The city of Dragon's Peak was decent sized. Certainly not some extravagant local that would draw many tourists. The city itself was built into the mountain, hence the Peak portion of the name. The legend of the city says it was founded by a dragon. The likelihood of such an event occurring seems mighty far fetched, but people are prone to their fantasies. The fact that the outcropping over the city itself seemed to appear as a dragon's face was a much more likely explanation for the name. Despite its myths, which every city is prone to, Dragon's Peak normally had a bustling economy with trade flowing in and out. With a population of roughly two thousand people, the city could sustain its own guard. The mountain itself provide a solid defense with the back side of the city covered by the mountain itself and sloping sharply away from the sides, making it almost impossible to enter from anywhere other than the front. To the front of the city, a large, gated wall imposed itself before all who tried to enter. The wall itself was actually a new addition since the rebellion in Bern began. Wanting to protect its citizens, the city had chosen to erect the wall and post guards along it and throughout the city as protection and a deterrent. None of that could be seen though.
If a traveler were to enter the city, they would notice a fairly organized layout. Roads were straight, buildings were even. Movement throughout the city was simple. The entire layout surrounded the government center, located within the middle of the city. A large parade ground sat directly in front as a location for ceremonies and celebrations. The main line of buildings leading up to this were businesses. Though it was not a center for trade, the people of Dragon's Peak did pride themselves on the quality of their wares produced, which ranged from armor and weapons to food and medicine. It was a well-established, self-sustaining place. Unfortunately, none of that was evident.
Of course, Aurek saw none of this himself. He could hear the silence that would be uncharacteristic of a town as large as he figured it should be. He could still hear people mulling about, but they were sedated. There were no guards at the front gate, and it wasn't even locked. The group had entered unchallenged and even now, unnoticed. Aurek was unperturbed though. He cared little for whatever may be causing the sour mood amongst the people. He only wanted to find the local doctor or doctors. "You guys do whatever you want. We'll meet back here at the front in like an hour or two. Don't do anything too stupid. I'm not saving you." With that taken care of, Aurek began moving into the flow of people.
Bumping into someone particularly hard, Aurek hoped to get a little attention from the droll group surrounding him. He was not disappointed. "Hey, are you blind?" the man Aurek had hit barked.
"I am," Aurek barked right back. He wasn't going to have people talk to him like that. "Tell me where your doctor is."
"He's over... there... nevermind, I'll just show you." The dumb person caught on quickly. Aurek followed the man down the street for a little ways. "Directly in front of you is the entrance." With that, the man seemed to leave.
Good. thought Aurek. The man didn't expect a thank you nor would he receive one. Aurek had no time for such flippant pleasantries. He had business to take care of. Stepping forward, he reached his hand out to push the door open but instead tripped on a step the man had not warned him of. Aurek fell head first into the door. "I'm going to find that man and beat him," Aurek seethed.
Someone opened the door. "Hello?"
"Hello, are you the doctor?" Aurek asked.
"Do I look like the doctor?"
"I don't know, do you?" He was getting a little sick of these people's lack of attentiveness. It wasn't like Aurek was trying to hide the fact he was blind.
"Hmph. Follow me," was not the reply Aurek was expecting. He pensively walked into what he hoped would be a source of light.

“Pshaw, stubborn old man”, spoke Butorega under his breath. It was obvious that the old man was going, but his pride had gotten the better of him. “It is not safe for him to be alone”, spoke Butorega as he began to follow Aurek from a distance. In a city like this it was easy for someone to get lost, or mugged for that matter. Besides even if Aurek somehow made it to the doctor how was he going to get back. He was blind.
Butorega made sure to keep a few feet between him and Aurek. Another man seemed to help the old man, but Butorega was not too sure. He remembered his days in the city and how he nearly lost his life to a group of cutthroats. One man spotted him out and supposedly helped him with directions and the others laid in wait. Unfortunately they chose the wrong target and their blood watered the earth that day. None the less Butorega was not going to let him go it alone.
As Butorega followed he noticed the eeriness of the town. It was strange how quite it was compared to what it was suppose to be. The last time he visited this town it was filled with merchants, travelers, and guards, but now it was almost empty.
