. Pleased to meet you, Roland, my name's Joel, and the sleepy one is Dee." He extended his hand to shake this Roland man's hand.

Mel hung off of Joel and watched the deck closely the it swaying from side to side as she did as well. It in some ways was comforting like the way she had once seen a baby being held by his mother being rocked softly. Though it painted a nice pretty scene in one's mind it was far from that soft feeling. She felt slightly sick watching it, the swaying making her head spin circles around her her vision splitting into twos and then threes. Was this feeling sick She did not know having never felt like this before.
Her eyes moved to Zero seeing what the plainsmen would be like on the vessel. He looked a little dizzy but nothing more, if he was almost fine why was she like this? Shutting her eyes as well as tightening the grip on Joel's shoulders the started to lower herself down to the deck. Her arms shook slightly from the tension in her mind, new things were hard to adjust to. Though she could not take the time to complain about that with all of the new things of the past few years she had to experience. Thing should have been simpler, she should have traveled on foot!
The Girl's mind was so full of second thoughts she did not notice that her feet had reached the wooden boards of the deck and she was standing her arms stretched up over her head to keep her grip on Joel. If the ship sunk he would be the last to sink, he was the tallest right? The 'sick' feeling was gone with her distraction and the many thoughts of emergency plans if the ship was taken into the water depths of the ocean. Dead bodies would float right? So she could just kill someone and use it to float to safety. Did she even know how to swim?
With a slight sigh she walked a few steps having now let go of the Man Mountain with no need for his support, she was fine now. The soft swaying she easily adjusted to though she assumed it would be worse once they were actually out at sea.
Though once the strangers boarded the vessel her attention was diverted from her strange musings. Both looked like they were warriors or some form. Though the woman did not look so battle hardened with a green tint like that to her face, though she most probably looked like that moments before as well. Though her companion looked rather well dressed and carried himself in a way that said he was not a stranger to luxury. Immediately she perked up looking him over, he did not seem to have much on him for all he was dressed much to her disappointment.
Walking back over to Joel she stared out from behind him at the odd man. He was talking to himself a moment before, was that not a sign of a sickness of the mind? It was impossible to say that such a thought did not irk her slightly and she stared at him like some mystical creature she had never seen before, was this man mad?

As Vashnar watched everyone else get on board (and a stranger who seems a little wack in the head), Vashnar decided to forget about Mel taking his money and just let it go. Reaching into his bag, Vashnar pulled out The Magnificent Adventures of Crowley and opened the book to the first page, soon becoming engrossed in the book and not noticing when a sailor dropped a bucket on his foot. "Oy! you! get up, I need to put a barrel where yeh sitting!" the man scolded him, as well as showing him his black and yellow teeth "I'm sorry, I didn't know." Vashnar told the man before going over to everyone else and sitting down, a smile breaking across his face at how Joel looked like a father with Dee asleep on his shoulder and Mel clinging to him. Like a father.... Vashnar thought as he then looked down at the book in his lap with a frown. Just like Goff, and he seems so carefree like him. Vashnar thought before tears started to go down his face as he softly spoke one word: "Father".

Taking the hand and shaking firmly, the mercenary grinned. "Ah, a pleasure to meet you then Joel." he nodded his head, forgoing the extravagant bows. This looked like a man of simple tastes, and would find the over elaborate actions that curried favor with nobles more tiring then respectful. Perhaps outside of the initial bombardment of flattery, considering that someone considers him important enough to garner such a grandiose introduction. He looked at the shifty young girl, the sleeping child and the armored man. Not to mention the lad with hair as blue as a cloudless sky. Not exactly his first choice for a traveling group, but he was sure they all had their talents. Be it talking, fighting, or taking up space. The way everyone clung to this Joel seemed to imply they knew him, and respected him, which made Roland guess he may be the leader of this small group of mish-mashed youths. He was easily the oldest, and most intimidating looking, so it wasn't much of a stretch.
"She's not up to talking right now, still needs her sea legs you see, but the green lady over there staring into the sea with such a face is my friend Guinevere." Green in both armor and complexion, he nodded his head over in the direction the soldier was sitting. For the most part, many of the passengers on this ship looked a touch unsettled, including the big man himself. Hrm, he wouldn't say ship travel was a common occurence, but it surprised him so many people weren't accustomed to it.
