Regardless of whatever the sites may say, it is illegal to download a rom.
24 hour rule? Bullshit. Own the original cartridge? Bullshit.
If YOU make the ROM it is legal, because you are allowed to MAKE a backup of anything you own. But not download someone elses.

And as we all know, if it's illegal, it's bound to be fun.

I wonder what will happen when the gaming industry actually "takes over the world"(not literally, but you get my point), and having a ROM becomes a serious enough crime for the police to actually go from house to house and look at everyone's PCs...
Doubt it will happen. So...unless you are REALLY unlucky, you won't get into trouble.
EDIT: Oh, and by the way, I'm already playing Valkyrie Profile, and I like it. A bit slow paced at the beggining, and the conversations(with actual voices) take quite a bit of time(like 10 seconds between each voice file).
Also, I don't know if I should already start spending this "CP" on my characters, and WHAT should I spend them in. I just got to the first "dungeon", so to say(Party is Lenneth, Freya, Arngrim and Jelanda).
Some help here, Lumino?(or anyone who played the game)

'sides, who's really gonna care if you're downloading obscure titles? I mean, it's not like you're downloading TP or some other game that's actively available. The only person you're hurting is those ebay/amazon people that jack up video game prices to make us bleed.
I'm still mad... I used to have copies of FFVII and Legend of Mana. I traded both in, when they were $20 games... now, I'd have to pay $60 plus to get either back...

the CP depends on the character. Arngrim can't be sent to Valhalla, so you shouldn't start building his attributes (I think that's what they're called) yet. People like Arngrim and Lenneth need STR and DME, so try to increase that first. Jelanda needs MAG and INT (this really should be a give-in). Notice how Freya's eating up anything that cross your path? Yeah, she's temporary.
And a piece of advice: keep nearly every "artifact." 9/10 it's worth it. Particularly the Emerald Bracelet.
and the beginning is really slow. It's even more annoying after you've played the game a few times.
And if you want the "Good" ending, look at a Guide. It's pretty much impossible to get without one. You've gotta send certain people to Valhalla, by certain times. You've also got to have exact stats, complete exact quests, visit exact locales... It's a pain in the butt.

Will do then. And yeah, I did notice that Freya is one of those "temporary-character-that-kicks-ass" characters. A lot of RPGs have them. Although most also have them be even more overpowered than this. Remember Lunar - Silver Star Story? >_>
And, what about Jelanda's DME? Isn't that a character's HP? She has around 300 only. Also, should I get skills like First Aid(Recover HP after being attacked) or the "Undead/Flying/Etc" Skills("Have the knowledge of the Undead")?

Certain skills give bonuses to your stats. Survival is a BIG one for, like everything. Overall, First Aid is usefull in the beginning but I forgot about it quickly.
Level up Arngrim, he is easily the second strongest character in the game (Aside from Valkyrie).
To help in getting the best endings, I will list four things you MUST do in Chapter 4. Not earlier, not later.
I tried to make then as Spoiler free as possible, but there might be a LITTLE in there.
1. Visit Weeping Lilly Meadow. 2. Visit the castle of Brahms, the king of the undead. Talk with him but do NOT fight him. 3. Visit Gerabellum and meet Lucian 4. Recruit Lorenta and meet Lezard Valeth. 5. De-equip the Nibelungen Ring in Chapter Four, never equip it again. (Optional, but helps.)
With these, all you have to do after that is recruit 2 certain characters in chapter 5 and send a certain one of them to Valhalla by the end of the chapter. I won't tell you who, but you will know when you do it.
Just keep following the game as normal, and eventually you will work your way into one of the COOLEST endings ever. It's not so much an ending as it is an alternate story path. A freaking badass one at that. It's closer to the TRUE ending then the "B" ending could ever hope to be.
Note: You cannot get the "A" ending on Easy mode.

I'm playing on Normal, anyway. And I'm using a guide. I check out the items in the dungeon, and am going to check what to do to get the endings, but that's as far as I will do. I want to enjoy the game on my own. I might do use it on it's entirety on a second playthrough, if I don't get ending A.
Also, what are the little multicolor balls that drop sometimes when you kill a monster? Up until now, they have all gone inside Lenneth(I do know what the Magic Gems do, though. Got 3 or 4 so far. Exp increases at the end of the battle).
Also, what exactly makes the Magic Gems drop? The attacks when you get to 100 hit(Nibelung Valesti, Ether Strike, Final Blast and Jelanda's upgraded spell)?

Heh, those I call Action Orbs. Basicly, notice that when Jelanda casts a spell, or when somebody uses there super, there are those red bars under their names. These bars go away slowly, and they cannot preform any action that would USE that bar till it is fully replenished. Fighters can still attack when their bar is recovering, but mages cannot cast spells. Some spells have longer delays, and Uber Magics as well as supers have larger delays. The Action Orbs knock off a bar for each one of them you absorb. You cannot control who they go to.
You can make then drop by juggling the monsters. Some characters have attacks that make them drop items more often (Like Arngrim's down slash. If the enemy is on the ground when he uses this, they usually drop something.). Other then that, it is just luck. Magic alone will rarely make them drop anything.

And what about Magic Gems? Are those dropped randomly as well, or when you use the final attacks?
Also...Arngrim's down slash? What do you mean? Does it have something to do with the weapon's stats(that whole "O->X->X" thing?)?

Yes yes sorry. All character (Cept for mages) have three optional "attacks". Valkyrie's for example, are a Down slash, a slide and an upwards slash.
Arngrim's are a punch, down slash and dual handed round house.
If the weapon they are using does not allow all three attacks, you can change which attacks you will use.
They O-X-X thing represents how many attacks that weapon will allow, in that example it is only one.

So I was right, after all. Still, you didn't mention the Magic Gems. Are they random?

they're based on a number of hits ratio, along with how well you can juggle. Certain characters can cause HUGE amounts of gems to fall...
And, Lumino, Arngrim's not that powerful. He's awesome, and I use him every time, but he's not as good as certain other Valkyrie-Lovers (not Valeth).

Nobody really cares about roms and such. If they really wanted to crack down on it, it wouldn't be that hard. They're more likely to go after the sites, rather than the thousands who downloaded from the sites.

Which is why I don't worry about it much.
And the special skill that Lenneth uses when with the weapon borrowed from Freya kicks MAJOR ass. It's the same one from the intro, and I guess it's also her strongest one(or one of the strongest). Damage output wasn't THAT much better than the one with the Antler Sword, but I bet it's because of her being only level 3. >_>