The man seemed true to his word, though he did do a very poor job of leading the blind man to his destination. Aurek hit his head on the door as he stumbled over the step. “Aurek”, spoke Butorega as he took a step forward to go help the blind man, but his path was suddenly cut off by a woman in tattered clothing.
“Help”, she cried rather low for someone in danger noted Butorega. He looked at her up and down paying close attention to the tears on her clothing. The cuts were deliberate. They were well sliced and planned. A real person in danger would not have been so clean about them. A trap thought Butorega as he stared at the woman. His eyes lacking empathy and his face dawning his usual wolfish grin.
“What is the problem”, spoke Butorega acting as if he actually cared. He knew it was a trap, and he knew someone was going to pop out and attack him. However Butorega did not care. It had been a good two days since he last stretched his muscles and the brigand was looking for a good scrap.
“My sister”, spoke the woman as she rushed into a nearby ally way. Yap thought Butorega as he turned and began to follow her. He took his time walking which should have been a sign to the woman that he was onto her little ploy. “Please hurry”, she spoke as she turned a sharp corner.
Probably behind that corner spoke Butorega as he walked to the edge of the narrow ally way. He did not turn the corner, but rather stared at the edge for a moment. He then drew his axe and smashed it against the stone wall right before the edge.
“Shoot”, screamed a voice from the other side of the wall. Butorega grin widened as he heard the scream of the person. Sounds like a woman thought Butorega as he rushed into the opening. As he moved past the stone wall he swung his axe to the right. The woman screeched in horror and quickly dropped her knife. Butorega axe stopped only an inch away from her skull. It was less luck, but more thanks to her lack of aggression. Butorega had suspected an attack when he came around the corner. The woman suddenly fell as Butorega realized she had fainted.
“Erin”, shouted the tattered cloth woman as she turned back around the corner. She saw Butorega axe on the wall and the woman on the ground. Anger entered her eyes as she rushed toward the Brigand.
“Weaklings”, spoke Butorega as the woman came closer. It was clear to him that these two were no cutthroats or at least not cutthroats yet. They were desperate fools searching for money. As the woman closed in Butorega pulled back his leg and placed a firm front kick into the woman’s chest. It was almost like hitting ply wood. She flew back several feet and hit the ground. She laid there out cold and her knife fell to the ground.
Butorega stopped and turned around. They were neither a threat, nor worthy of killing, but something in his mind told him to turn around. He could not leave them behind simply knocked out on the cold ground. Well he could, but something in the back of his head told him not to. He did not know if it was from him meeting his sister after so long, or just his own conscious but Butorega had to do something. “What a drag”, spoke the brigand as he dragged the first next to her sister. He then pulled out a canteen filled with water and began to pour it on the two girl’s faces. “They better at least have some good information.”

Aurek sat in an uncomfortable chair. Well, chair would be an understatement. It was more like a stack of boards that seemed designed to slide around. When he had first sat down, he had nearly fallen off the contraption. After a few minutes, he was able to stabilize himself. Once properly situated, Aurek simply waited. After what seemed like an eternity someone finally came up to him. "Good afternoon, customer." The person sounded like a much too happy young man.
"Shove it." Aurek was not pleased. "You take way too long."
"This is the only hospital in the city." Still way too cheerful.
Aurek was incredibly suspicious. "Why are you so happy? Everyone else in this city seems to be depressed."
"Oh, so you noticed, huh? Well, I suppose even the blind can be perceptive." The man leaned in extremely close. Aurek could feel his breath, even smell it. It smelled like lilacs. "You'll recover from your blindness." The man moved away immediately. A squeak let Aurek know the man had sat down. More squeaking. He was moving around. "Hold still."
A sharp pain seemed to rip into Aurek's skull. It felt much the same as when he was blinded by the light mage back in the arena. He vomited. It tasted like blood. "Oh, that was exciting. Didn't expect you to do that. Well, you'll feel better later." Aurek fell out of the chair narrowly missing the pile of his own blood. His head felt like it was going to explode. "Have a wonderful evening, customer."
