"That sounds pretty awesome." Isabel said with a smile. So here we had Chelsea going on about her recent engagement (can't complain; she had asked about what they were doing...), and Kelvin mentioned his working for Bern in this whole Ilia versus Bern conflict she had been hearing so much about. The prodigy closed her eyes, thinking for a moment. It couldn't hurt to tell this man about the scorching insignia, right? If he was working with the rebellion, he'd hear about it eventually... Unless it was a bigger secret than she realized. Better to play it safe, in that case. "And funny you should mention that, Kelvin. Our group is involved in this conflict as well. Although... We're not exactly supporting either side. Again, you'd have to ask Valorian about it later, and he can give you information at his discretion."
The shaman shrugged her shoulders and leaned back in her seat, looking around the tavern, before leaning forward again. "Well... I'm not sure what else there is to talk about... We could discuss... Eh." Isabel leaned back again, and shrugged. "I'm open to suggestions."

He wasn't exactly sure when he wandered into the forge. Or when he put on the apron and began banging at the steel like it was some kind of... thingy... he.... um, banged. Drat, he needed better analogies. He had the money, he rented the forge and bought the steel from the smith and decided to go to work. Blacksmithing always helped him ease away stress, it was some kind of ritual for him by now, he needed to focus all of his mind, his attention onto it. One wrong move, and the blade is flawed, it becomes weak, brittle. He didn't have time to make it, hrm... 'fancy' one may say. No minerals to change the steel's color, no inlaying tools to engrave it, just the steel. But, then again, he didn't NEED those things. That's something he's learned on this journey, sometimes simple was just as good as complex... hell sometimes it was better.
Of course, he couldn't very well call his self a Terris Smith if he went with simple and easy. The blade itself, curved in a style he never saw outside of his home. All nations had their own style of blade, from the thick blades of Bern to the thin blade of Sacae. The rapiers of Lycia, the magical blades of Etruria. This was a blade of Nabata, and he was proud.

Karina had been watching Valcrist. not in a creepy way, but more as a casual observer. She felt so detached from everyone in the group, but she always felt herself migrating towards Valcrist. She watched him swing his hammer, noting how with each blow, the lump of metal began to morph in to something more useful. Her mind wandered to Chelsea and Kalvin, though she tried not to.
She didn't know why, but she found herself on the verge of tears when she had seen the two of them together. Maybe that is why she felt some kind of connection to Valcrist. They had both tried to be romantically involved the Chelsea. Though, the more she thought about it, they failed for very different reasons. Valcrist had done nothing wrong, but Karina... She had ran off, leaving Chelsea alone on the plains. She felt as though the world would be righter if Chelsea were to come up and give Karina a good punch to the face.
"You have quite a useful talent," Karina said, stepping forward. Her voice came out strangely flat, as though she was not concentrated in what she was saying. "To be a master of the sword is one thing, but to be able to craft one? Now that is a skill you can make an honest living out of."

Kelvin had seen Valcrist get up from the table earlier, but had just assumed he was "going about his business." However, he had been gone too long for that. It had to be something else. "Actually, Isabel, I should probably go find where Valcrist has gone. He has a tendency to wander and I just want to make sure he hasn't gone too far. If you'll excuse me," he said, standing up from the table. He pushed his chair back in and headed out the door. Once outside, he paused for a moment to think. Valcrist was a painter, so maybe the would give a hint as to where he was. But that was too broad. After a moments thought, he had remembered him mentioning smithing at the table. That gave fewer options as to where he could be, so Kelvin set off in search of a forge.

"Hey Karina, good to see you out." He spoke without raising his head, but stayed completely absorbed by his weapon he was molding. He knew it was her though, he could recognize the voice... and smell. She smelled like a weird mixture of pretty things like flowers, and horse. Well he couldn't really smell it right now, the smell of metal and fire was a bit overwhelming. But he remembered the smell as soon as he thought of her, it reminded him of Chelsea actually. It was baffling to the nose.
"I was raised to be a blacksmith actually. The swordsmanship is more of the things I learned on the side. Instead of the other way a-wait are you okay?" He continued his work, and looked up for a moment to fetch the tongs and all of a sudden when he saw her face it was as if empathy just backhanded him into last week. He stood for a second, but quickly went back to work and grabbed the blade from it's resting place and placed it in the water. A long hissing steam filled the forge, and he let it set in the water for a few moments.
He wasn't sure... what... but it was something. He was heartbroken and despondent so often he should win a medal for most over dramatic teenager. Still he could see the signs. "Oh well, the weapon can wait a second. It's not going to unforge itself, is everything alright?" He wiped the soot and such from his hand with a dirty rag that... well it looked like it was smearing his hands instead of cleaning them. Oops.

