"Just sounds like a lot of accidents to me. I'm sure he isn't going to hold it against you. Some people are just magnets for misunderstandings, it's like the most entertaining situation possible is the one that ALWAYS happens." He tried to give her a cheerful look, he'd pat her on the shoulder too to cheer her up, but she was on the other side of the room and if she might not appreciate the sudden invasion of personal space. He knew he wouldn't.
He thought it over for a few seconds, then continued. Tapping his chin lightly, staring off into the distance as he spoke. "It explains why Chelsea's here too, to be honest. I personally like to pretend my life is a just a giant joke, and I'm a living punchline. I mean, I fell for a girl who didn't even like me. Left because I didn't want to be near her, found her AGAIN where I told her how I felt and she crashed me so hard in the friendzone I think some bones cracked. Left AGAIN, and then, lo and behold found her once more. Where I blubbered like a baby on the plain. Left again, and what do you know? Ran into her again PLUS she's engaged." He spoke with a straight face, his voice slightly mocking his self. Oh god he was pathetic.
"It's kind of funny really. In a horrible self-depreciative way. It's like the universe wants to rub her in my face as much as humanly possible as if to say 'Look! She's happy and you're not! She never liked you! Deal with it.'" He flayed out his hands as he spoke, shaking them lightly not unlike a street entertainer might. "Oh, um, sorry about that. This wasn't about me, and I made it about me. I suppose I wanted to say, you're not alone in the horrible spider web of awkward situations you just can't escape. The more you struggle, the more stuck you become. All you can do, is make the best of it. I mean, you made some friends along the way, right?"

Karina looked down, not able to look Valcrist in the eye as he went on about his experiences with Chelsea. She fiddled with her thumbs, twirled her hair, then said, "I am sure that the universe does not single people out. We are like ants to whatever cosmic force controls the world. But you should not wallow in such self-pity. It is unfitting for someone like you. Trust me, I know from first-hand experience." She paused, prepared herself for the leap she was bout to make.
"You must do something great, do something unexpected! Something brave and daring! Some like, oh, say, helping a poor, short pegasus rider find her long-lost brother in a frozen tundra?" She smiled wide, hoping her humorous suggestion and short skirt would help Valcrist slide over the fact she basically called him a whining child.

"That is where you are wrong, madam. I am quite sure it hates me. I hate it too, so I suppose it evens out." Shaking a finger like a tutting mother, Valcrist knows best. Except when he didn't, which was all the time. Still that doesn't mean he wasn't immune to trying to pretend he does. "Also wallowing in my self-pity is sort of my think. That and self-depriciative jokes that no one laughs at but feel like punching me in the head for because 'oh my god no one hates themselves that much' spoiler alert: yes someone does. He has two thumbs and he's a blond haired prat." He pointed both of said thumbs at his self, with the largest fakest grin he has ever wore. "I hate that kid." His smile died and became a flat line, his face entirely serious.
"'Great' and 'unexpected'? Oh girl, you don't know me at all. Still, I suppose I could help you. I already said I would, right? I already decided I'll try to keep that promise best I can. Considering my track record though, I wouldn't get too excited." He became more casual, now that he was done with that mini-onslaught. "I mean, at the very least, I know my way around Sacae. I have some maps too, if you need them."
Frozen tundra? Ewwww.... Good thing he had this scarf. Which he... was not currently wearing. Oh yeah, took it off to smith. It's over there. That's right! He was smithing a sword!

