Rayl at this point simply lost interest, an odd thing to say the least, as he went back and picked up his sword and shield," Well then, it is best for me to depart now, as I am no longer commander. Continue your duties, I will head out the other way and rendevous with you all once you circle around the rest of the territories. We will then meet at Araphen in a hope to convince them despite their previous message."
With this, he saddled back up and onto Elibe, and continued his ride out, giving Merio a stern look," Stay and protect your brother, if you arn't around, who knows what stream he'll drown in on the way." with this he continued his ride down the hill and down the world, as the others slowly dissolved from view. He had a mission to perform...

"As I said, the only records we have of the war are not very reliable, and even if they were, there is little to no detail in them. I've seen the scriptures once, and if my memory doesn't fail me, they read: 'Once, dragons and men coexisted. They shared a peace forged in wisdom, a peace that lasted many generations. All that was lost when dragons disrupted this balance in a sudden onslaught. Man fought dragon in a savage war that shook the foundations of their world. This war was called The Scouring. Defeated and humbled, dragons vanished from the realm. In time, man rebuilt and spread his dominion across the land and on to the islands beyond.' OoC: www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvance/file/468480/40524Go to the "Game Overview" section and read the part that says "Story". "Then it goes on to tell of the eight legendary warriors and the nine weapons forged for them, and what all of them did after the war. But that's as far as it goes. I would like to know the point of view of the dragons." "Hey Yaen, I'll catch up with you later," Kelvin said heading off into the camp. After a moment, he caught up with Chelsea. "Need any help looking for Karina?" He asked, still rejoicing inside.

Chelsea looked over as she saw Kelvin hurrying over. "That would be a great help, if you wouldn't mind Sir Kelvin." She knew Kelvin was taller than her and could probably more easily find her. She walked along quietly, softly humming a tune her mother had often sung. She was used to it she barely even registered when she started to do it anymore.

Kelvin followed along quietly thinking to himself. Today had been a strange day indeed. Kelvin scanned the camp looking for Karina or her pegasus. He couldn't see her anywhere, but there was still a chance that she was around. "I don't see her. She must have gone ahead already."

Mikar struggled to move on. He had been traveling for days now. He was out of food, out of water, and In the middle of nowhere with no sense of direction. Mikar stumbled and nearly fell down. He was exhausted and dehydrated. He was also hallucinating. Earlier he saw a talking lizard, a flying tree, and just a minute ago a dragon. He thought he was going crazy, and eventually he thought he was going to fall over and rot. He was over 60 years old, and a pirate traveling by land. He was way over his head and to make it worse he was starting to have minor amnesia.
Mikar slugged forward as he saw a camp of some sort. He knew it was fake. And even if it was real, he wasn't gonna believe it. He had been fooled by the talking tree and flying lizard. Or.. wait was it the other way around. Mikar climbed up a hill as he reached the "camp". There were people everywhere. Mikar had faced the facts. He had gone completely insane. Finally, he gave up and passed out on the ground.

Aevian had been lost in the commotion. the dragon was huge, and it sparked terror into her, just the sight...especially since she recognized it from five years ago. She had stayed back for the mean time, trying to keep calm, near Wyatt, and did nothing to intrude on them whn Rayl had taken to speaking with the beast. Seeing Rayl begin to leave...again... Aevian gave a decisive nod, and then turned to look for Wyatt, but she was no longer near him at this point, she had scattered away in fear of Aerious.
She looked around before leaving, as if trying to find him, but she could not see him among the bluster of people, so she turned, and ran after Rayl, who already had a considerable lead.

Feeling like he should probaby make some distance from the unwelcomed fire breathing guest for the time being, Yaen turned his back on the crowd, and began to wander off. however, just as he reached the border of the camp, he stumbled over something large and fleshy. "Oof!" Falling over, he let out a groan. "What did I trip on?" he wondered, rolling over into a sitting position. Some old man laying on the ground...wait... "...By Father Sky!" He exclaimed, rolling back onto his knees. "Hold on a minute." he said, hastily pulling out his water skin. Prying the old mans mouth open, he uncorked the skin and poured some water into the old pirates mouth.

