Wein glanced at Valcrist, then back to Yaen. "This kid may have made a swordsman of himself, but the question stands, how good of a swordsman?" The archer gave a slight sigh. "I guess it'll be interesting to see how Valcrist turns out. It's not his skill that makes me doubt, but, well, he seems to be lacking a certain..." Wein gave confused look as he thought of the right word.
"A certain...poise. I've met plenty of swordsman in my travels, you included, and he lacks those eyes. The stance," clarified the Ostian. "Then again, I guess those are all gained with time. If you have faith in the kid, I don't see why I should doubt. After all, I'm just an archer."

"Spirit. That is the word you are looking for." Yaen replied. "Of all the weapons in the world, the sword is the one most connected to spiritual things. Wielding a sword is more than just hacking and stabbing. It is an art. It is a dance. It is a way of life. You live by the sword. You die by the sword. With it, you are a god of death. Without it, you are nothing. That is the truth that all swordsmen recognize. Valcrist has not yet realised this. But he will." he explained. He then shoved Wein's shoulder. "Stop making me talk so sagely. I feel old." he joked, sporting a wry grin. "And there's nothing wrong with being an archer. I knew an archer when I was young. It's thanks to him that I'm the man I am now."

Wein chuckled and shoved Yaen back. "Well excuse me. I'm not the one who broke out into the sword litany. And don't talk about old. I'm the old fart of this group." The Ostian looked back towards the endless horizon towards which they kept approaching.
"Not sure how much I believe all of that, though. What makes a sword anymore a way of life than a bow? Both are an extension of the user, and both..." Wein raised an eyebrow and shot the swordsman a half-joking half-serious look, "...can be used to kill. And you're right, there's nothing wrong with being an archer. I just meant that I'm not sure how qualified that makes me to comment on swordsmanship. I mean, not just anyone can use a bow. It requires a steady mind, concentration, calm, control over one's breathing, and a decent amount of brain power." He waved his hand casually. "A few things I've seen many a swordsman lack."

He heard little of what the two were talking about, but it was enough. There was little other sound on the plains besides the two men talking afterall, if they were trying to talk behind his back, it might help if his back was turned first. It wasn't much... but all of a sudden Val began to doubt his self.
Do I... really lack spirit? He turned his head back to his book, not really even drawing anymore. His grin had fallen, but no one would see. He'd just fake it if anyone came around... Maybe this was a mistake. All of it.
But... well... He had to try. It may be a mistake, but it's his mistake, and he'd see it through to the end.

((Invokes the power of time skip))
"There it is!" Yaen announced, pointing to the cluster of buildings that were becoming easier and easier to spot. Okay, so he'd been wrong about making it in one day, but two days wasn't so bad either, right? "Bulgar, the only city in Sacae." he stated, resting his left hand on his left sword. Looking around at the small group, he grinned. "Well, come on! The sooner we get moving, the sooner we'll get there!" he stated, starting again for the city.

Val had long since brightened back up, long since finished his design. In fact he's finished the design that he made after he scrapped the design, and he was working what was replacing that. Blacksmithing, to him atleast, is a lot of trial and error. Not with the materials, that'd cost a fortune, but he had to make sure it'd look a good AND good for fighting. A very hard combo, which is why they rarely mix. Most beginner weapons are of the shapeless hunk on metal variety, they learn to make better looking weapons as they grow as better blacksmiths. It was the opposite for him. He made things that looked good, now he was trying to focus on things that worked good.
He looked at Yaen with a gentle smile. He wasn't feeling crappy for once, it was a surprise. Maybe the plains were just what he needed? He'd need to go to the blacksmith when he arrived, to ask if he could borrow their forge and buy some raw materials...

Wein ran a hand through his hair. Bulgar, the jewel of Sacae. Not nearly as impressive as Ostia had once been, but after a few days of nothing but grass, boulders, and the occasional tree, it seemed like a metropolis greater than any other.
"Pretty impressive, Yaen," said Wein, slapping his comrade on the back. "The crown jewel of the Sacaens. The only place that hasn't picked up and left." He said this half-jokingly of course, but started off ahead of the swordsman. "I can't wait to sleep on a bed. They do have beds here, don't they?"