Aurek laid on the floor for a while longer, convulsing in pain. Time dragged on though it was only a few moments. Once he could breathe properly, he opened his eyes once more. Oddly, he could see vague shapes and shades of light and dark. Pushing himself up, Aurek looked around at his new world. Everything seemed out of focus, but it certainly was an improvement. Inhaling deeply, he established feeling with his body once more. At that point he noticed something in his hand. Not trusting his sight still, he carefully felt the object. Two objects actually. Roughly the same size. And they felt like scales. Somehow, Aurek immediately knew these were on his eyes. "He ripped these out," was the only thing Aurek could say. Rising to his feet, Aurek unsteadily made his way outside. The bright light from the sun was an immediate contrast to the darkness of the room he was in. Everything seemed a little bit better. It was time to explore his new found world.

“So let me get this straight”, spoke Butorega as he stared down at the two would be thieves. “You decided that you need to get out of town, but you did not have any money to get into an inn. So you decided that you were going to rob someone for the money.”
“Yes”, spoke the younger girl as she stared at the ground. Butorega still had their knives and was a few feet away. Pathetic thought Butorega.
“Here”, spoke the brigand as he tossed their knives back to them. “Next time you try to rob someone make sure they are unarmed”, spoke the bandit as he began to walk away. “Oh”, he spoke suddenly sending the two maidens into a small panic. “A final warning for you two amateurs”, spoke Butorega as he turned around. “If you are not ready to be killed then don’t hold a weapon. I was kind toward you, but the next person may not be so forgiving.” With those words Butorega stepped back into the main street. The girls did not give him much information, but in truth he was not trying to get much.
“I am going soft”, spoke Butorega as he reached the center of the street. He turned to see Aurek wobbling though the street. “Hay Aurek”, shouted the brigand as he walked up to the old soldier. He made sure to tap loudly so to let Aurek know it was him. Butorega had no idea if the doctor had actually helped him so he acted as if everything was usual.

Aurek heard his name to the left. After rely on his hearing so much, he was getting quite used to it. He immediately recognized Butorega's voice. As the bandit came closer he wasn't getting any clearer. He was just getting bigger. Yesh, bandits got large. The general outline was there but Aurek couldn't see any specifics. It was frustrating to be so close to getting his eyesight back but still be missing part of it. "I can see you have good size." It was random, but Aurek figured the bandit would pick up on the nuance. He was glad to be done with all that tapping and moving by sounds. It was so annoying. Looking around, he noticed the organized structure of the city. He also could see large masses slowly shifting about. By the sounds, he was able to guess it was the crowd milling about. But they were so subdued. It was odd.
"We should probably find some place to stay. I'm guessing there's no real better town for us to get to before the sun sets." Practicalities came first. They had too much stuff to be carrying around anyway. "Maybe I'll stay here for a few days anyway." He was musing aloud. "The people here are quiet. It's nice." He rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck. "Yeah, let's go find an inn." With that decided, Aurek began walking toward what he thought looked like an inn. But he couldn't tell. He couldn't see the letters to know if it was a shop or an inn. Rather than asking Butorega for assistance, Aurek decided to try to smell his way there. Unfortunately, all the food from the market blocked any smell coming from inside buildings. With a sigh of disgust, he turned to Butorega. "Lead the way."

“Right”, spoke Butorega as he led Aurek toward the local Inn. It was smart of him to follow the old man rather than go off on his own adventure. Even if he did get some of his eye sight back he still would have a hard time moving around the city.
Butorega opened the door to the inn. To his great surprise the Inn was quite plain. Most Inns had something special about them. They usually had a gimmick or a wired design. At the very least the host of the Inn would be different, but not this one. It was plain, simple wooden tables, and simple wooden chairs. The attendant was some fat guy in his late middle ages and his bar attendant was a woman who was neither a lass nor a hag.
“Well this place is quite bleak”, spoke Butorega.

Aurek looked at the dull inn almost as one views a beautiful woman. There was ardor and lust written all across those dull eyes. It had taken a bit, but he realized that this place was indeed home. This was his heaven, his Nirvana! It was dull, quiet, and easy. The people were not rowdy or rambunctious. He would be comfortable here. Sure, there was that brief notion to pick up the lance and follow in the ways of his father, but the sheer boring beauty of Dragon’s Peak had completely removed that foolishness from him. Aurek cared little the people, only that they would leave him alone. And indeed, the residents of this place seemed docile and placated. Even the doctor hadn’t made him pay.