Isabel sighed as she watched Kelvin and Chelsea walk off to find their friends, and sighed again as she found that Reylan seemed to have just up and disappeared by the time her gaze had returned to the table. Wow. Now it was just her, Tara, and the unconscious naive wonder. The shaman coughed quietly into her hand, and then took to drawing ancient symbols from her tomes onto the table with her right hand pointer finger. Well then. Boooooooooredoooooooom. Talking was a great remedy, although so was petting your cat or reading a book. Hmm.
While she kept the silence, Isabel reflected once more on what had transpired. Valorian and Jya had walked out, presumably to talk about feelings; Valcrist had gone to the outhouse (now thought to be a coverup to leave); Kelvin and Chelsea had run off to find Valcrist and his traveling companion... Plus Reylan disappearing without a trace. Which was kind of impressive. Freaking ninja knights... Why were they so impossibly stealthy? Anywho, she now had a back-up, more powerful tome and a cat... And new acquaintances, although she would tell Calvin later that they were friends. That would get a smile out of him, for sure... But, now... Tara. Isabel, despite having fought beside the woman twice now, plus traveling with her for a while, didn't really know much about Tara.
"Hey, Tara. How have you been holding up lately?" the sapphire-haired girl said suddenly, breaking the silence at their table.

((Well my internet is back and this topic is a little, still? Anyway I thought I’d just squeeze in a post for the hell of it))
While Calvin remained unconscious due to the effects of alcohol, the large group of travelers and friends were now slowly beginning to part, returning once again to its original size and inhabitants. Calvin remained uninvolved to any of the conversations, sleeping peacefully, leaned on the hard wooden desk. His head was off in some make believe dream world of friendship and harmony that few people were lucky enough to have. If Ignorance is bliss, Innocence must be heaven. Calvin squirmed a little in his sleep , he was having a very confusing dream, he didn’t quite understand it. Still tired and intoxicated Calvin’s head rose barely from his arms his eyes peering open and staring at Isabel with curiosity, before falling back down and drifting off to sleep again. Calvin mumbled Incoherently in his sleep before returning to his once peaceful state.

OOC: I think a skip to the next morning may be in order.
IC:
Val seemed to have his head in the clouds as Jya spoke, complaining of her last contract. This was lunacy. Pure and utter lunacy. He sighed a bit, and then stood up. "Well, I think I'm going to head back to the inn to check on Calvin and Izzy. I assume you'll find your way back when you are good and ready?" It wasn't so much of a question as it was a statement.
He'd said what he had come here to say, but if at all possible it seemed the two were further apart then they were before. Some things were not easy, and he began to wonder if there was any future down the path he was walking. He'd promised to return here when it was all over, but would that even be possible? It seemed that a myriad of problems aimed to get in the way of his future.

"Alright, actually I'll take a shortcut," Jya remarked, climbing onto the nearest roof. With that she began to make her way back to the inn. A few coughs came by as her body began to rebel from the exercise. It wasn't bad to talk with her friend though. Her absent mindedness caused her to slip off the roof. She managed to land the right way and ended right in front of the tavern.
"Ouch," she remarked, patting herself off.

Tara drew her fingers up from her toes in a final pose of her morning stretches. She opened the window of her room and breathed in deep the Sacaen air. Everything was so still in the morning, Tara had no other wish than to take it all in. She did note, however, that a cold breeze came from the north. It reminded her of home, and her mood turned. She wanted to be away from the awful air of Ilia, heavy with snow and icy cold.
Trying to ignore hated memories, she packed her things and headed downstairs. She sat at the bar and ordered a small breakfast, eager for the rest of her comrades to join her.