Karina brushed back her hair, trying not to look upset. She didn't want to make Valcrist think she was the kind of girl who cried over seeing someone she liked with someone else. She had to make herself seem confidant now, so she spoke clearly, making sure to inflect when needed.
"Yes, I am fine. I must be getting a cold or something of the sort. But... Isn't is funny that we would part ways with Chelsea, just to find her back in our midst? I am not saying anything against it, I just find it anecdotal. Perhaps it is fate." She looked back at the forge, then to the weapon that had been taking shape.
"I Must admit I did not expect to see her so soon. I may be over reacting, but I thought she would be mad at me. She did not even seem to see me there, though. I have been distant, as of late, but I am still there, you know?" she panicked internally, afraid she was coming off too needy. Trying to change the subject, she said, "I wish I could forge. It seems useful. All I can do is fight. And sing, but there is no use in that these days."

"I say take the people that look like they could take a few hits!" Jya remarked, not fully understanding the magnitude of her suggestion. She worked better solo and out of sight but if she was needed she would go to the front lines for her friend's sake. She just felt like finding the strongest or rather the person that can take being wacked around would be the best for their group. She knew she couldn't and she had head magic users were hardly the best in frontal assaults. As far as her advice goes, she was best left to telling how to kill someone, locks, or stealing.

Everything was buzzing around in Tara's head. Like pesky little flies, the past events would not let her focus on just one. She sat at the table across from Isabel, watching a few of the people get up and go off to their own business.
"I'm not sure what you mean, Jya, but I think we may be over our heads. Not you, of course, but I for one can still hardly hold up a sword. I am ashamed of my weakness. The fact that I am still here today is a testament to you all." she dragged a put of food around her plate, unsure of what to say.

"Yes... a cold." That wasn't the most believable thing he's heard, but who was he to say she didn't have one? Maybe she caught it being so high in the air or something, she did wear a short skirt after all. How do pegasus knights do that? He could of sworn someone told him once, but it slipped through his mind like his hands were covered in soap. He crossed his arms, leaning up again a wall and looking at her. Arms crossed, his jacket and scarf hung up elsewhere so he was wearing a more simple dark blue shirt, somewhat thick too. He was a bit warm, to be honest, the flames of the forge making him sweat.
"I could use a break anyways..." He muttered quietly. He then added a small laugh. "Welcome to my life. Everytime I think I'll never see her again, I see her five minutes later." He grinned, and thought for a second. Isabel was similar now that he though of it. "If it is fate, then fate's a jerk who likes to see me squirm. Something I've always believed anyways, so yeah it probably is."
He shrugged, his back still against the wall. Aw yeah, looking so cool Valcrist. "She's not really that kind of person. I think, it's not she would break and hate everything. I think she's just happy about her proposal. Kelvin proposed, that is. Kelvin's the, ah, green guy. The only reason she caught me is because I'm the most conspicuous guy ever."
"I would love to be able to sing. I think I got the leftover broken voices after all the good ones were taken. It runs in my family, my mom can't sing either." He chuckled. "Bless her heart, she tried to anyways." He looked at the ceiling for a moment, as if there was something there. Suddenly he began to speak again. "We all have things we're good at, I'm good at forging and not much else. Each person is useful in their own ways, fighting, especially in this dangerous day and age."

Karina thought back to when she met Kelvin. Not one of her finest moments. "Yes, I do remember meeting Kelvin a while back. I had been... interacting... with his cousin, Rayl, and ran in to him. It was not long before I met back up with Chelsea, actually. I knew they were together, but I had no idea of his plans to propose. They do make a nice match, don't they?" she smiled and looked down.
"I should really stop doing things like what I did with Rayl, I might get a bad reputation. I am just not very good at communicating, you know? I suppose that is how I found my talents as a singer. It is much easier to express yourself in song than in normal conversations. I could always teach you to sing, you know. No matter the voice we are given, training can make it better!"