Wait. What doctor doesn’t make you pay? And what had happened to the guy who had answered the door? Suddenly Aurek’s mind began to reel from all the questions he had been ignoring up to this point. Why was that guy the only happy one here? What could possibly cause all these people to become so oppressed? The government wasn’t doing it. Aurek hadn’t even seen guards standing out from the crowds. What was wrong with this place? He decided to get some answers. Before he could ask the innkeeper what was going on, a scream silenced him. “THEY’RE BACK!” It was a desperate cry. Suddenly there was crying and wailing outside. People stampeded past the inn. Some shoved their way inside.
Apparently, the cause was something outside. Curious, Aurek fought his way through the heaving, rolling group of quivering flesh. Once outside he immediately noticed the smell. The stench of something rotting seemed so palpable one could taste it. Aurek gagged. He looked for the origin of the smell in the direction all the running people came from. All he could see were a few blurs in the distance. It was all very mysterious. And annoying. Whatever the cause for the people’s sobriety also seemed to stir them into a frenzy. And frenzied people were always a pain to be around. These things were breaking Nirvana and needed to be punished. Probably some bandits that bribed the guards or corrupt government officials or something. Shouldn’t be anything major. That’s when the new smell came.
Blood. It was thick in the air. As Aurek continued to approach, he could discern new screams. These were different. They were screams of the doomed. “They got Gerald! He stabbed it, and it still ripped his head off!”
“We know that, Clarence! This is the third attack already! We just have to hold them till they leave! No one try to die!”
“Augh!”
“James! James! Argh! They got James!”
“Calm down you idiots! Stop running away!”
Aurek saw two people run past him. He was pretty sure he could hear one crying. Like a moth to the flame, Aurek was drawn to this curious occurrence. He could see groups of people scattered about. They seemed like the guards. There were other people as well. But these were alone. Probably the attackers. As Aurek watched, one approached a group of roughly three or four people. All three stabbed it in the midsection simultaneously. A kill shot. But the thing just seemed to stand there. Like it was confused. Some movement occurred and suddenly one of the people was on the ground five feet from where he was originally standing. Even magic didn’t do that.
He was so engrossed in the engagement, Aurek failed to notice one of attackers had gotten close to him. The noise alerted him to the danger. It was like a growl but also a whimper. Turning to face his antagonist, Aurek immediately brought his shield to bear. And he waited. The thing was quite slow. An easy walking pace. What was so bad about this? Once the thing was in range of lance, Aurek struck. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a solid strike to the chest. Aurek could hear the bones cracking. Oddly, the thing just kept walking, impaling itself even farther. Confused, Aurek relaxed his guard. He couldn’t see very well, but whatever he was fighting seemed to look like a human. The scent of rotting flesh had intensified as it approached though. It was already dead? Any more thoughts were quickly snuffed by a quick attack. Claws raked across his armor and flesh. The force of the attack sent him flying backwards as well. What the - ? Somehow Aurek still had hold of his lance. The wound wasn't deep and a quick application of vulnerary sufficed to stop the bleeding. Slowly, the soldier rose to his feet. He smiled a little. There was fear written all over his face as the creature approached, but something else as well. Excitement. It was time to learn the lance.

Screams of fear filled the air as panic came to Dragon’s Peak. The sound was like music to Butorega ears. The inn was boring and nothing in the area could meet Butorega fancy. The sound of screams meant trouble, and trouble meant a good fight. A sudden surge of bloodlust began to rush through Butorega body. “A fight”, spoke Butorega as he headed toward the door. From what he could tell Aurek to felt the surge as well, but knowledge from their previous conversation told him better. Butorega immediately tried to walk out the door, but a sudden flood of cowards began to push him backwards. Before he knew it Aurek had left the building before him.
“Foolish geezer”, spoke Butorega as he struggled through the crowd. What was Aurek doing rushing into battle like that. He was practically blind and from what Butorega could tell he needed a second just to fight.
“Mr.”, a voice rose above the crowd as Butorega turned to see one of the girls he had knocked unconscious earlier. “Don’t go outside there are monsters out there. They will rip out your hear and feast on your brain”, she spoke pleading the bandit to stay inside of the Inn.