Isabel sat on the bed in her room, not wishing to get up and wake Solomon, who was sitting on the desk. Laid out in front of her was her brand new Luna tome, opened to some random page. To her, it didn't matter. She was getting the hang of this; she didn't need to have the exact right page in front of her to cast the spell anymore. The shaman sat with her eyes closed, her left hand open in front of the pages of the book, looking for all the world like she was trying to draw as much power out of it as possible. A glowing rune of some sort appeared in midair, before fading away. The Etrurian girl slumped forward a little bit before catching herself, using the book to support her weight. She wiped the bead of sweat from her brow, and then, snapping her eyes back open, closed the tome tenderly and placed it back in her bag. Isabel grabbed the thick blue scarf Valcrist had given to her as a gift, but stopped herself from putting it on... Someone was watching her.
The shaman's head quickly turned, scanning the room, only to find that the source of the stare was Solomon. The cat was watching her with those big green eyes, this time with more curiosity than burning arrogance. Isabel cracked a grin at the cat, allowing her tenseness to ease. "You nearly gave me a heart attack, Solly." she said quietly, and then got up, padding across the room on bare feet to the cat. The sapphire-haired teen stroked the black cat's head a few times, and then--- woah wait. Isabel had a double take as she glanced at her hand, which she noticed was bleached of color, and almost glowed a deathly pale in the gloom of pre-dawn. The shaman glanced over at the Luna tome, and then shuddered as she realized she was cold.
If this was the price to pay for power, then so be it.
The morning light found Isabel asleep, Solomon softly purring at her hand, attempting to wake her up. After a few minutes, she did wake, and quickly dressed herself in the rest of her attire: her cloak, her shoes, and her scarf. The next thing to purchase would undoubtedly be pajamas of some sort; she was tired of sleeping in her shirt and pants! Packing up the contents of her bag, the teenager headed downstairs, where she found Tara eating breakfast. Isabel smiled as she slid into a seat next to the novice swordswoman. "Good morning, Tara." Her big smile was almost enough to cover up the slight nags under her eyes, indicating her lack of sleep. Color had mostly returned to the girl, although she still looked a little sickly from the elder magic.

The morning sun peered through a gap in the curtains of Calvin’s room. A warm ray of light beamed in Calvin’s direction eloping him in a golden light. His eyes shot open and almost instantly the energetic boy leaped out of the covers, his feet pounding on the wooden floor. Probably loud enough to be hear downstairs. He let out an exaggerated stretch and a sheepish smile broadened across the youth’s face as he spoke aloud; “Morning!”. His arms dropped to his side and his eyebrows perked in confusion. He rubbed the side of his head and realized he couldn’t remember what happened last night. He was with all his usual friends but, there were others. Calvin never forgets his friends and could still remember what they all looked like, but what were they doing again? He should have a pounding headache right now but miraculously, it was blocked out by a can do attitude but uhhh, mostly his usual sea of questions floating around in his head. He shook his head and got ready for the day, making the bed after himself before heading downstairs. His bag casually tossed over his shoulder he skipped down the hallways with a refreshing smile on his face. He made his way over to the two blue haired women and sat beside them.
“Good mooorning friends! Are the others up yet?”

Valorian had let himself sleep in a little bit, it had been a while since he'd allowed himself to do so. He usually spent a little extra gold to get his own room, didn't like having to disgust people with the scars along his body. It had been a while since he'd taken stock of them...the old burns along the flesh of his left shoulder, the scar of the stab wound right above his right lung. Countless other injuries along this young frame, each one a memory. As he closed his eyes he could still see Alan in front of him, exactly as he was back then, as his own left arm turned to ash as it plunged the infernal fire into the Wyvern Lord's gut. The blood pouring from his chest as he felt the fire and darkness claim him. The moment of his death, he could remember it in such horrifying detail.
But the time for dwelling on that was long since past. There was no way to change the past, and he had a promise to keep. He wouldn't waste time feeling sorry for himself. As he clasped his cloak, he turned to look out the window for a moment. There was a slightly slanted roof outside, and he half expected to see Jya prowling on it. He decided against looking further, since if she was out there he really didn't want to see her.
And that was just one more problem he'd have to deal with...Jya. This journey was going to be a lot more difficult then he thought it would.

Isabel smiled as Calvin turned up, stifling a yawn to greet him. "Good morning, bardy." the shaman said, attempting and failing to supress as yawn between morning and bardy. She punched Calvin lightly in the arm as he sat next to her. "It would appear that we are still the only ones awake, although I wouldn't be surprised," another yawn ", if Jya fell from the ceiling right now." The sapphire-haired teen reached down into her bag, and then lifted an irritable black cat up and onto the table, where Solomon fell asleep again. "If Valorian and Jya are still sleeping, then only half of us are at least semi-awake. And, heck, even I'm half asleep right now." Isabel fell silent then, staring at the table. She ran her hand unconsciously from Solomon's head tthe base of his tail, over and over again, for this little moment of silence.

