Kelvin was surprised to hear another knock from the door. Who the heck was it this time? How many strangers were his parents hiding here? Kelvin walked over to the door, and pulled it open. A grungy looking archer stood in the door, looking rather filthy but exhausted. Kelvin didn't exactly know what to say at first. Should he slam the door in this man's face or welcome him in? Finally he spoke up, "Can I help you?" He said, sounding concerned.

Saffra, now wingless, walked around aimlessly once she was outside the castle. The meeting went so-so, she guessed. it was a bit bothersome that the men even bothered to raise their arms against her, especially since she had warned them already that she was a dragon...so what was the point? either way, the man seemed calm, the Marquess, that is and granted the permission for her to stay. Grinning thoughtfully, she took to her own thing.
Saffra weaved in between the streets for a moment until she came back and found Wyatt and Gabriel again. she remained silent, there wasn't much to say for her at this point and just let them all be content. A small, thin smile painted her lips, feeling a little lost in all of what was going on.

Well with the mini distraction to the son of his boss, he too decided to sit at the table the girl with the headband sat at. He didn't know the second dude, or why he randomly came to this house. He actually felt a bit guilty about the whole thing, as Valcrist's presence isn't something you'd expect at a family reunion. He looked at the girl and tried to to smile when he saw her almost pitiful looking face. This was probably a bit more excitement then she was expecting.
"Hello, I'm Valcrist. You're Chelsea, right?" He asked innocently, slightly tilting his head as he did. Those clothes... "Are you, perchance, Sacaen?" He remembered seeing the caravan's selling clothes like that, ones of high quality fabrics and silks and told him about how they were traditional Sacaen garb... He's always liked those clothes.

Chelsea gave a little nod. "I'm Sacaen." She gave this boy a look over. He looked tanned, probably from that desert she had heard about. "And you're right, my name is Chelsea." She gave him a smile. "You work for Kelvin's parents, right? What do they have you do?" She had to admit she was curious about what kind of work people would do on a ranch like this.

Harlow already felt a little sorry he'd knocked. There were several people inside the house, and he noted the way they glanced at him sidelong and then went back about their business. And he definitely picked up on the wary suspicion in the voice of the man who had answered the door.
"Um, I'm really sorry to intrude like this," Harlow said awkwardly, "but I was just passing by when I smelled such a delicious aroma coming from this house... Anyways, I'll get to the point. I was wondering if there was any of that fish you'd be willing to spare for a tired traveler? I'd be perfectly willing to pay you for it, with what little I've got. And then I'd be on my way before you'd know it."

"That's really cool." An impressed Valcrist said in response, then realized that wasn't something you usually praise like that. "Oh, erm... I mean..." He started to stutter, feeling a bit embarrassed and quite odd. Quickly he shook his head and abandoned that little thread of awkwardness and instead picked up from where her second question left off. "I fit horseshoes onto the horses, and do some carpentry work around the ranch. Kinda tame, but they pay me in room and board while I wait for a traveling group going out of town. Though in a small town like this... that never happens."

A weary traveler? As a knight of Caelin, Kelvin couldn't turn this man away. Besides, Kelvin felt sorry for him. "Of course! Come on in. Mother always makes a little extra fish anyways. And don't worry about paying, we don't need your money. I don't think I caught your name. I'm Kelvin Calderon, knight of Caelin. And you are?" Kelvin said, extending his hand.

The archer gave a little giggle at Valcrist's embarrassment. "If you want, Kelvin and I are a part of a traveling group. We could ask our commander if you could join us. I don't see it being much of a problem." She gave him another smile. "Do you fight at all? What kind of weapon do you use?"

"W-what?" It was that easy, really? Don't get him wrong, he was more then grateful, it was just that he expected to be stuck here for a few more months. Not many people passed by, and he was almost drained of gold. If he really could go with them.... That would be incredible. "You mean, I can go with you guys? Just like that?" He added, a bit bewildered at the whole situation. Bewildered, but happy. He smiled widely at the Sacaen girl. "I'm not incredibly skilled at fighting, but I do know how to use a blade." Mostly self-taught, though he's read a few manuals on proper swordplay. No substitute for experience, but it was a start.
"Also, I am a blacksmith." He added to his list of qualifications. "Actually that's not exactly correct... but I don't really know how to explain it." He thought for a moment before giving up on it. " I'm not the best, but in a pinch I could be of some use." He knew all the techniques, the theory, and had some experience, but he wasn't very skilled in the actual metalwork. His mother was teaching that to him when he left.