“Monsters”, spoke Butorega as he paused for a moment. The pause was not out of fear, nor was it out of caution. It was more of a presentation matter as the Brigand decided it would be a good time to show off. “The real monster is me”, spoke Butorega as he pushed the crowd back. The brigand forced his way through the crowd and exited out the door. As he left the great wooden door shut behind him. He heard the bar locking behind him and knew retuning to the inn would not be possible.
“Hay Aurek where are you”, shouted Butorega as he looked up. As the words left his mouth he saw the armored Soldier fly through the air. The sight was surprising for Butorega. Butorega turned and looked only to see a horror he did not think to exist. There standing in the middle of the street was a man made of decayed flesh. His body reached and his hands were covered with razor sharp claws. Butorega himself could hardly believe that anything could send a man flying back so far.
“The hell”, spoke Butorega as he stared at the monster. For a normal man fear would sink into his heart. The sight of an undead horror stalking the street would be enough to dissolve the courage of even the bravest man, but not for Butorega. A since of excitement rose up in his stomach as he stared at the lifeless corpse, it was a new enemy. Butorega took a deep breath and gave off a roar that seemed to radiate throughout the city streets. All eyes dead and living turned towards him. The monster that seemed to focus on the group of three earlier stopped and turned its gaze towards the brigand. The beast attacking Aurek even paused to see this new opponent. Without another word Butorega charged in. He had no idea what his enemy was capable of, but he did however know himself. Butorega was at his best at offense and from what happened to Aurek he could tell his opponent was powerful.
Butorega’s first strike found itself in the beast collar bone. The iron axe pierced through the decayed flesh and stuck itself inside its rib cage. The bandit was pleased with his first strike, but to his great surprise the monster was not dead. It simply wobbled and took a step back and Butorega knew what was coming next. Aurek wound was enough information to let him know how powerful his opponent was. Butorega stepped back abandoning his axe inside the beast shoulder. His decision was keen as the beast claw flew forward at blinding speed. Even with the preempted movement Butorega was barely able to dodge its claw. The razor sharp finger nails sliced through the air ripping through the thick leather of Butorega jacket like paper.
“Damn what are these things”, spoke Butorega as blood began to seep out from his chest. Even after dodging the attack the force was great enough that it scratched the Brigand. Butorega looked on as the beast wobbled toward him. His axe still lodged into its shoulder.

Of course Butorega would come charging into the fight with his infernal yelling and screaming. And then he got the axe stuck in the monster. The bandit clearly wasn't one for making a strategy. Did he think the undead were something that could be intimidated? They were definitely fighting zombies. And legend said zombies did not stop for anything. They just killed all that was in their way. Which made them a nuisance. Especially considering they were ruining the peace and quiet. Aurek could still hear the screams of people as they ran away in fear. "Tch." They were stupid. You could slowly stroll to escape the monsters. One just needed to beware of the powerful swings and nefarious claws on those things. And the fact that nothing seemed to able to kill them. Aurek decided it was time to test the limits of one. Advancing slowly, Aurek braced his shield just in case. Striking quickly, he inflicted several wounds that would kill a normal human several times over. The zombie just continued forward. There was only one option left: the head. If there was a way to kill it, it would mostly likely be the head.
With a new target in mind, Aurek made a quick but effective plan. First, he swung his lance at the zombie's knees, knocking it to the ground. A strong hit from his shield knocked the thing onto its back. Finally, Aurek stepped over it, and, using both hands, drove his lance through the face and directly into the brain. The zombie squirmed and writhed beneath the lance briefly before becoming completely still. His idea had panned out. If it hadn't, Most likely only his leg would have been broken in the best case scenario. Most likely though, his gamble would have cost him his life. But that didn't matter. They had a way to kill these things. Triumphantly, Aurek surveyed the battlefield with new life. Which was immediately crushed. There were no guards around anymore. And the number of zombies had increased. Looking around, Aurek could faintly see what he assumed were the guards retreating to the capital building. Either they were going to hide or they were called back. It didn't really matter. They weren't going to be helpful. It seemed to be just him and Butorega. Against at least 20 zombies. Perfect. "Grab your axe. Aim for the head. I don't know about you, but I'm getting out of this alive."