Calvin smiled innocently as Isabel greeted him, her sentence separated by a yawn of exhaustion. Calvin chuckled silently to himself, he was glad to be awake and moving again, it felt like he had been asleep forever. He listened in silence as Isabel slowly explained to him via yawn, that they were the only ones up so far. Her Jya comment also amused Calvin.
“Well if we’re the only ones awake, let’s chat!”
Calvin anxiously reached over the counter and frantically waved his hand.
“Can we get some breakfast please!”
A woman at the other end of the counter, talking to another customer turned her head back to Calvin and signaled she’d be over in a minute. Calvin turned back to Isabel and sat back into his chair. He realized Isabel only mentioned Val and Jya, so all those other people from last night…. Whoever they were, they weren’t coming?
“Wait a minute, what about those people last night… in fact what happened last night I don’t remember very much after I drank that… alcolahol…”
Calvin after completely mispronouncing alcohol suddenly blurted out some more words.
“Oh yeah, I drank it and then… then I don’t remember anything… But don’t worry I didn’t forget the friends we made. There was ummm… Valcrist… and ummm Chelsea and Kelvin….. and OH wasn’t there one of our old friends from Tirion’s group, Rey…. Reyloon…. Rayman… Reylan! What about them Are they up yet?”
Calvin's continuous stream rapid fire speech was interupted but a slight pain in his head and his hand rubbed the temple.
"Oooo, uncomfortable, this must be more of that Alcolahol stuff. I don't know what that is but I won't be having that again."
Finally the girl made their way down to Isabel and Calvin and pulled ap en out from behind her ear. She pressed the tip of the pen on her tounge and pulled out a notepad, and flipped it open.
"What Can I get ya?"
Calvin's head turned to the woman and a smiled broadened even further across his face.
"Can I just have a toasted sandwhich, NO ALCOLAHOL!"
The girl looked at Calvin strangely while simulatenously taking down what it was he was saying. She then turned to Isabel.
"Riiiiiiiiiggghhhhht..... and what about you honey?"

The shaman shrugged, and then looked up. "I don't know. Honey actually sounds good, though. So. If you have any of that. Maybe with bread. And water, too." After saying that, she returned to stroking Solomon's fur for a few minutes, and then looked at Calvin, and then at Tara. Dear god, where was Valorian and Jya? "So, Calvin, are you ready for the winter wonderland of frostbite and blizzards and all-around cold?" Isabel asked suddenly. She knew she wasn't, despite owning a scarf now. Maybe she should have bought a heavier cloak, or just heavier clothes in general... The blue-haired girl made a note to buy some when she got up in Ilia. Geez, her money probably wasn't going to hold out for the next two months...
Two months was all she had left in her adventure. Time flew so fast when you were having fun.

The waitress nodded and scribbled away on her notepad and flipping it shut. She shoved the pencil back behind her ear.
"I'll have it ready soon"
The girl headed off through a door behind the counter.
Calvin’s ears perked when Isabel spoke again and a small smile snuck its way onto his face. He couldn’t wait to go to Illia, frankly he would be just as excited going anywhere else, this whole adventure was a brand new experience. Anywhere he goes would be exciting. However he was particularly anxious to see the snow, it was such a rare opportunity for him.
“I can’t wait!” Calvin grinned childishly before looking away from Isabel and staring deeply into space.
“Ever since I started travelling I’ve had so much fun! It’s probably been the best experience of my entire life! I’m glad we got to be friends Isabel!”
He chuckled at his last statement before his head turned to the door after hearing footsteps. The woman placed the plates in front of the teens and Calvin paid for both of them.
“Awesome I’m so hungry, let’s eat!”