Chelsea watched as Kelvin walked away. She was silently mad at herself. She should have been the one to go try and talk to Val. Maybe she should try to find Karina. The last time she had seen her was leaving with Val, so if he was here there was a good chance she was too. She looked around the tavern quickly. Had she been here the whole time and she hadn't seen her? She stomach dropped. Just like with Val, even after everything that had happened, she would feel horrible if she had missed her like that. Yeah, maybe she should go do that. Then she could come back and get to know these other people more. But right now, she felt like she needed to find and talk to her best friend. "If you'll excuse me as well, I just realized something I need to do." She gave a little bow. "I'll try to be back quickly and we can resume getting to know one another." With that, she hurried off through the door she had just watched Kelvin leave through.

Valorian rolled his eyes slightly, though he still wore a smile on his face. "Heavily armored friends to be a big distraction for you, eh? Seems fitting." The one most likely to fit that bill would have been the green cavalier...but Valorian did not know, or trust, the man.
"Hmmm, you know I've been wondering about this for a while, and I think it's time to ask. Jya, why were you hunting that priest when we met again in Bern? I mean, you aren't really willing to kill anyone for money, are you? If someone paid you to kill me or Isabel, or Calvin...would you?"
It seemed like he should have more faith in her, but the problem was he couldn't read her patterns. Everything seemed so awkward and by the seat of her pants. Maybe she really had no plans at all to anything she did.

Jya realized she hadn't mentioned the letter of hers. She wasn't even paid for that kill and whoever sent it to her never contacted he again like promised. Was it a good idea to show Valorian the letter? It couldn't hurt, perhaps whoever sent it lost track of her. At least that was her hopes.
"I was just curious to see what happens, I guess," she said, taking out the crumpled contract paper out of her pockets.
"It didn't even state if I'll get paid or the like but it seems they probably forgot about me or just used me...probably just used me," she sighed, offering the paper up.

"Aw man, you met Rayl? I'm crazy jealous right now. I always seem to just be following in his wake. I hear so much about him, by the time I meet him he better be some kind of glowing beacon of purity with doves flying out his rear end or something." He laughed, he didn't actually want to meet Rayl. He'd probably just stand there and look like an idiot, well, more then usual. That's an accomplishment you see. "I suppose... I don't know anything about Kelvin. She seems to like him well enough, that's good enough I suppose." He shrugged, he felt a bit empty when he talked. Like he was wearing cleats and stomping over his self and just chose to ignore it. Emotions were stupid. He's resolved to never be that lame again, it will be a hard and arduous task with every bit of his nature fighting against it, but when your bawling on the plains just because some girl doesn't like you, well, you've hit rock bottom so hard your ribs shatter.
"I'm not good at talking either, in addition to my many other pitfalls." He shrugged. "I wouldn't worry about that though, stand next to me and you'll look like a politician in comparison. We all say stuff we regret, don't think over, and just sounds stupid. I've personally stuffed my foot in my mouth so often I've begun to grow used to the taste."
"I can't express anything through song except the sign of dying animals. I don't think all the training in the world would change that. But thank you for the offer, not many people offer to help fix my many flaws." He grinned and decided to stop leaning on the wall because it was hurting his back. Ow... After nonchalantly rubbing his back, which was obvious to everyone because Val sucked at nonchalance, he stretched a bit until he felt functional.
"So, what DID you do with Rayl that caused problems? I doubt it could be anything that bad."

Karina looked side to side and grabbed her own arm at the elbow. She wasn't trying to be awkward, but she could not held but take such a stance. Those few days she spent with Rayl were one of the most embarrassing of her life, including her years trying to assimilate back into civilized society.
"I can hardly say that I made him out to be as pure as one might think. We didn't do anything serious, we just sort of... Fell over each other while not wearing much clothing. It was late, or early, I think? I got lost in a fort and ended up in his room. A few days later, he pushed me in a river, and my tunic nearly came off." Karina relaxed a bit. Once she said aloud what they had done, it didn't seem that bad. Just a few childish things, that was all. Nothign to fret too much about.
In an effort to sound less childish, she continued, "but, yes, Rayl is a nice man. I have heard he is a great warrior, but I never really had the pleasure of being in battle beside him. Anyway... I am not sure how much longer I will stay with these people. I do have a brother of mine to find, after all."