Aurek advanced toward the next zombie and completed his combo attack, successfully killing another one. It was tiring though. He needed a more efficient method of fighting. He needed to make precise thrusts. A strange noise distracted him from his thoughts. Off to his left, a bright light flashed. Then more followed. It appeared as though these flashes were occurring throughout the entire city. Screams got louder. One flashed close enough nearby that Aurek could see what was happening: more zombies. Everywhere. The hopelessness was astounding. Shocked, Aurek turned back just in time to see a zombie getting ready to attack. He reflexively blocked the attack but was pushed backwards. It hurt. A lot. His arm felt like it would break. He could handle maybe two more hits. Maybe. "So annoying," was his only reply as he struck out at the zombie's face. It took four tries before he could land a proper blow. Between having to constantly move to avoid attacks and trying to hit such a small target, Aurek was wearing himself out. It was going to be a long day.

Yunneth had already parted with the group. Yet it seems no one noticed. She had walked around the magic district of the town, trying to find the latest tomes and magic items. Perhaps a staff to use early on if she decides to become a druid. Plus it was a chance to get some peace and quiet. During the long trip, she was being pestered as to why she barely eats and sleeps. She had a hard time shutting them up. It was only when she threatened to rip their tongues out and sew their mouths closed that they left the subject be. It was fairly obvious the shaman was in no mood. Eventually she had gotten a ancient scroll she could study up on. She was into dark history and the scroll had it. She was soon sitting on a brick wall while reading that the village came under attack. Though she ignored the screams. But when at least 5 of the zombies saw her did Yunneth finally act. She groans in annoyance and stands up with her semi-worn out tome.
"...Wow...you guys look worse than me. Heh...hehheh...but you will look so much worse when I am done with you. To hell with you all..."
Soon Yunneth began to cast Flux on two of the zombies. One was a critical hit while the other didn't do much damage. The third came from behind and struck her back. Yunneth actually felt pain there. She glared at the zombies and soon ran through a group of trees hoping to give herself a bit of a advantage with the terrain.

"Damn, I still have to get my axe back", spoke Butorega. The Zombie still had the blade lodged into its shoulder. Butorega took notice that Yunneth was no longer with them. In truth he had noticed earlier, but said nothing about it. Her comment about sewing his mouth shut was enough to make him desire some space. None the less however he did not have time to worry about here.
Butorega charged forward. The Zombie was as ready as a zombie could be. As Butorega approached the Zombie swung once more, but this time the brigand chose to duck under the attack rather than stay out of its range. The Zombies arm flew over his head cutting through the air leaving a loud wosh sound. The brigand continued through his motion and tackled the beast legs knocking it to the ground. The Zombie snarled as Butorega pinned its arms to the ground with his knees.
"Can't swing your arms if you have no space for the muscles to move", spoke Butorega as he slammed his fist into the zombies head. He had given up pulling out his axe till it was dead. The brigand simply pounded the monster face in with his fist breaking through bone and rotten flesh. He kept hitting till the monster stopped struggling and then hit it once more for good measure. A throbbing pain began to radiate through his fist. The monster was dead, but Butorega hand was not in the best shape. It was best for him to not do that again.
"Grab your axe and aim for the head", spoke Aurek. Butorega looked up at the man. It was already clear to him that their head was the weak point, but he had no time for sarcasm. Another one was fast approaching.
"There sure is a lot of them", spoke Butorega. He took a deep breath and charged at the zombie. This time however the brigand knew better than to aim for the shoulder. As he approached the zombie swung its arms once again. Elementary thought Butorega and he ducked under the blow again. He then jumped into the air and planted his foot into the zombie's chest. The weight knocked the beast over as Butorega's axe came down with it. With a loud roar he slammed his axe into the beast head shattering it like an egg shell.
"One down and a thousand more to go", spoke Butorega. This was starting to turn into an interesting fight. The wolfish grin on Butorega's face widen as he charged another beast.

Slowly waking up from his deep sleep inside his Inn room, Victor heard the screaming of people outside and even the sounds of people dying. Jumping off the small bed, he grabbed his heavy iron sword and placed it in it's sheath on his back. Instead of taking the stairs, he decided to go out the window. A story up and now a story down as he landed on his feet. Taking out his sword, he'd follow the sounds that was the loudest. 'What is going on here? Can't a traveler get some shut eye?' He thought to himself. Alot of people were running past him going the other way, as if running from something. He came to a hault when he saw the unspeakable sight. These rotting creatures were eating what was left of the guards and civilians that were caught. Squinting his eyes a bit and lifting up his sword, he charged right in and began swinging the blade of his sword. The undead heard him and locked their heads onto him. As they made their way to him, he kept up with his attacks. When one fell, two more came up to take it's place.
