I can understand that. I've used every non-promoted unit, just to see the variety offered. The fighters aren't really that great in this game. Bartre's humourous, and fairly dangerous, but not really a great addition. Dorcas... well, he's not that great. I've never been a fan of pre-promotes, though I don't know why... I have used Pent and Louise, but that's about it.
My reason for Fiora. Enough defense and strength to make her decent. Florina's just a little too fragile. Farina's good, but she costs too much... Besides, Fiora supports with Eliwood, Sain, and Kent, what more do you need in a unit?

Nobody is saying anything on florina, so it's pretty much unanimous.
Bartre is generally better than geitz. Geitz has more speed and better bow level. Bartre has everything else higher than him.
Although, thats in anything but HHM. HHM training bartre is just a chore. He joins early yes, but his low three speed base allows the enemies to double him with their increased speed. He's pretty much chop liver in HHM. While Geitz gets HHM bonuses, and is easily a good filler for the later half of the game.

It seems that HHM does change who's the best... Most of the units that get the bonus are going to beat out those that don't.... alright, since there seems to be little debate on Peg Knights or Warriors, we move on...
To mages...
hmm... I honestly have little opinion. Nino's awesome, but comes too late to be overly useful. Pent's decent, but you have to use Louise, who sucks. Erk is left to the mercy of the RNG, and that can easily get you screwed over...

No opinion here either. But Erk was VERY useful the first few chapters you get him.

Pent. Erk is ok, but I find him lacking too much from Pent. One time, I actually had a 20/20 Erk that had the slightly worse (mostly simmilar) stats as an unused pent, but 10 more speed. I now decided to ditch him, wastes a valuable unit slot anyway. But that's personal experience, if we need to step this up a notch, I can post stats and stuff, but for now, I simply don't care.
Pent requires no training, and already starts out great with an A in staffs and magic. And he has the physic staff, very useful.
And yes, erk is useful first few chapters, but then his usefulness deteriorates when you get better units like Lucius and Canas.

Pent doesn't require Louise to be useable. Louise does require Pent, I'll give you that.

Matthais must have everybody use their supports though.

Of course, Pent is the better one of the two, but is leveling him really that worth it? You get him late in game, and level 10 only. Prepromoted. Yes, he does come with good items and A in both skills, but would you sacrifice Canas, Lucius, or Raven for him? I doubt it.

If you want to have a sage, you'd pretty much have to sacrifice someone.

He's already level 6 promoted when you get him. He takes no leveling. You do know that a level 6 prepromote, gets the same ammount of exp as a level 6 promoted unit. You're exaterating way too much.

Well, perhaps. But I remember him not being that good. And I even used him for a few chapters, thinking he looked cool for being a mage. But I don't remember him being that good.
As a second note, my keyboard has just fucked up. All the keys have been swapped around. I hate when that happens, and I still don't know why it happens. Not the letters, but the Shift and Alt commands of the numbers above them, and to their right.

Personal Experience means nothing.
And I don't see how you can say he's not good. It's not like he starts out bad, and gets good. He starts out good, and gets better.

But would you really sacrifice one of your other characters for him? Like Raven, or Canas?

I don't see how Raven and Pent should be competing with each other, they are totally different and yes, Pent is better then Canas.

I said Raven because he's a good character. And I will have to say that I disagree with Pent being better than Canas.