Harlow's unease melted away at the man's invitation. He took Kelvin's hand and shook it heartily. "Well! I do appreciate your hospitality, sir Kelvin. My name is Harlow... Harlow Rhodes. I..." He hesitated. As a knight of Caelin, Kelvin probably would not be thrilled to hear that Harlow had just recently been a part of a mercenary group serving under Etruria. "I hail from Ostia. Or at least, what's left of it. Used to be a soldier in the army. Now I guess I'm unaffiliated..."
His face fell slightly at the thought of Ostia, but he quickly recovered. "Anyways, I would be grateful to sit down and rest for just a moment. Is there somewhere I could lay down my pack?"

"You might be even luckier then. I'm pretty sure that we have a blacksmith in our group. I'm sure if you asked him, he'd be able to teach you a thing or two." She looked over towards Kelvin, seeing him talk to the scruffy looking archer. Another archer! It would be nice to have another. She looked back at Kelvin and fought the urge to laugh. It was almost like it was their house the way they were entertaining guests. She felt a light blush move over her face and she looked quickly away from Kelvin. She turned back to the novice. "I can't see why they'd say no."

"Set it anywhere you like!" Kelvin said with a smile. "And if you're feeling a little weary, you can rest in my old room for a little while." Kelvin paused for a moment, realizing how his demeanor had changed recently. He was a lot happier, and much more hospitable to people. It was probably something to do with Chelsea. Their relationship had been recovering over the past couple of days, and it had put Kelvin in a much better mood. Kelvin snapped out of his thoughts. "Say, seeing as your unaffiliated right now, would you be looking for a job?" Kelvin asked, spotting the quiver on Harlow's back. "We could really use another archer in our army."

"That's even better! I can continue my training." He said aloud, without even realizing it. He was excited and probably looked like a little kid to onlookers. This is even better then I could of hoped for. I can practice my blacksmithing and my swordsmanship all while traveling across Lycia! I wonder where they are headed next? I just know it will be exciting! He was happy, but remained in his seat. "Thank you Chelsea." Even if they said no, it was nice to think a pretty girl like her thought he was good enough to come along.
He turned his head to the scruffy looking man and tilted his head slight, analyzing him, taking him in. He turned his gaze back to the archer girl that was about his age. I should really show her my sword later, I'll bet she'd be impressed... Wait... that thought just went somewhere horrible.

Harlow's smile froze as he thought about what Kelvin had just suggested. On the one hand, he wasn't sure he was up to any more soldiering, at least for the time being. But on the other hand, he desperately needed something to occupy himself with, and furthermore, a place to belong. And he liked this Kelvin.
"You're offering me a spot in your army? And you just met me! Are all knights of Caelin this friendly?" And trusting?, he thought.
"It would be good to belong to another unit. And I trust that this army of yours is set to do something to repay those louts who razed Ostia to the ground. Let me think about it over lunch. I don't like to make hasty decisions. I'd like to meet some of your crew first too, if that's all right."
With that, Harlow stepped inside and set his pack and his bow down by the door. He glanced at the two others sitting down at a nearby table and thought about joining them and introducing himself, but he remembered how grungy he must look right now. "And now, begging your pardon, I'm going to go find a place I can wash some of the muck from my face. It won't do to sit down at a dining table looking like this."

Chelsea giggled at Valcrist's excitement. He seemed like a child in his delight, which caused her to giggle more. "You're cute, you know." She looked over towards Kelvin to see if he reacted at all. She meant it playfully, of course, but you never know how an infatuated guy will take things. Oh well. She turned back to the tan-skinned boy to catch him staring at her. She gave him a little smile. He was cute. But he was also no Kelvin. Wait, what?