"What the hell is going on?!?" He would scream out loud ducking from a few swings at him. Spinning his sword a bit, he'd cleave downwards taking off the creature that he was engaged with arms clean off. But the creature kept coming. He hopped backwards. His eyes scanned his surroundings and saw that he was about to go up an inclined street. It was no use for him to keep fighting in this area since he was alone. Making a mad dash up the hill, he'd keep his grip on his sword's handle hard incase those things were up there waiting for him. "Hopefully I'm not alone in this fight." As he got closer and closer to the top, he could see some more scattered across the street. Changing course was easy, he turned his body and ran down a small ally way where it was clear for the time being.

Aurek pierced through the face of another zombie. His chest heaved as he desperately gulped for air. His lack of exercise over the years was showing greatly. Still, the monsters just kept coming. Aurek felt sure he was doomed. He needed a better way to attack these things. And Butorega was just going crazy swinging his axe around. Both would be exhausted before long. It was difficult for Butorega to get close enough, and it was extremely taxing just to aim for the head. Then Aurek had an epiphany. Before the bandit could reach the next one, Aurek called out to him, "Butorega, we need to work together. Follow my lead!" He got a running start, passing his partner quickly. Extending his lance next to himself, Aurek swung at the legs of a zombie. The things reaction was slow, ensuring there was nothing it could do. The legs went backwards and the face slammed into the ground. Hopefully, Butorega would capitalize on the opening. Aurek just continued his run, not wanting to lose his momentum.
A scream caused him to pause and look. "Mommy!" a child called out as it approached a zombie. What was the stupid kid saying? That thing wasn't his mother. It was a monster. A man was close behind the child. When the man looked up, he stopped dead in his tracks. "Honey?" There was a sickening crunch as the zombie ripped the child's head off with one blow. Still, the man did nothing. It was like he was in shock. The zombie's claws destroyed the man's rib cage. He was dead before he knew what had happened. Aurek just stared. The zombies looked like people from the city. They were probably animated corpses from the previous attacks. That was when Aurek noticed all the people running around, screaming. Why weren't they hiding? Aurek was flabbergasted. A bright light drew his attention. Buildings were on fire. Some zombies must have made it inside the houses and spread the fire somehow. It didn't matter. The structure of the city caused each building to set fire to its neighbor. Before long, everything would be torched. There was a mass of people just running around. Aurek couldn't distinguish between them and the zombies. He knew for sure that the few left at their location needed to be put down before the mob showed up. "Let's finish this quickly, boy!" he yelled before turning back and charging the remaining zombies.

It seemed that more and more of these zombies were popping up and it seemed that the civilians that died from the creatures were also coming up as the enemy. So now he had to revert to different roads and allys to get around them. Victor made a fast stop when he heard a young scream coming from a home right next to him. His eyes looked and saw the door destroyed in as if something tore the would to get in. The sun was going down and darkness was filling in. He made a bolt into the home, seeing blood splattered every where and even body parts. The scream happened again upstairs as the sounds of someone throwing objects at something was also heard. Running up the stairs, he'd see a zombie going after a young girl who had blood on here. Taking his sword, he'd impale the zombie and ran it through the window. The creature slid right off his sword and fell into a pile of boxes down below. The broken wood now impaled the creature keeping it still for the time being. Victor looked back at the girl who was in the corner next to him. He reached out his hand to her and said, "I'm here to help. Come with me and I'll take you to safety." His hand was still out for a few moments until she finally took it. He led her out and they both saw the flames and smoke bellowing up into the sky. Her voice would finally said, "We might want to get to the Capital building. That place has enough protection to keep us safe...atleast for a while." Nodding his head, he would reply to her. "If you don't mind, lead the way. You know these streets better then I, I'm just a simple traveler passing through your city. If we come up against anymore of those creatures, I'll take care of them." Feeling somewhat assured, she began to lead Victor. Keeping it at a fast but quiet pace so no attention was drawn on them. They both could hear the panic and the horror that was happening in this legendary city. When they both turned onto a main street, they both saw two zombies walking up. "Oh shi..." The young female ran behind him using him as a shield. Taking his sword, he'd propare for combat and say to her still looking at them. "I need you to hide...no ands if's or buts, just do it." Not asking, she was gone like a ghost. Running into an old busniess that was closed down. 