Kenshin had spent a few days buying supplies and other things they were going to need back home. He had to wait for some of them to arrive in a couple of days so he spent his time roaming the city looking at what each vender had. He had seen most of it by now and he was just hoping they might get something new that would catch his eye. He was hoping to get something for his lovely wife Katara.
As he was walking he was eyeballing a necklace when he bumped into a young man with a bow. He turned to him to apologize "I'm sorry sir, I wasn't watching where I was going."

Yaen smirked and shoved Wein. "Of course we have beds. We're not animals. Though some of us, like me, prefer the floor. I haven't slept in a bed in so long, I couldnt sleep if I were put in one." Yaen laughed. Ah, Bulgar. So bustling. His joy seemed to increase ten-fold for the sake of being surrounded by his countrymen. After five years of living in the Lycian territories, he was finally home.
Yaen was rather close to Wein,so when Wein was bumped, Wein bumped him. He turned to face the guilty party, but said nothing. His eyes slightly widened for but a moment at the sight of the red hair and scar on the mans right cheek. Calm down. He probably doesn't even recognize you. It's been five years, after all, and you've changed your appearance since then...

Hrm? Who's that? Yaen seemed to be preoccupied with something, staring at this odd red headed man they bumped into. Something tells me... I should really know... who he is... But I can't quite put my finger on it... Other then that Yaen sounded cheerful, it almost creeped Val out with the stoic face he learned to grow accustomed to. He wanted to speak up and simply ask what was wrong, or who that guy was. But something told him that random outbursts weren't really appropriate right now.

Wein, bumped by the red-headed man, stumbled back. The man, who looked to be just a bit older than Yaen, seemed a bit imposing, what with his fiery hair and scarred visage, but his apology was much welcomed. The rumors were true, he guessed: Sacaen's were very polite.
"Oh, it's quite alright," he said, raising his hands assuredly. In Ostia, the offending party would have most likely blown right past him. "That's quite the necklace you got there. Is it for somebody special?"

"Oh this? It's for my lovely wife."(OoC:And this is where I hit a mental block for so long... Even as I went to post this...) This man, he's not from here. The way he's dressed, the way he spoke gave it away. With everything that's going on could he be a spy? Looking at the man that was standing next to him Kenshin noticed he was from Sacae as well. "Obviously you're not from around here, what brings you to Sacae?"

Wein gave Yaen, Valcrist, and Arturia a glance before looking back at the red haired Sacaen.
"I'm just visiting," he replied amicably. "You know, see the sights, hear the sounds, smell the smells? I'm an explorer of sorts. A wanderer if you will. I couldn't pass up a chance to see the jewel of Sacae, now could I?" The Ostian archer had no idea the red haired man suspected him of some sort of foul play. "Other than that, I'm just tagging along with him," he said, jutting a thumb at Yaen.

Yaen nodded in agreeance with Wein. "We're escorting a cleric as far as Bern, and Bulgar happened to be on the way." he explained, going into further detail than Wein. "I felt inclined to show my Lycian friends what Sacae has to offer." Wow, Kenshin really didn't recognize him?

OoC : Sorry guys, I had a terrible real life. But now, I will try to be active again...
Arturia never went to Bulgar, today was her first time seeing the only unmoving city in Sacae. She looked around the city while walking behind Valcrist, this city was completely different with Delfia. The buildings had unique architecture which show the Sacaen culture. She was in good mood now, walking with a beautiful smile on her face.
She almost bumped to Val when the groups suddenly stopped, then she saw a red haired man with a small scar on his cheek. It seemed that man apologized to Wein, the archer told him that it was alright. But her attention turned towards Yaen who suddenly had a cheerful expression.
Arturia turned to Valcrist and spoke to him, "Hey Val. Is he Yaen's acquaintance?"