Aerious arched an eyebrow at Saffra. "While your elder, I am nowhere near old enough to be your 'grandfather', if you must use the human term. If my guess is correct, you are only a century or two younger. Though that makes all the difference in view considering what happened in those centuries."
As Gabriel finished his recounting, Aerious shook his head. "The human legend, always speaking of how it is our fault, disgusting. The truth of this history is much more complicated then you can imagine."
He leaned back, as if an old man recounting a yarn from his youth. "The start of the war...nobody is sure exactly what started the Scouring. Perhaps humanity encroching on dragons too much, or some slight or any number of reasons. Whatever the reason was, the war was brutal and, unfortunately, a stalemate. While every dragon could kill scores of humans, the humans were able to outlast. A newborn dragon takes around three hundred years to mature, a newborn human takes barely a decade and a half. Most of you are approaching the pinnacle of your power, in such a short time. In this way, humans began to take the advantage by sheer numbers. However, we dragons are not without our own weapons, and soon the tide was turned again, as our warriors rose up to fill the ranks of the fallen."
He paced for a moment, as if remembering the story himself. "And then, eight audacious humans, the strongest your species had to offer, stepped forward with weapons of fearsome power. The weapons were created with a magic that nulified many of ours, allowing them to stand against us. However..."
He glanced around those still present. "The power contained withing them was too great, and in one clash between these mortals and the strongest dragons, the release of power from these 'Sacred Weapons' altered the very fabric of reality. This is the reality of the Endless Winter, the phenomenon that caused the rules of nature to rewrite themselves. In this 'new world' that was created, dragons could no longer maintain their true form easily, and we were forced to take on the guise of humans, while sealing away the majority of our power. So weakened, the humans decimated our forces, driving us to the brink of extinction."
He seemed to be pressing a glare into their minds. "When we cannot succeed, change the rules. It sounds like a human solution to me."

"So, it was due to the sacred weapons that the dragons were forced to become human...?" Gabriel thought out loud.
"Thinking it through, that does seem to be the only logical way for humans to suddenly defeat an entire race of dragons. After all, a lance, no matter how durable or sharp, is still only a lance. Some strong weapons alone wouldn't have been enough."
"Answer me this, if you will, Sir Aerious" he began, but wasn't really sure what to ask. He pondered for a few seconds, before realizing what he wanted to ask. "I understand why you hate the human race as a whole. But still, as you said, we reach the pinnacle of our strength very early in our lives. Unlike dragons, we are born, spend fifteen to twenty years gaining knowledge and are suddenly released unto the world at the height of our power. By the time most men get to that point, their knowledge simply isn't vast enough for them to understand the consequences of their actions" he said, thinking of his father. Richard, Gabriel's father, had become a sage at the age of 14, and had taken part in many wars and fights against bandits. For all Gabriel knew, Richard had killed hundreds by the time he was of Gabriel's age.
"Dragons have around three hundred years before they mature, as you said. That is more than fifteen times the time we have" he stopped, thinking back to his rather short training with Lady Lucy. "Would it be too much to ask for the dragons to guide us? To aid us? The humans that you rightfully hate are no longer in this world, and it has been that way for nearly a thousand years now. The weapons have been lost in time as well, and no blacksmith in Elibe is skilled enough to even attempt to make another such thing"
Would it be that simple to bring back peace between dragons and men? He knew it wasn't, but perhaps, just perhaps, he could get the dragon to reconsider everything once more.

Mikar gasped as water flowed into his body. It was an unbelievable feeling he couldn't describe. Mikar choked for a second and than sat up, out of breath. "Thank you... me boy" Mikar said still coughing. "I don't think I'd be alive if it weren't for you." Mikar drank some more as he contemplated on what just happened. "I owe you my life for what ye did." Mikar rubbed his head, and noticed he had many burns from being out in the sun. He winced and wiped his brow. He was just happy to be alive.

Yaen teetered back into a sitting position, this time crossing his legs Sacaen style. "Don't need to thank me. I wasn't far off from being you only just last night, then I stumbled across this camp. Consider this my way of repaying the Higher Powers." he replied.

Saffra felt a touch embarrassed. She didn't know that Aerious was as young as that. It made sense though, with how he retained a young composure. Still, she didn't let it get to her, as she stood and listened, hugging herself, and biting her lip nervously.
She had no idea that weapons, of all things, could do that much damage on a global existence. These sacred weapons...were frightening...Saffra sat through the whole story, a bit angered, and a bit uneasy. Her eyes lowered, and with a single hand, she tugged on a long braid that ran down her cheek, and gave it a tug, before looking back to Gabriel.
"I'm not sure, Gabriel, many humans still think us things from a children's story, meant to scare them...such early childhood stories can make a man to what he is at maturity."
Saffra sighed and shrugged her shoulder, and began to pace back and forth, eying the army nearby, as they went about their business, still seeing eyes idly checking them to make sure that everything was still safe. Saffra checked around for a moment, and then settled down, stopping her pacing, and rested her eyes on the two.

Mikar shrugged, "Either way, ye saved my life." Mikar looked at the morning sky. "By the by, where am I?" Mikar asked, as he had no idea where he had gone. He was sure of one thing. He was out of Sacae. Mikar looked at the man who had just saved his life. Mikar noticed he was a Sacaen not only by the way he had been dressed or his look, but by the way he had been sitting. He had seen it while he had been in Sacae. Frankly, he had been tired of Sacae, but he still respected the people. "Your Sacaen aren't you."

"You are somewhere in Lycia. I'm afraid thats all I know." Yaen replied, holding out his hand to take his water skin back. The man was obviously of the 'Civilised' countries lower class, he could tell by his manner of speech. It sort of reminded him of a pirate girl he once knew. "Yes, I am Sacaen." he replied. "And, pardon my asking, but are you a sailor of sorts?" he asked.