'This day just gets better and better.' He would think as the one creature was now in striking range of his sword. His sword would cut the air with the sharp edge making a big gouge in it with some of what was left of it's organs hanging out. As he was about to attack again, it would flail it's arm at him sending him flying into a stone wall. Falling to a knee, he'd spit and look up at it closing in on him again. "Damn, you may be ugly, but you hit like a bull." Quickly taking his sword, he'd slash the legs. Severing the tendents and tissue from the bone. It fell backwards. Victor quickly got back up to his feet and placed the tip of his sword right through the head severing it in half horizantel. The upper half of it's head fell backwards rocking back and fourth. His eyes would see that the second one was at the doors of where the young girl ran to hide. With his sword aiming ahead, he'd charge at it as it's back was facing him. He would yell at the top of his lungs as his sword pierced right through this zombies spine mid way down it's back. The sword's blade was now sticking through the door as well. He let go of his Iron sword and grabbed the creatures head where he began to smash it's head onto the door until it's skull caved in. Letting out a quick exhale, he grabbed the handle of his sword and tried to pull it out. Didn't budge. "Great..." Placing his right foot onto the door, he'd use his arm and legs strength. Slowly the sword slid out and the body collapsed onto the ground in a big mess. The smell was horrible as he opened the door. The girl was standing in the back waiting. She saw that the coast was clear and ran out. So, he followed right behind. And again they stopped. This time they heard a male shouting, "Let's finish this quickly, boy!" He looked around, a few moments went by and finally he saw two warriors fighting off the undead. One was a large man wielding an axe, swinging it like he was gonna chop trees and the other was a much older man who was clearly a soldier or former since he was armored up and lance in hand.

“Right”, shouted Butorega as he moved in to capitalize on Aureks attack. The old man’s decision to combine their efforts was ingenious. Butorega smashed open the head of the zombie before it could even move. The duo continued this strategy for three more kills till the sound of a small child caught the bearded man’s attention. One of the zombies was the reanimated corpse of a kid’s dead mother. The boy simply stared as the beast ripped through his body. Worse yet the boy’s father followed suit.
“Damned fools”, spoke Butorega. The brigand charged off from Aurek for a moment. He was not going to let that slaughter go without some sliver of vengeance. It was a foolish thing to do, but Butorega did not care at the moment. There was something about seeing a kid being cut down that always pissed him off. It was always in his code to never harm children and though he had worked with people who did he made sure it was never in his sight.
“Die Monster”, shouted Butorega as he rushed in. The beast swung its arm, but Butorega strike was too fast to counter. It was the brigands first clean hit of the day. The axe sliced cleanly through the zombie’s neck splitting the bone and decade flesh like a hot knife through butter. The female zombie head sailed off into the air and rolled into the street. It was in this moment Butorega noticed all the people in the street. It was unlike the mindless masses to cower in the streets. They usually fled to their homes and hid underneath their beds, but something must have been wrong. Then in that moment Butorega took notice of the fire. The flames danced into the air as screams of horror and fear filled the air. “Who started a fire”, spoke Butorega knowing full well he would never find the answer. None the less the brigand steeled himself. The battle was far from over and the fire was the least of his worries.
Butorega rushed back to where Aurek was standing, but sheer chaos in the street was unnerving. He could not tell friend from foes as the zombies began to mix into the crowd of beheaded chickens that were the town residence. We can’t fight like this thought Butorega.
“OUT OF THE WAY YOU TOOTHLESS COWARDS”, shouted Butorega at the top of his lungs. His voice radiated over the chaos and for a brief moment order was restored to the street. The zombies all turned their gaze at the brigand. Their eyes malicious and their intentions were made clear. The citizens looked on with confusion. They had no idea who this man was, but they knew he was here to fight. Butorega charged forward cutting off the leg of the nearest zombie almost as if he was giving a signal for the chaos to begin one more as the zombies switched back to closer targets.
